???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? In all our travels we would not have even thought to travel to this location. ???????????? (HaHa). In your dreams, these cachers do. ??????[:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort. ???????? Devilish Brilliant and Clever I like it Another one off the list TTBLNSL TFTC/TFTH/TFBUH - ?? Hurtle ?? Out for a much needed walk and I decided to wander along by the river before making my way up the Pipeline Track. I did not see a person on this section of the trail (ah, the serenity) and thoroughly enjoyed some of the rock scrambling. Having read a couple of the logs I decided to see if I could traverse towards the cache before climbing out. Maybe a little loose under foot in places but I did end up in the right spot. After signing the log I climbed up and onto the path. Great to see some older caches still in play. TFTC TeamHurtle
Out with a muggle mate again, she’s taken a shine to geocaching. Great for me as another pair of eyes is always welcome

Found during a walk around the Old Noarlunga end of Onkaparinga National Park. Very nice to find one of SA's earlier caches! Thanks for the cache TeamHurtle.
This pineapple went out caching with AussieSPARKIE in the area around Onkaparinga National Park.
We made 12 finds together, as well as 2 DNFs. Plus a cache while I was solo on the way home. 13 finds all up for the day.
We checked a few wrong spots before I was sent down the steeper descent where the cache was found.
A slight crack in the corner but the contents holding up well.
Cache retrieved and signed.
Thanks Hurtle for this cache.
This cache brings Goldy's total find count to 1721 on the 24th of September 2022.

This is a bit further up the river than I was hoping to go, but I can’t resist an old regular. It’s the first time that I have been along this stretch of the Onkaparinga, a most enjoyable walk. Thanks for this one Hurtle.
After a bit of scrambling around by the rocks, the cache was found. Also got the other number for the mystery cache. TFTC Hurtle
A fun cache in a nice location. Got my first number for the mystery!!

Targeting caches today that were both close to home and remote - noted that this one hadnt been found since last winter.
We took the difficult route getting to this.... from the Porosa track 2km upstream. We did those caches and then walked the "goat track" along the river down to this cache. It was 2km as the crow flies and took us about an hour as the track was quite challenging and overgrown in some parts but a really enjoyable bushwalk along the river.
Easy find once on the right level TFTC

Off I trekked down the hill to collect this one and a puzzle near by, a nice walk since the rain had stopped. Cache was quickly found and is all good
Today I headed to McLaren vale to clean up a bit more of the area and mainly target the OTD series. The weather was crap and not the best day to be out in a bike for 2 hours whilst it’s belting with rain.
Managed to also run into 2ysTassies along the way.

On a nice autumn day, after lunch and our obligatory election voting, [@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) and I headed to Onkaparinga River National Park for some walking around the area collecting geocaches. We primarily targeted Hurtle's ORNP series to continue collecting numbers, and made a few other finds on the way.
Wasn't sure if we would find this on our detour after the church track multi-cache, as I wasn't sure we could get across the river from sir_spectre's river geocache. However after scouting the river and reeds, we saw a small track across (which surpried me - maybe the river was just a little down at this time of year). We then made the further walk to this geocache, and after some clammering over the rocky cliffs, [@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) made the find. A good conditioned cache, but not sure if this one qualified as aa regular sized cache. Also, no number was on this lid (so the desicription may need to be updated), so perhaps it was just a replacement cache at some point. However the required strategic number was located in the front of the logbook. Nearly forgot about it actually once we hid the cache again. Thanks Hurtle/TeamHurtle.

