Passed this one on my way to pick off FTF on a new cache nearby. Took me a bit, but got there.

Today was supposed to be a mountain bike ride, but with a bearing in my pedal exploding I was on plan B.
With the bike shops finally open i was able to get some new pedals and about 3 hours later than planned I was off. I rarely cache while I am mountain biking, but with the late start I decided some rest stops would be good.
This was not really part of my planned ride. Not my kind of trail. Don't think it sees to much action at all.
Nice quick find here thanks. All good here too.

Day 15 of a 3 week holiday driving from Canberra to Townsville and back to attend the Mega. Today my focus was completing The Saint, and finding some of the Golden Oldies caches. Cache easily found, once I arrived at GZ. Finding where to start was tricky and then it was a steady slog to the top. Great views, although rather overcast and rainy this afternoon. TFTC.

The hike to this cache looked interesting so we thought we’d give it a go this arvo.
The trail started off easy walking but further along and higher up there were a few scrambles at the steeper bits. Pretty slippery in places too. And to think some people do this trail on mountain bikes these days.
Beautiful views here and a well hidden cache. How nice to see the original logbook. We like reading through the early logs.
It was a good location to watch the planes landing at the airport too.
Thanks for the cache. The hike was a good workout.

I woke up this morning and said…. I’m going to do it.
With a quick change into my geocaching Townsville shirt, sunflower pants and runners I was off.
I messaged BenM70 for coords for the parking spot and was able to find it no worries. Walk was interesting. Found it tricky to work out which path to take up. I did find a fitting sign for geocachers. I stopped lots. I’m unfit. But it was nice to go at my own pace.
With a few scrambles up rocks and sitting and having a short panic attack because it was so windy. Lucky there is lots of me to anchor myself. I didn’t always stick to the paths
I was able to find the cache pretty easily enough. I enjoyed going through the logbook and reading the names of the geocachers who had been there before.
Getting from the GZ back to the car was the scary bit. My first fall. I smashed my phone into the rocks (I don’t know how there isnt a crack in it). After this, I fell over multiple times, slid down rocks on my bottom and rolled my ankle once, mistook rubble. There is lots of rubble. I only fell over 7 times.
This cache has been an exciting one because I am able to clear off this D/T grid, step closer to the Goldie Oldies challenge and it was the first time that I did something like this by myself (best challenge of all). Even Burgo78 had a friend with him.
Thanks for the cache & the views.

My respect to everyone going down the track nearby!
Even hiking up / down isn’t easy. With the steep slope and that constant fear of being overrun by a mountain bike this certainly wasn’t an easy cache. But I attempted it close to sunset to avoid the crowds and judging by the spiderwebs along the trail there aren’t that many people riding down here anyway.
Quite rewarding views up here. Thank you very much.

We left our hotel with Mr 4ando saying this hike will be pretty easy I think. Parking the car his attitude changed to, I think I may have under estimated this climb and yep he had!
We did lots of rock scrambling, all fours a lot of the time and a couple of times I did not want to look back over my shoulder.
Finally reaching the top covered in dirt and our finger nails caked with dirt from clinging on, Mr 4ando goes, oh look, I thought that there could of been an easier way to get up here!
We managed to find all 5 of the caches up here before returning to the car to go and get slurpees!

The surrounding Townsville area looks breathtaking from up here. Almost as breathtaking as the number used to traverse to this point. Top cache.
Ambled up along the ridge (mostly 'The long way' and 'Spiderbait' trails) from Douglas this morning on a solo mission mainly to find this cache. Saw some wildlife but no other hikers or bikers. Found after admiring the view and carefully searching a bit. Given the age the cache is in very good condition. S.L and replaced as found. Thanks for a very enjoyable walk mac100. After replacing the cache and climbing back up past the big rock something small, grey/brown and legless slithered in under the rock near where I left the cache. That gave me a surprise but it was moving away. Got a bigger surprise back along the track a few minutes later getting within a m or 2 something much larger, scaly, legless, black and with a reddish tinge. Up here on my own with a phone and probably a bandage in the geo bag I didn't stop to get a good look or better acquainted.... bit jumpy squirrel after that heading back east.
Somethings fell into place which meant a trip to town was on the cards so we got planning on what to do and which puzzles to try and solve.
Being this side of town we had thought of doing this a bit later in the day but feeling up to it we set off. Certainly a huge range of tracks and fortunately it was not a bike day. Some steep parts as we headed up and up but with a reward of good views. Saw the memorial to Smudge on top and the a quick search revealed the cache from the right position. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC.

