Sadly I think this one has gone. Whole group of us searched for the cache and couldn’t find it. A great location - but there is now another one on the other side of the rock.

Heading home after camping the night at Baladjie Rock having a go at the odd smiley here and there.

We there might be chance that this might still be here, but alas we couldn't find it.

ZED! I couldn't find your cache, this was my 1st DNF for the day. I did have 4 finds today so all is not lost.

Last Call!
This Geocache will be permanently archived in July.
Thank You to all who have enjoyed my tour of the Wheatbelt.

Was out in the goldfields with two other cars from Albany on fun 4WD fortnight. This was part of a big circle including part of the Holland Track, Baladjie Rock, the Helena and Aurora Ranges, the Gus Luck prospectors' track, Lake Ballard, Queen Victoria Springs, Zanthus and Peak Charles. Many of these interesting places had caches and this was one of them.

I've been to quite a few of these granite outcrops in the wheatbelt over the years but this is definitely one of my favourites. After grabbing the cache (parking nearby as mentioned in other logs) we continued up the rock enjoying the great views over the lake. Loved it so much we came up again at sunset and then in the early morning for a spectacular sunrise. Plenty of places to camp and nice safe access up the rock if you go up near the cache or on the eastern side.

Loved it. Thanks ZED! for showing us yet another great spot

Third (and final) day of my loop through the Eastern wheatbelt. Can't do any more for a while 'cos the cricket starts on Saturday and that's me stuck in front of the telly for the next month. Found this one today at 18:10. This site could do with a waypoint for convenient parking. I ended up climbing all the way over the top of this bloody big rock, to find the GZ was much lover down and further around, Collected the Scout Geocoin and will send it on its way. TNLNSL TFTC

12-Feb-15
HINT - Drive around track to right, between Rock and Lake, until GPSr shows GZ due south, then park. This will save unnecessary climbing

After spending some time at Mt Singleton and several granite rocks we were on our way to Helena-Aurora. Stopped off here and looked around. Very windy and warm but would be great on a cooler day. TNLN TFTH Zed! cheers melvilla

A stop for lunch and a quick find on a nice and warm but very windy day...

Nice find!

Although I've previously found it, I dropped off a geocoin I collected from another rock far away. Its goal is the central coast NSW, so I've taken it in the opposite direction. But I'm sure it will enjoy its journey

It is always good to find a nice place to stop and then discover it has a cache as well. We decided to take the direct approach and went straight up the rock...not such a good idea as there are better ways to get to the top than up the steepest bit. However the view from the top is well worth the climb. The decent was easier near the cache and we soon had the log book in hand. We saw a couple of very small gnamma holes near the base of the rock as well as the fast moving lizards.

What a fantastic spot. Our first campsite after a long drive from home on day 1 of our motor bike, 4 wheel drive trip through the area, and first cache of the trip. We wandered up the rock and admired the view then got down to business and soon had the cache in hand. Tried to further stretch our legs by walking around the rock but turned back when we could see the possibility of becoming lost. Flies were quite friendly but all left by sundown and the night was perfect. Thanks ZED. TNLN

Still bimbling around out in the Wheatbelt with The Machman.

Camped here overnight but didn't arrive till after 7pm so only time to set up the tents and have dinner with a few wines [:o)] before hitting
the sleeping bags. (no internet reception here)

So first thing this morning before packing up it was off to find this cache.

Enjoyed our visit here. Our last visit was over 3 years ago when we were muggles, great spot for a camp.

TFTC ZED!

Looking forward to meeting some other cachers at the July Event - WA goes BIG in 2013 - GC45X55

On a weekend Camping trip, heading East to the Goldfields with the Felix duo, hoping to fill in some gaps on the "The Well-Travelled and Aged Cacher Challenge". (GC3TR3M).

After camping at the site, it was an early start at first light (05.30) to go off in search of this one,
the GPS told me only 300 meters as the crow flies, but it ended up being a lot further as I am not a crow !!!

Found with no issues after a quick clamber.

Amazing sight as we approached. Drove around the edge of the salt lake to get closer to gz then the boys only had a 30 mt climb to locate the cache. The flies weren't so bad here so grabbed a quick bite before venturing onto the next cache.

What a great place to camp. We drove around the edge of the lake to gz then it was a short scrabble to retrieve the cache. Thanx ZED!

WanderingAus wandered by on day three of a four day cache placing run into the wheatbelt. I got to within 250 CroMs of the cache, then the track seemed to veer away and I was getting further away, so I decided to turn around and park where I was about 240 CroMs from GZ. I made my lunch and a cup of tea, fighting the flies all the time and disappointed that my three fly hats were all in the caravan at home, and about five fly nets were also at home in my bulk "swaps" supply.[:o)][B)]

After lunch I headed towards the cache, and came across an intersting dry stone pyramid. At that stage GZ seemed to be up the rock from there, so I headed up towards the top of the rock. The climb soon had me huffing and puffing on my one lung, and I swallowed at least two flies on the way up.[xx(] The closer I got to the top of the hill the more I started to think the cache wasn't near the top, but I was getting a terrific view of the surrounding countryside so I continued on up.[^]

I was almost 100 CroMs from GZ when I made a 90 degree turn and started going back down the rock, and fairly soon made a quick GAFF 1 find. From GZ I could see the track and realized I could have parked about 50 CroMs from GZ and walked less that a quarter of the way up the rock.Red Face

My find No 2052, LCC, TNLNSL, dropped Ryan's Take a Kid Geocaching GC No 2 (ref = TB31WZF) and my WanderingAus Happy New Year 2008 Gold GC in for a visit before grabbing them back again.

Another great overnight camp spot with the caravan. The track in had recently been graded so though smooth covered us with fine dust no matter what speed we travelled at. Once we arrived at the camp we were delighted with the spot, close to the rock with views to the salt lake. We had the place to ourselves and did the cache in the cool of the evening. Great view from up top and a nice rock to walk over. TNLN. Thanks nobodyZ

We walked to the top from the camping area side of the rock, early in the morning before it got too hot. Quite steep on that side ! A great view though and well worth the effort. Found a golf ball on top of the rock which we put in the cache with a lanyard and sharpie. Took nothing, signed log. TFTH

Wonderful wildflowers. Awesome rock. Cool caves. Thanks for leading us to this spot. We've attached a photo of the views from the cache site. Took Aussie keyring and dreamcatcher and left a different Aussie keyring and a USB optical mouse.

Found with fellow cachers SuttonD ,Bunyip and Smith6, there was so much excitement it was like a party on the rock as we all examined the contents of the cache. Left Darren th Firefighter TB to travel on his merry way. We had a beaut campsite just down the track, and gorgeous weather all weekend, Certainly a lovely way to see the countryside.
