I visited this cache to replace it but because of intimidating behaviour from a local I am archiving the cache.
Spend 10 minutes looking for this cache but no luck so we give up. Sevren was here twice before and they found the cache.
I am returning home in October and will be doing a check on all my caches as soon as it is possible.
Water was very cloudy today. Looks like a great spot when a bit warmer though. Bridge steel looks like it has been painted in the not to distant past. Wonder if the cache was disturbed by the painters?
Certainly looks like a great swimming hole. Maybe a little cold today so give it a miss. TFTC.

I need a few more caches to reach 1500 in 12 months by 16 February fir the bulk finding elective of the 'DGSc challenge' cache. With not much time available I had to do an early morning caching raid to the Leeston/Southbridge/Rakaia Huts area, being the nearest area with a reasonable number of unfound caches. About time this cache had a visitor! Cache easily found. Took GC. TFTC.

An angler made the hunt a little longer than it should. When he moved on the find was quickly found, thanks.Dropped in a coin.
Out and about on a sunny days adventure with the family. Heading home & we made a bit of a detour. Haven't been out this way before. Great spot. Quickly cornered the cache and carried on. Thanks. Too cool for school.
Yet another interesting place introduced to me courtesy of Geocaching, as i explored this tucked away corner of Godzone. Lovely day. TFTC.
Nice area and hide - had been swimming here in my youth - no muggles about today TNLN SL TFTH
TFTC. Such an isolated spot, but stealth still required as a car load of youth were enjoying the area on the opposite bank. Cache in good condition. River to dirty to swim - lots of rain fed water from higher up.
For a privately owned "beach" it was being well used; quite a party on the other side! Great spot and new to us. Thank you.
Found with Mr B. owe I wish he would have let me take a dip but the slave driver said we had to go find more caches. Next time. TFTC.
Making the most of the sunny weather going for a Sunday drive in the country.

Bit nippy for swimming today, still an interesting spot, always wondered how you accessed Rakaia Island. TFTC
(200) YES! 200 caches in 2 months, very happy with this, and a awesome spot also.. Would be a great swimming hole alright.. Even for a non swimmer like myself..
Will be back here in the summer for sure.!!! TFTC, SL.

Low cloud and drizzly mist today. Completely disorientated and had no idea where we were but managed to find the cache easily. TFTC
Should have brought our togs, really hot, summer has arrived. (tooooo old for skinny dipping) TFTC TNLN
We found this one quite quickly, and even found a concret seat to sit on.But the Bridge was very busy all of a sudden.Fishermen I suspect.TN LN TFTC
Nice area, even with the river dirty and high. A new area to come and explore. Thanks for sharing.
#967 (16/23 SW of Chch). Our map didn't show the road going this far, so was wondering how we would get to GZ, but it turned out the road went all the way there, Quick find. Swimming there looks like it would be exciting. TFTC.
Not much swimming happening here today, looks a little deep and fast for my liking, the eddy could be a go on a better day.
Also the rain and cold southerly where also a bit of turn off.
Cheers for the cache, did a little exploring down some of the near by 4WD tracks while I was here. I miss this kind of exploring.

River was well up today but still able to get the cache easily. I wouldn't be keen for a swim here at this time of year.

Took a bit of searching but found it easily enough. Last cache for the afternoon.

Have to come back for swimming, but even in summer this must be a cold spot! Today we just came for the cache.
Had us somewhat stumped owing to the Grand-daughters aversion to spiders, too busy looking for the spiders and didn't see it .... then she was mortified when Nana spotted it. Took Alien and left a fish-hook keeper.
Mrs S.t. spotted this one from about 3m away, but wouldnt go near it(Anachrophobic) It is a lot better hidden now, but still in the same place.
Cheers and thanks for the cache,

Easy find, awesome spot. Kids loved going for a swim, very safe area a bit further down from bridge. Took euro, horse and Book crossing book, left stickers, wishing stone and golf ball. TFTC
Nice quick find, however had some 4X4 people taking snaps of the bridge so had to wait round a little

Found this one tonight,, it is a nice easy cache this place looks like it could be a popular place in summertime .I do hope this cache doesnt get muggled,,cheers and thanks
Have crossed the bridge BC (before caching), going to the island, little realising there was a cache there! Took a friend who I was introducing to geocaching - she spotted this one too - her second. Think she likes it! Took horse, left micro tank. TFTC.
Our seventh find on a Labour Weekend cache drive. A great spot. While turning, met a BIG truck! He waved in a friendly manner [:D

We were half way across the bridge before we realised we were at the location. We backtracked and parked up. Several vehicles came by as we made a quick search and wrote up the log. Wild and windy today definately not swimming weather. Left a tiny metal picture.
It was surprising finding the bridge - the map showed the road as a dead-end. A nice quick find - but way too cold for swimming today. Thanks.
Last in the line of the ellesmere loop. An impressive hole, I have to say. Bridge was a bit busy but easy find and nice day for the drive. T4TC. Left two horses ... took nothing.

Bit of trouble finding this one as GPS unit would not stay still. Decided to look at the most obvious location and there it was.

Nice easy find. Wondered what the people in the 2 cars were doing meeting over the bridge in this deserted place!
Final cache that I hadn't found in this part of the world. Now I have a nice long row of ticks until some pillock puts out another cache and ruins it for me. Cheers, must try out the hole in better weather.
Popular spot today, it sounded as though there were quite a few people around the area and in the pool. I was able to easily find the cache without muggles seeing me. Cheers Gav [1099]
11:20 am - Found the swimming hole and the cache, but the water was a bit murky and the temperature not quite high enough to dive in. TFTC.
11:20 am - I found this one for me and Linleye. Didn't fancy a swim. Thanks.
Thought I'd try a spot of fishing while I was here but not really sure what to expect, no luck.
This is another place that I would probably never have visited if it wasn't for geocaching. This small branch of the Rakaia seems to have quite a lot of very fast flowing, discoloured water in it - probably snow-melt. No swimming for me today. Air temp is only 9 degrees anyway. TNLN T4TC. Cheers.
Fifth cache for the afternoon. GPS was spot on. Looked as though the swimming hole would be great when the weather is warmer.

This was our first find of a day out caching towards 200, the kids wanted to get there this weekend. I have actually done heaps of work on the equipment on the Island but lately the boss has been coming out so I had to do this cache out of work time. The kids think lytteltonwitch must be an Otago supporter

Failed to see the cache at first so made life hard for ourselves looking in all the wrong places. 5th cache of 7 for the day.Excellent swimming hole. + green dice, - bouncey ball.
A fair bit of traffic when I was hunting for this one, but really impressed by that swimming hole! It's massive but a bit cold for a dip currently. + shower cap - shower gel. Thanks.
1182. When you look at the map you can see what a large island it is over that private bridge. That was a great place for a cache.
Thanks

The wind was roaring in the pines, and ruffling the waters of the swimming hole. Rain was slashing horizontally - but it was all worth it to get the FTF. I don't usually cache in the rain (yeah, right!!) but 4 FTFs up for grabs was enough to entice me out. Easy find - I'm glad of that considering the weather. No swaps, thanks and cheers from Grandalf(554)