Beautiful spot. Enjoyed the hike. Quick find with BlackPearl26. Snake near GZ so be careful. Tftc. FP.
Picked up 6 of the archived 'MS GYSO' caches along the route (only 3 DNF's). Check my logs for details as they are worth the effort and add to available caches in the area.

YES!!! 500th Cache!!!
My very first find was one of yours at Paluma Dam on the 22/05/15 and got me hooked on the game. I had been saving this one for a special occasion and today was it, 500 caches. So up the hill I went and what an awesome climb it was, I enjoyed it thoroughly. Hard climb, perfect placement, Great view all what the game is about. Thank you for your caches in the most awesome places which makes all of yours a favourite of mine, I am looking forward to my 750th which will be Mt Fox.

After finding Big Monkeys I set off further up the trail which was much easier from this point. Well stocked cache and I was going to drop a TB but as it has been June 2015 since last log I decided against it. Thanks for the cache
Now how to get back. After signing the log of both caches we tried to find the way back home to the car. In order to cut some time off as it was getting dark, we went bushbashing downhill. lots of mountain bike people here. Eventually we got back to the car, just as it got dark and poor mum slipped on the last few meters of the trail. battered and bruised we got back home. time for a rum and coke or two. tftc sl tnln
Good cool morning for a walk up here. Parked at the gate and set off upwards. Good tracks even though very steep in some sections.
The views and the breeze on the summit was a good reward for the hike up. Cache found at almost perfect coordinates and in perfect condition too.

Wow this was a tough one to get to - be careful! Lovely views though! Compass kept jumping around. Took nothing left something.
Not so easy find for us but enjoyed the walk up here, found while training for Miss Muddy event with the Mudsketeers Bubbagump25 and Geo_KG TFTC
Was a little tedious to find. Compass jumped around a fair bit and pointed us to the wrong side. Trust in the first instinct though, we went back and found it. With Bubagump25 Jimbron84.
Last had a look for this one 3? years ago up here on a MTB. Lost fitness and didn't come back until yesterday! Great cache, amazing views, sneaky location. Took nothing, left nothing wasn't very prepared!
FIND NUMBER 1,500!
As planned, three solid days caching in Townsville, focussing only on higher terrain caches and puzzles, saw a mini milestome roll around. I was tossing up which cache to do for this milestone and I kept returning to this one. Last year I had completed the now archived GYSO series. As I was attempting the alphabet challenge, I walked past this one and C2M's nearby hilltop offering, even though I had climbed to the ridge line from the bottom as intended. It has bothered me ever since that I never collected this cache.
Today, I decided to walk the ridge line from the water towers, as an easier change to the other route. From the outset, my legs protested after the hills that have been climbed in the past few days.
Slowly I trudged up the ridge, bypassing C2M's cache and heading straight for this one. On the second hilltop, I played chasey with a wallaby who kept bouncing away from me down the track I was on. Finally I made the rocky knoll, where a pleasant breeze cooled me. After reading the hint, I spied an unusual rock structure, which looked likely. A bit of a slip and a slide and the container was soon in my hand.
I returned to the top for the signing formalities, the cool breeze and a few photos of the great view. The return hike, picking up C2M's hilltop cache was quite eventful, as some mountainbikers screamed down the long way home past me.
Thanks for the cache, Mac100. It is a beauty - and I do love a hike in the hills. Easy favourite point from me.

