I have not been able to get in to maintain this cache in SO long and I don't think I will be back that way in some time. I think I am going to have to archive it for now.

Found after widening the search. Log and contents completely soaked. Put some paper in but container has a hole in lid container needs replacing. Fun hiking in to the cache. TFTC

I was on my way back from the relatively nearby cache at the towers and this cache made for a nice side trip on the way back to the car. After quite a few minutes of searching and going in circles, I finally stumbled upon the cache after spotting the tell-tale sign of the hiding place. Once again, I was grateful that no hissing bities were encountered. Cache and log were in dire condition. Container was absoluted full to the brim with water and logbook was completely submerged. Somehow I managed to etch "WW" on the logbook. Definitely needs CO TLC. Thanks for the hide thetoads.

After the Five and Fifty event at Dunethin Rock yesterday, Snickersallan and myself decided to find this cache today. Long walk. Very tricky find. We found it 14m from GZ. TFTC!

On an early morning trek with mnance101 to find the three caches in this beautiful conversation park. This had us going around in circles and after reading through all the previous logs we decided to widen our search. We eventually found the cache about 14 mtrs from GZ, it was just luck that we found the right 'post'. Thanks thetoads and TFTC Smile

After having success at Use Satellite View, I decided to walk on to this cache before returning to Mitsi. Quite a while later I arrived at GZ and started my search - in the wrong place to start with so read the hint and realized where I should be. I soon found the cache but unfortunately the lid of the container is broken and needs replacing - after signing the log, I placed it in another zip lock bag to try and keep it dry. Retrieved TB Aussie Glow Ghost to continue its journey. Now all I have to do is find where I parked Mitsi. TFTC thetoads Smile

I was especially keen to find this cache as yesterday was the caches 10th birthday!! We were staying at Dunethin Rocks for the weekend caching event and ventured out for a morning in the bush after having been on the water canoeing all day yesterday. It was a really lovely walk and made easy by the fact that hubby had current trail maps and was able to read where we were and where we needed to go. Man I felt like I was just going around in circles. Paths going everywhere. A few riders out today too. We found the goods rather quickly - gps was jumping a bit. Decided to give the cache a birthday spoiling as it was wet inside and everything had gone rusty. We wiped it out. Dried it out. Removed all the yucky swaps. Added new swaps. Signed the log (which was still in good condition). Added a pencil and then tucked a bit better into it's hide and found a lovely big bit of camoflague to cover the cache, which will hopefully stop the rain getting in. Left a TB for the next lucky finder. Thanks for this cache thetoads. 10 years hey... We walked to one other cache in there and all up did 7 kms!

We had a small window of caching opportunity this afternoon between lunch and school pick up. We had lunch at the ginger factory as we had to pick up the great hamper we won at the Nambour show! Looking for a close by cache that was as yet unfound and wasn't going to take several hours to complete, we chose this one in Parklands conservation park.
We chose Thompsons Rd for the closest park - whether it actually is closest or not, I'm still not sure. We headed in following the main track - obviously the maintenance crew have not visited for a while, as the track was blocked by several fallen trees. Easy for us to get around though. We chose a right turn in the general direction of the arrow, then there were no tracks going the way we wanted, so we headed straight down and up a few gullies, crossed a few creeks and up a very steep embankment through a forest of bracken fern. WRazz We found another track then honed in on gz, although the gps was very indecisive. By using the hint, we eventually found it. Big Grin
Took pirate coin, left ping pong ball.
Now to get back....??? We followed a few small tracks in the general direction, wishing (as I see other finders have as well) that we'd set a waypoint at the car. We were not too far from another unfound cache but as it was in the opposite direction to the car, we didn't have enough time left for it this time. Sad
Finally found the car again after about an hour round trip. The little tracks looked quite scary to ride a bike down...!

Staying in yandina for the weekend and decided it would be a great time to up my terrain average for a challenge I'm working on.
This one was one to add to the weekends list.
With quite a few ups and downs (literally) I followed the paths to GZ. Once I arrived it took me a little to work out which fallen tree however once the GPS settled it was quickly found.
Then it was time to work my way back out.

Bli-Bli Bounty.. Should now be renamed.. Path which Path?

Set off on this cache to complete one of my boxes on my matrix.. I thought this will be a nice walk so I set off.. Soo many paths to follow and had no idea which one to take so I started off following paths which took me to the general direction of the cache.. Up and Down I go, getting caught up bushes and tripping over.. I eventually found the cache...

