This cache could do with some checking, a number of cachers have not found it since I'm logging this DNF.
PrincessDiala had been here in previous months looking for this one with no luck.
We redid all the calculations, and headed over to the presumed GZ....
If we had it right, it definately wasn't there!!!

Came back a second time to search for this one, unlike last time there were no muggles around, too cold & wet today.
Looked high & low but could not locate.
Looked high & low but could not locate.
Our sixteenth day of our honeymoon to New Zealand and Australia.
Today the real tour starts with leaving all hotels behind us and drive to our “freedom” with the Apollo Deluxe 6 persons camper van. This morning we had an early breakfast and enjoyed the last time that everything was already prepared and after checking out the ordered cab came to bring us to Apollo in Tullamarine. We arrived there about 8.30 AM and after filling in the required forms and watching the instruction video, they found out that there were some electrical problems. When that was fixed and we put our luggage in we discovered that the door of the van was not closing well. Many hours later, we left at 12.30 PM, we could drive to the shopping mall to visit Aldi and Coles. As it was already 3.00 PM we looked for a nearby place to stay and it became number 570 of the Camps, better known as Avalon Rest Area. Luckily there was also a multi cache, which we could do as the cache of the day. But after not finding it we drove a bit further for an easy traditional. Yes, just before it become dark we found it and logged it. Then we returned to the Avalon Rest Area for having a self-cooked mushroom soup, with sausages and baguette and a place to sleep.
We DID NOT found this cache today.
After driving the first kilometres with our camper van, which was also a new experience for us, we arrived at this parking area. First we had to look a bit where to park exactly the van and after we found a nice place and installed ourselves and our bed, we went out for doing this cache. The answers to the questions were quickly found and also the mathematics were no problem. And as expected the cache was not to far away. But how well we searched we found not find the cache. It is a pity as we loved to log this cache on our first camper van rest area ever, but we could not.

First tempt, just after new years, it was over 40oC on our way to Lorne, rushed out, took a snap of the front plaques and rushed back to car to do calculations for next time.
On my second attempt, I realised there must have been more plaques than on the front as i didn't have enought details in my happy snap, but guessed where it should have been logically as I could get one coord - but alas, there's a camper van right at GZ.
Third attempt, parked right next to it and found in first place I guessed.

Found after a quick rehash of the maths! Had worked this out at home after stopping and collecting the relevant info. However, on a trip down to Warrnambool, I managed to leave the co-ord's at home!
Stopped, quick maths & made my way to the GZ. Only one camper this morning ~ Right where I wanted to go!! Waited until they packed & moved on, prior to me making the find!
Cache in good condition!
Thanks Suitman for bringing me here!

finally managed to finish this cache on the way home from the Melb airport as the first time I visited with a friend we somehow didnt get the calculations correct. so after the help of of my partners brain, I was finially able to find this cache. Nice place to stop thanks
Geez... what a convoluted calculation, had to take extreme care as the Platypus is well known for getting his worms dixed and hos numbers confused as well. TNLN and the pen is U/S
Also lost my notes in the wind and had to jump puddles to get to the cache but found it ok in the end.
Found this one after some quick maths, had to take the cache to the car with me to find a pen, but all the ones I had were dead. So I ended up pulling one apart to get some ink.

Found this afternoon on my way home from a meeting in the big smoke. Had a little extra time, so grabbed this one on my way home. I've driven past this one twice a day since forever, but never had the choice. Car park was pretty empty, so after grabbing the dates and doing the complicated maths, it was an easy find. I will use this log to dip a TB from Germany who wanted to visit Melbourne. After my meeting today, I took the "Hot and Cold" TB for a walk around Melbourne and grabbed a heap of shots. Hope the owner is happy. This cache is kind of appropriate too, given the fact it honours Matthew Flinders.
The log is chockers, I had to sign on the back cover. Unusually, I didn't have a spare with me, or I'd have left one there.

Interesting bit of history here. I had stopped here a million times when it used to be the Rest Area, but I never ventured beyond the Toilet Block. Didn't even know it was here. Thanks for the introduction. Took "MAGNETIC FRAME" Left "MEASURING SPOONS" TFTC
Last month we did the maths but there were too many muggles and their vans about. Finally got to the GZ today.