After spending the last five days down in Victoria with family geoD needed some exercise. Taking the long way to the top on a mountain bike sure meant earning everyone of those terrain stars today.
Not too proud to admit the bike got pushed rather than ridden the last forty metres or so and there were some five slow speed offs on the way up and back down.
In the end the cache and the view were reward enough to make the trip worthwhile.

Back to mop up the remaining caches located in this particular area with MattCNS after having completed the nearby Power Trail a week or so ago. Great views from this spot. Well worth the hike. TFTC mac100. Great spot indeed. TNLN SL {#290}.

Wow! Simply spectacular.i am so glad a friend from home recommended this one. Terrain was fine, but a blowy day may have been a different story! Picked up an interesting Geocoin....hmmm I wonder what this does.
I will be recommending this to any friends visiting Townsville in the future. Thanks so much. Fave pt and a highlight of the trip.

My favourite cache of 2013, even if the year is only 10 days old.
I'm sure this one will be one of the favourites of 2013 all year.
Great to see the nice big muggle and animal proof container.
A bit of a musty smell inside but all the contents were dry as a bone.
Took some great photo's of Townsville and surrounding scenery.
Love your work mac100.
Cheers and happy caching

As we were in the area (literally) we quickly ducked up the extra 200 meters to grab this one.

This one has long stood on my list of unfound caches in Townsville and finally I was able to approach this on the GYSO PT after "I'm Buggered". Walked to the end of the spur and spotted the likely GZ on the way down the scree slope of death. Stopped at the top for refreshment and then approached it from behind which was much safer. A great hiding spot that should last forever. Signed and replaced.
Ninth find of the GYSO PT which this cache is now part of.
Thanks!

Santa's son on an afternoon ride... This was a nice easy ride.... Haha nice view of the area.... Would love to take the family up there but I don't think they'll make it.... 1700h
at last[^] this cache has been on the to do list for a long time!!! started this one on the road near the enabler and went up the service road then cross country up the hill when we arrived at the top we noticed there is quite a mellow track that leads right to the cache ,so at the moment with no grass this hide is easily accessed from the purple cache via teales on top of the world> ( go straight up the hill it's much more fun!!! ) hopped down to the caches lair ( take care it's a bit slippery ) and found the beast sitting outside it's cave which made an easy find sl. tnln. TFTC mac100 replaced cache in it's home and shut the door. FAVOURITE
Completed this one with my 8 yo Princess. The grass in the area has grown and from the direction i came, the track was difficult to find. I generally allow the kids to find the actual cache but where this one is hidden is a little dangerous so i retrieved and replaced. Very proud of Tash for seeing this one through.
Holy ccccc I'm so unfit nearly died getting there lol nice view thou TFTC my muscles got a good work out lol

How dumb am I for starting this one at dusk?
It's surprising how well the lights of the city illuminated the hill I didn't need a torch on the way up.
Great views of the city lights from the peak.
Coming down with the city lights shining in my face it was hard to tell the difference between rocks and grass sometimes and about half way down i dragged out the torch and immediately wished I'd done that sooner or brought a headlamp along.
Great cache that ticks another box in my project 81 (quite a rare one too!)
Thanks for the challenge

I am glad I came to this one from the direction I did as the climb up from that road looks torturous. I started the day at the Purple cache where I parked my car. Then followed the path over past Teales cache then down the ridge to this. Clear paths all the way just have to watch out for Mountain Bikers as they have right of way.
I time myself back to the car from this cache and it was 20 minutes. A much better use of time than coming up the steep way I believe.
The cache was found OK in a spot that seemed fairly obvious. The views were fantastic.