Coming back is a different story.. feeling tired after my hike I thought i'd better stick to the path so I eventually found a road.. followed that for ages and came upon the radio tower... oops.. i think i went to far..
Heading to what i thought was the direction of my geo-mobile i kept walking and walking.. hmm... should be there by now.. Nope.. look on the map.. not even close..

hmmmm.... hey look theres some houses.. thats gotta be my street.. hmm... i don't remember parking here.. wheres my car??? lol..

Oh dear.. I can't actually remember where I parked..? whoopsy daisy... Ending up being over 4km from where I parked my car I had to call Privatears to come to the rescue..

Thanks thetoads.. I really enjoyed this cache and my crazy adventure.. for this I give you a favourite!!

(Note to self... set way point for location of car next time Smile

I had actually not really planned on visiting this cache today, but once I was down on the tracks here, and actually saw on closer inspection of the maps on my GPSr that there are many more tracks then first meets the eye, I decided to go for it.

I headed off and picked out my track to follow, only problem was that I could not see the cache and all the tracks on the same screen yet, so it was a bit of a gamble. Soon enough I was just over 100m from the cache and what do I spy a feint path which traverse's in the general direction of GZ just a bit further along the track. Either way it saved another 1km+ looping around the bottom end of the tracks.

As I arrived near GZ I started having a look around, checking out a few different options but really not finding anything of interest. I did a little reading with what reception I had and a small detail jumped out at me, a quick check and sure enough there was the cache. I added my name to the log book and headed back towards the car.

A really good walk through here, not to challenging, but not to easy. I only wish I had my MTB with me.

After a bit too much to drink last night, needed to clear the head and the stomach. Teamed up with SwellerFungus, K8'n'Co, Hotwheels Duo, Brother Colin, Dutchie and IolantheK. It wasn't too steep but still felt a little queasy here and there. The weather was beautiful and the area is delightful. A very enjoyable way to spend the morning. Thank you for placing this cache. #267 - After a few early ones with IolantheK and before the start of seirra1's Anniversary Event a 2pm we join forces with Brother Colin, Hot Wheels Duo, The Green Geckos, Swellerfungus and K8'n'Co for a bit of a hike in the Parklands Forest Reserve.

Not being much used to this kind of up 'n down hiking it takes a bit out of me, but...... with lots of patient people around I am determined to keep up. Even better when I get the loan of some walking poles! One nasty fall a day is more than enough. Sad

Arriving a GZ I am late enough to see a few smug faces. The cache has already been found, but we all get a chance... Log is signed collectively. Ready for the next one.

On my way to an event today at Dunethin Rocks near Bli Bli with a bunch of fellow cray caching enthusiasts and thought I would get an early start to pick up a few caches on the way.
I had tried to make it out to the Parklands on the Dunethin Rocks event last year, but there was just too much happening. So I made sure I made the time this year. On arriving at the event I rounded up a few likely candidates for a walk (K8nCo, The Green Geckos, Brother Colin, Iolanthe K, Hot Wheels Duo and Dutchie) and convinces=d them that a walk in the bush was just the thing to do before the event started. After wrangling up the few slower ones in the group (you know who you are Heather!), we set off.

Our second in this parklands today, and after catching up with group 2 stragglers, it was a really nice stroll, with a few heart starters thrown in for good measure.
Cache was found in good order, however thee outer 9non) cammo bag was replaced to to severe deterioration. It is now covered in a ziploc bag.
Nice one the toads. Thanks fro the hide.

Visiting the Sunshine Coast for Seirra's event meant we had a morning of walking to get some smilies. This pocket is a very pretty area and a challenging walk for me. Cache was located quickly, signed and off we went again.

It is August and I am going for the 7 souvenirs. Cool
And there are 2 events nearby over the week-end. Big Grin
So a group of about 8 of us decided to head out here and go for a walk to get the blood pumping after a rather big night at the campsite. Razz
We slowly made our way out to GZ following all of the correct tracks despite me trying to lead everyone off the wrong way every so often. Razz
Now, how can I sign the log book before everyone else works out I have found the cache while they are searching over there? Wink
Thanks for the cache.

Dutchie1950 and I are at Dunethin Rock for the weekend to attend Seirra1's Anniversary Event Big Grin This morning we met up with Brother Colin and Hot Wheels Duo to head across to the Parklands for a bit of a walk. Here we joined forces with Swellerfungus, K8'n'Co and The Green Geckos who had already found one other cache, and continued along the pathways.

