Second find for the day as we wound our way up to Mt Macedon. Lovely little park here - Would make a great camping spot (if only they allowed it!)

Kids forced me to read out the words on the columns to them - Great way to get dizzy! Then off to the cache. Scoured around and feared a DNF - then took a leap and discovered the cache very neatly tucked away.

Great find, under the wattle blossoms.

Attending a course at the AEMI up the road and went for a stroll after class. The light was fading but I had a good poke around and couldn't find it. Oh well, back up the road to a great dinner.

A reasonably quick find with a friend at 12:53 on an afternoon of bike riding around Macedon/Woodend and a train trip from Melbourne. Nice and easy after giving up on an early cache where we were confronted and questioned by the local constabulary. Though there was a bit of water in the cache and I didn't have anything to dry or clean it out with, though I did pour the tiny bit of water in there. Log book seemed okay, maybe a tiny bit damp. TNLN/Thanks!

I had to look a couple of times even though I was sure I knew where to find it.
Great little park. I have lived in the area for years but never stopped here.
Lots of muggles around since it was a lovely sunny sunday, so stealth was necessary.

13-02 3rd find of the day at 09:43 and 877th find in total.
this was one of the main caches we had planned on doing while we were here and luckily even the though the GPSr didn't want to play we still came up with the cache (and the partial co-ords). Now just two more and we'll see if we can track down some fairies.
(''\(OoO)/'') Thanks Spruce Mooses for the caching fun!

Sneaky little hiding place, this one.
No trolls guarding it today, must have been a tad hot for them.
Thanks again to The Spruce Mooses for the cache, maybe one day I'll be back to complete the series.
Great spot to relax too, as a couple of young lovers had discovered the shade of a low hanging tree.

About midday and thought we would have a quick look for this cache. Read the clue and searched, but could not see anything, so left empty handed.

24-Jan-10
Visited the mountain in search of the wee folk. This was my first stop on the way. Didn't see any of the magical folk, but if the muggles who walked over the top of me as I was logging my find knew I was there, they might have thought I was a goblin.

Stopped to have morning tea with the family and try our hand at the first of 'The Fairies' series. The large trees were very peaceful and a great place to stop for a bite to eat. The young daughter loved running up and down the path and across the bridge (many times).

Took N. Left TB and Pathtag.

Didn't see any Little Men or Trolls but did see a pair of Pardalotes nesting in the wall of the creek. They flew in and out several times while we watched. Smile

Thanks for bringing us here Spruce Mooses.

Went and had a look of it. Was a bit difficult to look for it but couldn't see it even after looking at the hint. May have to go back when it can have a better look and see if it is actually still there.

Notes: An easy find yes but a very nice cache, great one for beginners. Unlike me to be impressed with a cache like this, but, I was! Hasn't been found in a while but is in great condition, swaps stock good. I'd known of this one but never looked for it, was in the area, without the GPS and so has a look in the 'usual' places. This is one of the things I like about Geocaching, been passed this bridge many times but never actually walked to the bridge in question, as a result we'll definately. be back here for a BBQ or picnic!

Thanks for a nice cache Shelly and Dave.

Cache find #2 of our Macedon area expedition on a lovely sunny winter's day, and the first of "The Fairies" series.
We enjoyed the sunshine and autumn leaves here and the girls collected quite a few red & yellow coloured ones to bring home. One of our intrepid bunch found the cache at 11:35.
T: 4 dinosaurs
L: 2 highlighters.

Nice one Spruce Mooses and we look forward to doing the others in the series.

Looks like the old log was destroyed by bugs! Back online in a slightly different spot, only metres from coords. I didn't have the GPS with me but the Coords should only be a few metres out and the spot should be fairly obvious.

20-Nov-07
I'll try and get there in the next couple of days to chech this one out.

18-Nov-07
Looked in the spot that we thought was the most likely place, had us really stumped, looked like it had been stumped. Think this one might of been discovered. Broadened our search to the surrounding area to a 30 meter radius but still no luck. Oh well, will keep an eye on this one, and attempt it next time up this way.

Alas did not find this one, I think having a torch would have helped. Self & geokid will return again to find.

