Found 22/10/2007 @ 15:00

A great hide, although 3pm on a school day is not the ideal time to find this cache!

After returning to my car to update the log I was suddenly surrounded by many vehicles containing parental units, and had to move on to the next cache with log book still in hand. It would be two visits and 90 minutes later before the area was quiet enough for a return visit. Phew!

Took: Nothing
Left: Alien, Spare Pen

Thanks Romax.

Stood back and eyed off the possibilities - Mr P wearing his Hi Vis vest - to be less conspicuous! Goods in hand quickly. What a NEAT cache! No'150 for us.

Your a clever one romax! Spent most of the 20mins at GZ looking at something else (which i wonder if it was intended!), then all of a sudden.. I had my hands on it! Much to the amazement of mobiledaws! Very nice and sneaky cache Romax!! TFTC

Thanks Romax. Very good hide. We were convinced it was in another place near by. T-Reez found eventually.

[175] 8.30pm - with cdmark driving and GeoJnr watching - We {Team GraMon} did attempt this one in daylight on a busy day for our 43rd cache but there was too much traffic about to be successful then, especially when a man shouted at us from a car!, Sad This time in the dark we {Team GraMon} had much more luck and it was found quickly by Mon and she didn't even drop it!! All the while cdmark & GeoJnr stayed in the car only shouting out one suggestion at an appropriate time which I will not post here Smile TFTC Romax - a clever one - Cheers

Found it on a weekend trek around town after a 2nd visit and a sanity check with Romax. I had heard this was one of the more difficult ones and I would have to agree. Evil & mean and nasty too. I was going to come back in the dark but then got brave and went for it. Great one, I must admit.
Took cards & left a Care Bear bag,
ThanX Romax,

We'd heard this one was well worth a visit. Pity it was so icy cold today.
Had a look, then retired to the jalopy to avoid the wind, warm up and re-read the cache notes.
Back to GZ and another decent look had the cache in hand. Very clever, and much larger than we thought could be hidden in such an area.

3/23 for our Bendigo visit, there was so much talk about this one at the Central Victorian Gathering that it had to go to the top of the list. Was found easily enough but getting it into the open was proving a difficulty. The forces against us were finally overcome and the riches were ours. Thanks again Romax.

well here i am driving along with Karen closing in on ascot gz when hello what is this 2 car loads of muggles little ones big ones all sorts looking very intrested in what they had in the rear of thier geomoblie. Knowing that they could only be here for one reason and of corse the dead give away a gps hanging from ones neck. A stop was made and the window rolled down these muggles where not as much muggles but Rhinogeo and the facit family themselves after introductions and a chat. I headed of to a park close by for 10mins while the cache was rehiden. On return i notice the cache fairly quickley but due to the endless stream of traffic retreval was pain stakingly long. While we waited guess what a check up from Rhinogeo and Facit going pass another brief conversation and they were on thier way. The cache was great amazing how one can hide a 5l container and still make it a testing search thanks Romax and nice to have meet you Rhinogeo and the Facit family no doubt our paths will cross again

07-Apr-07
Found by Facitman and the Facit-Family in the company of Rhinogeo on our Bendigo Bonanza Easter Weekend at 15:16
Well, we were confused on arrival at GZ, not only by the location but how could you hide a 5 litre container here, but by the presence of 4 muggle adults wandering around GZ with stubbies and a clipboard. They wandered across the road and eventually wandered off. Our search was aborted due to the Muggles but after they left we returned for a more intensive search until Facitman came up with the goods. Very happy that the muggles had left at this point as retreating to the nearby Rhinomobile for swaps was not a subtle activity. While swapping a suspicious car approached and even though we tried to ignore them it was soon obvious that we were caught when a voice called out "Do you know someone called Romax". The voice belonged to Silver Dice who drove off for a few minutes after a chat so we could rehide the cache and give them a clean search.

Took: Elephant purse
Left: Pinball Game and LED Torch
Grabbed Minimise's Generic Geocoin

Another excellent Romax hide, thanks!! Big Grin

07-Apr-07
Found 200704071516 Smile. Malby the GeoHound stayed in the car while I approached GZ with Facitman & the Facit-family. Upon arrival we were very conscious of the muggles hanging around nearby who seemed to be on some sort ofscavenger hunt, abd were eyeing us with suspicion [:o]. After they left, we returned to GZ and theh cache was soon in hand Smile

While we were waiting for an opportunity to replace the cache a car pulled up and the driver asked if we knew anyone called "Romax" [:p]. It was Silver Dice!! We chatted for a few minutes then sent him for a drive around the block to allow him to "find" the cache properly.