Lots of upping and downing was done, and we arrived at GZ, where everyone spread out to search. Soon Brother Colin got his smug grin on his face, meaning he had made the find, but was very happy to sit back and watch the fun Razz I also spotted it, and sat back to watch him tease the others Wink Most entertaining! Eventuality all was revealed and a mass signing occurred. TFTC. thetoads.

On my way to Seirra1 Anniversary Event GC56GMP for the weekend.

Well after success at 153 and back on the main track and only 900m to this one, feeling pretty good for a young fella, off I set.

Found a track heading in the right direction, rats, it turned the wrong way, bush bash, Ah another track - right way, for a time, bush bash again, at least, it's down hill, up the other side, another track, good, a bit easier going up hill, it's turned away, Sad after a bit more bush bashing, found the cache, and you guessed it, at long last found the right track, 1k in 1.2k out, but a lot easier.

The cache is Cool

Late Friday afternoon frolicking in the forest with SuzySquirrel. After finding the one nearby, we were soon in pursuit of this one. Using the cycle maps, we still took a wrong turn or two, but we ended up on the most direct route here.

Once at GZ, Suzy followed the clue and soon had the ache in hand.

Thanks for the cache toads.

#251~ Walking and walking and walking and walking. Whatever it was that made me agree to a late afternoon/ early evening adventure in the bush with dahumbug really needs a good talking to. Not such a bad walk really (if there weren't hills). Got to GZ as the sun began its descent so the race was on. What looks like a post? I thought. Over there, over here, hmm... perhaps that could be a post and lo and behold, there it was. Signed the log, wrapped her back up nice and tight and hastily made our retreat. An interesting trip back out as sixteen billion cicadas began their horror movie wailing and we needed torches to slide back down the hills I previously complained about climbing. I don't know what was worse. A great adventure with dahumbug though. Hopefully I will sleep well tonight. TFTC thetoads Smile

I wasn't planning on visiting Parklands today but I was going past and had this cache on my list so I just had to stop. I parked at the eastern entrance and decided to walk, not ride, which was a wise decision for the most part as I did encounter some pretty rough terrain on my chosen path. There is an amazing network of paths through here and it would have been fun on the MTB in places. I had downloaded the OpenCycleMaps data for my previous visit to 153 but I couldn't find it on my device today. This proved to be a bit of a problem on my way back and I pulled out the old magnetic compass to get my bearings because the paths seemed to wind around aimlessly! Nice if you are just having a ride but not helpful when you are wanting the straightest path back to the geodub! I did see a little eastern brown snake too which darted off into the grass, take care!

Anyway, close to GZ I started searching and eventually found the cache. It seemed to be about 10m away according to my two receivers. Thanks for the cache in this wonderful playground!

Found it, all good. Now to get out of here.

Now then just what is the best way to this cache – a no brainer try Komine, but where to then maybe Red Dog (no not the movie), maybe Roo Valley, TNT or even Dawecent. Then again U[pper New Zealand was a nice ride as was the Link. Eventually I found myself on Shadowlands and I had already been on Rock-dial-Loop a day ago.

Man I really did do a Double Dab on the brakes almost flying of the Handlbar when I came face to face with a brown snake looking right at me. Now what does one do clipped in on a single trail motionless with a brown snake 1 m away looking right at you. Running is just not an option and Mountain Bikes don’t have a reverse gear. Option 2 stay very still seemed to work as once it worked out I was not a threat it decided to take – off into the grass. But those tracks all seem to criss cross very close together I just hoped I would not run into my new friend again.

After taking a Chairlift and then a Fireline I was soon on my way back out from my adventure (riding round in endless circles.