Woo hoo it's Friday frolicking again. Once again I met up with Froghopping for the second of probably many treks into the Onkaparinga River National Park on the search for those elusive smileys. Continuing our clockwise navigation around the park we added another three in the ORNP series which was enough to confirm one of the puzzles and started collecting digits for the second. Today we only did about 12 kms of hiking and went up 77 floors of elevation in doing it a big drop from a fortnight ago but we were dodging rain showers and had a little less time. [B)] We got about a half dozen in the park and a few more just outside. Still gonna take a few more trips. [:o)]
Time to start collecting some more ORNP clues. After parking we started the stroll and the going was nice and gentle to warm up. And then we reached where the pipeline track started to descend. Down, down down we went. Then it was across a thankfully dry creek and up onto a nice little slope overlooking the creek. We had a few slips on the sour sobs and loose shale getting to here and then the GPS needle pointed...well over the edge. Bugger. So over we went and explored the first couple of ledges. And yet is wasn't there and the needle suggested we needed to be lower yet. Bit of a gap between here and the next level with wet sour sobs and loose shale. One slip and it was slide all the way down into the wet stuff. [xx(] I could see some kangaroo tracks in the sour sobs along a ledge below so I saw where they came from, went back and went around to where they had come from. Bugger still slippery as well but managed to make it to GZ without slipping where the find was quickly made. Now to get back to some more stable ground and then up that bloody pipeline track! [B)] FP from me as had all the elements of a great cache. A nice walk to somewhere I had never been. A little bit of risk to get to the final GZ .
**Thanks Hurtle for this cache. **

Well that was a hike and a half, following the pipeline down forever we eventually arrived at the waterhole, river here according to the depth marker was 1.1m, but in the tree about 3m above our heads we could see drift wood stuck from last years floods, wow must have been ripping through here, made our way to GZ and after adjusting our elevation we made the find, before the long climb out again.

Sad that one of the last finders, whom was GIVEN the numbers needed to complete this series, felt the need to complain to which one of the cache in the series is now archived AND locked which puts the whole series in doubt!
Sorry to those whom are part way through this great 10 year old series.
Disabling for now, while I contemplate Groundspeak's decision to not un-archive Sundews Ridge Loop Track, without which the final cannot be obtained....

Went for a lovely walk on a track rarely traversed for a maint run.
Replaced the cache an installed a new logbook.
Amazing the coordinates are still good, despite 1st being taken over 10 years ago with the old Yellow Etrex unit.
Removed the old cache, still with the number needed written inside the lid.
The number needed is now on the introductory page of the new logbook.
Enjoy.

As the cache is actually still there, albeit needing a little TLC, am reactivating by requeat so cachers can continue to find...
New containers organised.
Now just have ro get here in the better weather and before the snakes awaken.
Thanks

Thanks for the heads up AnyMules.
Will get to this one and the others nearby asap.
They have been out over 10 years now for many finders to find, so time for an upgrade of the whole series.
All of the cache in this series will be upgraded/replaced over the next few months, including the multi that a faceless/anonymous logger reported!
Then hopefully they will be all good for another 10 years.

Found with sir_spectre while out doing some in the area
Container lid broken in 4 places and log starting to get damp.

Perhaps you would like to change your 'find' to a 'note' since you didn't sign the logbook?
Is the logbook wet or full? Is there water in the cache?

After just walking out the gorge me and rod81w decided this was the next cache. Parked at the " wrong " gate. Walked down gorge watched by kangaroos. Yet another river crossing ( dam that waters cold ). Found and signed cache. Removed slug and alot of slug poo. Cache lid is cracked through co ords number but still readable. Log dry.
Decided with Sir_spectre to head down the hill instead if driving around the other side of the gorge to attempt this one, terrain wasn't too bad for the 1st 100 or so metres then the obstacles appeared, 1st a massive kangaroo stopped us in our tracks and he wasn't scared at all, he kept his eyes focused on us and didn't even move, we merged closer and he just stood there like he owned this space, finally bounced away and in no time after crawling under a barb wire fence we were met with another river, however this one was easily crossed and soon had the CIH, A new container is needed, signed the log and then headed off to the next one.
TFTC team hurtle some great views from down here and 2 pairs of frozen feet

After a hot hike along the river on the wrong side I was hoping that a suitable crossing point would let me reach the target when a little weir appeared! Just what I needed! The hint was useful too. TFTC
Note that the lid of the cache is badly cracked and has a hole in it.

