Logs

Catching up with MattyRx recently, I mentioned that I've been attempting to walk all of Broadwater NPs trails, which really feels impossible. He mentioned this archived cache along a trail I was yet to do. I couldn't just walk past it. I had to have a sticky beak. Hahaha.

Of course I found about a much as Mr Rx did. I couldn't figure out where the stump would have been before disintegrating in a fire so didn't know where to dig. Cool old Banksia near GZ though. I'm sure that if anything did survive the fire way back when, then the trees here will eventually bring it to the surface...like in about 30 years.

I placed a glass bottle found nearby upside down in the ground at where i thought GZ might have been. I'm guessing it will roll away from there in the next few months with weather and animal activity though.

I've been searching for some of the local archived caches, and saw that there was slim possibility that this cache may be still in place - even though it's just ticked over 10 years since the last find. Looks like there may have been a fire though here, no sign of the hint. Found some broken glass, but pretty sure it was an old drink bottle, not a cache. Was worth a try!

The temptation to do some geocaching while we were down camping at Evans Head over the Easter Long Weekend was too much... So off we went to hunt down the local caches.

Pretty amazing that we had been camping at Evans Head for the last 5 years and had never even once come close to finding this spot before. Even spotted a couple hopping furries on the way to this cache.

The cache was a nice easy find and still in very good condition.

Dropped off a geocoin "WDD 2007 Commemorative Geocoin"

Thanks for the hunt

XC was driving back to Brisbane airport to fly home after visiting a friend in MacLean... Nice place.. But this place is too hot for this old salt...
I didn't have the picture clue so drove straight past and stopped at a couple of other signs... which seemed close to GZ..
Started to bush bash on a straight line to cache.. Aaarrgghh!!!! boggy ground and the trees got more dense.. and bushes were "grabbing" hold of me..
Hmmm this is not the way!! Yes.. I am a bit slow on the up take..!
On way back I must have disturbed a wasp cause he stung me on the arm..!!!!!! Yeeeeooowww!!!!!!! that smarts.. Are the wasps over in this foreign land carrying disease! Lol.
Back to car!! Whew... shall I give up..
drove back.. Hmm saw sign and fire break track..
Ah hah.. this is much better... walked in and got to GZ ok.. Nice hide.. It was so hot I was grateful to find a bandana in the cache.. so donned it immediately to soak up some kiwi sweat... and replaced it with Kiwi Key ring from cache bag.
Signed the log and replaced...

We had a little trouble finding the entrance from the road, although after consulting the map we found that we'd somehow already driven past it without noticing.

The walk in was really nice... the kids still had their shoes off from when they were down on the beach, but the track was quite ok for this.

Upon getting to GZ we found the cache immediately and made a couple of swaps before returning it & returning to the car. TFTC... a lovely area.
