The area has got very overgrown over the last few years making access dificult.
Chook and her long-time friend Wendy from our horse-endurance days decided to have a day hiking, caching and fungi spotting on Mt Macedon today. It was cold, damp and misty up on the mount, but that didn't deter the throngs from the city having the same idea (minus the geocaching).
Chook was well aware that Wendy, being a non-cacher, might get bored tagging along to geocaches all day, so wasn't expecting to attempt to hunt this cache down, particularly as there was no obvious track and lots of bush between the trail head and the cache. But Wendy wouldn't hear of it and insisted we push through and have a go.
There were a few scanty wombat tracks heading towards the general GZ area at times that we used to keep us off the flora, and we passed a couple of wombat holes too. In the middle we did have to push through a bit of bush though. At GZ the cache was found quickly enough, but was very waterlogged. Wendy cleaned up the swag while Chook tried to pat dry a page in the middle of the soggy logbook so that she could get our names sort of visible in there. The ziplock bag was broken too, and unfortunately we weren't carrying any spares. Sadly the day was too damp to be even able to consider drying things off further. Hopefully the CO can get up there at some stage and swap over the logbook as it is unlikely to dry out naturally any time soon.
As in previous logs, we did see a track at GZ and we started to head that way, but it wasn't heading in the right direction any time soon so we chose to go back the way we came.

Little uphill hike from the car park but worth the walk passing the bed of blue flowers.
We are staying at Mt Macedon for the weekend and this morning made our way to the Farmers Market here in Woodend to pick up some yummy goodies. After finding a couple of caches in Woodend, we headed here to attempt this cache. We started off down the track from the Trailhead but the track seemed to be going the wrong way and we bumped into someone who said it didn’t intersect with any side tracks that he saw, so we made our way back to the clearing and as the foliage in the direction of GZ was relatively low we decided to bush bash our way there. This took a while but we felt a sense of achievement making it. The cache was easily found. Once there was could see a track out. We followed it for a while but it became very overgrown to the point that we lost sight of it, however we found our way out none the less (obviously lol)
TFTC Keeper Of Time - GJMMelb - this was quite an achievement for me (JMelb) to cope with bushbashing to a GZ

Yes it all made sense once I saw the signs. Followed the path as suggested and happily found the cache exactly where it was supposed to be.
Thanks for the fun here Keeper of Time

Finally found it, walked past it 5 times but hey that’s the fun of it. Took a little wooden car and left a S keyring - bring your own pen and maybe someone can buy a new little notebook foe the box!
A long walk today on our day off, I'm working from australia for my UK boss because I cut get home! This cache was missing. No it wasn't really that's my idea of an April fool. Have run out of trade mark gummy bears sadly, didn't think i was coming for this long! Signed GMB. Tftc. All in good order and lots of stuff inside.
Awesome spot and great walk, of course I'm the type of person who doesn't look at the description in full until they are 20 or so meters away from the cache, this meant that I wasn't aware of the walking track, so off we headed in to the forest for a nice bush bash. It was a good walk down though, even though I had to hold my 3 year old most of the way, my 7 year old managed fine, all whilst their dad kept repeating "mums going to get us lost kids" but I didn't, we made it after a bit of a down hill then up hill climb we walked past a huge hollowed out tree stump, and I do mean huge you could easily fit 6-8 average sized people in it, but it looked quiet pretty. then we took the track back to the car. Haha
Took something and left something. The log is a tiny little bit damp but is still very usable. Thanks for an awesome find!

Track way overgrown, felt more like we were following a kangaroo track, particularly near the end. BYO pen. Found with JelenaGreenleaf. Tftc
Found with georocks101. This was a fun adventure and even though we stayed on the track we still ended up bush bashing. The forest is very serene and the cache in good order. Beware of leeches after rain. Thanks Keeper of Time
We circled the cache, attempting to reach it from a number of directions but couldn't get close
The ziplock bag that holds the logbook and pen is a little bit tattered, and i think 12 years of growth have made the trail less obvious, but nevertheless TFTC
We went for a nice walk from the carpark, and upon our return I grabbed the only person who showed the slightest inclination to come with me, and we set off to find this cache. I must admit, neither of us expected quite the bush bash we had ahead of us, mini cacher couldn't even see as the foliage was over her head, but we could see the vaguest of trails through- wombat possibly, human maybe... who can say. I was counting down the distance the whole way to reassure her that we were making progress and not just going out for face-full after face-full of fern. I stood back when we finally got to 5m +/- so she could make the find, because by golly she deserved it. She took a shell (bless) and I left a leopard. I was very glad of the carpark waypoint to guide us back, as turning round, it took quite some scrutiny to find the path back again. We discussed the describing words that she would use in her diary writing at school tomorrow, "wet" was one. "Cool" was another. (The yoof vernacular, not the temperature description).
While we were caching the other children and the husband had poked an abandoned campfire into reigniting. I took the opportunity to point out that we should never leave a fire that is even remotely smouldering, so after poking it with sticks for a bit, the children drowned it with their water bottles.

Keeper of time - where have you gone?
These magic locations around the Macedon Ranges and wombat, these secret little spots, slowly I am doing all your caches and I fear there may be none left!
This spot was an absolute gem, beautiful. So green. Was this once a track?
Thank you - keep placing.