Day 8 of team Seffnjarah and team Mickjor's trip to Adelaide and beyond. After staying in Cape Jervis overnight I went off to do some caching while the rest of the team members went on a trip to Kangaroo Island for the day.
A 4.00am departure was made with the ambitious intention to complete the whole Onkaparinga River NP series in one day. Predicted 40 degree temperatures and strong winds were an ominous sign for the day.
By the time I arrived at the parking spot the sky was only just starting to show a hint of light, so the head torch was required to navigate my way towards GZ. The initial part of the walk proved easy enough but then I reached the downhill part. This always provides me with dismay as I always know I need to climb back up to return. After reaching the bottom I turned off the track to reach GZ. As I got closer a kangaroo jumped out of the scrub right in front of me and I'm not sure which of us got the biggest fright
After gathering my wits I proceeded on to GZ where the cache was quickly found. The container is very brittle from UV exposure but the required number was still obtained. The steep climb back to the car was negotiated with sweat flowing freely despite the early hour, and provided the opportunity to witnesse a lovely sunrise. TFTC.

Howdy guys, well I'm new to this but I found your cache without really looking! I had been trekking downstream through the gorge for about 3k's when I had to cross the river due to heavy undergrowth and was climbing back up to the track I spotted when I basically stepped on the rock that your cache was under, so I left a note - last log was in 2013 & took a sticker then left a soft plastic lure & replaced the box- Forgot to record the no, 616 or 661 maybe?? I was on a mission to reach old noarlunga b4 dark-7:30 I got there! Anyway, after tracking down who the cache belonged to I decrypted the clue and I'm afraid that's not the location it is now,I had a GPS but didn't think to mark it. If you want a more detailed description of its location, contact me and I'll let you know-cheers
Just thought I'd point out for future finders of this cache...
The cache was not placed at the bottom of a steep hill, but rather along a fairly flat stretch of the river bank, coming in from the church track!
It is not necessary to bust a boiler to get to this one, but in fact you can enjoy a rather nice stroll along the edge of the river for about a km in each direction.
UNLESS you choose to follow others whom try to go the shortest possible route... DOWN! lol

Down it is! Sounds like a fun find, might have to give it a creak next chance I get.
Mr Tardis went for a lovely day of hiking, bush bashing and moaning up and down steep terrain with some lovely views of Onkaparinga River and Gorge. Accompanied by a keen mob of intrepid explorers; *Cache_or_Check*, e.gregory1, Gordon Patrick Samuel, Malco, MtnLioness, Mr Scoobster and Tiger_Muffin. I managed 16 caches for the day, mostly in or around the Onkaparinga National Park.
Mr Tardis didn't mind the trip down and then back up, it was a good chance to burn off some excess calories and give the heart a workout. It's a lovely area near the river and probably a nice walk from the Church track. If you're looking for a challenge, park on the road due south from GZ and follow the pipeline down and back up the hill.
Signed the log. Thanks for the cache TeamHurtle.

Approached from a 'different' angle and paid the price!! DOWN DOWN ..slip...laugh...DOWN ..grab...hold...DOWN.. cache.. UP UP ..stagger... pant.. crawl.. UP ..pant... curse... UP.. ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
The views were just fantastic along with the wildlife that we saw along the way.
Thank Huurtle for the find.

Found on another attempt-to-kill-the-lioness hike around some seriously steep sections of the most amazing views and scenery you'll come across in and around the Onkaparinga gorge with the usual crazies.
I managed to keep pace, kinda, with the other feline as a matter of pride, (heh heh, get it, heh heh) for about half the day but the hills were just too much in the end.
See that pipe?
Follow it allllllll the way down, til you turn around and wonder how the hell you're going to make it back up.
Yep, that's it... groan.
Blasted mountain goats, who put caches at the BOTTOM of large nasty declines, who in their right mind...?
I could continue, but You'd think I'd have learnt my lesson rather than continue to follow these crazies down then back up horrid hills by now.
NOPE.
Grumble grumble.
Thanx to the merciful Tardis for the walking stick!

The Onka Septet (we lost one) plunged into the gorge again. Down, down......sign the log (grab the number) and then up...up...up. Assisted a dog-walking muggle as to her exact whereabouts and then proceeded to RUN up the hill. The Lioness hurled some abuse at me but Scoobster was up for the challenge.......for a little while. Step 6 complete; Feral Forest here we come. TFTC Huurtle.
The stout-hearted septet (we lost Greg in the process) had one more mission on the south side of the river and so we travelled down the slopes for a fourth time today.
At GZ we found a koala watching us from high above bemused by the scuffling and shuffling below him.
The legs were tested once again on the way up, but once back at the cars we decided we had the strength for one more entry into the gorge. After all, we finished 14 out of the 15 Onka caches and just had to try and get that elusive last one before darkness set in.

