Sorry Alfyboy
These are one of my top priorities and I've only just returned from interstate. A reconnaissance is being planned with Slaytornator.

20-Jun-13
How was the long weekend akkatracker, did you get out to check this cache? Was planning on getting over there in the next few days. Wanted to see if it was ready to go, please.

05-Jun-13
Hmmm I've been slack haven't I
Will try to make it down this Monday (public holiday) as I will be in the area.
Once cache is confirmed missing I'll decide what to do.

04-Jun-13
Maybe time to archive and get a fresh cache in the area.

30-May-13
Any update on this one akkatracker? It's been 10 weeks disabled.

12-Mar-13
Back in the area today, this time armed with a gardening glove and a coat hanger prod went hunting for Chilla.
Spent half an hour searching - no luck. Then this woman turned up with 2 dogs and spent another 10 minutes helping me hunt for "my dogs lost ball". Definitely couldn't find anything. She thought the area was well cleaned up on Clean Up Oz Day so as there was no rubbish the "lost ball" should be easily found. So maybe the cache has been "cleaned away."
Can you please check akkatracker. I'll come back if I know its there. J

12-Mar-13
Pending cache check

04-Mar-13
Too many Muggles around to bag this one. A 7 a side soccer tournament was on the go at one end and driver training at the other so did not want to risk compromising the cache. Lat week in Aus so probably unable to go back on a quieter day. TFTC

07-Feb-13
With a cop parked on the side of the street and 3 games going at once I decided to walk past this one. Nice park though...thanx

18-Jan-13
Looked hard no cache

26-Dec-12
Managed to get plant spikes in hands but a definite DNF.

Found location, looked a little, then figured out vertical units in two directions. Searched based on this, no luck.

Read clue and recent logs, searched again based on palm and other hints, no luck.

Checked photos, found a helpful one near palm, went here, confirmed spot and really searched carefully with thin arms, still no luck. Is it buried or muggled or just really difficult?

Did a few more counts with different starting points and criteria, still no luck.

Will try again after someone else finds this.

06-Dec-12
6/12/12 8:07 AM. Not actually a DNF today; more a CNA (could not attempt) - a gardener was weeding about 20m away and making his way towards gz. He's either going to make finding this a lot easier or could muggle it. I'll have to come back another day; "Snugglepot and Cuddlepie" just became my quarry for a streak-saver.

06-Dec-12
6/12/12 2:00 PM. Cache #284. Current streak: 88 days. 6 hours made all the difference. Had to sit out a muggle soccer game (one player had his bag where I wanted to search). When they left, I jumped the fence. I can confirm that you do not have to do this, but it made searching much, much quicker. TFTC akka.

23-Nov-12
We came at a low muggle time and started out in the open to get some good readings and bearings before walking over to GZ. We also did the count and was the hide was very close with the right starting point. It did take a while to make the find under the camo but we got there and the GPSr said 2m. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC

23-Nov-12
Well this ones obviously still there. Thanks BAW
Am considering bumping up difficulty

16/11/12. 8:28 AM. A DNF today, but I was here more on a "reccy" mission than a serious search. Counted 214 vertical units from a likely starting spot and GPS confirmed I was close (9m). Tried popping something up, but it's obviously not one of those. 30 or so more vertical units S (the hint did say my MMD) and I spied Baktrak's palm tree. Poked around in the ground cover near that, thru the fence, but nothing came up. Rain stated coming down heavier, even under all the figs, so I bailed for a later assault.

No luck with this one pills123 and Mary had a good look . Football game going on in the area so perhaps it was in that area will try next time

11-Oct-12
Too hard for me this time, but I'll be back.

19-Sep-12
I know what the 214 vertical units are, found the spot began feeling around for cache and OUCH!!

Cut my hand badly on broken glass. Sad That stopped my caching for the day as I could not stop the bleeding. Sad

BEWARE cachers of the small privot with its glass roots.

22-Aug-12
Found while driving by today. Needed a hint hint after a dnf once before. Tftc

30-Jul-12
I'm sure give a little longer and when the park is not full of people doing rugby practice, I will find it.
I know I was very close with all the clues but just looked too suspicious so disappeared off to the next cache.
Sad

09-Jul-12
A favourite park when I was much younger. There were no fences then, so you could climb the figs and jump into the creek/channel. According to the signs, they call that trespassing nowadays.
This was almost a DNF, until I looked just a bit further. The hint is relative and my mileage did differ, so was no help. I'd say if your not near a palm or you have fat arms, you won't find it.
I knew there was a connection between Anderson Park and "Chilla". I'd thought it might have been to Keith Anderson, who perished with Bobby Hitchcock, while searching for CK-S. But that was five years earlier. So, I enjoyed reading about the true connection. TFTC

Tried various approaches, but DNF for us. Will keep an eye on this one and try again in the future if we see it is found again. Thanks anyway!