Set off on the wrong track and took the hard route. Cache soon found and returned the correct way.
After failing to find a nearby cache we were a little disheartened. Soldiered on and had a lovely walk to find this one. Thank you!!
We found the site, but after much searching we still hadn't found the cache and had to give up.
Great spot to put it, I came apon this one by accident. An adventure to find it.
Did not find the right trail. Went to coordinates given and found a road and trail. Both led away from the cache and could not see them turning back on our maps anywhere near the cache. Couldn't find another trail. Not keen on getting lost as we are only just learning how to use GPS. Will come back another time when we've more experience. Saving this one for later.
Went analog and used a map and compass, with a bit of god at the end. This meant a bit of bush bashing. Nice forest but the bloody marsh flies were a trial. TNLN TFTC

After missing a nearby cache 22 meters off the ground I decided I would try for a slightly easier one next. Thanks for the walk in the park...

Nice find bit of a hike to get here. Aimez and I decided to bush bash our way through and found the trail when we found the cache! Thankyou for the cache
Good walk lovely ferns. Cold day freezing actually first find for geosister and again took with u us our 94 y o German geomum
After a bucks night at a private golf course locally I woke feeling pretty good so I braved the cold windy weather and headed out for a day of caching in Mount Macedon!
Short walk at the end of the day to find this old cache.
GPS was bouncing all over the place but I managed a find it in an obvious location (and where I kept being circled back to)
Cache is in good condition!

Didn't find it. It would be worth asking the CO to check that it is still there. We spent a good 30 mins searching for it, with no luck. Lots of lolly wrappers on the ground at the GZ, but no recent cache logs. I think a muggle has moved it.
Found with Jack, Chloe and Mia.
Took: watch, magnifying glass, clip
Left: Easter, Army man, pen

Took a while but youngest boy found it. Hidden really well. Quality family time today.
I had terrible signal around the car park and took the wrong path. I was wondering why it was going so far east and not towards the gz.
Along that wayward path I found bloody treezilla. The thing was massive! The bottom was hollowed out so you could stand in it...... Felt like a 4 bedroom apartment it was that big.
Anyway I managed to get on the right track in the end. The ferns were stunning. You were right, the closer to the gz the better the signal.

Travelling around Australia and we are currently staying in Woodend.
Well with fine weather forecast we decided to head out to Hanging Rock and Mt Macedon.
Wow what beautiful scenery, and some great history shared with us too. It wasn't an easy day with many walks!
Mr Felix did this one on his own. What a great park. We saw maybe 30 or 40 bushwalkers with their hiking packs on whilst we were here.
A truly rewarding caching day.

Very exciting as first cache ever for my sister! Found it quite easily whilst wrangling two toddlers who insisted on being piggy backed the whole way!:)
Found on a foggy afternoon with two toddlers requesting a piggy back the whole way! Lucky it wasn't too far from the car park! First cache ever for my sister..
After a lovely cup of tea in the picnic ground, we packed up our snacks and headed off to find the trail. We weren't convinced at first that we were on the right trail, but as the metres to the cache decreased, we got excited and kept moving forward amidst all of the ferns and bush. Finally we found the GZ and quickly located the cache.
Recommend good walking shoes and long pants to avoid geo-kids getting legs scratched by ferns as it is quite overgrown at places along the track. TFTC.

After a few wrong turns because we didn't read the clues properly, we finally arrived at the co ords in order to start searching for the cache. Some of the ferns around were taller than our geokids. Thanks for this cache.
TFTC. Was a nice foggy afternoon. A first cache find for my sister and my nephew!
Enjoyable walk with children. Path overgrown in areas and a few fallen trees to climb over.
Found today as one of a trio of Geo's we hunted. Track is definitely overgrown and we have the cuts on our legs to prove it. Was good to find it in the end though =]
Had a nice walk in the bush! Thanks for showing the place!

Found at 1400 with GeoKids and GeoGranny. TFTC! Nice easy find. Saw a leech but thankfully on the ground only. Lovely cool day for walking!
This was a great walk in the forest to get to the cache. Luckily I assumed to go left at the fork in the track and this proved to be correct. It was a quick find of the cache at GZ.
Thanks for another nice walk Keeper of Time

Finally our first find in this area. Parked next to the huge row of pines and hoped we had the right track... we did. Nice gentle walk with an easy find at the end. Flynn and his mum had a lightsabre fight the whole way. I guess they thought they were in some ewok forest.
We'd skipped the cache up the road as we didn't feel like walking through mud and wet grass. This one however, presented us with a great walk along a not so sloshy trail to GZ. Thanks for bringing us here. We remarked on the neatly manicured lawn area and sequoia trees at the start of the trail, obviously it has been a picnic area for a long time. Thanks for the cache.
Took a nice walk through the forrest. Geotracks attest to coverage issues, but easily found in the end.
I must remember not to wear runners caching! Got wet feet but I also got the cache TFTC Keeper of Time

Bush bashed my way to the cache, then followed the easier-to-traverse and overgrown path on my way out.
Nice hide a little overgrown hadn't been found in a while had to bush bash.

First find of the day. Had a bit of trouble with this one as the track is not as well marked as it was when the cache was placed. found it with Misselaneius after a bit of back tracking. TFTC

As many others have noted, the track for this one is not the main track - we went a long way off before we realised where we had gone wrong. There was bush bashing involved, and with dodgy GPS reception (bouncing around in all directions) I was lucky to find this one with some hints from MadBoy42 (who has an actual GPSr and not a mobile phone) but was very pleased to find it eventually.. strangely right near the track!
Keeper of Time, Thanks for a quality cache!