The final piece to the puzzle was found here.
What looks like a nice easy track to GZ on the map, hides a ferocious descent, following the pipeline down to the river. The Onka Octet, with the final coords to the Feral Forest within its grasp got to the bottom of the hill, and with CoC perched above a crop of prickly pear, and suffering a cramp, it wasn't as easy as it looked, but fortunately, the hide wasn't too devious.
After grabbing the final number from the lid (to confirm what we suspected), it was off to find the final final but only after we scaled the nasty hill we had just come down.
TM helped a local with directions - people come to these places without maps, water or food and expect to just wander around - silly people.
Thanks for the cache, Huurtle.

Finally able to get here on a cool day , determined to find some caches and explore the lower part of this park [^].
After a quick drop into ORNP-Church Track to retrieve the clue we missed last time (2 years ago) [B)], we ambled over to the 'Captain's Log - Day 1' cache, checking the (rather high) ford water level on the way . This meant a rethink on our route in, crossing the river using the footbridge further downstream .
The track became very overgrown and we wonder if you can still hike the full lengh of the gorge from here [?]. Fought our way through the foliage (past a very well camo'd 'roo) to the cache site.
Found after a brief search. Took dwarf. Left bangle. SL.
Remembered the clue this time !
Thanks Huurtle.

Another one in my slow quest to find all the the caches in this "gorgeous" valley (it's hard work for an old guy!). Thanks TeamHurtle.
Very nice, a great little walk, feeling so secluded, even though I knew south rd was only a few minutes away. This gorge is fantastic and one day I'll get to all of the caches in here

Accompanied with Lava12 and Team Waldron for the day at Onkaparinga River National Park. Wow, we had good fun - walk along to the GZ... Pity no water there - very dry... I am sure Team waldron will more add some comment. Anyway I enjoyed myself.... SL. Thanks Team hurtle for organising the cache and hunt.
After having done the Church Track cache I thought we would continue on for this one, but Everlasting had a plan.
Back up the hill to the car and off we went for a drive through the unlocked gate. We parked and headed down from the road.
Apparently this cuts a significant amount off the walk, did I mention it was downhill?
We started off well and were enjoying keeping an eye out for the snakes until we came across a slight problem. It got really downhill. A bit of discussion between Everlasting and Lava12 and we continued on.
A bit of fun was had scrambling down the loose stuff, going under or over the waterpipe, depending on your height.
We eventually got to the bottom and crossed the dry river bed and made our way to the cache.
Now for the easy part, the trek back up the hill.
Very hard work.
We all made it back to the top and were standing at the cars working out where to go next when a local walked past and asked if we were locked in. What? Apparently the gate we came through can be locked at any time. Fortunately the gate was still open and we stopped the other side of it to catch our breathe before heading off for another adventure.

We took a very pleasant walk from the Centenary Footbridge. With the rain clouds threatening overhead, there wasn't another person in sight. The many wildflowers and butterflies made the walk an enjoyable one. The cache was quickly found too, which is always a bonus!
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
The butterflys were plentiful but started to freak me out after a while. A good excuse for a walk.

Walked out here last Saturday stayed left and did the reed crossing of the river at the end of the trail. GZ was a small stump where an olive tree used to be. I did a quick read of descriptions for a few Gorge caches before I left home and had olive tree in my head as the clue.DNF. thought it had been removed with the tree. Arrived home and Xibat had logged it on that day. How could this be [?]
Needless to say I read the clue and went back this morning to find the cache. Went on the high side this time, have to say it was worth it. All be it a little scary in some spots with all the mud and water. Thanks Team Hurtle for the cache and two walks. TNSL -L Australian Penny

Jake, Grace and I thought we would do this one after having done "Church Track". The distance was not too bad at about 1Km, the track was narrow and windy. With 2 young children the walk there and back took a bit longer than expected, but they did well with very little complaints. Great scenery. TFTC.
Rode my mountain bike from the Centenary Footbridge to get to this one, had to carry it a little way but wasn't too bad.... Until I decided to keep going onto the caches further upstream, but that's another story all together! There was a beehive along the way in a tree that's fallen down across the trail recently.
Anyway, I found the cache and a little surpise underneath! There was a little lizard under it which I think was a gecko (maybe a Thick Tailed/Barking Gecko), he wants to guard it I think! Does anyone know which type it is by looking at my photo?