I went out today (25 Oct 2009) and driving long i saw a cache, seemed to be in an easy to get to spot so thought i'd pull in when i realised i had been here a long time ago and found this one. So i'm finally logging it after many months (and years) of my name being in the log book. Thanks TNLN (I think!)

Found before the fairies appeared Smile
Actually I think they were just staying indoors out of the rain. Unlike one damp cacher [:o)]

24-Jun-07
Finally the last in the series and certainly the easiest to reach. Now if we can just find where Lady Morris has written the rest of the coords - sometimes she is off with the faireies.

On our way up the hill, and we stopped in to grab the first of the series. Although it was the weekend, the park was muggle free. A nice stroll across the green grass (how much does it rain here anyway?), and the cache was ours.
Recorded the numbers and hoped that the poem was not required as well. Smile
Thanks, Robmc.

Time to get the last fairy clue and as it was on the way home, it all tied in beautifully. I parked the car very near GZ and was logging the find soon after at 17:30.

TNLNSL, noted clue. This was our 400th Traditional find so the Gecoin made its mark. Thanks Spruce Mooses.

14-Jan-07
Found at 5:30pm with Tina & Granny, and cachers 4MAAL, Eudes & Winetimers.
Loads of picnickers nearby but made a quick grab and retreated to the car. Putting it back was a bit more tricky and after Tina replaced the cache she was approached by a little boy running towards her very quickly and asking to know what she was doing. Our fast learning niece responded with the brilliant deception that she was looking for grasshoppers. The boy kept asking questions and showing off his collection of acorns and was distracted from GZ by talking to us, before his mother decided he shouldn't be tlaking to these strange people and called him back to their picnic.
Took grasshopper
Left Smiley soft ball

14-Jan-07
Moving right along, seeking Alsume etc., this was on the way and we couldn't ignore having realised it was also part of the Fairies trilogy. We had to be a bit cautious approaching GZ as there were picnicking families not too far off. However they appeared engrossed in whatever they do and we picked up the cache and the clues without mishap. Impatient to be away TNLN.

Found by Bob at 1240

Another one I just couldn't pass up on my way to the Christmas BBQ event. This is a particularly pretty spot - large trees, pleasant shade, a hint of cool water and very green despite the drought. Luckily, the cache was an easy find, because those trees make accurate GPS reception a bit dodgy Smile.

TNLN, except for the clues.

Thanks again Spruce Mooses

03-Dec-06
It was not hard to find this cache,. That could be due to the fact that there were several other caching groups surrounding it as we arrive. We signed the log and took a fairy and a book, we left a necklace and snowman.

Thanks for this cache, Sprose Mooses. Hopoefully we can complete this series when we are up this way again in a few months.

Dec 3rd seems to have been a busy day for this cache based on the logs. We stopped there for a late lunch and there wasn't another soul in sight. For the record the Mt Macedon general store makes really nice sandwiches!

We pulled up next to a car parked "oddly" off the road and noticed the GPS mount on the windscreen...then noticed a pair of geocachers trying to look inconspicuous nearby. It was the Partic Team trying to knock of a quick cache on their return trip...so we pitched in to help and PAQup quickly zoned in on the GZ with a "Got it!". T: Radio L: Geo badges and patches.

Dear Spruce Mooses,

We found your cache today at 12:00pm as the first of eight on our Mount Macedon Cache Event and Beyond afternoon. This was too tempting not to make a quick grab on our way into the cache event today. Our first cache in the Mount Macedon area. Thanks for our 5th Spruce Mooses cache.

Got out of the car just as another group of cachers were retrieving the stash so it was a very easy find! Then more turned up and we had a party! T Badge left Deer. Thanks Spruce Mooses for another cache.

I'm so out of practice it seems. After arriving for the cache and fiddling with the GPS for 10 minutes, we notices BackPAQer pull up and begin wandering across.

I was still trying to get the GPS to focus on the job when PAQup goes there it is!

I think my iPaq needs an overhaul Smile

Took photos of the clues, but aside from that TNLN and will get back this way to go off with the fairies soon I hope.
