You can say hunt again!! Haha.
I have been here once before - on the way to the snow. And searching high and low like a crazy person, with no luck. But it was raining, and we decided to make our escape.
Today I returned. Didn't have time to grab a cache on the way to the snow, so had to get one after instead. But stink thing was, I started to feel really really ill whilst up on the mountain. I ended up needing to leave after lunch as I was just feeling so not well.
But despite how I felt, my cache for the day had to be found! Decided to stop here and give it one more quick shot.
Searched all over... found nothing... till I found a nest of eggs!! Was pretty tempted to take one and cook it up And not long after found the cache too. Finally!!!!
I will attach photo of eggs later today or tomorrow.
COnsecutive caching day # 335

Yes yes yes we found it.
Actually I found it.
We had all spent the weekend together at Terrace Downs for Mr KN's birthday. Plans had been made to find some caches along the gorge but the wind had blown so much during the weekend that we had stayed in side most of the time playing board games.
Now we are heading home and the wind has gone. As we were driving past I thought why not stop and have another look. Mr KN has been having better luck than me recently so I gave him the GPSr and found it myself.
Good to find another of your caches, it has been a while.
Thanks for the caches Team chelmo.

We are staying at the Mount Hutt Lodge this week, and stopped by here for a Mount Hutt Hunt. And a bit of a Hunt it turned out to be. We eventually spotted the cache when we widened our search to a spot we had not been sure if we were allowed to be. Nice spot for a cache here, and more impressive later in the week when the mountain emerged from the cloud. TFTC.
Found it together with Team Autoværn on our New Zealand tour back in 2013.

A quick find on another superb Canterbury geoday. Appreciate finding this one on my 5 day run to close the gap on 5000 finds. What a cool spot for a cache.
Thanks for placing this cache!

When we got out of the car we realised where the hid would be. We had a second thought but then continued on. After searching for too long we turned up the hid. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC

Reading the description the fairy half was hoping for a coffee after the night in Methven. But alas no luck for a coffee, but +1 for the cache find. Thanks for the cache. Did with Mycro Man on our NZ MEGA 2012 South Island Trip
Found this one after hunting around those damn flaxes. Oh, how I hate flaxes... but the garden and dam area is lovely, and the airstrip even more inviting. But after all these years I've never seen a plane on the strip, let alone been seen on "short finals" as I've driven past... I'd love to fly into this strip oneday!
NZ12. There are plenty of nice spots along here, a good quick stop and off again. Thanks.

Thought we'd make this our lunch spot, got a lot of odd looks in a very busy area so not sure if we were ment to be in the shelter! Quick find. TFTC #322
Pleasant lunch spot stop. The grand entrance to MOUNT HUTT STATION noted. Usually not happy to do flax caches but this one passed the test.
Even in the rain and under flax this was not too hard to find. Can be more or less seen without having to get into the flax thank goodness.

Looked at this one months ago and as soon as I looked at GZ, left. I don't do flax. However, today was a dry day (so little chance of getting soaked in the search) and buoyed by an first to find at Rakaia Heights, thought - why not? Armed with a suitable prodder, the cache was located in a very short time. A very nice spot here - so gets a favourite.
The word "Hunt" was well needed in this cache. We went (crawled) past it a couple of times before actually finding it. Picked up GC. TFTC
After doing a couple of laps (as a tourist was busy munching an apple, taking in the fresh air and views, in the spot I'd probably have parked in), we perhaps parked in a better position...and I went straight to the cache. No problem with the GPSr. Perfect to within one metre. Cache can be seen from that distance. Mr Bairdy was disappointed to see no fish in the water. There used to be a huge tank of salmon here (9 years ago, when I lived close by)...but the layout has changed so much, and it seems to have gone. TFTC SL -2 cars, -1 magnet, +1 bakugan, +1 pokemon card, +1 dog, +1 lanyard.
Found on second visit - looked for this one two years ago without success. Still had to hunt around, but found it in the end, and the coordinates were about right too.
In the area,so stopped by here.A quick and easy find. What a nice place for a picnic, and loved the Deer.TFTC
Great place to stop, with magnificent views TFTC.

Out with Holden_Chick. Had seen the site the previous day arriving in the area on holiday and thought be a good place for a cache. Quick hunt around the coord's couldnt see it, was about to give up, when i took a better look at ground level, cahce in hand, log filled and cahce replaced. TFTC
Find #906. Another mid-morning cache find as we continued along SH77 to Lake Tekapo from Christchurch. After a hot walk on the Rakaia Gorge track, it was alot easier to be doing drive-by's again.
A quick find after we scrambled across the rocks to get on to the grass. Cache was right out in the open. Thanks! SL TFTC.

Clever location for cache - needed to search, away from public view and yet not too difficult to find.
Found it today without the snow from a few months ago when it was covered and nowhere to be seen.
Found by youngest, missed this last time we looked in 2007! Nice to get a smiley face this time . TFTC, TNLN.
I normaly give this type of hide about two minutes and this time that was enough.
Cheers and thanks,

after extensive search frustration and snowfight cooled us down . till next time
TFTC. Pleased to finally have a reason to stop. I was always in too much of a hurry to get up the mountain or too tired after a day on the slopes to stop here.
Wow the snow around here was deep, but we did manage to negotiate a way in with the car. Found after a challenging dig through lots of snow, which did take some time. The little lake here is covered in ice / snow. TFTC
Logging my stay in New Zealand while stuck in the airport in Christchurch due to heavy snow and closed runways. I enjoyed my visit here and the caching was great.
Easy find on way back for Sunday buffet lunch at Terrace Downs.
Swapped in dump truck toy for stuffed frog soft toy. Reading 4m accuracy
at GZ. Found cache within 2m of this point.

Did not crack this Looked where the gps pointed but reading previous logs and the number of flax plants gave it away.
A damp and drizzly morning made the hide an unpeasant place. Grabbed the Hulk TB. TFTC
Much fossicking in the flaxes but eventually found. Left "Todd the Hulk" TB. SL. TFTC
Nice well kept area, found very quickly as GPS was behaving very well so far on this excursion. TFTC
The GPS kept bringing us back to the exact same spot and we searched it really thoroughly, despite the wet vegetation, but no joy. Spent a long time here looking.
#1529 (5/18 CHC to Greymouth). A couple of motor cyclists were at the rest area when we arrived. One asked if we were geocaching (should have asked whether they were cachers). Not our favourite type of hide. We don't give these searches very long, but I managed to find it shortly before we were planning to give up. Left a tape of John Pertwee reaading a Dr Who story (we came upon it when getting ready to shift house, and listenened to it driving round Chch in our last few days before heading North).
Wasn't too thrilled when I saw GZ, I hate this hide. Thank goodness it was another quick find for StreetWalkerNZ.
TFTC.

Saw plants - don't do them - didn't bother. Life is too short to search such mongrels. Sorry - I would use 30 secs. Spray and walk away. come back later.
(516) Having the Mini Brogan with me helped getting the cache with this one.. TFTC, SL
We searched and searched on hands and knees for this one and couldn't find!
A great spot and an interesting substitute for not finding Part 2 of GC169ZH8. Thank you
Well, dunno what the problem was with all the DNFs - pretty easy drive by find in our opinion. TFTC
Wow. There is quite a few dnfs for this cache. Heres one more smiley for the list. tftc