This would have to rate as one of the hardest caches that I've done so far. I waked to it on the wrong side of the river through chest high dry grass, had to cross to the right side of the river (facing up stream the right hand side of the river is the one you want to be on) then approached GZ from the bottom up loose shale past a hive of angry bees to find the cache, signed the log and not wanting to relive the trip in decided to go up instead of down and to my horror just over the rise is a perfectly good walking trail which has even got sign posts. Great adventure but!

Quite a saga, this one! Having located the cache on Google Maps months ago I thought, "Easy. I know how to get to this one!" Maybe a few months ago I did, but time certainly dims the memory. Having parked near the bridge (the lower altitude was appealing even if a little longer) we proceeded to walk up the 'wrong' side of the river. This became apparent when we ran out of track and were confronted with long grass and weeds, all busily seeding. Was wondering how to cross the river when close to gz when we found a structure built by a thoughtful man (mainly to accommodate a liquid conveyancing utility). The cache was then easy to find and the return journey (along a path) enjoyable. Took tb. Thanks again Hurtle.
Joan and I went for walk and enjoyed every minute of it. Well, When we arrvied there, Joan slipped but I grabbed her. Phew!!! We found it. I dropped TB"Lost Koala"
Thanks TeamHurtle for the cache.

Found cache.Lovely walking along track but diffcult to climb steep rocks.Cute saw two Koalas under the tree which cache area and saw snake near the river.Keep it watch!!T.F.T.C
What a walk, it just kept getting harder and harder - vehicle track to walking track to no track!!! I'm glad that I had some water with me for this cache, the round trip took about 45 minutes. No snakes seen on the walk. If I wasn't so pig-headed I would have given up on this rather than tackle it alone.

There was no way, anything could have made me go back down pass the gate 1 after Church Track cache. No Thanks!
Instead it was dash longer way to get to this one but still as enjoyable!

Dry conditions made it easier this time. Great cache placement. Took the Blue Wren travel bug. Left Malaysian wise man and a Klem clown. Thanks for the walk Team Hurtle, it was good for us.
Found at 1300 by Groewrs after approaching from the Church Track - on the northern side of the river, BUGGER! Thankfully I managed to cross the river without getting my feet too wet
TNLN and I remembered to write down the co-ords this time!
Like some others, I contemplated the trek from here to Porosa Track cache. Didn't seem too far, but thankfully common sense prevailed!
Certainly an easier walk out along the southern side of the river and my feet were dry when I arrived back at the river crossing - only to get them wet again
TFTC Hurtle!

First of the day. A lovely stroll down the hill. Lots of sunshine and sour sobs. The last 2 meters were tackled with care and the cache was found at 0m. Very impressive.
Now where did we park the car?

A nice little heart starter. First of the day.
A walk in the park, with a pipe to guide you by. Follow the pipe – easy peezy.
Coords spot on. But the last few metres took a few minutes – decisions decisions. Of course it was the 50/50. Next spinner please.
Left a compass thermometer with wind chill calibrations. I daren’t look at that scale as I was very cool, even after the walk. But it was a down hill walk so that didn’t count!
The car was up - that a-way - at the end of the pipe.
Clear skies and TFTC, TeamAstro.
#2 in the series.
Climbed back up from Church Track and drove to another point to start the trek.
I never did find "Gate 1" but started from the swing bridge for a pleasant stroll upstream.