The first thing that attracted me about this cache is it's difficult/terrain combination. 1 / 4.5 is not a combination I have (or had!)
I checked the logs. Team Lokipagan were last to find it. That dodgey mob probably faked a find I was a little worried about the terrain rating given -:
a) I was alone
b) It was steaming hot
c) it had been raining
I thought I would give it a crack anyway. I found the entrance no problem and picked my way in. I think I probably made things a little more difficult myself with my chosen approach - about 195m from the cache. But it was an approach nonetheless Up the hill - slowly - in true Fangsoki style. Up to the ridge and then slowly made my way along to a... path Always the way. I followed the path up.. accross a saddle - the going was a little harder to the end but I finally spilled out up at the top. I took a few minutes to catch my breath. I was sweating copious amount - damn humid weather
I started the hunt for the cache and I found after a while - in excellent condition. It was a little exposed - so I re-hid it a tadly better. I have posted the co-ords that worked for me today (this might help other finders).
Some great views up here. I followed the path down until it disappeared on me But the way down was a little easier to the main path. A great cache - easily gets a favourite from me. TFTC mac100

Got to the top, couldn't find it after a short search, ran back down to the car but was still late for an appointment.
Maybe try again on the weekend?

didnt make terain was terrible then our gps said to climb a big slope no chance on this one
Trundled up slowly but steadily from the enabler. We were a bit wary of how hard this would be but ended up being pleasantly surprised. Not a hard walk at all if you take it steady, although it gets quite steep at the end. A few slides on the way down but no major problems. The cache was found quickly once a cyclist enjoying the views had moved on. Also spotted some other walkers on the way down - certainly a popular spot! A lovely area and we were very lucky that the area has recently been burnt off which made the walk easier. Thanks for this great cache mac100
Got to the lookout on the MTB but didn't find the cache - didn't have a solid look around and the GPS was playing up. I'll be up here again next weekend and then it will be mine!
About a 3km MTB ride from Riverside Ridge if anyone is interested.

Tough hike up particularly if you follow the road too far and go up the southern ridge. Stumbled across a brown snake as well. Coming down was a little easier thanks to the tracks of previous visitors though the grass is slippery and the rocks loose so wear good footwear and pants. TFTC and the views on such a clear day T TB
There is absolutely no chance of accidential discovery for this one, it's a great view
My God!!! what a walk. This it the first 4.5 terrain stars I have attempted at my age.
Well worth it for the great view, but well beyond what I should try and attempt.
Going up was pure hard work, but coming down was agony on my crook knees.
Still having done it I wont have to try again?

What a view. WOW. This is what we enjoy about geocaching. Thanks for taking the time to place this cache. We left a laminated goecache pamphet explaining geocaching incase a muggle finds it.
First The Enabler and now T/Gowa View. OMG the four and a half stars difficulty and I should have said "Next time" but not me on my lunch break. Cache in good order with plenty of room in the log. Thanks for the hike and view TNLNSL TFTC
Well where do I start. This is my 2nd attempt the 1st attempt I approached the cache from a different way and stopped the climb as it was getting way to steep. I researched google maps and approached the cache from the far side. I parked the geo 4wd and proceeded along the path until I had to climb up. We about 50mts to go a rock slipped from under me and I smashed my knee a few swear words and a bandage late I was back on to the hunt. Once at GZ the cache was easily found. I wasn't looking forward to the climb down but did notice a small walking track along the ridge line that takes you back to the gravel road. I was so relieved to see the car. This is a very hard climb and I thank you for the challenge. T - GC L N. I was so glad to find this cache I never have to come back here again : )
Found today with Townsvillian on our second try at this cache. Took the longer but less steep route from the back of the uni, which starts at the end of the road to the chaplaincy. Glad to see the recent fires haven't harmed the cache although the surrounding area looks pretty well burnt. Turns out we weren't far off the last time we tried this cache, if only we had've had a bit more time to search then. Had a lot of fun climbing around the top and taking photos. TNLNSL TFTC
Found on my second attempt with kezz11 taking the much easier path we found on our last attempt. Spent way too much time taking photos though. Well worth the effort.

