I came down here for Middle Gorgeous Views a few weeks ago and couldn't understand how a spot this beautiful only had one cache. And just like Laughing Waters, where I'd had the same thought, project-GC told me there was an archived cache - in this case, this one. Today it didn't take too long to find, and despite the cracked lid that caused it to be archived, the log book was in excellent condition , and there was a TB to be freed too. Maybe with a new box I can get it back in action. Thanks lets go bush

I found this one yesterday but logged in maintenance instead, my comments are on the log.

Thanks to Lets go bush, this area I haunted when I was a kid, we used to ride our bikes up from Reservoir to go fishing we camped along the river many times, I caught my first trout just down from there. It hasn't that much, the water quality has though. That clue was a good one didn't need it though.

I was able to replace the bag containing the log but the liod of the container needs urgent replacement

Well hidden cache, climbed up and down the hill a few times! The container needs replacing so I put the whole thing in a plastic bag. Also, mind out for the 8 legged critter in the box!
I am taking a week off to go on a caching holiday. My plans for the second day was to find all the caches within Mt Dissapointment bushland. Though I had a late start after finding a D5T5 and thus didn't finish until after dark.
During the trip I saw quite a few wallibies, a couple of horses, a head on car crash (no one was hurt at least), I heard a few deer honking, and other than caches I found a hiking pole and a fellow cacher's personal log stamp.
After leaving the area I had to find some more caches on the way South in order to reach the 270 finds in a day milestone which I just managed!
After all that my car needs a good wash!
Thanks for all the caches!

My husband agreed to two hours geocaching with me this afternoon and I chose this cache from my "Cache with a friend" list.
While walking along the wide track under the power lines I was watching the GPS. My husband alerted me to some wildlife in the form of a metre long black-coloured snake. We let it slither into the bushes before we continued with more care.
Our journey from the track to the cache was very adventurous along animal trails and over and around rocks until I eventually located the cache. THEN my husband explained the clue to me.

Great location for cacheing but not good for my wife's wheelchair access . Fav from me.
Found today needs a new lid and new click lock bag no pen to sign either but otherwise all okay and lovely little makeshift home for a unfortunate man but seems he is doing okay
Took longer than what I thought it would.....prime real estate according to some of the locals!!! judging by the elaborate shack near the creek.
Once again another interesting place I've discovered via geocaching. As others have mentioned, there is a makeshift dwelling nearby to GZ and signs it is in use but I didn't see anyone.
There are easier routes down to the cache aside from heading straight down, I always follow the animal trails across the slope.
The cache lid is broken so a new container may be required and I removed some of the obvious crap people have left such as a straw? and some plastic spoons? Seriously?
Left some swaps, signed the log and headed off to the other cache nearby.

As mentioned in a previous post it appears that a local has turned this area of the park into a his own backyard with his car in the carpark. He kept wandering from a seat by the rapids where he has built a little bridge to a small shack built into the his.
Had to max out the ninja skills and stealth it down the hill which was difficult given how steep it was.
Lovely area and I would love to make it my backyard! TFTC.

Out for a mini caching run this morning in the South Morang area, anywhere in the north to avoid the rain that was bucketing down in the Vermont area.
Nice spot for a cache, quick find.
Thanks for placing this cache lets go bush
The lid on this cache is badly broken. A new one litre cache container is required. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Well this was a challenge but had we known there was another way to approach we may have found it. A very steep hill and thank goodness for our special geostick for extra assistance. We gave up only to see the easier route.
Will try another day.
Was grateful for the beautiful view.

Was grateful for the beautiful view.
Not great for the geodawg. Will come back later when we don't have him to worry about
I admire the previous visitor who took their 4 year old all the way to the cache, I wasn't that game!
Left the 4y.o. and the 6y.o. when it got too steep for them, turns out it was just above where the cache was, so I was filling in the log with rocks whistling past my ears!!
Word of warning too, it appears that a homeless man may be living in a rock cave close by - he wasn't happy when I stumbled across him as I climbed down the hill. So watch out, especially if there is an early model white Ford Falcon wagon in the carpark, may be his as it has a mattress in it and I saw no other signs of other people around.
Cache is in need of maintenance still, container is cracked and the zip lock bag is split.

