Out and about with my main crew Mini Munchkin and Jelly the Wonderdog..... We took a respectful look at the Bora Ring and then headed for GZ. A quick find, signed the log and then replaced as found. Thanks for bringing me to an interesting place I never knew existed.

when I made up my GSAK database of archived geocaches that need me to visit, this was one of the first I added. It was one of the first archived geocaches that I noticed when I began hunting them a bit more enthusiastically. As such I have been waiting to get out this way and today Net88 and I were not far away and made the detour to grab it.
I enjoyed the drive out here and recalled the road from another geocache hunt from a long time ago. We pulled up pretty close and it was evident there is only local and very minimal traffic along here. we headed for the historic area and began reading the information boards here.
Then it was onto the geocache. For some reason the first place we looked was not a) where the GPSr indicated or b) anything that matched the hint. I don't know what we were thinking. Then we moved the the described area and I made a quick find. A decent sized geocache and all in healthy condition inside after some 6 months without a visit. How sad that it was archived.
Thank-you to Pprime for sniffing this archived effort out and showing it is still in place. TFTC findalot, this one lives on

Captain Terror and I were out for a few hours of caching today when we found ourselves in the vicinity of this cache. It was on Captain Terror's list and I suspect that one of the reasons is thanks to a good friend and fellow archive lover Mr Prime finding the cache after almost 3 years.
Today I parked us across the road and we took our chance crossing the extremely busy road, I could have had a nap on the middle of it and not be worried about getting ran over We started hunting about, then decided to look where the GPSr was pointing and the hint. Oh... not here at all, how about we head over TO gz and start searching there?
The Captain found the cache quickly once in the right spot, we signed our names in the logbook and replaced the cache as found. It is in quite good condition considering how long it has been archived for. Thanks for the cache findalot.

Given the intriguing description, I knew I wanted to see this one. Found the cache in the first place we looked - wow, this archived cache is in better condition than most active ones It also has more swag than nearly all caches I've seen so far! Signed log book and then learnt about the history of the area, which I thought was very interesting.... dragged the kids out of the car to have a look, as you don't see this type of thing too often, and it's always hard to know how long these things will last, so great to see it.
TFTC findalot - I know it's archived, but still a great cache and a great historic place.

I had heard that "Cache Detective Pprime" had recently found this archived effort. I was on a big loop out to the west so I decided to grab this one whilst in the area.
I pulled up at GZ and made a relatively quick find. The cache is indeed in fine condition. I signed the log and re-hid the beast as found. I then took some time to read up about the area. Oh - well I know what a "kippa" is now. Every day is a school day!
A fascinating area - thanks for sharing it, findalot. And a special huzzah to Herr Prime and his "archived cache sniffing" skills. TFTC findalot

I love finding archived caches.
Arrived to make a quick find.
This area is the biggest one of its type that I have ever seen and I have seen a few of them.
Enjoyed reading about the place.

Two friends were chatting about some archived caches, and this one got a mention. I realised it wasn't too far from my place, so I figured I'd have a look at it today. I took a very pleasant drive over the hill and parked within a few metres of GZ. It was an easy find exactly where I expected it to be, well covered and in excellent condition. TFTC, findalot, and for showing me such an interesting area.
We saw the logs from January and decided to keep this cache on our list. Passed by today and sure enough, there it was. And in perfect condition. An interesting area well worth the visit and it would be great to see this one activated again. Thanks for the intro to the area findalot
Both PPrime and I had heard a rumor that there was a cache out here that had been archived but the cache might still be here so PPrime and I headed out here on our return from a day on Mt Glorious.
Sure enough it is still there. and in excellent condition, log book dry and plenty of swaps and an interesting place. Thanks for the cache and the learning experience.
We got to log an archived cache, something different

A new cache type? My first archived cache find
Cache is in excellent healthy condition, precisely where any cacher who has been around a week or more would find it.
Found with Brother Colin after a lengthy wander in the Mt. Glorious mountains.
Hiya Findalot. Thanks for your original efforts, and feel free to simply re-enable this one as it's all good.

I found this accidentally, which was an interesting surprise. I'd only heard about geocaching before then, but hadn't really entertained the thought. The idea is a bit of a thrill!
Cache was in good order, with lotsa interesting pieces. Took Gorilla and left badge.
Please respect the site while you are in the area.