Oh yes and I did find a cache while I was in there Cool

What a bummer. We headed to this one late in the afternoon. After getting frustrated with following the trails to the cache son and I decided to Parkour style the last 300 meters of this one. (Find bearing and head straight to it. Over, under, through it, it didn't matter.) We hunted for some time at GZ with the GPS flicking here, there, and everywhere but where the cache must have been. With night falling and a son now talking about surviving the night out here we decided to head back to the car. Will try again another time maybe one morning. ~ TFTC thetoads Smile

This is our last cache in this area to find and it was quite a walk but we stuck to the main tracks until we had to veer west.
The up hills were quite tiring and the down hills were taxing in that we did not want to slip over.
The tracks have been recently graded and this has helped keep them in good condition.
When we arrived at GZ, it took little while to find the cache but finally I did.
TNLNSL TFTC Thanks the toads Cool All good with this cache

Headed out today with jake&bob for some finds in the reserve. We headed to the bli bli bounty after doing "one fifty three" cache. Following the gps from there we obviously took a few wrong turns and by the time we reached the cache were buggered! Was a fun find though and we found a much better way out, heading up to the ridge and then a left to our car...some steep hills along the way. TFTC!!

we decided to bush bash it to get from cache to cache instead of taking the walking trail. it did cut a lot of walking out but some of the hills and dense bush in places made it a bit of a battle but all the same it was a great hike. two of us walked by this one before the third cacher in our group spotted it and called out to us. just as we hit ground zero some muggles on bikes rode by so keep an eye out when stopping at this one.

27-Mar-11
Boy did this one take some work, although it wouldn't have been so bad if i didn't have to carry dylan 1/2 the way down and nearly all of way back. [xx(] We parked at a trail entrance on a ridge about 500 meters above GZ (the road to the towers at the top of the hill) and began our decent down the first bike track we came across.
As per previous logs, there are mountain biking tracks everywhere and they rarely intersect, so a couple of times we left markers where we bush bashed a short distance from one track to another to save some time. This helped us more so on the way back a couple of times where we knew we didn't have to walk 100 meters to gain 25m 'as the crow flies'. Smile
We eventually arrived at GZ Big Grin after about 1.5km of walking we guessed, and the treasure was soon in our sweaty little hands. We had encountered a couple of light showers on the way down, but it actually started raining when we got there. Sad The cache is in good condition and dry although there is lots of holes in the outer bag containing the cache. Now all we had to do was meander our way back up the hill to the car while carrying our 2 year old.....in the rain. [XX(] (he has put in a champion effort today) TNLN. Thanks for the adventure thetoads

What a MISSION. I pesonally found the maps at the entrance to the park about as useful as a wet paper bag. I set about going the way my instincts told me.. I hesitated on a few tracks.. and then ended up taking them. I got to the point (500m) where I was getting fed up going around GZ. I went down into the bush slightly and found a path. I managed to follow the paths (bike paths) all the way to the cache. My GPSr put GZ on the path and did this consistently. I widened the search and found nothing. I was not leaving until I had the thing - I had spent way too long to just give up now.

I finally located it after about 40 minutes of looking. The cache is in excellent conditoin. I have posted up the co-ords that ended up working for me. TFTC thetoads - I am so happy to get this one Smile

Well I did it! Last of 4 caches. All four Parklands caches on foot in one morning. Only took me about 4 hours. I can't help it I had to check out the birds while I was there. Tracks both official and unofficial (mountain biker) going everywhere. Got as close as I could on the official tracks then finally found a series of unofficial tracks going roughly in the right direction. The cache cover really stands out and made it an easy find.
Found this one before One Fifty Three so followed the same types of trails back to the park entrance about 6km round trip. Took longer than Wonder Wits but I didn’t bush bash until the last 15m.
Great cache and enjoyed the walk and the experience. TNLNSL TFTC

The tracks don't show up on the sat photos, but the ridge lines do ... took a dog leg "straight" to GZ from Atkinson Rd. 1320hrs. Yeah we cross it off the radar. We had a great days hiking and got all 3 caches here. This one was the hardest to get to and we ended up bush bashing on and off trails to find it. The hike out was all up hill but at least then it was downhill back to the geomobile. More people should make the effort to do these caches. TFTCSL.

Loved the walk in to get to this one but didn't find what I was after. There had been a lot of traffic through the area between the two tracks as a few of the old rotting saplings were broken and a few rotting logs crushed. I searched for about 30 minutes but left scratching my head. "Post', what post? I'll be back soon to try again. Thanks for taking me to a great area.

Just a note to say that we have just been to check the cache after the entry by "Mtbikeroz" suggested it had either been muggled or at least needed maintenance - Bli Bli Bounty is safe and sound in good condition and still in it's origional hidey-hole.

Still one of my favorite areas and a definite favorite cache.

Er, Ahem, I SERIOUSLY think this cache is GONE.