4stubbies and two furry four legged friends went to locate this one. You nearly had us this time Romax but patience won the day. Very busy spot lots of muggles but with the cache in hand we were smiling again. Thanks Romax keep up the good work.

We went, We Looked and Looked to no avail.
A car screeched its tires at the highway and crashed hard into another car.
I think I saw the cache but wasn't game to have a look as there were a lot of onlookers.
I will need to try this again some time.
Curse you Romax you beat me every time bar one today.

As Chewin' said, the beans had been spilled on this particular cache. We did spend some time admiring it though - nice job.
Being inconspicious Chewin' accidently dropped the lot with a large clatter, bad timing as the school was just getting out. Smile
Thanks, Robmc.

An easy find thanks to an inadvertant tip off by a previous finder. Another very clever one. Makes me wonder how you even found the hiding place, let alone constucting the hide.
Thanks Romax, again.

04-Mar-07
Another one we had to come back for on a second attempt (seems like a habit in Bendigo) Smile. Far too many muggles around during the day and an awkward spot not to be caught out in. Thank goodness I did one of Romax's earlier in the day as I had to call on the lateral brain cells for this one. What an excellent cache! We can't wait to head back to Bendigo to check out a few more. TFTC Romax.

5th find of 6 for the day.5.15pm.
Went with GeoLochie and we actually found this one fairly easily. I must be getting into the Romax mindset!!! Walked up and looked in the first place I thought of, and found it!! Just lucky I suppose!

Took:Block car, Left:ball + Fozzycard
Thanks for the high standards set Romax, it ensures the sport will retain the challenge!!

Found with Farmers5 on a caching weekend. He had heard great things about this one so there was some anticipation here. I think we were both a bit surprised when we got to gz but there you go! Things are rarely as you imagine them. There were no muggles around and I am pleased to say that after a few short minutes I managed to figure this one out using some careful observation, thinking, and physical testing. A very clever piece of work I must say and a pleasure to find. Coordinates were very good as we were to continue to find all weekend. TNLN and much thanks to Romax for a great hide.

13-Jan-07
Arrived at GZ on a quiet Saturday morning and was expecting a train station location for some reason. At gz ,knowing the cache size was large ,it just had to be here somewhere. No trains and no muggles helped things and after a few minutes it was Alansee who spotted something unusual around the area! With the goods revealed and bookwork completed,it proves you can just about fool all the people, anywhere, anytime and anyplace with a brilliant tactic and this one fell into that cateogory!Well done on an idea that will stump many to follow. Thanks to Romax.

4th on my foray into Bendigo for the day, found at 12:10pm. A very clever way to hide such a large cache and very accessible. I was thankfull for school holidays and very little traffic while I searched. TNLN. I left this cache asking myself "Am I ready for Bendigo ? Will my Kung Fu be strong enough ?

Found @ Noon

An ingenious hide, our compliments to Romax.

We had my Dad and my son James all wandering around while I (knowing where it was) stood back and watched them get warmer and colder. (Penny thought it was too exposed and stayed in the car.)

T: Small stamper
L: Screwdriver and a Canteen Bandanna

Thanks Romax for the cache.

24-Dec-06
Another Romax cache we almost gave up on, but we finally found without the assistance of any hints. The most challenging part of this cache is avoiding the passing muggle traffic - it is a very exposed site! TNLN (no time/opportunity to even look at the cache contents!) TFTC.

17-Dec-06
I couldn't find this. I have only just noticed that it's a 5 litre container. That would have changed the serach pattern a bit.

The PVC pipe up the power pole is used to hold fuses for the power lines, I think.

I'll have to try this again.

Thanks anyway.

Well we again needed a hint for this tricky one. quite a good cache very tricky. it took us three goes and a hint.

Thanks again Romax

Third visit, and with some very helpful hints, was able to find no problem. The amount of effort put in is fantastic. Took: Mini CD, Left: Lego Car (and a 'found it' token). Had to wait 10min for muggles to clear before returning it from the car. Thanks Romax.

05-Oct-06
Finally! I found it. I've been staying in the nearby CP and have driven or walked past it several times a day. The first morning, our youngest awoke at 6:00am and so a stroll in the morning air was in order to not wake the rest of the family.
I really want to know what is in the PVC pipe - but that is not relevant.
I have prodded and poked, walked in the creek, investigated nearby bushes and drains. If there's a possible hide, I reckon I've touched it during the week.
In absolute frustration during a last minute, late night investigation, I sent an email plea to Romax for a spoiler clue. And wouldn't you bet, not 30 seconds after I hit send, did I discover the secret which was obvious all along! (grrr Smile )
BTW - this is a very busy spot! It is hard enuf to find the cache but I must have crossed the trackes over 50 times trying to look like I was just walking somewhere!
Took flower arrangement and left worm.

