Camped at Jourama Falls campground for the night, I had got all the info for this cache before we drove in.Drove to the Falls walk carpark, and MrT headed up while I birdwatched at the carpark. After looking at the "not much water coming over the falls", MrT made his way to GZ for a quick find. No ants today! Signed log and returned as found. TFTC

A caching trip from Canberra, ACT to Cape York, Qld and then around the gulf to East Arnhem Land, NT. TFTC. A nice hike with excellent views.Took ages to find the cache but in the end it was quite close to GZ and quite large.Opened it up and out came the ants. Hundreds of them. Not sure what they eat as the log isn't in too bad a condition.Glad I made this impulsive decision to come out here.

What our German friend in the log below is trying to say is:"Too bad... But I also didn't have the appropriate shoes to be able to really look."Well, I did have appropriate shoes, and still didn't find anything. In spite of the hint, which, I must say, describes an abundance of locations in the area. Being a steep slope, the GPSr also plays tricks...The terrain was difficult, the weather hot, and my friend waited below, so I only gave the search some 15 minutes. But one goal was reached anyway. It brought us to this location, and that is perhaps the main purpose with geocaching, the way I see it. My friend, living in Townsville for decades, has been to the pools several times during the years, but had never been up to the view point. Even though he is a muggle, Geocaching brought him here, and he was thankful. After the search, we went down to the pools for a picnic lunch and a swim or two. What a delightful spot! TFTC!// e-scape (visiting from Sweden)

Having found this cache all the way back in 2017 I came past here again today during a hike to the top of Jourama Falls and then further to Black Hole Falls.
The cache is all good as per the recent log.
The steep hike up to the falls is worth the struggle, although no direct infinity pool type of view at the edge of Jourama Falls is easily achievable. Still stunning and refreshing pools up there. The marked trail from there up along the ridge towards Black Hole Falls was good as well with some fun rope sections. Best was rock hopping back from Black Hole Falls though along the creek until reaching Jourama Falls again. Numerous small waterfalls along that way while the creek was about less than half filled this time of the year. We also met a local along the way near the cache

I stopped by for an impromptu swim after grabbing an FTF in Ingham this morning. The hole in the container that was mentioned in a log way back in 2014 has grown a little from fire damage and there were a few ants inside, but they were easy to shake off. Despite this the logbook was in reasonable condition. The next time I visit I'll repair/replace both, but I don't think there's any rush as it's survived this long.
Happy hunting.

I was unable to sign this cache due to a infestation of bull ants. The location was amazing and I do have photos for verification if needed. In addition we found a lovely snakeskin next to the cache.

What an awesome spot. Some great waterfalls. We found this one. No ants in it today but evidence of them. Found this then headed down to the hotpools for a swim.

31-Jul-22
Favourite point for the view and we have left a good trackable for the next visitor. We didn’t sign the log, pen was all ready but there were about 20 bill ants inside the container. Narrowly missed getting bitten. Just enough time to drop the trackable in. So beware!

Thanks Burgo78 and Geocaching Townsville.
There is a new viewing platform at GZ (or close to) and the location is gold!!

We arrived at GZ, and noticing that this one has been disabled, we had decided to come for a walk with a good replacement which should last a long time.
In the end, we did not need to add a replacement as the original hide is in very good condition.
We have checked that everything inside is dry, and it certainly is.
We are hoping that the CO may be able to enable this one again as it is an old one and still in very good condition.
The location is also outstanding.
No sign of any wasps in sight today.
Photo of the Hide and container added here from the distance.
Thanks Wedgetail for this hide in such an awesome location.

It is damaged by the controlled bush fire on one side, so it isn't water proof anymore. Moved it 0.5m up to protect it a bit more.
Found a TB.
Thanks, greetings from Belgium.

Enjoyed the walk up hiding toy ferries along the way for the smallest member of the team to hone their search skills. View great from the top and searched for cache in between steady stream of mugglers. Dropped little-blue trackable who’s goal is to visit places with a scenic view. Thank you Wedgetail for the cache.

15-Jun-18
Take your gloves for this one.there are inch long ants inside. Otherwise all ok.

26-May-18
Well, this took me way longer than it should have! Am visiting the area and during the walk to the falls decided to check and see if there was a cache in the area. Service is very patchy but one little area managed to get some signal and yes, there is a cache! Checked out the amazing view and then started the hunt. Got to GZ according to device but no cache. After spending waaaay too much time climbing around checking everything and trying to look casual when other people came to the lookout I eventually had success about 9m from GZ, yay! After braving the giant ants guarding the contents of the container I managed to sign the logbook and get a smiley.

