What a cool.spot! Pretty soggy today so enjoyed a brief period of time out of the rain!
I'm so glad we did this properly and solved the mystery before going to the destination to retrieve with the mini caches. It's a spot that we've always needed an excuse to visit, and we love how caches can be hidden in these places. Tftc.
Out and about on another crisp Wellington morning. Nice hide, all in good order. Had to have a think about direction in order to find the right place. Love this neck of the woods. A few Paradise Shellducks making a racket, but otherwise no special birdies around this morning. TFTC OB/SAROC
Had ignored this one yesterday as didn't think we'd have time to visit any more in the area but realised I could solve it easily so had it in hand "just in case". Had a short opportunity to pop out this evening while Mrs T was packing for our move Tomorrow and was pleased to make a quick find.Note: there is a nest right by the cache - not in use at present but may be again next spring so might be worth shifting corners?)TFTC
#391.I managed to stitch this puzzle up using my eyes. To my surprise I got it first shot I looked at this one. Collected today and would of brought my gum boots had I known the water was up high overcoming the bridge path. Feet got drenched yuck. Warning when the water is high bring boots lol.TFTC.
Nice easy find after solving the puzzle. Cache was ably protected by what appears to be a mouse nest (fortunately abandoned). Extracted, signed log and returned the cache and nest to their hiding spot.
Done the puzzle over the weekend and picked it up this afternoon.
I believe I found it on the wrong side and moved it according to the hint.
Birds were out but won't post pictures as it would be a large location giveaway.
Cheers.

I have sorted the puzzle ages ago, but I had to PAF as I did not note things down Nice walk to the final. TFTC!!
Came back here today to do the nearby lab cache series, and grab a couple more caches in the area. This was a nice quick solve and an easy find at the GZ, very cool, left a TB, cheers
Solved this a while back, thought we’d grab it whist in the area doing the adventure lab. Great stroll around this area.
Thanks!
Thanks!
What a lovely walk just on dusk, tide out - beautiful. The birdlife were making their presence known. No hoomans anywhere. What could be better? A fave from me.
My nephew helped retrieve this one.
A great family cache - has room for small swappables. All tucked away again. TFTC

I had some old school fun with this puzzle. Catching up with a friend today for a walk and doing some caching at same time. This had me puzzled for a bit my co-ords were a bit off and i prioritised co-ords over hint - sometimes you need to go the other way Great fun searching with a friend. TFTC - great fun and fav for that.
I was to leave on the late afternoon sailing across the ditch so had a bit of time to go walking at Pauatahanui.
I timed it right with the tides.
Cheers for the cache.

Has been on my list for a while now. Did a mission to find this one and another which has also been on the list for a while.
Enjoyed the view.

Found out with TharntheHalken on a windy morning! High tide made things tricky to access GZ. All good in cache, though. Tftc!
I've had this one in the solved basket for a very long time, but never seem to have the time to stop and get it.
Today was a much more leisurely day, so we enjoyed our stroll to GZ, which was clear of muggles so we were free to search without issue's
Thanks for putting this here and bringing us to this awesome place

On my way to Palmerston North to catch up with my family. I left work at 3pm (Yay! Glide time!) and even so it was 7:30 when I arrived. Yeah, sure, a large part of that was the traffic, but I also spent quite a bit of time here. Speaking of which all the CITOs that happen here seem be doing awesome work - not a skerrick of rubbish anywhere. Or where they planting CITOs?
Anyway, there are a bunch of reasons I was after a cache - I am working on a streak (and finding one here means I save the ones near home for later) I am also working on my puzzle dot-days, and I had earlier found a challenge caches requring a ten day puzzle streak. So here I am, finding a puzzle cache.
Boy this took a while! Not many places to hide a cache, yet I missed it three times before I found it. Partly because it felt like cobwebs. Ick.
Anyway, Like the place, like the hide, like the approaches. Cache is nice and dry, and big enough for a path tag, so it gets a favourite. And a path tag!

Few birds out today. Thanks for bringing me to the location on a good walk. Tftc.
(# 5501). This afternoon I decided to grab a handful of caches in he Porirua area. I solved this ages ago and finally came here to grab it. A quick find as everything was quiet. Everything in order. TFTC
Great fun solving this puzzle. Great excuse for a family walk. Kids loved spotting the birds.
Team GST (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ) got together again for another caching trip. This time with a focus on finding all the Porirua Kiwi GeoTrail. We had a lovely drive around the area over 8 hours in which I found 70 caches. The parking at times was quite tricky and crossing the busy road was even worse but we all ended the day mostly unharmed (except for a few scratches from gorse).
#34 of 70 today. I enjoyed solving this puzzle with my 5 yr old. We love the puzzles that you can do on paper, like a craft, and just work them out without any super hero googling skills required. As we wondered towards GZ we met a birdwatcher right at the position the hint told us to go to so after a quick explanation of what we were doing he politely moved over for us to search. Fortunately Gr33nslime spotted it quickly when she came in as myself and TwigNZ had the wrong idea about this hide.