I searched EVERYWHERE (including the clue) within a 30m RADIUS of the gz coords, for would you believe, 90 mins.
The Clue "****" was possibly the 1m high perfect candidate at gz, but NUFFIN!!!!! If the "****" was taller or shorter, I searched them too. I searched ALL fallen trees, logs, and even all the stumps.

GZ was putting me just across the track from the 2nd largest stump.

I really think the owner needs to re-check this one, AND/OR give another coordinate fix. Seriously. And more of a better descriptive clue, ie, regarding size of the items hiding the cache.

Lovely area though, walked on trails ALL the way there, would love to have my MTB in there, just fantastic.

01-May-07
Please see my log below - I have real doubts if it is there, and/or the coords are incorrect. (Note - though the gps was jumping around a bit, it regularly put me at where I said gz was in my log below.)
If the owner is a local, a check I feel is needed. Beats me though, how it could go missing, unless the coords are wrong by a 30m+ amount.

After bushbashing to get to 153 I had little idea of the layout of the tracks. Everytime I thought I found a track which would take me in the right direction it would appear to take me no nearer the cache. Eventually I was only 400m away and decided to bush bash to the cache. Upon arrival the GPS decided not to play along and with 20m accuracy took half an hour to find the little sucker. Next I had to find my car again....isn't trackback marvelous ...when theres reception. Luckily I spend a lot of time in the bush and followed my nose cross country eventually coming across some familiar tracks. A good cache in interesting bushland. It is easy to feel far more remote than you really are in there. Took much longer than I thought. TNLNSL

Thanks taods for this cache...enjoyed the walk, jog, scramble...Big Grin

We enjoyed our walk to this cache though the track log looked a little zig-zaggy by the time we reached GZ. We pretty much stuck to a path of some description all the way.

A really pretty bit of bush made all the more enjoyable by the everchanging scenery.

After we dragged ourselves up the final hill we were greeted by OMY130 with a couple of cold cans of Coke! What a champion!!! Thanks mate.

A top spot - thanks for the exercise.

Found with geonephew, 'Bedmaker'. We took the scenic route to this one. I'd show you our GPS track but I'm too embarrassed Red Face. What the hell, we had a fabulous ride in the bush, we were all over the place and our sense of direction took a severe battering. There was no sun as a storm was moving in and it was getting late. We eventually found GZ, probably should have bush bashed straight to it. The hint about a 'post' is a good cryptic one. But for that, we would have spent a lot more time searching.
TN/LN/SL.
Used the GPSr's backtrack feature to find our way out, and it was a much quicker trip. Arrived back at the car, loaded the bikes in the gloomy light, started the motor and the rain fell down. That was real close. Thanks for a great time 'thetoads'.

Found with geo-uncle Lat&long junkie. Used the geo-bikes to get there. What a great place for a ride, not too many steep hills. Took a while to get to GZ as we where all over the place trying to find a track to it. Eventually arrived and found after a short search. Signed log then made a move as it was nearly dark and a storm was moving in. Arrived back at Bedmaker mobile and hopped in just as the rain started.

Thanks thetoads for the excuse for a bike ride.

Have only been here on one other occasion, while searching for One Fifty Three, but I really love it. I think I almost discovered every little track in this spot, as I somehow managed to always pick the one that took a turn and headed in the wrong direction. There are worse places to go round in circles though. Found the cache easy enough. TNLN

Took a bit of searching to locate the correct track for this one - eventually did some cross country work to find the cache. Unfortunately the Millie Beagle TB listed as inventory was not to be foundSad TNLN TFTC

This area of forest is amazing. Or should that be, a maze.
There are tracks running everywhere. Too many to work out which was the right one, so some cross country work was in order Big Grin
Found the cache eventually and all is well. At about this point my luck with dodging the showers ran out. Twas a wet walk back to the geomobile Razz

This was the second of two caches we did in the general area. Enjoyed the bush walk even though it was quite a hike. Thanks thetoads. Left travel bug and took nothing.

My first FTF - Yippee!!
Saw this listed on the web this afternoon, so I madly threw the bike in the car and headed up the hill. I ride in this forest quite a bit so I had a good idea where it was. Hunted around a bit in the failing light with the GPS position wavering a bit from the tree cover. Found it just on dark - filled out the log by LED light.
Took: Phone charger.
Left: Keyring torch and Yowie animal.
Did a bit of 'trail by Braille' on the way out, (LED light not that great to ride by.)

Nice stash.

Thanks,
Don =)