Good one Mac . Figured I'd hit the trail early and beat the heat. Many years since I have played in this type of terrain but glad I did. Anyway you will be happy to know that all is well at GZ. To those who have come so close, do try again it's worth it as you will know from the views. Took a penny and left some bandaids. TFAGH SL. Well worth the effort and dont forget folks, kids if not too young will handle this better than most adults. GZ was spot on. Met some interesting critters along the way to add to my photo collection. Once again TFCG.
Spent a good 2hrs to get to the top. Reached a point on the path where it was obvious the only way to the top was to climb. Made our own path through steep rocks and long grass. Was disappointed not to find the cache. This climb is definitely not for the faint hearted. Just a warning, bike track at the top in the other direction ends up at the University, and nowhere near where my GPS told me to park.
Tried to find it today made it to the top but to no avail, could not find the cache. Looked high and low and with daylight running out we had to give up.
Unfortunately I`ve suffered a serious medical problem and will no longer be able to visit this cache. If anyone wishes to take it over please feel free to do so. MAC100.
I had only planned on doing a reconnaissance on this one today to see how close the 4x4 track would take me but when I found myself within 180m of GZ I decided to go for it.The climb was not as hard as expected, took 30 mins.Co-ords spot on.The view from up here is breath taking,as is the climb.Only took 15 mins to get down as I took a more direct route and Gravity helped a bit too,it was very steep and slippery. Thanks mac100 for another great cache.Took nothing, left a pommy penny to keep the aussies company, signed log.
That was a pretty tough climb. Especially the second time since I had to go back up too look for my $250 sunglasses (which I found dropped down between the rocks I was sitting on whilst recovering). I'm definately not very smart. The walk back down is much easier on the heart but can be very slippery. The view was worth the pain though. Got some great pictures looking towards my house. I don't know if I went up the correct way but I parked about 500m from GZ and walked from there. I didn't find much of a track until I was about half way up. I tried to follow it on the way down (both times) but couldn't stay with it. Make sure you take plenty of water. Co-ordinates were spot on. I'm glad it wasn't up the next peak. Cache is in a great little hide and all is well. I would suggest doing this one in a group of at least two. Take a first aid kit just in case. I couldn't see my feet or what I was stepping on for about 200m of the walk. Telstra Digital phone worked well. I went for a drive afterwards and was able to get to within 180m of GZ by following a very rough 4x4 track. The climb looked very steep from here though and I wasn't prepared to try it as I had run out of water. Mabye another time. Anyway, nice spot and thanks for the pain. TNLNSL TFTC
Beautiful views and a nicely hidden cache. Good workout, wet underfoot but not too slippery. We left the car back on the road and the cache all up with a bit of time at the cache took approx 1 hour. TNLN. Thanks mac100
Well the terrain is rated 4.5 stars. We put it at about 6. Decided not to go down the way we came up but followed the ridge and then down. Good work out. GPS spot on. Beautiful views. Certainly worth the effort. Took the ambulance .... thought we may need it, and left the blue monkey.
Went for a 4x4 drive to within 500m of this one. A muggle pulled up beside me and wanted to talk. I didn't want to make the trek in the rain so I'll leave it for another time. Better take some water for the trip by the looks of it.
My most enjoyable cache trek to date, took muggle friend Lindy who was equally impressed, superb views didn't want to come down so had lunch on top. Cache was easily found which was appreciated after the climb up, don't think there is much risk of muggles getting up there to stumble onto it.
Thanks for a really enjoyable experience.

Well we were able to get out of work early today to attempt this one. I was a bit leary of tracking up here in work garb, but we made it to the top. The coord were right on! K1ax managed to attract the first tick we have seen here on this hike. Dropped in a few shell. K1ax rescued a tb SL TFTC
This had to be the best climb we made geo-caching in QLD so far, a bit of work but rewarded with a nice view. Took TB 558445 (heading back to the States); TFTC
Found at 17:00 after almost giving up the climb several times. I live about 3Km from the site but never been up there (now I know why). Shame the ambulance in the cache wasn't a bit larger, it could have taken me home. Saw "Crazy Car" in the cache. I think he wanted to get moving but I wasn't sure of the rules for travel bugs so I left him there. Might go back and get him when I'm a bit more fit. TNLN.
Thanks for the cache - good exercise

What a challenge had a ball climbing the hill to get to this one, it would have to be one of the best so far i hope there are more just as hard as this one. Took muggle Matty on this journey as a bit of back up. The views from here are awesome, we saw lots of Townsville that we haven't seen before. Didn't see much wildlife or muggles except for the one on the journey with me. Thanks Mac100 for a this challenging cache.