# 1571 Team GST has assembled again (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ), for another caching mission. Mission for today was to finally finish the Porirua Kiwi, something I had solved about 5 years ago and have slowly worked towards finishing. Today would bring an end to that work.
This was was a purely opportunistic find for today as we were literally going to be walking past it. I had solved this one a long time ago and have just been waiting for the opportunity to present itself. A lovely we walk to a nice quiet little spot and very tidy container (surprised it hasnt been muggled to be honest!) There was one bird counter inside and there was no way we were not going to have to explain what we were up to ... he was like... okay...
Cheers SAROC for adopting this one.

I was out and about today as part of Team GST (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ), working our way around the Pauatahanua Inlet finding all the Porirua Kiwi GeoTrail series of puzzle caches, plus a few selected others along the way.
In spite of the recent bad weather, we were lucky enough to have mainly sunshine today although the blowing southerly certainly left the air very fresh at times. I had already found a few of this series, as had Gr33nslime, but for the sake of ease whilst logging, all logs today were signed 'Team GST' regardless of whether we had found them before or not.
We were on a mission to visit all 61 Kiwi finals, so time was always a bit of a factor in our decisions. This one was a bit touch and go as to whether we would attempt it, as it would eat up about 15 minutes, but in the end we walked quickly to the calculated GZ, only to find that there was a muggle in situ! I decided that honesty was the best policy in order to not waste any time as he appeared to be quite settled where he was.
As it turned out, Stardust and I had been looking for about half a minute in the wrong spot when Gr33nslime caught up to us and immediately spotted the cache lol! How had I missed that? Probably by convincing myself where it would be before I even got to GZ. The joys of caching in a team is that we each bring our own qualities which usually means that as a whole we are greater than the sum of our parts.
Thanks for the Puzzle, and the cache. A great way to help me celebrate 2 years of caching.

Nice easy puzzle and a straightforward find, enjoyed the location and the cache was nice and dry and in good condition, TFTC
Beautiful autumn day for a walk, puzzle solved quickly and cache located easily, the log paper was looking a bit fragile and scrappy but dry enough to sign, TFTC
Hallo!
This was a very nice puzzle and the cache was easy to find. Thanks for the cache at this point
A quick and easy find anfter a wee walk. I finally found the way in to get to this cache!. Thanks
Today we moved lodging from Lower Hutt to Plimmerton. We cached on the way and did a great walk from Paekakeriki to Pukerua Bay. Signed the cache logs as Ms+Mr KR.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

Spent more time looking at architecture rather than birds. Some awesome houses and great cache thanks.
Today was the last official day of the Mega.
Plans were to collect as many puzzle caches that we had solved in the area plus anything else that came along.
Most of the puzzles were road side witch was extremely busy so parking in some cases were peoples driveways and balancing on road edges and some we didn't go for as they were to difficult to get to. Another day and we have to return.
Al in all a very successful day. SLTFTC

TFTC. Out with kutukuSI and warfi hunting downthe long list of Kiwi Geo puzzle caches. We meet TW + TG here nearby and then a little closer to this cache we meet sqirrel nutcase and Mc Jandals who advised us to take the time for a little wander. It was well worth it. A lovely location.
A favourite point from me.
Thanks Outward Bound for the original placement and SAROC for the ongoing maintainence.

We were chugging around the Kiwi GeoArt trail (warfi, purdiepurdie & I) when we came upon Squirrel Nutcase & Mc Jandals who recommended that we take this detour - well worth doing so.
Thanks, SAROC, for maintaining this cache.
Thanks, SAROC, for maintaining this cache.
WENZ Mega Weekend is finally here... Our big focus for today will be to clear out the Kiwi Geo Art trail around the Pauatahanui Basin. We are expecting some challenges here - narrow roads and lots of muggles. With Gap (of Fap and Gap), NZFlossy, and McJandals...
Sunday: We were a little more relaxed today, since there were no pressures to be at certain places on time... We enjoyed solving this puzzle. This was one of my favourite places to visit of the weekend. The view of the harbor and the novelty of the hide were quite special. Thanks for bringing us here. TFTP and TFTC.