Stopping by tonight with nobody around but finding lots of evidence of a camping area, the cache was a search in some usual spots . Found and signed, dropped TB
Yikes that sure was a test of endurance for the geokids and us. Clever hide took one mouse and left a bandaloom.
Made the mistake of bringing our maltese dog on this bush walk and our first geocaching hunt. Tried starting at the top car park but turned back as it was too steep a drop. Then tried from the lower car park after crossing the bridge, before realising we were on the wrong side of the river. Finally got within 60m of GZ from the lower car park on same side as it, but then it got too steep where the river bends around so we turned back. Will have to come back another time without the pooch!
On a roll with Funsize Manor finding caches on his first caching day. Had to scramble down to this one. A satisfying find. TFTC
First cache we didnt find..yet! It was getting dark to quick so well come back some other time
Parked at the bottom car park and decided to go to the top one instead, wussed out when I saw no clear path and lots of long grass. Made the trip down the over grown path but otherwise an easy walk. Just a short detour off the main track and soon stumbled (literally) on to the gz. The hint was no help to me but I had to rely on my caching instinct and soon had this cache in hand. As the last finder mentioned the cache could do with a fresh bag but the contents are all dry and good. TFTC lets go bush.
The cache container (lid) is smashed and broken, the plastic bag that it's been wrapped in is in pieces and the cache needs some TLC. Luckily the hide location is such that the cache and contents are safe and dry.
After a short walk from the top car park, the way down looked very steep and I didn't really want to have to climb back up. So I parked the car at the bottom park, walked past some fishermen and made my way toward the cache. Shoulder high saturated wet grass, falling into a knee deep wombat hole and fighting blackberrys and brambles all made me doubt that this was actually the best approach or not. After arriving at GZ I had to look around for a while before spotting the cache hide. Unfortunately the container and enclosing bag have seen better days and really need to be replaced, but the cache hide is such that the contents are secure and dry. TFTC and bringing me to this nice little place.
Found it on a nice gentle walk with a bit of a struggle to get to GZ .
Thanks for bringing me there.

Great trek to this one, though the trek back was even harder!!! Picked up TB (though only saw the one, birthday book, even though inventory says 2??) - TFTC
Great little expedition down to this one and a nice peaceful little place to stop and listen to the river. In fact, so nice that a poor chap called Alfie (I think), was bed down there having a snooze in the bush. He knew about the cache and spoke about him seeing people come down for it, Says he's been coming to that place for a year and a half. Felt sorry for him actually, seems a lonely old fella. Noticed there was a car in the car park with bedding in the back so figured it was his.
Had a nice long chat with him then said our farewells and moved on.

Been meaning to come and explore this place and today was the day to do it! Enjoyed my walk and finding the cache. A lovely spot. Left TB.
Thanks for a nice little cache. Surprised to see that this cache was hidden in 2006 but the cache owner had only found 10 caches. Thanks for a great cache. PIPPAESP
Slipped a few times getting down there. Probably not great to do in summer (fire risk). TFTC
Found this morning, was a nice spot for a stroll. easy find once at GZ, SL, tnln. tftc.
Wow, what an experience that was!!! I brought the family (wife and 3 kids) so there were lots of extra eyes to find it. But being rather inexperienced, we didnt have much luck to start with.
Not long after arriving down near the river, I found a really obvious place for it to be, but it wasnt there. But reacalling the clue I read I wasn't discouraged. But instead of looking around in that area I trusted my GPS (an app on my phone) and spent the next 15 mins or so following the compass around looking for it, watching the battery quickly die.
We got to the point where we'd had enough so started heading back, then as we got back to the previous "obvious place", my son Rhys noticed some rocks placed in a suspicious way. We went over to explore the area and FOUND IT!!!! Rhys and I shouted FOUND IT at the top of our voices to the rest of the family. Sure hope there was no one walking on the path above us.
Anyway, after a fairly steep walk (we parked in the top car park) and lots of looking around, it was an AWESOME feeling to have found it, especially after we'd given up and were heading back to the car.
Ran out of time (and battery power) to expore the other one, so will have to come back another day. Thanks for the cache, was lots of fun.