This was a case of FTF. Fluke to find Wink once I was in on the field searching, it was the first place I actually looked! Thank god for that as it was raining and the rest of the Browngang were waiting in the car. Cheers from Browngang.

Could have been #263. Touch footy in progress. Everybody around gz. Probably not a lunch time cache to search for. Cheers.

20-May-12
We found it... eventually Razz
I must have emailed the CO ten times while attempting this as we just had no clue.
The GPS was jumpy - one moment it pointed us at a sign - the next, on the fence 20 metres away. [xx(]
We only found it after narrowing down which side of the fence it was on, what the camo was, where approximately it was etc., though we did seem to take a while to find it. I can't see how someone could find it without these millions of clues!
Anyhow nice park and history, and thanks akkatracker for letting us turn the DNF into a find! [^]
CO - maybe you should change the hint to make it more suitable

16-Apr-12
Running my fingers along the vertical units, I stopped when I spotted a spider. Gulp.
(I must have put my fingers in the wrong place.)

Peeked everywhere for over 20 mins, and had to call quits.
Gahh-

07-Mar-12
Had the hint figured out immediately, but then realized distance depends on where you start as well as where you end. Endured a lot of frustration for almost an hour, then broke my silence by exclaiming "I quit"--only to spot the cache literally one second later. Then I went back and figured out the hint's starting point, and it does make some sense, I guess. There was a broken plastic container very close to GZ, which gave me some pause, but fortunately it wasn't the cache. Thanks for keeping this one going, akkatracker!

15-Feb-12
A quick read of the logs after disregarding the Hint as too cryptic and I found the cache in just a few mins. Still no idea what the Hint means, and if you find yourself stumped then maybe the attached photo will help.
TFTC CptnKase :-]

UPDATE: In hindsight, the photo may have been a little too obvious so I will leave you with only the hint that I could take a photo while sitting next to the cache as I watched a cricket match (no need to climb a fence!).

Searched, went for coffee, searched again, bingo!
A tricky cache in a nice park.
Thanks Geomatica and akkatracker!

20-Jan-12
DNF'd this today and was a bit stumped. I could get a bearing from the cricket pitch but no find. Need a clue for my next visit so I can turn that frown upside down.

After wandering the area for quite some time, eventually found the cache's hiding spot. Still have no idea what the clue means though. TFTC!

Quite tricky to find as this was my second attempth and my "smartphone" was pointing me to the other side of the field. With Mahout_'s help who told me that the cache is on the other side I found the cache very quickly. Thanks for bringing me here.

Small anniversary, this is my 150th cache.

Took far too long to find this one. Went back and forth between various spots, even after deciphering the clue. Eventually made the find. Thanks to all involved in keeping this cache going.

I stumbled around in the dark for a while, looked at the hint, still no luck. Looked all over the place and found lots of spiders but not much else. Then read back through the logs, something clicked and I quickly had it in hand. Sneaky!

06-Nov-11
Nice hide, TFTC.

05-Nov-11
Smile Nice little cove at the end of the end of the cricket field. The clue is just too obtuse to be useful... get a good bearing/distance from an open area.

Found after a long search, while the thunder rumbled ominously overhead! Found on a birthday weekend away from Melbourne. Found with Epicmac

Understood the clue but could not find a date. There were a lot of muggles in the park so I could not give it the thorough search it deserved. Drats, two DNF's for the day!

A quick find as the rest of the team waited in the Urban Assault Vehicle, they were worn out after a very busy few days in Sydney. A very peaceful location, nicely muggle free. Thanks to La Perouse, Geomatica and akkatracker for the cache.

After dropping off the family for the fun run this morning I still had time to sneak in a couple of finds before picking them up over the other side.Parked the Pgeomobile across at the Cafe and walked down to GZ from the grass area pointer had a good fix and we arrived at GZ with my Geo son saying dad there it is I can see it we had CIH fast sat over on the sandstone and completed the paper work.Found contents safe and dry.

July 26, 2011

The sports field was empty when I got there this morning. Followed a previous cacher's advice to stay under the open sky until GPSr becomes more stable. Honed in on GZ. But unfortunately, didn't find the cache. Tried to make sense of the hint, but it was challenging like some of the puzzle caches I've cracked. And still wasn't able to make anything out of it. Sent a "lifeline", hopefully when I get more information to help in finding this one, I'd definitely come back and look for it to change this DNF to a smiley. Thanks for taking me here.

#181 With the help of Dancing_Man, I was able to finally find this cache. Still couldn't make out the hint since my count was not the same, but then it stated as a disclaimer "Your Mileage May Differ". Glad that Dancing_Man provided a more helpful hint, and now I can change this DNF to a smiley. TFTC!

