28-Dec-21
Didn’t find but lovely lookout just wish we could’ve found the cache

17-Jul-21
Yeah searched everywhere around GZ just like the last person but there is no sight of the cache. Think this one is missing. TFTC

04-Jan-21
We literally searched everywhere. Every inch from 30 metres in.. nothing. Think it may have gone? If someone finds it.. please let me know.

08-Dec-19
Out on a drive and doing some back roads. Nice view up top. Reckon there would be better up on top of the hill. Lol Bummer you can't go up there. Info was easy and cache was found quickly. But ammo can is in a sad state. Maybe a good geocacher could replace it as I know Zorgon is no longer with us. Would never come out here otherwise. Tftc

01-Nov-19
After a concert we were supposed to attend this weekend was cancelled we decided to still go away and tackle the NZ Icon & Kiwi art project series with a few in between, with my muggle husband driving me he did well by getting me to 135 caches so far today with only a handful of DNF’s so am happy with that. Thanks to the CO for placing, they were fun to solve and took up many nights over the winter.
Sorry for the cut and paste logs, I’ll add any info worth reporting or FP’s at the bottom here..TFTC
Had to come up here and complete this multi since we were in the area.
Found out in the open with the lid off.

20-Apr-19
Had to come up here and do this one - after the puzzle series - no probs with the maths

TFTC Smile

19-Jan-19
In the area, so couldn’t resist heading up the road to sort out the multi. Nice quick find once at GZ. TFTC

18-Jan-19
Being as we were already part way up this narrow country road to pick up a couple of the NZ Icon series, it seemed a shame not to carry on for this multi. Once at the end of the road, the required numbers were soon located and a final GZ calculated. Then it was back into the cache mobile and a short drive to collect it.

Once at final GZ, the good sized container was soon located, but it's 12 years out in the environment are starting to show with that old enemy rust creeping in. Signed the log and then replaced safe and secure as found. TFTC

18-Jan-19
I'm down from Okaihau in the Far North with 0B80B8 and DaffyNZ on a three day caching mission. We aimed to get the Kiwi puzzles, the NZ series and The Eyes Have It series in one day. Not a feat for the faint hearted geocacher.

With careful planning we managed to get 214 caches on Saturday. We worked really well as Team GOLD and had a superb trip.

We had arrived in Hamilton on Friday evening in time to grab a few caches before the big day. We bought our dinner and headed off to the Hamilton gardens to enjoy it. We then set off to collect a few outlying puzzles and any traditional/multi cache's on the way. The final way point was quickly worked out and a quick find at gz too. Thanks for your cache Smile

08-Jan-19
Got muggled collecting the numbers TFTC

03-Jan-19
Well we started off our Christmas holidays with the family in the beautiful area of Danniverke lower North Island area for a week then it was time to head North a bit more and we travelled through Napier then across the the Napier Taupo road and then further on towards the Hamilton region to get some more of the Kiwi Puzzles and Ensigns Puzzles as the last time we visited here we just got puzzles and traditional caches as we were passing by on our way to do the Eyes Puzzles. We did them with a few other geocachers. But today is the day to try and grab all the other Puzzle cachers in the area to complete some more geoart. The Geoart has been amazing thank you for placing a multi out here to complete this road of a nice trail and making geocaching a challenge and enjoyable sport. We got up to have a simi early start getting the first cache at 8.20am being your multi it was quickly worked out and the cache location sorted wrote down the co ordinates and off to ground zero we went. Nice quick find here. signed the log and placed it back exactly as we found it. now off to get the next cache along our travels. TFTMC

03-Jan-19
Out caching today to get the odd traditional multi and puzzle in the area with family. I'm new to geocaching, it seems to get me out and about and see many new places and meet some new people. Thank you for all the great caches. Thank you for placing caches out here for all to enjoy. It takes alot of time and planning to put caches out. TFTMC signed the log and placed it back exactly where we found it. no muggles around nice and quiet in the area and great farm land. didnt take long to work this multi out and then it was off to GZ signed the log and placed the cache back exactly where we found it. TFTMC

12-Sep-18
I too drove passed here and thought it might be a good spot to explore. I was on a mission though so kept going until reaching the end of the road. Lovely views in all directions on this road and lo and behold I ended up where I had had a fleeting glimpse of.

08-Apr-18
Got the car up here in first gear so it was good to find a flat spot to stop and admirer the views punched in the numbers and headed for the find good one a little rusty but still working TFTC

08-Apr-18
A real nice view made this little drive up well worthwhile. Once we had figured out the answers the trundle back down to GZ was a breeze to a rather large and aged cache. Thanks for this cache.