Sitting at the top I found myself needing a sanity check 35 deg C and 100% humidity but the view and the cool breeze was worth it. Took the geocoin left Route 66 TB from Bowerbird Blue. Managed to make it down intact Great cache thanks.
Found this one. I'm not sure that it is one for families, although one junior member of our team made it up. Great view from the top, but the climb up and down was really "hardcore geocaching" Great spot, I remember scrambling over these hills as a young fellow. We didn't see much wildlife except for a stick insect and a small snake. Lots of kangaroo tracks, but none go to the cache .
Left a Geocoin and a scoubi keyring, took a power band.
Thanks for the cache

Wow! We made it to the top and what a challenge to get there one that was just a bit to much for burdair jnr although for him it was more a case of way to much grass to walk through rather then the climb itself. I ask him would he like me to buy mac100 a brushcutter for xmas which put a smile on his face. The effort to get to the top of the hill is well and truely worthy of the 4.5 star terrain rating it has. But while you are catching your breath at the top you are certainly rewarded with what would have to be one of the best over all views of Townsville that is available in the area.
We were just signing the log when we heard faint screams from burdair jnr fearing he was hurt we made a speedy dash across the top of the hill but alas he was ok he had just grown concerned about our well being thought we had been attacked by snakes.
Ok we got up but hmm how do we get down? At this point in time you start thinking we come up here why and why doesnt this cache have a 6 star rating. You certainly have to watch your footing as it is OH so easy to take a rather quick slide downhill which results in you landing our your butt.
This outing certainly gave us something to talk about on our trek home. Thanks mac 100
SL We didnt exchange anything but we did pick up the geonickle thinking it was a TB of some sort so we thought burdair jnr would like to look at it. Sorry for this mistake but the cache is still pretty well stocked.

After a couple of caches along the Ross River my sights were set on grabbing this one. Only one problem, I'm on the wrong side of the river [:o] Nice footbridge crosses the river nearby, so it's on with the hiking boots and off we go. Now which hill is it on, please not the big one
Still too far away to work it out.
Followed the trail and clambered up the steep rocky slope to arrive at the top of the mighty peak. With the cache found I sat down to rest and plot my retreat back to the car. I could see an easy way back
Took and eggcup and left an ambulance.
Grabbed the Keylock TB, Yeah It's Free !!
Not a bad spot to watch the planes landing at the airport either.

Wow... This was my first time climbing a mountain that high, and terrain that steep. Once I got up there, I was like a cat stuck in a tree for a little bit, with no idea of how to get down. You can't really see the trail from there either. I'm pretty sure that my jungle boots saved me from twisting my ankle on several occasions. My first thought when I got to the location was "oh no...there's a million places it could be", but luckily it was in a fairly obvious one. Excellent view from the top, and a fun journey to get there. Certainly a workout! SL, took a penny, left a custom wooden nickel from GeoNickels.com, and traded TB's. The new TB is a brand new one and should be fun! TFTC!
It would have to be around 20 years since I have been scrambling up and down hills like this, and right now the aches and pains tell me that is true.
If you visit this cache and notice an area that looks like a landslide has been down the hill, that was where I came down.
No cuts or scratches but son had a bit of a chuckle.
Expect a set of stairs for my next visit.
It may be a bit of a climb but the views are worth it.
Took TB Happy Camper for a camping trip.
Dave.

This one nearly killed us and Im not joking first geo husband knocked a boulder down the side of the mountain that just missed me then he had a tree jump out and bite him leaving a 1 inch cut on his cheek by far the hardest climb that I have done in future I think Ill leave the 4 and 5 ratings to him. although he loved 4wd up to it.don't try this one unless your super fit and be very careful of all the loose rocks. still it's all part of the game and it tests our boundries thanks for the cache.

Took white car, left two TBs
