Logs
Out of action due to a disgracefull act of a local muggle who has indicated they most likely live within veiwing distance of the cache and therefore the cache location is not safe Sorry to the last finder for the unwanted surprise
Couldnt find it last time at xmas - and swear it wasnt there.
Was busy telling Mrs TWS that it was going to be hard, when she said here it is.
Sort of strange - I think someone had been removing it and replacing it - anyway, it was up on some paper in full view in the hole.
No log book, so inserted my buisness card and rehid better.
There are some strange chaps out there.

I see TWS found the container the next day. Hope he didn't get any of the remaining liquid on his hands. But let's start at the beginning... I arrive at the cache site to find a long strip of paper hanging from a hole in the tree. Written on it are the words "We caught ya. Ring me 0275 484932". Hmmm, obviously the previous cachers weren't as careful as they thought. So I look in the hidey hole and find the 35mm film cannister. Now here it gets interesting - I SUSPECT some kind of 'surprise', but still open it like you would normally. POP a liquid spills over my hands. Sigh. It couldn't be, could it? Sniff. Amonia. Oh hell, it is. Human waste. Brilliant. Luckily I have water and alcohol based sanitiser in the car, and none of it went over clothes or equipment. I took the log as evidence (mostly for the phone number - feel free to ring ) and emailed the cache owners upon return (sorry it's taken me a while to get the time to log this). Now, I propose TWS's log needs to be removed as all he found was an empty container . I still have the log, so when he comes here he can find it, sign it and then claim this after all. (evil laugh). TFTC - it will be a useful experience to entertain people at events.
Good news is - we found cache after going by earlier to find a muggle on the grass in the middle of the field so came back later. Bad news is -yucky rubbish, broken glass etc. (#340, 5/7)
Dang - this was not able to be found when we searched, but I see once again you have made a good owner note between our unfinding it and logging. So I won't post a DNF here. Pity it wasn't there to find. Never mind.
Was there with One-Fang but will try again another day.
It was sad that there was so much glass round this area, I rode almost up to the cache looking at my GPS and nearly missed seeing it. Luckily my bike tires were spared this time.
I now understand your concern as a child reading the black stone
Thanks for brining us here.

DNF for the two of us too. The likely location was pretty obvious, but it wasn't there.
We had an hour left before our friends Don Keyotee and us departed in different directions after a geocaching weekend,so we did a 60 minute Geocache raid on Ashburton and found 10 in 60 minutes.
Fitting that this was the last cache in Ashburton as we did quite a few Team Chelmo caches over the weekend, Thanks guys for giving us the grand tour.

Great hiding place. Log book almost full -onto last page. Hadn't been to this park before either
Nice little hidey hole. Interested to see on the memorial someone named "Schrowder" a possible mispelling of our name shouldn't have needed a "W" but may have included it to get pronounciation right. Some also used to include an "E" there. TFTC.
A lovely spot with lots of history in a part of town that I don't usually go.
A very quick find on a wet day, walked straight to it, the log book is pretty full in this cache, cheers.

It was well and truely snowing by now - PB made the short dash through the large fluffy flakes to get this one, while Annie supervised from the warmth inside the cachemobile!!!
Would like to find out more of the history of the area and why it was turned into a park.

Passed by this one a while back, but the place was full of mugglets... no problem this time TNLN TFTC
I see what you ment about the black object,,So its good to have a cache close by so others can check this place and history out,,thanks
Paper road nearby didn't help initially. Should have read the cache NAME before searching in the wrong place too. But in the end was a good find and a nice hiding place.
We always seem to visit such sites at dusk or just after dark! Easy find, the names on the black object get you thinking.

Arrived in nasty weather at the park to see someone wandering around with a GPSr in hand. Turned out to be ADV. He had been searching for about 15 minutes or so. We both looked for a minute or two more before I found it. I'm writing this log three days later and I note he hasn't logged his find yet. But he most definitely has! (found it, that is.)
Found on day 2 of a 5 day Canterbury Cache-a-thon so waited till I was home again to write up the logs.
Had just about given up on this one when U.N.C.L.E appeared on the scene so carried on the search. Many thanks to U.N.C.L.E. for the help on this one. Annoyingly I had been within inches of the cache and didn't know it.
I can certainly understand Team chelmo's comments about the location in the description, that one would always play on your mind. TFTC

I can understand if you'd played on this park for ages before realising its history that you'd be a little ummm, spooked. Good use of the land for both the present and the past. TFTC!

Been here once in my early days of caching and never found it, looks like experiance has helped as it was an easy find today. A bit of a reserve with a difference! Thanks.
Yippee our first find. We had tried to find another cache before this one but it was too hard without a GPS. Kicked a ball around. Helped M and D check out the trees. D found it in the end and showed me where it went I loved the hiding spot.
Mum read about Geocaching online and wanted to give it a try.
As we didn't have a GPS or compass and no idea what we were looking for Mum ended up searching a large area. Dad found it in the end.

This was our first find. Quite straight forward. Husband found it as I didn't keep looking long enough.
Pleasent day was very pleased to be able to add to the log and replace it.
I don't think I would like playing there now either now I know what is on the black thing.

1066 found this. Quite an unusual find. Its a wonder muggle children don't find this one.
919 Found this on the way down to Chelmos Summer Chit Chat in Ashburton. Interesting little spot.
An easy find on the way to Chelmo's Summer Chit Chat caching event. Did give us pause to think visiting the monument close by.
A quick find, and then onto the black item.
Always interesting to see the previous life of a geocaching site! This one certainly had an unexpected twist. Thanks.

A tad tricky without GPS, but comments in notes made interesting looking around the area too - always good to learn something. Encrypted clue needs broad interpretation.
Nice cache - exactly where it should be. Had a look at the black object, can certainly understand finding it a little disconcerting. Thanks.
Easy find - on my way out to "G is for Geocache". Sombre history indeed!! Could I say that the cache location is "holey" ground?? Thanks and cheers from Grandalf(634)
A quick grab on the way down south. Unfortunately my map did not show the park, and we parked in the wrong street. I got bitten by the barbed wire! TFTC.
Sixth find for the day, heading south. Nice and easy find. Be warned that there's stinging nettles around!

Found this quickly after looking at the other monuments in the area. TFTC. TNLN obviously. Hatas
Fifth of 6 caches found today by Sir Rick and Pippi.
We went for a hunt while Lady Jan was working on this wonderful Monday Holiday.
Found the park and the general site without any trouble.
my original thoughts as to the location of the canister proved fuitless. A bit of a look around, and then another possible place was seen - and successful.
Cheers Captain McLean.

Located trhe cache without truoble, GPS bang on. 4th and last cache of the day in Ashburton. On to visit father for fathers day. TNLN.
I thought this spot was very creepy! Didn't know it was here 'though have spent some time in Ash Vegas in the long distant past. Council should do something with this piece of land, like make a more fitting memorial. Cheers Team Chelmo.
#4 of our Team Chelmo Geocache hunt today while making a visit to family in Ashburton. They had to wait until we had done the "important" stuff first!!
We can understand why your feelings changed!
Talked to an old local while we were there - he had some very interesting historical info to share with us as well.

Thanks Team Chelmo

1148. This was our final cache find for the day as light was rapidly fading. Today has been our first big day out caching for a while and although we have had to move more slowly than usual and keep to caches that were on the flat and we could drive to, we have had a great time.
Thanks

The team thought it was fate finding "Mountie MacLean" Travel bug the day after this cache was published, so we thought we should bring him for a visit. Maybe a long lost relative?