01-Apr-18
When I drove past the Final GZ I was thinking it odd there wasn't a cache there. Nice to see I had to come back. Interesting to see how rusty the lid to this ammo can is, yet how structurally sound it still is.

I am up here for my sister's wedding, which was yesterday, and taking in the NZ icons series while here looks like a fine way to get to Pluto. So after a week of frantic puzzle solving a couple of weeks ago I am prepared. Not needed as it turns out as I got to Pluto by other means, and am now way past Eris (bigger than Pluto, about twice as far out). But I may as well do these anyway, as I have the time reserved for them. Alas I could not start till after lunch, after saying farewell to my family, so was not able to finish the NZ Icons series. I'll be back tomorrow.

Happy Easter!

02-Feb-18
A nice quick multi, we enjoyed the view and the quick find at the final. Thanks Zorgon for the cache sorry you aren't here to cache any more. Thanks MCC for keeping this going.

22-Dec-17
this was going to be a big day the aim was to get to 100, we didnt quite make it but we werent rushed and didnt start until around 9am, the weather was on our side and got a little burnt even with all the sunscreen I had on, hubby did all the driving and didnt whine once, but this was my christmas gift so it wouldnt have been fitting, thank you to the COs and the effort put into putting out the caches for us to find, we replaced logs where we could.

09-Dec-17
Came down from Auckland with urbangypsy and Jard for a day of doing the Icons series. Just completed the series just down this road and I said to the other two, let's just head up a little further and do this multi, after-all, we had done 70+ mysteries so why not 1 little multi? They concurred and so a quick blast up the road, we saw the info we needed without getting out of the car! How often does THAT happen! So Jard did the math quickly and I punched in the co-ords to see where we needed to be, Urban was doing the driving for us in her car, and we were off back the way we came to try and find GZ! Got to an obvious spot and there was so much road dust to sort through, I found the large cache on our behalf and signed us in. Thanks for that MCCC.

09-Dec-17
urbangypsynz, Gorbygorbachov and I had just finished the Icons Series and saw we were just down the road from this one so decided it would be silly not to come and do this too. Got to the GZ and quickly found the numbers to get the final co-ords, drove back and after a bit of scrambling, it was Gorby who discovered the cache. Thanks for contributing a multi to todays haul of 84 caches.

09-Dec-17
We came down to complete the icon series and continued up the road, glad we did the views were spectacular. Quick maths and find with Jard and Gorby.

18-Nov-17
A neat road to race up to the top.
We solved the puzzle quickly and tore back down the road.
At GZ, a rotting deer hide could have easily thrown us off scent, but the cache was out in the open and very obvious. We tucked it away a little better and covered with a bit of foliage.
Thanks for bringing us here.

18-Nov-17
We took a Saturday drive to get this cache didn't take long to get the co ordinates sorted and then we were of to GZ where we quickly found the cache sitting out in the open signed the book and covered with natural camo then we were off to Hamilton.
Thanks

18-Nov-17
Another road trip this time with Davidson Clan, NZFlossy, Mc Jandals & TNXPro. Todays mission was 'The Eyes Have It' series but of course we were going to pick up anything else we find on the way Smile
We spotted this potential GZ on the way to collecting the numbers but you never really know until ... you know. So back we went to be greeted with a large rotting deer hide. There was a stench in the air and maggots everywhere but that wouldn't stop us and the cache was quickly found in plain view. Signed in as TEAM BOP to save log space and time. Cheers Zorgon and MCCC for keeping this alive, TFTC.

18-Nov-17
Nice quick solve today, on a road trip with Team BoP. Cache was very exposed. Rehid with natural cover. TFTC

31-Dec-16
Well another glorious day to go geocaching with Nahkins. Had 5 lined up and 1 maybe if we had time. #5. This road was a lot longer than I thought it was but the view was fabulous. Spent time looking at the view and working out the new coordinates. Went back down the road and using my son's fancy GPS quickly found the cache. We both spotted it at the same time. It was sitting out in the open. We put the cache back under cover. TFTC and view. Smile

31-Dec-16
Out geocaching with NZPatoto. I was driving and we had five on the list and one if we had time. #5 – The drive up the hill was longer than we thought, although I was going slow as it’s a narrow metalled road. Well worth the trip as the view you get at the end is amazing. Worked out the new co-ords and realised where it was going to be. Both found as it was sitting out in the open. SL and have covered cache with available materials – not sure how long it will last – the wind, if it blows might change the situation. TFTC Big Grin

ET P H (Waikato) was transferred from Zorgon to user McCutchan Cache Clan

30-May-16
Is anyone interested in adopting this cache? Please message me if you do.
I have been doing very little geocaching over the last couple of years and it is now time to either adopt out or archive all of my remaining live caches. I will be progressively archiving and collecting the caches over the next six weeks or so if nobody wants to adopt.
Thanks

09-Apr-16
A quick easy multi while completing the NZ series.