20-Sep-06
At first we were a little apprehensive of this one as we don't normally have anything to do with a cache in this type of location. Before I started looking around we called the ever helpful Romax to ensure that we were in the correct location, and asked regarding the size of the container (without hints), as we did not know what size we were looking for. After learning of a 5 litre size, then waiting for a passer by to do just that, it took us about 3 minutes to find the cache. We think having found some Romax caches already, made this one even easier. A well executed cache hide, very well done Romax.
Took: kids watch, and pin, Left: Recorder, Self inking Whale stamp, Battery holder, & Diary. Thanks again Romax

This cache is by far the best cache that i have done so far. I feel so proud that i didn't have to use the romax hotline. There were many mugglers about and still didnt get caught.

A clue from Romax meant success this time. Last time their were church muggles about, today sub teen ones. However between traffic gave me the chance to reveal this ingenious hide. thanks romax

26-Aug-06
To try and complete this covert operation I had one anxious inspection and at least 3 to 4 drive-byes over a couple of weeks to recce GZ as it was alway a high traffic area - but the mission remained unsolved. Bravo Delta Hardy wanting to recognize the milestone of our 50th find (no not in a weekend, but in total) took us back to the LZ (landing Zone)and supplied additional hints and remained on point for obs for incoming. With the RV(Rendezvous) identified and the Cache in hand we quickly retreated to the LUP (Laying up point)for a laugh and inspection of goods and completing the log. Sure had us going. Thanks Romax

20-Aug-06
I looked everywhere for this one. Pick up family even drove by and gave me a clue but no cigar this time. Off to some other caches to recover confidence.

12-Aug-06
Found at 1.20 pm GAFF4. This was an exasperating find. We discounted a whole lot of possible locations because of the rules. Eventually we called dak who told us where a good spot to look was This turned out to be a bit iffy for us, but the method used by Romax was brilliant. Well done. tn/ln.

06-Aug-06
What can one say about this cache but this is truly one of the best hides I have ever seen. Reading the previous logs didnt offer any clues and with only several choices for its location certain elements have the cacher pondering.
After conceeding defeat we contacted Romax and with a valuable clue the cache was found and logged.
This would rate as the number 1 cache hide to date, and leaves one wondering how.
Many thanks Romax for the cache and your hospitality over the weekend, we had a lot of fun and look forward to visiting Bendigo again.
Regards Mr.Coffee and the "unbelievable" Clan.

26-Jul-06
Visited this cache site 4pm on Sunday afternoon, couldn't believe just how many mugglers why around. Today was my third visit, with a clear run I soon sussed out the cache and quickly retreated to a safe spot to inspect the contents and sign log. Thanks Romax for yet another challenging cache.

Faaannnntassstic cache. I must admit I did want to climb the pole even though you said not to Wink. What can I say, we're REBELS. Eric found the cache at 1330. What a fantastic find. Now we know why we are all part of the Rebel Alliance. We each have our own skills. Muzza the driver, DAK the computer whizzzzz, A2YG (very good at finding hard caches) and me you ask???? Hey I'm their comic sidekick, got to have one of those in every group.
Thanks for the cache.

Eighth of Twenty finds on a wet, windy, cold and can someone tell us why we do this day's caching day with Dak’s Emu Mob, Kiwideb, and Muzza. Well well what have we hear, I had brought my trusty I can’t say out of the car and I used it to reveal the cache location: For a minute I was sure Deb was going to put Dak and Muzza on her shoulders to check out another location. Thanks Romax great work.

FINALLY!!! (Hallelujah chorus playing in the background.)

On the FOURTH visit of various combinations of Pickupfamily members (including Heathcote Grandma) we finally came away happy. Pickupfamily Mum will now be able to sleep at night without having nightmares of barren open spaces with no apparent hiding place for a large cache.

Tonight with the kids happily tucked in bed at the Heathcote Grandparent's, after Christmas in July celebrations, the Pickupfamily Parents decided to have one last go, so headed out in the dark and the rain just after 9. Armed with hints from Spruce Mooses, we were sure this would be our last visit.

It did take us until 10.50 to get to the cache, and we did fall into the same trap as the Mooses, even despite expecting it! And we'll tell the story of why it took so long to those who want to know, but don't want to give anything away here.

Glad to have this one finally behind us. TNLN due to current modifications to the cache. Thanks Romax!

The Alliance was out in force today with four members present. So this is another find for The Rebel Alliance. L.L.T.R.A

Another fantastic Romax hide had us perplexed for quite some time, until A2YG sussed it out. In keeping with the request in the cache, we didn't sign any log or bit of paper, but did take one of the Bendigo guides. Thanks again, for another brilliantly hidden cache.