A great ramble up-river for this one and got the old walking boots slightly damp at the waterhole. Shall sleep well tonight after this sixth and final find of the day.
6th and final find during a gorge-ous day out caching with broken_hamish. Lots of water all the way up the creek, so the waterhole didn't look much distinct from the rest of it really! No swaps, and Miss Wibble doesn't like steep slopes and spends as little time on them as possible.
Not much water in the creek, but it was nice to see plenty of small fish thriving in the waterholes.
caching with zytheran, where is the water???? bit hot today but a nice spot.
cheers

Managed to bump the terrain up to 4.5 by going along the north side of the river from the church. This saga involved "tracks" used by small furry creatures and possibly lizards although to me they looked fine. Miss Jane and my muggle sister in-law will disagree I fear. We scaled hillsides, we climbed down cliffs, we went wading through thigh deep grass on a warm day in snake season, we clambered past box-thorn and other spiky things. However we didn't see any snakes. But we found the cache,on the other side of the river, and had a rest. TNLN.
Then it all went downhill as we attempted to get Porosa..Waterhole was the last cache I found for the year.

Really enjoyed this cache! Did a really nice round trip of about 4km which made for a great little adventure on a hot Sunday afternoon. From the swinging bridge NP entrance at Old Noarlunga walked in to find the cache. The river was not flowing due to our record dry winter. Being stagnant, there was some algae growth in the waterhole, but not enough to discourage me form a wonderfully refreshing swim (any further into the summer and it may have been another matter). Then followed the pipeline south up and out of the river gorge to meet Pigot Range Rd and back to Old Noarlaunga. Home was via Port Noarlunga for another swim to wash of any residual algae.
It was a choice between cold feet or wet feet. I almost chose the former but I wanted those co-ordinates so much that wet feet it was... and slosh, slosh, slosh, all the way home. Good hunting!
after a nice walk along the river we had a look around but when we saw a snake we were a bit more courtious about where we put our hands. great find with ds-fifty. Mini ds-fifty took blue water pistol and left purple bottle opener thanks.
After checking out the footbridge a few days before, we decided to walk in from there.
The path was there all the way, though there were some ups and downs!
During the hunt for GZ, I saw a snake out for a sunbake from its hidey hole. Decided not to feel for the cache!
After logging the find we headed back to the footbridge via the pipeline track, tea tree track and the Old Coach Road track.
A great day out giving us excellent views.
Thanks Hurtle. Your efforts here are commendable!

This was the 2nd of the series that we did and followed the river from the Church cache. From the map it appeared that there was a walking trail that would take us straight to it. We had planned to use this to grab the caches on foot over two days. Unfortunately, we were to discover that the track is simply (for the most) a line drawn on a map – It doesn’t correlate to anything on the ground, and we were forced to blaze a trail through some pretty impressive undergrowth. As it turned out, the journey to this one was relatively easy compared to the rest of our day. More about that in other logs . Arriving at GZ, we found it after a short search. Took patch and Geocoin and left 2 bottles of wine [^]. Thanks Hurtle
These are the type of geocaches that I love doing. Thanks. Alot of butterflys out at the moment.

Great cache thanks hurtle. Loved this spot so decided, although there aren't many restaurants around, to leave travel bug Swedish Chef. he has earned some nice quiet time in the bush after cooking for us for a week or so. Took matchbox car left TB.
Great loop track from the Footbridge, worth looking for Back Track on the way round......if you can find it!! Left Geocoin here, took supa bear. Thanks Hurtle.
Having read Four Fun's log we decided on a different approach. That being said it was a quick walk in and a long struggle back to the car. Saw a good looking fox and plenty of roos. Took travel bug Ecco Domani. LNSL Only one more to go before we have the coordinates for Feral Forest then onto the Gorge.
We also came in from the Church track side of the river and kept going until we found the crossing. Did look at an old tree about half way lying across the river but changed our minds, was there around 4.30 Took the spoon and left a frog and some sample packets. These are the type of cache I like nice walk in the bush thanks.
Had a very pleasant walk into this cache until I got to about 200m from GZ and decided I was on the wrong side of the river. Hint for other hunters - If your on the wrong side wait until you get very close to GZ to cross, it will be much easier and drier than what I did
That being said the cache was fairly quickly located and I was pleasantly surprised with a FTF.
Swapped a superball for a commemorative spoon.
Cheers Hurtle, This is a fantastic series. Thanks for all the effort you must have put in to set it up, it's greatly appreciated.