Nice spot! Can just hear those magical instruments playing as I entered the site. Thanks for the cache, Findalot!
Found at 0706 . Nice araa and it was interesting to read about the past. Cache OK.
I have lived in the area for 13 years and have never been to this spot before. TFTC Took the dividers and left a golf ball.
A car with darkened windows pulled up, right there, with the cache and logbook wide open. Unsure if friend or 'foe' but with luck the driver's no more the wiser about GZ. Interesting bit of Australia though.
Swapped a bottle opener for some marbles, not quite fitting the spot's significance. SL. Thanks for the pointer here.

I lost my PDA out caching today If you're lucky enough to find it while searching for the cache, I'd love to have it back!

Was too focused on my goal (400 before Xmas day) to do the walk 700 metres? I could get another cache in the time it takes to walk that. Did read the sign though. Very interesting and was nearly tempted to do the walk but stuck to my guns. TFTH
Found @ 5:11pm
Thanks findalot, this one was very intersting. We found the cache straight away but went for the walk before pulling it from it's hiding spot and signing the log. I was reading a little while ago that there used to be one of these where the Keperra golf course is now. I'm this one has been preserved. Found with FSOSK.

Thanks for the cache. It is always a pleasure to get outdoors and visit somewhere new to you. TNLN
A very interesting piece of history to be found here. Thx findalot for bringing us here. This is what makes Caching such a great passtime, finding these little gems in the backbocks
Wow, another incredible spot we didn't know about. The cache was quite exposed so dug it in a bit more.
We walked to this cache from the place we are staying at. Certainly well worth visiting very interesting bit of history.
I could see the cache as I pulled up. Hid it a bit better after I finished writing the log.
Nice to be brought to somewhere with so much history.

Our twelfth find today. Found in company with Xixau and Shenzi and we set a new daily record of 36 cache finds.
Nice easy one once we read the cache notes more closely, almost thought we had to walk 700m until we realised the GPS was telling us the cache was only 2m away!!

Hi findalot, another of your caches was revealed today. Nice to see that you have taken the area into consideration when you hid the cache.
I would mark this cache as something larger than a small too.
Took nothing, left ball.
Thanks findalot. A well done cache that had me looking around for a while before turning around and seeing what I had missed.

Number 999- Thanks Findalot for the great cache and lesson. Its why caching is so great because so many more people find out about these types of places. I really enjoyed this cache. Cheers The Nanks.

In reference to The Mini Mob, I have also met a guy out here wandering around, looking like another cacher.
When we got talking to him he turned out to be a Uni student researching Australian history. We had an interesting chat.

This has to be one of our strangest finds. Arrived at the location to find another vehicle parked here and 2 guys walking around the site. Muggles or fellow cachers? Well let's wait and see we thought.
Read the sign while they wandered around separately not doing anything in particular. We spotted the cache, as it was a bit uncovered & wondered how we were going to do this unnoticed. Then one of them did something very suspiciously like taking a sneak peak at a GPSr, but calling him over found he was rolling a cigarette!
Next tactic...try to sit by the cache, & log it in my lap..it's a "small" after all. Oh my . Scrap that plan...this small cache is HUGE!
These two are not going away! They're not doing much though and had no real interest in us either!? Finally..their backs turned & walking away, we snatched up the cache, popped the back of the Mini, did the swaps and log and pretended we were taking a drinks break . Finally they get in their car and drive off. Quick run across the road before they do a U-turn, rehid cache with more camo this time, and back in the car.
No other log today for this cache so I guess they were muggles after all! Bizarre.
Nice to see this site preserved. It doesn't seem to appear on any map. Cache was well stocked & in good nick. In: fake scorpion and yellow bendy man. Out: green highligher and wind-up dinosaur. Thanks for showing us an important piece of Australian history and culture.

Found with geonephew Bedmaker. Easy find and interesting site. Reminded me of the many similar sites in the UK. All you need is a few standing stones and you could dance around naked at the solstice. Might be a bit cool in June though.
Some of you might think that disrespectful, but it's also interesting that ancient peoples on different sides of the globe had the same building plans.

Nice easy found in the second spot we looked. We didn't go for the grand tour today & we had seen one of these features before.
It was great to have an excuse to ride out this way today. Interesting spot. I had to wait a couple of minutes after finding the cache to open it though as a horse riding muggle and his dog went past
Wights Moutain Road is one of those weird locations which present a strange optical illusion that you are going downhill when you are actually going uphill. If you ride the push bike out this way you will know what I mean
The elevation trace on the GPS confirmed it.
Took a stapler and left a highlighter pen and griraffe.