Eighth of seventeen finds on a rainy, cold day's caching in and around Bendigo with acts2youthgroup, Kiwideb, and Muzza. We had read the logs, so we approached this one with much apprehension. Kiwideb thought that she had discovered it within 10 seconds of arriving at GZ, however, one of the logs says "no special athletic skills or tools are required". Hmmmmm! Time to look harder. Once again, Acts2YG saved our bacon by making the find at 1320 after about ten minutes of searching. Owing to apparent problems with the cache, there were no swaps or log book in the cache, so I made no exchange. We did grab a Bendigo tourist book though (that proves that we did actually find it, by the way Smile). Thanks to Romax for yet another fiendishly well constructed and camouflaged cache. My comment on leaving GZ was: "How does he find these places!"

30-Jun-06
This was to be our second last cache for the day on our night assault of the legendary Bendigo caches. Unfortunately the master had us searching for quite a while here. Even at 23.30 there were quite a lot of muggles about this location to slow our progress. The container was found but to our surprise it was empty!!! A laminated card held the story and a phone call to Max the next day explained every thing. We realise this has been a bit of a problem cache for Romax but we really hope it stays on line.

Again our thanks for all your devious caches tonight. If there was a King or Queen of caching you would have to be Knighted for your services to this sport.

Adam has come past this cache, and even mapped it before for work. If only he'd had his caching stuff with him. Very clever hide. Shelly thought it was a lot higher than that until Adams intimate knowledge of the object proved her wrong. Took recipe cards and left bracelets and Gizmo's dog collar TB. Thanks Romax for the awesome hide.

This is rumoured in Bendigo as being a very hard cache to find. Just look at all the big names in the logs who have not found it yet.. So we had to resort to thinking outside the square. After some searching, we got an idea as to where it might be located, and it was there after all.

Well done Romax. Certainly very sneaky. This was a fitting place to leave TB Redcat, ready to travel again.

Logged at 15:00.

In Kangaroo key ring and TB Redcat.

Out blue magnetic clip.

Thanks again to Romax.

Found by Mary & David at 1325. What can we say? Words almost fail us. Where on earth can you hide such a large container around here? Have we got the coordinates right? Hang on - this is a Romax cache. Checked out the most likely possibilities carefully and spotted something. A bit more investigation and the cache was revealed. The usual Romax professional camo. Just amazing! Luckily, not many people passing, too. Took bottle opener, left pack of recipe cards. Our thanks to Romax once more.

ROMAX ROMAX ...MAX you sneaky #@#**@##**& .
Knowing your style and cunningness I knew it was in one of three spots...20 mins later on the phone asking do I need a ladder?..."NO, NO you don't need any tools either."

??? Mmmmm then it must be...yes, that's it...I did have a small hassle in removal, but no tools are needed. In fact, it's so accessible I think it's possible as a wheelchair cache.

Thank you for the time you put into your hides.

Signed log, left small monster and took nothing.

PS] It's not at ground level and you're not in danger.

Well this took us several visits partly because of the muggle activity and partly because we couldn't find the damn thing.

For future searchers - the difficulty rating is spot on and no special athletic skills or tools are required.

When we finally located it - it was a case of well it couldn't really be anywhere else. DOH.

Sneaky sneaky Max

Found at 4:38pm. Found accompanied by GeoDano and the GeoMrs as navigator and scribe. Last find of for the day.Decided to get a few while on the way to visit family (doesn't everyone?). Thought we'd pick up (pardon the punn) where the pickupfamily left off and bag this one. Easier said than done, we were left scratching our heads for some time. Then after a call or two to the Romax helpline, armed with some clues and a considerable search time later we discovered yet another diabolicaly cunning Romax hide, with the added satisfaction of being first to the post. A 100 % success rate day and another FTF, can't get better than that. Unfortunately as we had to get to our family some time today this was the last find for the day. Ah well, it's a non work day tomorrow, whatever will I do?
In: mondo (about time I put one in and what better place than a Romax cache)
Out: smiley (because I'm very happy) and the FTF prise.
Signed log. Thanx Romax......Big Grin

I might need tools for this one,

Dear Romax,

We couldn't stay for long in Bendigo but we saw that there were a couple of new Romax ones so we decided to make them our first and only ports of call. We got to GZ and could only find things that looked either too dangerous to attempt to touch or too high. I wouldn't mind seeing something in the cache notes to rule these out. We will wait and see how things go by our next visit.

Kind regards,

D,H,K & A B-A

Tried again today after speaking to Romax, still no luck! Somebody else's turn, we're looking forward to hearing from others..

We think we know found it, but didn't manage to get at it, with all the muggles around. Looks like a good challenge.