09-Apr-16
1731 Was out doing the NZ icon series so was in the area. Thought I might have a go at this one. Numbers easily found as was the cache.

09-Apr-16
Another good find with Just-Lookin.
We enjoyed the drive around the area.

Thanks for the fun multi-cache!

13-Nov-15
Nice views today from up here and a quick find of the cache on the way back down. tftc

25-Sep-15
Out collecting a few NZ Icon caches and this hide popped up on the GPS. Stunning views of the Kaimai's today. Did my sums and returned to where I expected the hide would be.

28-Apr-15
Having finished work a little early I decided to make the drive out to this cache before heading home. Its a nice drive and even though it was wet and cloudy I could still appreciate the views from the top of grey road. I had no issues with working out the coordinates and was happy to make a quick find as the weather started take a turn for the worse. Container was bone dry- you gotta love Ammo cans. I took nothing but dropped off a Krusty the Clown toy.

25-Mar-15
Wow, what a magic location, with great views all round and a pleasant drive along the way. A muggle at GZ, who'd just finished mowing some lawns, noticed the rental car and offered to take me for a wander with his dog up to the top of the hill - unfortunately a shortage of time didn't allow.

Cache duly located, although I note the container is a little difficult to close, however it's still sage and dry. Nice to get an old cache such as this one. TFTC Zorgon, #7708

07-Mar-15
Knocked this puzzle off while getting kiwi series, quickly found but as I was putting it back I heard voices. Met a lovely couple who were out hunting in the bush block, introduced them to geocaching & they seemed very keen to give it a go. TFTC Smile beautiful spot.

13-Feb-15
I was navigating to this while on the kiwi icon trail without even realising I was off the trail. A nice multi and a nice extra bonus find for me today. No problem working out where the final would be and I loved the classic cache container too. TFTC, Biggles.

02-Jan-15
We parked up at Stage 1 when the local farmer arrrived on the scene and kindly asked us if we needed any help... acting like we were here for the stunning view, I think we convinced him. The final was quick and off back to NZ series. T4tc

01-Nov-14
Tufty, Vistra and I were on a day trip picking up the Icon series, this cache was up the road from the last Icon we picked up, so it would be rude not to try this cache right!

Went to the waypoint and quickly had the final cache waypoint in hand. Once at GZ and a search of the area and we soon had the cache in hand.

Thanks for the cache

01-Nov-14
Yorkshirekiwi83 and Vistra decided to accompany me down to the Waikato for a day of caching to pick up the ICON series of puzzles and any other caches in the vicinity of which this happens to be one of them.

A great day with great views .

Cheers for the cache.

01-Nov-14
Out for a caching day in the Waikato, together with Yorkshirekiwi83 and Tufty, with our primary focus being the NZ icons series. Quickly completed this multi while in the area and soon had the cache in hand at the final location. TFTC!

08-Sep-14
interesting area I'd never been around before. cache was quickly found after getting the coords Smile

30-Aug-14
Well done multi and always great to still be able to find a cache older than me - in geocaching years that is Big Grin It was interesting to see how well these type of containers last, not as good as I thought, but still going well.

TFTC Zorgon

22-Aug-14
Continued up the road from an icon cache to a well crafted multi. Thanks for the hide.

10-Aug-14
Found with alpenmilch80 and vamber while out collecting the New Zealand Icon series, and signed as "Vas…". A fun afternoon's caching in great company.

Spotted the first number easily enough but took a bit more searching to find the second one. A bit more searching at GZ and the cache was soon found.

Thanks!