Attending the mega with TeamBOP. Great time to catch up with other cachers and visit Wellington lLots of fun and laughs while finding lots of great caches Thanks to all the COs for providing all the caches and the work that goes into them. Sorry for the generic logs will try to add to them once back home Thanks
Attending the Wellington MEGA, great to visit here from the sunny Bay of Plenty, these finds have been found with my team members, which include myself, NZ Flossy, Squirrel Nutcase, FapandGap, Philip Perry, TNXPRO and Davidson Clan (To save room on logs) We are having a blast and gathering lots of smileys along the way. Please excuse generic logs in advance. (as I have saved the template using Cachly) Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Cheers
We are caching our way to the Wellington Mega, concentrating on picking up solved puzzles. We solved Hide and Seek more than 2 years ago now, so were keen to make the find. For some reason the gate was not open today, so we needed to park elsewhere and take a longer walk. All was quiet at GZ, and we soon discovered the hide and signed the log. Thanks!
Amazing walk out to the spot, lovely day for it. Found a dessicated mouse when I checked one corner so that sucked, but I found the cache shortly after. Tftc!
Solved this puzzle earlier in the week, and made my way out to this nice hide today. All good here. TFTC
Muggled! Fortunately just me and the cache is safe and sound.
This has been on my agenda for so long it isn't funny.
I solved this while I was still working (retired these days) and I estimate it was probably around 2011!
Spurred by the fact that I needed more points for the Planetary Pursuit which had been extended for a week I decided to come out this way to do some of the Geotrail and a couple of other mystery caches including this one.
A wonderful location and I was pleasantly surprised at the size and quality of the structure.
Not easy, in fact maybe impossible, to see other people approaching while at the GZ itself and just as I had found the cache and was signing the log three muggles appeared. I just carried on, looking as casual as possible, and took a photo of the scenery, no way of returning the cache until they had gone which fortunately wasn't long.
Other finders may like to consider taking the cache a few metres away while signing the log in order to avoid getting caught like I did.
Didn't see much of the natural life, was pretty quiet round this part.
A highly deserved favorite point.
TFTC.

Nice to be in the old stomping ground for xmas hols. Lovely stroll to the mysterious location. Lots of wetland creatures everywhere. TFTC
Mrs SoBad spotted this puzzle cache and solved it last night when she realised it had to be near where the team were going to be today. It seemed unneccessary as we had heaps of solved puzzles in the area but proved very useful. We had finished lunch nearby and Mrs SoBad wanted an extra walk while SoBad was happy to sit in the car and check emails etc. Enjoyed the seek and especially the hide.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Fun little puzzle. Lovely area, could escape out here. There was a bird's nest in the other hint! TFTC SAROC.
I noticed that I hadn't solved this puzzle just a few minutes before setting out from home. I quickly printed the puzzle and presented it to the family. We had an answer in five minutes. It took a lot longer waiting for muggles to clear out so we could retrieve the cache.
The puzzle is easily solved so today I set off for a walk in a brisk northerly. All's well at the cache but I got my feet wet in a couple of places where the water level had risen above the path (or perhaps the path had sunk: I'm not sure). Some cormorant-like sea bird was drying it's wings in the breeze nearby. I grabbed what shots I could with my phone. Another place to bring a camera to. TFTC
After a short slightly nervous blind feeling around i found the cache. Wildlife wasn't playing ball today so completed what I came for and slinked off again. TFTC.
#2598. Its been another wet old day and my plans to do some bush walks all turned to custard. So solved a few more puzzles today. My daughter set to work on the jigsaw and soon had the coordinates worked out. Headed out to Pauatahanui Inlet and found a park nearby. Greys Rd was closed today by flooding and path here had a fair number of ponds along it. Would be fine in gumboots but of course I left those at home today. I missed the hiding spot in the first place I checked (happens most times) so went around several other suitable spots before coming back for another look. Saw the hiding place this time. The log is nice and dry. Replaced the cache as found. Thanks for the puzzle.
Could have been a great walk if I had picked a better day. Rain had just stopped but the wind hadn't. Thanks for the cache
This took us a few minutes searching - there are a surprising number of places it could be hidden! TFTC!!! (^‿^)

We had to hang around GZ for ages looking at the birds as there were so many muggles sitting around with fancy cameras and binoculars. As it was a lovely sunny afternoon and there was plenty of bird-life, this was no hardship. After everyone had finally gone we grabbed the cache, signed the log and departed. Thanks for placing a cache here, well worth a visit and a FP.
After solving the puzzle some time ago I took the chance today to call in to the final location and to sign the paperwork. This was a quick find in a very neat place.
I had to suffer somewhat for this find as the pathway was well under water for a good part of the route!
Thanks very much for the cache.