Stopped on route to Geelong and did the math after reading of Matty's original 'cache log' on top of the nearby hills. Only problem was after the crunching was done there a caravan parked on GZ! So I introduced myself to the Couple there who joking asked me what I was looking for.. "Buried Treasure" they laughed.... until I turned around and said... "well yes, actually" they gave me puzzled looks until 30 seconds later when I uncovered the cache, and handed them the explanation card inside. We spent the next half hour chatting about caching and they could be new converts. They are travelling Oz for a year with the kids and are very interested in the hobby. I had such a good time I accidently lost my mobile phone there. Luckily they picked it up and Im getting it back! Log is Full. TFTC!

Drove up with plenty of mugglers around but by the time I had gathered the details and completed the calculations, all was clear for a quick collection, log entry and return to hide. The log book is all but full! TFTC
Had to back track with the car to get to a good parking spot. Once there, the hard calculation was done and was rewarded with an easy find. TFTH SL TNLN

found the 1st GZ--did all the sums and guess what--the GPS went flat!
so we decided to just walk around and see what we found---the cache--without the GPS!!!!
so the grandsons were very pleased.
there were muggles there, watching us as we cached, so had to be quick.

Having just made the detour down to the coast to get the "Kirk's Point" cache, I headed in the back way for this one. The road at the back of the service centre doesn't give access to the freeway, so I parked and walked the 150m to the posted co-ords where, after a bit of fumbling, I was able to calculate the required GZ and then head off for an easy find.
TNLN
Thanks suitman - I always particularly enjoy a cache which highlights a bit of history

Ok sometimes you have to just laugh.. We stopped here awhile ago and the numbers just weren't working and then the other times we have driven past it has been caravan city...so on the way home from the WWFM event we stopped. Still a couple of caravans but we used the "stopping for a quick toss of the frisbee" diversion and then noticed another plaque...now the maths makes sense! So while the frisbee players do their thing, mum works on solving the puzzle. Meanwhile geoteen goes for a walk and then casually drops the cache in my lap . So... finally.... TFTC TNLN!!

Found at 4:50PM on the 19th of Jan by Ray and Maya. We must have made some calculation error because our calculated GZ was some 25M from the cache location. Fortunately, its location had all the hallmarks of a cache hide, which were clearly visible from where we stood. I would love to try the original contents of the cache container. Where did you get them from? We took a notebook and left a Xstitch book mark. Thanks from The Nomads.
I wish I had a side kick like Master of the Dragon, it sure would save me some time! For some reason I thought this cache was in a different location, I was going to ignore it today but it popped up on TomTom and seemed quite easy to navigate too! I checked the camp trailors for any sign of movement but they must have still been in bed. With the coast clear I took down some numbers, made some calculations and found the cache quite easily. I enjoy these historical caches and am glad to have finally crossed this one off the list.
Thanks,

Found this with Teppwa whilst working in the local area and taking the morning off to do some caching. After debating the date format - dd/mm/yyyy or mm/dd/yyyy and realising it didn't make any difference, worked the co-ords and JE set off to retrieve the cahce. At first glance there appeared to be a litter bug at GZ but on closer examination it was revealed to be the cache (the cache was largely uncovered). After returning the cache and ensuring covered, JE developed a craving for wasabi peas.

I found the information last year, but was unable to risk a search as there was an occupied car nearby facing GZ. I was again heading down to Geelong to visit a client and, as I was running ahead of schedule, called by to visit this cache again.
This time there was no-one near GZ and the cache was a nice quick find. My GPS led me straight to it. Thanks for the history, and for the cache.

Found this cache just after 6pm today. It was my first day back at work after beginning geocaching during the holidays, so I could hardly let a cache this close to my commute go by! Besides I was a bit tired, so a good spot for a break. Interesting to read all of the plaques. Definitely had to pay attention at this end of the day to get the maths right!
A well-stocked cache. I didn't really have anything good enough for a trade, BUT I accidentally pocketed one item while trying to balance everything in the wind and write in the log! Oops! Not used to doing this without the kids to lend a helping hand. Luckily it wasn't something major.

... as I had shot past "Melbourne's First" on the way down, not knowing that it was actually not really anywhere near Melbourne, had to find a cache to leave the TB that wanted to go there behind, as I was about to start heading east, and further away. It all fell into place quite nicely and the cache grabbed not long after. Thanks for the informative stop too [^] - nice bit of history, especially for a surveyor cheers
G'day Suitman,
I found your cache today at 5:20pm as the fourteenth of eighteen on my "Home Alone Caching Expedition". I was debating whether to go here first or to The Captain Kirk Trek Cache. Luckily, I chose very wisely as there is no easy access had I done them the other way around. It is a wonder how Flinders and his men made such good time without the roads. Thanks for our 1st Suitman cache.
