Two men and a ladder set off early on Australia day to find 25 caches to satisfy The Unique Difficulty/Terrain Challenge. The ladder on the roof of the car was the noisiest of the bunch as the wind whistled through it every time we went above 80km/h. I must amid TOMBI did all of the pre-trip preparations by identifying caches that fulfilled the criteria and ensuring there were backups were we not able to find some of them. We headed towards Gloucester then over to Taree then finally back towards Newcastle. A good day was had by with only a few caches eluding us. I managed 26 unique Difficulty/Terrain caches whilst TOMBI managed 28 as he had already qualified for another challenge and I had found one previously that he hadn't.
Two sets of eyes looking for this one and we didn't have any luck. searched all of the nooks and crannies. i then checked the previous logs and informed TOMBI that it hadn't been found for a while with a couple of previous DNFs so we gave up and moved onto the next one on our list.

Today Orrsome86 and I set off to find a few challenge caches, while qualifying for a few others. The weather reports said there was a 90% chance of rain with 20-40mm expected. We set off anyway and it turned out to be a near perfect day for caching; Overcast with scattered light showers, we never had to put our raincoats on and were never too hot (well almost). I had formed a list of 35 unique difficulty and terrain combinations. We found 28 of them. Nearly all our successful finds were quick, but our DNFs always took longer. We left Edgeworth just before 6am and were back a little after 8pm.
This was our first DNF on our way up to Gloucester. We were not overly hopeful going off the last few logs, but thought we should check anyway. I love that the main road has this on it!

Easy one. TFTC. Angus the great GeoWestie assisted by grey nomad carer Lis Brown on a journey from Shepparton Vic to Geelong Vic then Coolah and Port Stephens in NSW and back to Shepparton before going to Tasmania.
Impressive I must say. we did wonder why they were here. great place for a cache too.

Find on the ground after looking ten min put back were I thought it should be Tftc
A well needed break on our way through. A quick find...the cache shouldn't accidentally escape from it's hide, a very neat fit! TFTC SuperMoosie.
Given the hint, Mr y'stassie was dispatched to look for this cache. Looking from a particular angle led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks for the cache SuperMoosie.
After a short break in the town I found this and kept travelling. Tftc and the history info.
This took us much longer than it should have!!!!
Thanks for the cache and the history!!!
Thanks for the cache and the history!!!
We have returned from Canada to discover a few more Australian caches! What a way to explore the "land down under".
Appreciate the history lesson, always nice to gain a little local knowledge!
Thanks for the fun SuperMoosie!

There's a company that did not want to come last in the phone book listings
I enjoyed the history contained within the cache notes before wandering over from the swimming pool carpark to see if the gates were open or closed today
Open !!
I doubt they could actually close these days.
My mark one eyeball suggested there may still be a major gap left if they were swung into position
At the gate I soon found a cache and also spied the "AA Co's" logo on the hinge
TFTC !!
PS: And if you stroll from this cache to the nearby brick throwing cache, you can admire more Aussie Agricultural history in the front yard of the house next to God's waiting room
They have a very nice Furphy on display

Found with "sesblocker".
This was certainly an easy find.
It would've interesting to see the gates closed across the road in it's day..

11:35:00 AM, GAFF1, Found by Geoson and I on our way to Gloucester for the weekend.
The gates were open for use today however it was not quite warm enough for a swim,
SL, Lid missing from container, log very fragile, looks like it may have been wet but dried out.

Think it was Friday night, tho it may have been just after midnight, that I found this container, as others have said, without its lid. Log was moist, but dry enough to write on.
Will hopefully be back this way, what with the Gloucester Event, and having to give the 'bro' a lift there.

Found film container, no lid, wet log, if the next finder has spare 35mm (rare these days of course) they could replace it. TFTC.
Found the container separated from the lid and thus the log was very wet. Tried to return the cache to its spot but without success. TFTC
Very interesting structure but what is amazing, is that this is being preserved. TFtC
Found this cache while heading north along the Thunderbolt Way. Fantastic set of gates.
Thanks SuperMoosie and Cheeseeeee2001 for the hide.

I've driven through Stroud for many years on my way to and from Gloucester - I can recall when these gates were built. I'd picked up all the caches around here a year ago but today we were back and there were a couple I'd missed since the last visit. This one gave us an excuse to examine the gates close up which I'd never done. Quite the squeeze in there for this one and the geoteen made a quick find. Signed and replaced.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Ding was not in the mood to be trekking around in the growing dark and was dragging his feet to the cache. Hoojar had it before we even got there.
Cheers.
Cheers.
Found on a long drive home from Armidale to Wollongong with Chip and Ding.
Now that is a large gate! An easy find in the growing darkness.

Months ago we tried to find this cache without success due to it being muggled, since then it has been replaced & re enabled, today we re visited & made a very quick find without attracting the attention our the nearby muggles in the pool. Nice simple hide & quick find.

On the way to Tamworth for Country Music Festival, staying with friends at Ogunbil, interesting gates, TFTC SuperMoosie!!
Found it on our way back home. Due for a break in driving. The history of the gate was avery interesting. TFTC.
Found on the way to Texas Qld. The old lady on the verandah at the community lodge must have wondered what I was up to. Many thanks.
Took at detour from my trip up to Hawkes next to replace the cache, unfortuantly the sign explaining the history of the gate has gone. There is a photo of it in the gallery. Also I could not get reception here to get the details of the other caches that are in town.

checked the hint, looked & looked but no luck today, will try again next time we go through this lovely area.
No problem finding this one. The cache was in good shape and nobody was watching us.
Dropped by to check. It is still there where I left it last. Log was dry but pages starting to fall out. Tidied up. All ok now
Have to say that I found this today as I was on my way home from the Gloucester Show with azza213 & hypo123 who have already found this cache and once I had a decent search, they searched for it and revealed that it HAS BEEN MUGGLED. NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. This is most likely due to the many locals that gather at the skatepark and have found this cache.
This should be quick we said as we pulled up. J was having a unfruitful look so A jumped out and landed the find. TFTC.
Found this cache on Australia Day on the way to a camping trip at Barrington Tops. A really hot day today and travelling without air conditioning is not cool. TNLN TFTC SuperMoosie.
TFTC good hide. Might need to fix the log book up as the pages are falling out. Nice country town. TNLNSL
We usually stop in Gloucester when traveling this road but it was nice to take a look at Stroud. Thanks.
As we arrived at GZ we spotted a couple of kids using the skate park, luckily they were not at all interested in what we were doing so with a litle stealth the cache was logged. Interesting history TFTC SuperMoosie. [832]
Found at 3.45pm GAFF1. Quit a unique structure - we haven't seen anything like this in any town we have been through. This is a very neat and interesting little town, which we are sure we will be visiting many times.