10-Aug-14
Started around noon together with Team Vamber and slieschke to drive down south to collect most of the NZ Icons. Being close by to this multi we decided to drive further and collect this one as well. Awesome view to the full moon from there. Some initial confusion at GZ but with some headlights searching the area the information needed were located. Off the well-deserved final to sign the log as "Vas..." . TFTC

10-Aug-14
We were in the area with slieschke and alpenmilch80 completing the Kiwi Icon Puzzle Trail, and so decided to quickly grab this multi as well. It was a bit too dark to appreciate the views, but we managed to quickly grab the required information and find the final. Thanks for the multi! Smile

12-Jul-14
We were in the area doing the kiwi art trail so thought we might as well continue on to do this one as well.
A nice quick & easy multi. Seemed straight forward enough, but it's always a relief when you find the cache straight away anyway.
Left a pet rock - a raccoon. TFTC

28-Jun-14
This cache formed part of KiwiFruitsNZ day out to secure the balance of the Cats & Dragons Kiwi Icon series, and pick up a few other caches along the way.

After solving the requirements at the first waypoint, we headed off to secure the cache. Took us a while longer than it should have - should have been a quick find.

On the trail with Gap (of Fap and Gap) this afternoon. We were on a mission to collect all of the solved Kiwi Icons puzzles. However, there were other caches along the puzzle trail, and these were worth collecting too...

I knew this multi was out there... and hoped we'd get a chance to have a crack at it. Light was beginning to fade quickly in the hills. We parked up at the final and Gap went in to do the cache retrieval. This is an interesting area that warrants further exploring some day. TFTC.

09-May-14
Not such a great day for a drive but it is a dot day so beggars can't be choosers. Out for a lunch time drive up this cool little road. Thanks for showing us these great views and fun road.

28-Apr-14
Out and about with Team Welsh on a bit of a drive around the country roads in the Waikato. I needed a getaway for a day and this was a great little side-trip. Thanks.

28-Apr-14
Had all of these solved (more to come I'm sure) and figured Trout-fly needed to get out caching before that duck shooting season starts at the weekend.

Trying to convince Trout-fly to do multis can be an uphill task but after reassurance that this was going to be easy and we were in the area the cache was soon in hand. Thanks

27-Feb-14
It's a lovely day for a drive. Safely found and loved the Waikato views. TFTC

24-Nov-13
Beautiful day for a Sunday drive, cocky at the top asked us if we were ok lol.
Nicely hidden final.
TFTC

04-Jul-13
nice little detour

05-May-13
Just what we wanted for a Sunday drive and the views are spectacular. A great trad cache. We thought we'd come again and suss out possible cache placements around the area to encourage more people to travel out this way.

23-Feb-13
Lots of fun for the kids working out this one. Found it easily.

08-Jan-13
First cache for the day. Pleasent drive up here, found the info easily and went of to locate the final. Well hidden, as wasn't expecting something this size. Another multi done for one of my challenges.

02-Jan-13
Got to the final destination after quite a drive. Took a while to find the actual cache - it was well hidden and we probably overlooked it initially. The last clue was pretty accurate. Quite a treasure hunt! TFTC.

02-Jan-13
A bit out of the way but great views and a well camouflaged cache Smile

13-Nov-12
Used the metal detector(umbrella) to find this one. Saved a bit of rummaging in the spiders home and let them rest.

13-Nov-12
We moved onto this after having a bit of a boil up on the other side of the hill. What a shame it wasn't a blue-sky day as the views from the WP were spectacular. On to the final and a quick poke from CrusaderWoman (with the umbrella) and cache was soon in hand. Everything was in good nick, GC well hidden and dry. TFTC

25-Aug-12
Out with Novalightning yet again caching, well it is the weekend and the other halves allow us out to play for one day in the weekend!!

How surprising to find a great big antenna nearby, is Zorgon compensating for something, Easily found the required numbers, spent a few moments admiring the few down into the valley where we were perched on an island surrounded by a white sea. Worth doing this cache just for the views at the top.

Carried out the required Maths calculations and off we headed. Plenty of parking nearby, a great sized cache easily accessible. All Dry inside Thanks for a great cache, TFTC

24-Aug-12
As usual the weekend comes around its off caching I go. Been putting in a lot of work cleaning out Hamilton and the area around. Now it was time to collect the ET P H multi. Headed up the hill with Cats&Dragons and we both commented on how appropriate it was that there was a rather large antenna close to GZ. The view up here was breath taking. The valleys still had low cloud cover and it looked like a scene from a post card. The numbers required were found without having to leave the car and after some quick Math we were off to collect the cache.

The final was a great size and easily found. There was a small amount of parking close by that made this cache all the more enjoyable to collect. Thanks for the great Multi.

