This evening we spent a very pleasant time with RideTheGeoWalrus sharing caching experiences. During our visit he generously took us to look for some caches in the area. This was one of them. Whilst in the area looking for another cache (which we had forgotten that we had already found sometime ago), we came across this archived cache. We understand that at the time of placement it was a novelty - a mint tine. Since then mint tins have become very widely used, some claiming that they are well overused. Despite the cache being archived, we did find it and hence this log, Thanks SA ParrotHead for the cache and RideTheGeoWalrus for taking us on a geocaching tour of the area.

Found while hunting around for another cache in this park. The other CO had mentioned in passing that there was an archived cache still in place within this park so I decided to double up and go for both. Cache and log are both in surprisingly good conditon. TFTC SA Parrothead!

Having been the last to leave the Pub Lunch - One Last Hurrah, Doctor Owl, Laighside Legends and darksidelemm and I headed out to locus cache a few times.
Doctor Owl had to leave first, then LL then darksidelemm so after losing their company, I just cached my way home alone Wink
By the time I arrived home at 18.45 I had found 19 caches Smile and only had 1 DNF Sad

Logging Wandering Heroes caches and Wingaap's name came up. Then I remembered the links to Wingaap on one of my cache's page.
Saw that this cache may still be here and tonight, I ended the night by finding a cache in a spot where I have a cache Wink

Found and signed yesterday and then found it had been archived.
Still in reasonable condition, placed back upside down to keep dry.

27-Jun-12
Well, If I had only known yesterday what I know today Wink

I could have replaced the lidless Eclipse mint tin with a pristine container. Will check next time I am in this area....

04-Sep-11
Wingaap is still there. I was walking past this spot yesterday and it is still just waiting to be found. The log is dry, the lid of the container has broken, but still stays on due to magnetism. Why not revive it?? Or call it something different. A new name would do wonders, maybe even spice up the container. Squizzie

I put this cache out over 4 years ago at that time a mint container was a novel cache container and this was a bit of fun. I had a great time meeting Wingaap and a fine bunch of Queensland cachers.
Times change and there are lots of these containers to find out there now so Iam going to close this one down

Yawn.
Actually I did go and check your recent logs and saw a number of traditional logs entered exactly the same way as the one on this page had been entered.
Since I started caching in April 2004 this is the first time I have seen a cache entry on my cache hides that has absolutely nothing as an entry not even TFTC.
Why you even bothered to log is a mystery to me and the group I went out with last night said they would just have deleted your entry when it popped up.
It might be nice to get the numbers up on the board but I tend to wait until I can actually put a comment with my log before logging an entry.
Not bothering to enter a log seems to be altogether a much too common practice with new cachers.

As the site has been down overnight, I was coming back on today to log this cache properly, as I always try to. Imagine my suprise when there was a very derogatory comment on it - something we have never come across in the short time we have been caching. As an extremely experienced cacher yourself, I thought you might've actually checked a person's log history before making comments such as these. Our group usually writes detailed and normally quite positive logs and always takes photos to post of travellers fulfilling their goals. As this cache was found quite late at night, for us, and we have a busy young family, today is the first opportunity I have had to log this cache in more detail. Rather than making fun of people's posts it might first pay to think about why it might not have been logged and give them the benefit of the doubt. I have edited the post, not because of your posting but because that is what I always try to do and this is the reason why I came onto the site at this point in time. You claim on your bio page that caching is all about the people you meet along the way, then perhaps you might have considered that there would be a reason as to why we had not yet completed the log for your cache! We weren't out to offend just simply time poor and going to get back to it as soon as the site was operational again

14-Dec-10
I have seen some pretty lazy logs in my time but that last one takes the cake.
I wonder if they even bothered to look for the cache.
It will be interesting to see the physical log given how pathetic this entry is.

14-Dec-10
This cache was found on a run after some late night shopping and retrieved and returned after the log was signed. The cache needs some new writing equipment, but I didn't have anything on me that fit inside - perhaps the next person to find would be so kind. TFTC but no thanks for the unkind comments about the original unedited posting.

I was in town for a few days for a Workshop and in need for an early morning run. Looked through the available caches and saw this familiar name pop up - somewhat surprising given the distance to home. So, both knowing the gentlemen and having partaken regularly in the aforementioned coffees I thought this cache was an admirable target for a good long run. Headed off early and was soon crossing the river and heading into the northern suburbs. Couldn't resist stopping by a few other caches on the way - so after Lois and Scotty (only famous people caches around here) and a 40 min jog I was nearing GZ. Fortunately, early on a Saturday morning, there weren't too many people around and I made a quick find of the expected container. Its starting to look a little worse for wear and the pencil could do with sharpening. Thanks for the encouragement to get out and about and see some of the sights around here - particularly the many beautiful stone houses spread throughout the area.

2859.

Found this cache with FarmerFrentzen, The Rats and Steeba on our Adelaide invasion trip. Nearly 12 months ago to the week we were on our Brisbane invasion trip and we found a lot of Wingaap's caches so knowing what we were looking for we made a quick find... At least it wasn't another Map Monkeys Lament! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=b423d4f0-a2de-4158-93b0-d6ed5174665d

I spent my first serious caching day at the Gap after I had just started caching, finding 20 or so Wingaap caches. He's still my most frequent hider. Not all of them are of this type, but quite a few are. Wingaapville is certainly the place to go if you want to experience all sorts of interesting hides and camoes. 55th of 55 finds today in the company of the penguins. TFTC

Found @ 0410! What crazy person goes caching at this hour? One who dropped off F & her work friends at the Airport for a girls w/e in Melbourne (via Tiger). Found quickly (TomTom only), container lid no longer hinged and no wonder given the traffic it sees but still clips on fine. Yet to cache in QLD, someday... Thanks SA_ParrotHead. As a Brisbanite, I have done many of WIngaaps caches and shared a few stories with him at events. THis is certainly one of his early style caches and he tends to add a touch of character to them now. I recommend anybody who finds themselves in Brisbane, work their way through "The Gap" and hunt some of Bruce's caches. You will be surprised at what your find... He is a very clever and creative member of our community... You will note that on GC Aust site that he has most of the caches listed in the recommended section. That says it all...

THis one was a nice easy find but I was a little unsure with the offices and motorbike shop across the roads from the park....

Cheers SA Parrothead.

interesting this container was once an exotic container. We were initially looking for some sort of natural and unusual formation or container, but it's good and reassuring it is this nowadays commonly used container that was once a rebel.

Found it where I thought it was going to be last visit, but missed itRed Face Glad too, to finally have it off the list having taunted me too many times when driving past.
Lovelly little gardens, but disappointed that somebody has stolen the sundialTwisted The murial is fantastic - have admired it, along with the one for Snow'n'Surf, for many years when heading into the city along Main North Rd. I wonder if they've ever considered making a model train to sit on the two small tracks at the bottom of the mural.