Didn't get what the clue meant and didn't know if we were even in the right spot. (we were where the gps said, but gpses aren't always accurate. Didn't see any plane either. Will come back another time and see if we can figure something out.

A sporty afternoon for the schoolkids found me wandering about like a local lurker; thought about the logical places to hide a cache (luckily there weren't that many options) and soon had CIH. Thanks geomatica!

Nice hide! Found by novice cacher friend.

23-Mar-11
After school was a silly time to come! As a teacher at a local school you would think I would know better. There were kids practicing football with a viewing dad sitting right near the cache. Fortunately he was watching the boys, not me so I could creep up and snag the cache without being seen. TFTC

20-Mar-11
Standing in the open and using compass plus distance then using the hint had the cache in hand. Tftc. Loved the hide.

01-Mar-11
There were some people having a picnic, so I couldn't look for it that long. I might give it another try sometime.

26-Jan-11
After a Gig by the North Pylon of the bridge I decided to grab a cache or two. The GPSr was all over the place (including across the road). Decided to get out of the heat and cool off under the trees and watched a big family gathering having a go at cricket (with their tinnies in hand). Such an Aussy thing to do on Australia Day.
Wandering around I noticed something out of the ordinary and sat down with my back to it pretending to watch the cricket (Big family nearby). Reached behind me and Bingo! How lucky was that?
Did the deeds and dropped off a TB that fitted.
The clue now makes sense DoH!

Had glanced at the previous logs for this one before so I knew it wasn't going to a grab and run job. After leaving Victoria Cross managed to get a bit lost trying to get to here. Found we were about to go over the Harbour Bridge but managed to jump the median strip to get to the right road.

Thought we had the clue worked out and while I tried to get a decent GPS reading TLM Junior did the counting. Unfortunately we were too narrow minded in our thinking and kept using the same search procedure around where we though we should be looking.

Finally used a PAF who verified we were in the right spot but just not looking hard enough there. Another GM cache bites the dust.

Ha! Finally found it!
Have been stopping in at the park when I have been passing by off and on for the last couple of years, today was the first occasion that there were no people anywhere in the park to distract from the hunt. First pass through the zone and I saw the cache peeking out from its hiding spot. It is good to the able to tick this one off after it has been eluding me for so long.

I'm thinking that following the thread of this cache I might look at placing a cache near the grave of Keith Anderson who died searching for the Southern Cross when it went missing.

Weather was bad enough to affect the GPS reception & I couldn't get a fix within 30 metres of GZ. After about an hour wandering about I had a brain storm regarding the clue & had the cache in hand within minutes.
I had to rush off to work immediately after & forgot to take the obligatry (menage a'moi) photo.
Thanks La Perouse for the essay, and thanks Geomatica for keeping the cache alive.

OK, this time we got it. Much easier without two games of junior cricket in progress but still a challenge. We employed a few different techniques. Looking high, looking low. Examining anything and everything. Amazing what you can find on what seems simply a field of grass. We even started to walk in a search and rescue grid pattern when all of a sudden GZ just became clear. Great camouflage! We are still puzzled by the meaning of the clue. Any hints, La Pa or Geomatica? TNLN SL TFTC Cheers..........Gaztek

13-Mar-10
Just too many cricket muggles out there this morning for us to conduct a decent search. Came back home to read the logs and aren't really any the wiser but will make another visit at a quieter time. However must warn other geocachers of a dangerous feature in the area. Mr Gaztek is sporting a bump in the middle of his forehead. That's what happens when you walk along the footpath head buried in the caching notes and run straight into a street sign. I heard the thud behind me and just couldn't believe it. Fortunately he's fine if a little sheepish - another geocaching lesson learned!! Cheers........Gaztek

There are a couple of geocoins in the cache. Please move them along.
All good things must come to an end. La Perouse is in his seventies and increasingly "wellness challenged". So I'm going to archive my remaining 12 (?) caches on 4th April, 2010, the day that NSW Daylight saving ends. Any cacher who would like to takeover this cache or other caches, please contact me. Meanwhile, I've removed the premium rating. Enjoy them whilst you can!

Tested new site - just did not work. Too damp. Cache now close to old site. Took GPS reading, but unreliable accuracy, and only +-15m; all those wet trees. I paced GZ at 4 metres SE of old position (hint has been adjusted to reflect this)

07-Feb-10
As most Sydney residents know, it has been raining "felines & canines" for a week or so. My own rain gauge (not too far away) recorded 150 mm (6 inches?) in the last 36 hours. New cache site is particularly vulnerable to water runoff, so I thought I'd wait. (It's a real pain - about 6 out of my 16 operational Sydney caches are "rain struck".) BUT "Chilla's Chance" will go Gold within next ten days. I hope...
