What a top spot for a cache! This was supposed to be cache 2 of 6 planned for the day, but we stayed here so long there we ran out of time to get any more caches today! We parked and walked into to the beach – there was a bit of rubbish on the sand, probably came down in the river with the recent deluges! Took a while to find the cache, the sand had completely covered it. When we opened it, there was a thin layer of water in the bottom. Most of the swag was ruined, but the logbook was reasonably dry, as it was in a snaplock bag. I dried the log book out, and signed it, then replaced it in its bag. I also took the ruined swag out and put in some fresh stuff. I removed the sand from the lid’s seal, and closed it up again. Hopefully the water stays out! After this, we went for a paddle and build some sandcastles. The only people we saw the whole time we were here came past in 2 four wheel drives. Such a nice, peaceful, easily accessible spot. Nice one, Azucar!

Great spot. Watched fellows pulling fish.
Bogans pulling wheel stands and Muggles pulling children.
Shame a dead python near the cache someone has chopped it on the head.
Nothing like a bit of mindless violence in a National Park!

We decided to go for a trot while caching in the area - we had been camping at the nearby Black Rocks. Found GZ relatively easily after a bit of a walk- and I came up with the cache. It was a little damp inside and had sand in it too. I cleaned it out properly and cleaned the seals. TFTC Azucar - a great area Smile

Like previous Finder I did't know about Coffee Rock, But I didn't have footprints to follow, I was more worried about muggles wondering what the footprints led to, after doing a circle a couple of times (with GPS in hand) trying to locate GZ, Signed log 5pm, Great Beach area ! TFTC-Azucar

Caching is a good learning experience. Didn't know about coffee rock. Found just after Temingi. Could still see their foot prints in the sand. Lead us right to the cache. Thank you Smile

Coffee rock is really interesting. It's so soft you wonder why it hasn't all erroded away. Mrs Temingi searched for a big piece of pumice stone while I scaled the heights and grabbed the cache. TNLN TFTC

Nice walk on the beach and sand dunes. Make sure you look when the tide is out as almost got stuck! Probably suppose to keep of the dunes, but they are so amazing and white! Have fun emptying the sand from your shoes. Took Lucky Chinese coins, left Yo Samity Sam toy!

A great spot to stop on the trip south and stretch the legs. The geopup had to stay in the car though Sad

The swell was huge and the beach not there, but we still found the cache.

Cheers!

What a beautiful day for the beach. Although from all the big rains in the area the beach was pretty much nonexistant. Still saw amazing views and it was great to share it with Hoojar.

The temptation to do some geocaching while we were down camping at Evans Head over the Easter Long Weekend was too much... So off we went to hunt down the local caches.

Pretty amazing that we had been camping at Evans Head for the last 5 years and had never even once come close to finding this spot before.

The geokids had a blast running up and down the large sand hills on the way to this cache.

The cache was a nice easy find and still in very good condition.

Dropped off a geocoin "blazing sun"

Thanks for the hunt

We have passed through Broadwater many times before but never travelled east of the highway. Thank you for showing us this lovely part of Australia.
The walk over the sand dunes was tough in the strong wind - our footprints were almost immediately blown away. Lovely walk along the beach at low tide. The cache was an east find with spot on coordinates.

Another interesting spot with various types of volcanic rock in the dune. Took a bit to navigate at first but once on the trail all was well. Thanks azucar.

08-Sep-07
Best to do this one at low tide as you could get stuck. High tide nearly caught us. Need to watch out for bluebottles at this time of year.

08-Aug-07
Decided to use the obvious track to the beach and was glad I did. Apart from not trampling the nice bush, it was easier, and I saw both Brown Quail and a Brahminy Kite on the way! Once at gz the cache was an easy find. TNLN thanks to azucar again for another good cache.

These dunes are huge! And the sand so soft!

We trudged our way up and down and on to the beach - oh and what a beach!

Finding the spot to leave the beach was easy & finding the cache was very straightforward.

The kids had a bit of a splash before we returned to the car. TFTC.

Was a bit worried that the shifting sands had swallowed the cache, but soon found the coffee-bean. TNLN. Cheers!

1830. A not quite so easy find after a plod through the loose sand. with an easterly blowing all day the loose sand was piling up around the edge of the drift, but not quite enough to totally hide the coffee rock.
Was an interesting collection of animal tracks in the sand, including a number of different sized kangaroos, possably a bandicoot (or similar), a lizard or two and a snake.

Congratulations If on the first to find. For the benefit of future visitors, the best way to tackle this one is to head straight down to the beach and then let the GPS lead you the rest of the way. Checked out the log book and I think the muggle was my youngest daughter having a scribble before I put the notebook in the cache. Cheers...

This one took longer than expected Big Grin
With only four ways into GZ I tried all of them. Having got to the right spot, I had to dig for the hidden treasure Razz
Windblown sand covers everything Big Grin
It would appear that a local muggle found this cache before me [:o] Hiya M.Y. Big Grin