I was heading along the ridge trying to decide whether to go for this cache or Middle Gorgeous Views first. I spotted a trail heading off at an angle towards this cache but as I have been caught out before by "following the pointer", I kept on going. When I reached the point where I was at right-angles to the cache, I decided that going "over the edge" there might not be the best choice and the trail I saw before might be the better option. At that point I went on to Middle Gorgeous Views and resumed my search for this one on the way back.
I found my way back to the trail I first saw and started following it. Initially I made good progress but in the end I was picking my way slowly across the slope about half way down. Probably in the end, it was much easier than just taking the shortest way down. Once at GZ, I started looking around and quickly saw an ominous sign...a piece of paper sitting on top of a rock that was obviously for hiding a cache and a zip-lock bag on the ground nearby.
Fearing the cache had been muggled, I went and investigated. This is where it got really strange. The piece of paper was the standard explanatory note for a cache. Under the rock it was sitting on was a pencil and the cache itself. Everything else in the cache seemed to be intact. It seems that the cache had been investigated by a muggle and then replaced...sort of. I signed the log, put everything back where it should be and re-hid the cache with a little extra cover.
At this point I would normally say thanks to Lets Go Bush for the cache but as they have "long gone bush" from geocaching, it seems a bit pointless.
As a footnote, when writing this log I realised that there is a Trackable listed as being in the cache. I didn't look for it specifically so I can't say if it was there or not but I suspect the latter.

Bit ofa rock climb! I had a bit of a tumble. Nothing major just a little funny!
SanguineDragonflye and I set out to tackle a whole bunch of caches in the area today, and this was find #1 out of 15.
Not a bad start to our day - as soon as Sanguine led me to the GZ I had no trouble spotting the cache. A good one to get the spirits going! TFTC

There was so much flood rubble around it was hard to figure out whats natural and whats not so natural. Climb was a little slippery in parts, was lucky enough to sit and watch an echidna for twenty minutes as he stuffed himself with ants. Got myself stung by a rather nasty ground-dwelling Hymenopteran who decided to crawl uninvited into my jeans, and not long after I gave up the search. Stunning area, I will be back on tuesday for another go at this one.
Frigg'in... Flip'in... this 'walk' was not a walk but a torturous scramble through long snakey grass, scrub, debris and slippery, slidey slopes etc. Easy find when I got there but was then continuing on to the next cache Middle Gorgeous Views - I was NOT looking forward to the return trip! I would rate the terrain as a 4/5.
Note: Wear long pants and long sleeves with solid walking shoes or you'll get cut to pieces.

Found this as the sun was setting. Nice area. Paco Aliandro came with me for the walk even tho he had found this one before. tftc
Sometimes the GPS just takes you to the best place possible. Today was not one of them but what we saw on the way was enough to provide us with memories forever.
Waiting along the path was the biggest bravest blue tongue lizard the bananas have ever seen and we have seen a lot. Basking in the beautiful sunshine on the trip there was a lizard enjoying the refreshing spring sun and nothing was going to make him move.
Several minutes later and many photos of both distant and closeups were enough to satisfy the joy of this sport. Thanks to lets go bush for many times the bananas have past through this valley but yet this is only the first time it has been explored.

Find # 2125
On our normal weekend caching run, SedgwickDave and I were first heading towards Yarra Glen, then doing a bit of a loop via Christmas Hills, Kangaroo Ground, Hurstbridge, Yan Yean, Mernda, Plenty and South Morang. It was a cool morning, but most of the afternoon was beautiful and sunny.
Once we clambered our way down to GZ, we were looking around to see if we could spot where we would have hidden a cache. Eventually I spotted something not quite natural and there it was. Nice Hide.
Thanks to lets go bush for the cache, TNLN.

On another epic cache run today with caching buddy ahomburg. We had run this route before which is Yarra Glen then west towards South Morang and everywhere else in between. A good numbers today with 30 found in total and a few DNFs. An awesome day with a cool start and the forecast rain didn't eventuate so it was a rather nice and sunny at times.[^]
Found this one on the walk back up to the car and another careful approach to GZ where the coordinates where pretty spot on and the obvious was not notice initially. A peaceful GZ and thanks for bringing me here. TFTC lets go bush. Nice size container and swaps too. Took nothing, left blue gem stone.

Another daring trip down to GZ but worthwhile. Despite the warning in the hint, I looked in a few wrong spots that seemed obvious but I prevailed. tftc.