Had a fun day out in the area with Pagenz picking up some puzzles that have been solved for quite some time. After disturbing the wee mouse that had set up home the cache was soon located. TFTC
Bother bother. I walked out in the rain to this cache as i was passing but i was not luck enough to lacate the treasure. I used the hint and referedd several times to it and my compass but still i could not locate it so perhaps another time.
solved this ages ago. In area today to get a couple of caches. Birdlife around. some muggle canoists and boardpaddlers also taking advantage of still conditions. TFTC
Delighted to see 7 spoonbills in flight as kayakers passed. Birds reason Ulmus Lynx looked for the cache and found it first!
Dropped by the cache this morning to check it over. Cache itself and its hide in good condition.
Solved this one awhile ago, we were in the area today so set off to find it, didnt take to long at all. TFTC
Solved this a while back while preparing for an assault on the Puzzle Streak challenge. A nice pleasant walk out to the final. I assume the tide was fully in otherwise there would need to be a Wading Required attribute added. Cache was easily spotted (mainly because I was looking for it - can be overlooked if not expected). TFTC
2nd time looking for this one, quick find today! Can't believe we didn't think of it sooner. Bit worried about how visible the cache is :s TFTC
Had the help of some little hands with this puzzle. Nice walk to GZ this afternoon in the sunshine and had plenty of time to admire the local wild life. TFTP and TFTC.
Such a brilliant sunny day, it was very tempting to just sit for a while and watch the world go by but we had caches to find.
Edit to say that I solved this one on May 2010 but had never got a round "toit" until today.

A super quick find walked there and I saw it instantly. But it was a very nice day, I stopped to admire the view for a bit.

One of those solved ages ago but forgotten about puzzles! Although the rain was threatening, it held off long enough to get to and from the location, where the cache was found exactly as described. Easily worth a FP. Dropped off a TB as I don't like to hold onto them for too long. Another puzzle towards the DGSC challenge, TFTC.
Nice little puzzle to 'sort out'. Bit of fun on a Sunday morning, before we went out for an afternoon wander in the Reserve. Weather wasn't the best, with a little drizzle, but still good fun.

CaligulaNZ & I had fun solving this one this morning, then went out for a nice walk around the Reserve in the afternoon. lovely area. TFTC
Tackled a section of the Kiwi Geo trail today, thanks to the CO for setting up such a great series. TFTC
Enjoyed the cut and paste jigsaw and tired of persuading the family to come bird watching, made it a solo find today. Nice walk and a few birds about. No TB in cache

Our mate Jhony-5NZ solved this one pretty quickly. Such a beautiful day. Miss Orsome4some had come on a school visit here and was keen to drag the rest of the family along and this seemed like the ideal day. Lovely! TFTC
We really enjoyed this one. A good puzzle and a great final. We loved it. Sorts all the requirements we have for a favourite - good parking, easy access, and a good reason for visiting this place. TNLN. TFTC.
I enjoyed working out the puzzle. Found the cache on the ground in the open and while replacing it the thing I was standing on tipped sending me, the cache and my GPS in different directions. unfortunately now the GPS is damaged so that will be interesting for anything but daylight and traditionals (other than puzzles I've already worked out). Very lucky as two hunting/fishing guys arrived just as I had replaced it. TFTC #3676
Found today with the Wandering Dragons. A great day for a walk. Really enjoyed this one! Swapped a few trinkets. TFTC!

Cache #737 - An absolutely stunning day to go for a short stroll with Violet Butterfly. Had looked at this puzzle more than a year ago and set it aside as needing time. Got back to it last week, and a much higher resolution print-out of the pieces, and had it sorted quickly. Glad to get this one off our list, and enjoyed it thoroughly. TNLNSL. TFTC!
We solved the puzzle in March 2007 and we have finally made time to come here. Tide was in and there were not very many birds about.
+ a marble, - nothing.
+ a marble, - nothing.
Found by night on a mission to these parts with kjwx. I wasted time initially by following the wrong path (even while holding a GPSr!), but kjwx correctly identified that we were heading in the wrong direction. Somewhat creepy out here at night… We disturbed some avian locals at GZ, and could hear (but not see) them protesting loudly. Looked on the wrong 'side' at first, but this was the first of many such hides tonight! TFTC
This has been hiding on my To-Do list for 18 months so tonight's visit to the area with JardislikeTardis seemed like the perfect opportunity to seek it out. Took a few minutes at GZ to locate the container, possibly not helped by multiple things going bump in the night.
Today is the 'complete the grid' day. Somehow last year 12 July got overlooked, so had to wait a whole year! This is a great area and thoroughly enjoyed the walk around to the cache. Excellent! TFTC