We camped at the very nice and well equipped camping area further down the mountain and visited the waterfall today. Australian waterfalls are obviously not too impressive during dry season, but it was anyways a very nice day. The cache is in very good shape and it was an easy find by sticking exactly to the coordinates. Got some TBs

02-Jul-17
Great walk to the Lookout even on a grey and showery day. Had a short look but the combination of a muggle family and GPS not cooperating meant a negative result.

30-Sep-16
Nice walk through the creek, ascent was warm even in the morning for the whole family. Found after looking around a few rocks, swapped trackables. TFTC Wedgetail.

26-Sep-16
We struggled our way up to the lookout to discover that we needed to climb even a bit further for this geocache! We got it and R!anka dropped her trackable. Hopefully this will be the start of some great adventures.
Great site for a cache by the way!

Ow my! This was defently worth the walk! We enjoyed the View and the steep Travel up Hill.
Thanks so much for this cache.

Today we explored Ingham and surrounds to find the caches that we had not done since our last visit and this was one of them.

This was a great walk to GZ taking in the views of the waterholes and finally the grand waterfall. Well this is why we love geocaching, taking us to places like this, adding to our favourites. At GZ we made a quick find.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

TFTC found it with moluccensis
Someone's been nibbling on this one!

11-Sep-16
Gorgeous walk and view, TFTC! The cache has had some rodent attention, so it won't stay dry for long. We didn't have any material to fix it so if someone has some duct tape to fix it up, bring it up the hill!

16-Aug-16
As we approached the rocky pools it started to rain, so we were hesitant to climb to the top. The cache persuaded us and it was a good thing. The rain stopped and we had a great view and a quick find. The biggest container we've seen in Australia! Thanks Big Grin

What a great view of the falls. Luckily the muggles left pretty quickly. So Mrs Jeansi could follow the goat track up and after some hunting around found the right place

03-Aug-16
Took a bit of looking but we found it

05-Jul-16
My not-so-Smart phone took me 10 Meters up and down, there were to many rocks and my family got nervous because of the risk of snakes, spiders and whatsoever.

Anyway, we saw a great place, that was worth the drive and the walk!
Greetings from Austria!

29-Jun-16
As if we haven't walked to enough waterfalls this trip Mr Beetle saw the sign to this one and decided that seeing it was only a short distance from the highway we would visit it. I only had a few kms with phone reception to see if there was a cache there and of course there was. Mr Beetle waited below while I hiked up to this one. The muggles at the lookout left soon after I arrived but then another group of 4 young foreigners turned up. I sat on the seat and waited, and waited, and waited. I did begin to wonder if they were geocachers too and they were waiting for me to leave to search. But no, they finally left and then I scrambled up the hill to where this great cache container was found in one of the first places the GPS took me to.
Thanks, a favourite point for a decent sized container [ over micros and nanos] and a great place to visit.

I had been working in Ingham for a couple of days and was now making my way back to Townsville to catch and evening flight home to Melbourne. Having left Ingham without finding a cache in the town itself, I took a small detour to come hunting this cache.

Still dressed for business...and a little overdressed for cache hunting...I set off on the final 600 metre walk to the lookout. Although it was quite late in the afternoon, it was still rather warm and humid so was rather tough going for an unfit "old-fart" from Melbourne. Still, I made it to the lookout without keeling over and, after a short rest, set about hunting for this cache. Half an hour later, I was still hunting...how hard could it be?

With the light starting to fade, I was about ready to give this one up for a Sad...but before I left I thought I would have one more look around...and I went a bit further than before in one direction...and Big Grin, there was the cache. I quickly signed the log, left a Trackable and then made my way back to the car in the last of the light...it was dark by the time I made the highway so no more caches today...I had a plane to catch!

If you are around to read this, thanks Wedgetail for the cache...it was a bit of fun even if it was rather frustrating.

What a gorgeous walk to this one....really excellent path....all bitumen, rock/concrete steps or rubber matting. Jourama Falls is really just Jourama Trickle at the momentRazz but still worth the lovely walk.

Looks like something has been chewing away at the cache so we made a hasty repair with some duct tape we had with us.

A big dark coloured goanna had a good look at us from up ahead on the path before moving nonchalantly back into the bushBig Grin

Many thanks for the cache Wedgetail[^]

My favorite GC for the day and one of the best in Australia so far. Absolutely recommendet! There is just a small point which makes me crazy. Why are the last meters so unnesseray difficult??? It's also dangerous and the climb is a risk!
Anyway, I take this risk, sign the log and enjoy the marvellous view! Amazing and breathtaking! Nothing seen before like this.
Thanks to bring me up here. Greetings from a german traveller

T03:08Z,

On our way from Brisbane to Cairns, we stopped at some sightseeings and lookouts. One of these stopps was at the Jourama Falls. So I could climb to the Geocache and after a short search of the area, I found it in good condition.

Thanks & greetings from Germany