The sun's shining, birds are singing, and I've dropped short-stuff off for the day... I feel like another walk by the Plenty River.
Last time I came through the Gorge, I decided where to park, so that part was easy. Then I only had to decide which of the two caches to tackle first.
Probably not the best choice of approaches to GZ, but it got me there without mishap. Checking first one level, then another, I finally bagged what I was looking for. Then came the fun of getting back up to the path to the other hide.

Found last Saturday with CherryRainbow. Had a little trouble getting down there, but we got there in the end. TFTC.
Not sure if I went into this the wrong way, or if it's just a tough terrain cache. It didn't help that I wasn't feeling the best, but I also felt a bit vulnerable as I was caching solo today and didn't want to turn an ankle or anything!! The gps was sending me in places I didn't really want to go ie up steep and rocky slopes. But as often happens - the place where I couldn't find it at first, so moved away from to search elsewhere, was actually very close to where I eventually found it. Glad I persisted and made the find even though I wasn't feeling good about it.
Tried to get to this before but chose the wrong way to get in. Once i figured where the path was it became a lot safer! Good fun going down the hill, hard work coming back up. Damp area but the cache is bone dry. TFTC.
Nicely hidden, I enjoyed bashing my way down the hill towards ground zero. The slope was not very accomodating for searching, so I poked around up above while Trail looked down below. He made the find, and I made it down the slope in one piece a few minutes later.
This was a short, wet night-time run for me tonight which was suddenly cut short. I was able to take Danozz out and pick up 13 caches with him before handing him over to Quasar3671 for more caching up north at about 9 pm. This is one of the caches Danozz and I picked up before I left for home. Thanks
17th find of the day, and 3103rd total find at 5:11:00 PM.
Found on a caching foray into an area that none of us have been to before.
Yep, exploring. After some debate, and to-ing and fro-ing between car parks we eventually decided that an approach from the upper car park was the best way to attempt this one.
A nice stroll down to GZ, then a short scramble soon had the cache in hand. We've done a fair bit of walking already today. I guess all this unaccustomed exercise is going to have some health benefits even if the legs are a bit sore later.
Can't see the reason for the "Needs Maintenance" attribute. (An "Owner Maintenance" Log should take care of that!!)

Out caching with teams Ian & Penny and Liz & Bruce. A sharp left hand turn off the main track had us at what looked like a geotrail but it didn't lead to the GZ. After a bit of a rock scramble P-P had the cache sighted and log signed.

This was one of the caches targetted by our group (Ian and Penny, Phetlern and oursleves) during a very entertaining day of caching. With thanks to lets go bush for placing the cache.
Found this one on a caching run out to Woodlands Power trail to join C@H and KellyHaunts for lunch and moral support on their smashing endeavour.. Thanks Lets Go Bush for the hide, I parked at the top of the hill and loaded up the GEO MTB for the ride down here for these two trads, before returning to car to make another find there.. Thansk for the hide..
What a trek! Totally worth it though. Our group had trouble as the gps on the iPhone is bad. Left half a game of craps in there
A great little cache, though the walk down from the top path can be pretty deadly on a wet day like this! Watch your footing people Well hidden in a dry spot, should give this cache some longevity. Will move on tweety quickly TFTC!
Didn't look at any maps so took the loooong way following the river bank from the lower car park. Didn't notice the nice walking track under the power lines until returning. We'll come back this way just for a walk.
Well we of course took the hard way in to this one! But we made it and then spent ages hunting, before finally making the find! Nice location (mental note, go in by another route next time; we parked down near the old toilet block next to the bridge and followed the river up....not a great idea!) but the geobeast enjoyed the run. Took the Aussie bears and left a Squeezy pig and a Squeezy liver! TFTC

Josh found this one, walked there from home with mrs and " the other boy" complaining along the way. (not the out doorsy type) Anyway great spot river flowing heaps and the clue made sense after finding the cache. Left a foreign coin took nothing.
Treacherous cache this almost lost a cacher on the slippery rocks. Probably better to do in the day and dry conditions. Tftc tnln
A true test of my coordination in the pre-dawn light on a very slippery slope. GeoDad loved the adventure and found it before me while I still grappled with my rocks. Fantastic little spot, would be great for a picnic during summer.

I believe I was standing right on top of it according to GPS. When looked from a different angle I could see that it would be the perfect spot but it was empty. The area looked as if there had been floods and I wonder if it may have been washed away?