14-Jun-12
Stunning views at the waypoint today; wish I could have gone right to the very top. The cache was very obvious & un-covered when I got to the hint item. The log book had 3 recent muggle entries, with a few comments +/- swaps, but they have left the cache intact & it is in good order. I re-hid the container in the same spot but with more foliage over it, to make it a lot less obvious to casual passers-by. TFTC!

Nice spot at the top of the hill - good views even on this cloudy day - did the sums and then travelled back - wondered about the spot on my upwards travels - cache all good - thanks for the multi and the cache Happy New Year

27-Dec-11
Found it. Decided to go for a late night stooge and picked up MR NOSY to help him on his journey. Thanks

27-Dec-11
nice ammo case

22-Aug-11
Driving up the gravel road, I was half expecting to get to the real top.
Great views all the same. Quick calculation and the cache was soon found. Thanks.

20-Aug-11
Always a beautiful view up here - shame public access isn't possible up to the aerial. I spotted GZ on the way up - didn't realise it was GZ, but thought "there's a great spot for a cache". GPS kept pointing me to the other side of the road, but as I walked around the car, there it was! It was quite noticeable as it was open and upside down...bit of water in it too but the contents in the bags were nice and dry. There was a brand-new looking post beside it, so I'm assuming whoever put that post in found the cache and interfered with it. It's now right way up, closed tight and covered by natural vegetation. Dropped off Mr Nosy travel bug too. TFTC! Smile

08-May-11
Finally made time go get out and find this one, was annoying me as it was so close, yet so far.

Cache is in good condition even after all the recent wet weather.

TFTC

30-Jan-11
All good. Some signs partway to waypoint suggested that we should not have gone further due to construction underway but we pressed on and had no problems getting the clues and completing the GC. Collected GeoCoin from cache to take further on its journey. TFTC.

22-Jan-11
Made our way slowly around the winding road but didn't end up where we were expecting. Found the required info and soon after the nice big cache into which we dropped a TB T4TC.

01-Jan-11
1.20pm - A little out of my way to find but well worth the drive, GPS was spot on - TFTC

07-Nov-10
We are from The Netherlands and visited the beautiful Waikato area. This short multi was nice to do and our 1300th cache was easy to find. TFTC.

29-Oct-10
Last 2km of road to WP unsealed, rough, narrow at times and with blind corners...so caution. But view from the summit well worth the trip. TFTC

22-Apr-10
Found it, nice view from the top. TFTC

29-Jan-10
What a fabulous view from the initial co-ordinates, we enjoyed this one. TFTC.

The Toffeez score again.

Just a quick drive by to nab this cache while in the area

05-Nov-09
Couldn't have picked a much worse day weatherwise to find this cache, but having some very rewarding business up the road today, it didn't matter.
Anyway, I've seen the views from up here before - oustanding.
Did my homework and had the final cache location sussed before leaving home, making for a very quick find.
Cheers!

TFTC. Day 2 and our 5th ever cache hunt.

Know the area well, but never been up this road. 3mouse did the calculations and also eventually found the cache. Our first ammo-box - green and rusty - kids were intrigued. Took a rubber-ball and left a toy car.

Watch-out for the sheepSurprised! A small flock of 11 ewes that we'd passed on the way-up escaped out of scrub and down the road in front of us on the way back-down. Took almost 30 min to get them into a paddock with the help of a local farmer; before heading off to TB Stumpy.

11-May-09
Nice simple multi, pity we coundn't get up to trig tho, Cockys sighns prety bold and to the point! TNLN Cheers Muzy Man! Big Grin

This was our last cache of the day planned around a really nice country ramble. Interesting little road getting there and the views really spectacular. Thought we may have met Ventura 58 on the way down, as we'd signed the log after him at TB Stumpy, but no that didn't happen. Nice little multi. TFTC. TNLNSL

This one took a bit of driving to find the right road to lead us to the waypoint site, we drove right around the whole mountain, the whole time the arrow on our GPS was pointing towards that big sky tower lookalike thing!!

Found eventually, easy waypoint and final cache find!!

26-Dec-08
WOW amazing what you find on your own back door step Red Face had some binoculars with us, could almost see our house Smile. Great waypoint, found final easy.

New roads to travel on and some pretty country on the way. Just a pity you can't bag the true summit... Interesting to see the obvious aversion to power pylons around there, even with that monstrosity perched in pride of place.
Nice idea and final placement, thanks.

Absolutely pouring with rain, and TFM had cabin fever... so out caching we went.
Shame that the weather was so poor as we are sure that the views from here would be brilliant on a fine day.
Cache found without incident.
