As there's been no cache to find or log to sign for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Found this travel bug at the top of Pulpit Rock , as it is known by the locals. Since then it has been on a long overseas journey through the middle east including Abu Dhabi in the UAE, then on through Petra, Wadi Rum, Amman and Jerash in Jordan, Cairo, the pyramids, Luxor and Aswan in Egypt and by ferry to Wadi Halfa in Sudan. From there it travelled by overland truck through several historical and archaelogical sites in Sudan into Ethiopia. There it visited Gonder, the Simien Mountains, the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela and Addis Abeba before crossing into Kenya at Moyale. It has been through the Samburu and Lake Nakuru game reserves, been to the source of the Nile at Jinja in Uganda and tracked mountain gorillas also while in Uganda. Then it headed into Tanzania where, after some deliberation, decided not to continue on to Cape Town with it's escort but to stop at the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro for a well earned rest.

Cache vandalised. Will relist when repaired.

Found it or should say what we believe to be some of the cache contents, a mini torch, key ring and a red book all laying around. No sign of the container. Apart from this disapointment the view across to Bundanon and up and down the river was breathtaking.

You were right about the view. We left a phone (trackable) for anybody wants a quick word with any body above. TFTC

Found this cache after weekend camping at Coolendel with friends and a 40th birhday party. Wow, what a view. I have seen some great views in NSW. but this would to be one of the prettiest view of the river and surround country side. Thanks for bringing us here and TFTC.

Hallelejuah we found it. We read the previous logs, made a mental note to look for the metal gate on the eastern side then follow the nice easy path. Found the metal gate, saw a track, but we were still on the western side - oh, it cant be that steep we thought .... it was ! But we made it, and the view was amazing. Amen. TNLN, SL, TFTC.

An extremely scenic vantage point to overlook the surrounding district.
Found GZ with minimal clues, but with some assistance from Geogirl of "The Hunter Gatherers".
Second find for the day in this general area, both with magnificent views of this stunning area.
TNLN. Thanks again to "The Hunter Gatherers" for guiding us to this fantastic spot.

Excellent views of the Shoalhaven River once at GZ. found with 4x4kid TFTC

This was out third for the day and it is the second time we have tried to find this Cache.

The first time we followed the Clue and we had no idea. The trick is to park half way down the hill just near the big steel gate and then it is a nice easy walk up the track until see the track leading off to the left up the hill.

We took out neighbours as they are new to the area. They could not believe the view and neither could we. No photo does this justice. It a must do cache if you visit the Shoalhaven.

It was an easy find as the kids had the cache in hand even before I got to the top. We thought we would take this bug and show it some of the local sights before moving on.

I was not up for a vertical climb being sick and all so we went in search for the walking track. we just seemed to go up and up. Finally made it to the top where I was sure we were very close to heaven as we where so high up and the view was breath taking. I read psalm 33 out loud from the pulpit (using the small bible provided in cache) with god claiming that what we could see was his creation and I don't blame him taking the credit for it as I would if I could. This was surely one of the worthy caches for the day tftc

We have been waiting to do this cache as our 100th. Today was the day.
It was perfect weather, awesome views and there were a few boats on the river.
Not a difficult walk, but some areas that I would not like to lose my footing.
Woohoo for Moo&Woo 100!

Came on my own in the morning. I had driven the road and paddled the river below, but had not known what a great view was available for the price of a short walk (after a not so short bike ride!). Returned in the evening on the drive home and led the other headless chook up to the rocks to claim a find of his own.

Actually I was planning to do this one as a quick drive by on my way home! I was able to park within 200 meters of GZ and still thinking I would grab the stash in a few minutes! Not coming from the east and not able to find a track in, I went for the direcct approach! Luckily I do have quit some mountaineering skills as I was gone need them!
Had fun on the rocks/cliffs and the view at the end was worth all the effort!

Wow, what an awesome spot. Mr H was working nearby today and had a bit of spare time this afternoon so decided to show a mate what geocaching is all about. This was a great cache to use as an example, and judging by the positive response (despite the rain) we'll probably be gaining another geocacher amongst the fraternity!
The weather this afternoon hampered the visibility a little but it was still a fantastic view from up here. It's also very interesting reading about Arthur Boyd and seeing some of the paintings of this rock.
Thanks for taking us here,
The Hancock Clan

A very enjoyable find for Fathers Day, beautiful weather, beautiful views, we decided to take a bit of a picnic on this one and enjoyed lunch at the top of the Pulpit over looking Arthur Boyd’s place.

Came across a small but aggressive Tiger snake on the way down basking in the sun, a bit of a Mexican stand off for a while, but the snake decided we were to big to tackle and took off in the bush. Well done to Max for spotting the snake as it was very big, but as we know extremely venomous.

Also spotted a large Goanna and got a pic of him

This one didn't look far from the road so popped out and started up, and up, and up. Pretty steep hill and then a short scramble at the end- read the notes next time and come in from the east! Anyway, spectacular views were worth the climb- came back down the easy way to the east and got the transport to come around. Thanks for a great cache.

WOW! What a fantastic spot, and well worth the climb! (In typical fashion, I didn't find the easy way, and persevered up the rather steep climb from the bottom road). Byangee introduced me to Geocaching a few years ago, and I've been hooked ever since, but hadn't had the chance to explore this site before.
Thanks for the cache, Byangee, it really is a magnificent place.
TNLNSL.

Decided a walk in the bush was needed this afternoon so ventured out to find this cache. With the Geokids in tow (or backpack as the case might be) we headed up the track to begin the search.

Turning off the main track we thought it couldn't be that far up the hill but but were amazed at how far it kept going, and amazed by the view along the way. Comments were made along the way that with a bit of pipe music playing we could have almost been in the middle of picnic at hanging rock.

After some fun scrambling over the rocks we made the summit to be greeted by a spectacular view. Found the cache and then sat back and admired the view. A very peaceful spot indeed.

Thanks for the cache and for leading as to such a spectacular spot so close to home.

A few days ago I was caught driving past a several caches but I didn't have the coordinates with me, so I decided to try GPSless caching. Both had good descriptions, and with a bit of searching and a bit of luck I found 2 out of 2. Today I thought I'd try more GPSless caching, this time deliberately. This cache looked promising. A good description and the cache likely be within a fairly well defined area. I hadn't been here before, but knew of the rock from Arthur Boyd's paintings. Whilst living at Bundanon on the other side of the river from here he included Pulpit Rock in many of his Shoalhaven Series of works.

Less than 20 minutes from car to top of the rock. After a short break to absorb the breathtaking view, it was time to start the search. Just a few minutes and the cache was in hand. GPS was still in my pocket, coordinates not even entered into the GPS. Very rewarding feeling.

Took nothing and left nothing, but I'll be back with a camera very soon.

Thanks Byangee for bringing me here. This is what caching is all about. Getting to amazing places that you might otherwise never go.

One word....brilliant!! Having never been to the Shoalhaven area before, this was my first for the region. If they were all like this I would move house. Needs a little maintenance as the container is getting overfull. TNLNSL

What a view! Usually I'm one of the clowns waterskiing up the river below but today we were off to yalwol for a play in the mud. A while ago while on the river for a days skiing, we watched a rescue helicopter use this spot for some winch training. They flew in winched a guy on to the pulpit and then came back and picked him up. Thanks for the cache we realy enjoyed this one. Cheers Greg.

Thanks byangee for showing us this awesome view. I really like locations like this - great rock formations, cliffs and views. Absolutely marvellous. An eagle was flying overhead as we signed the log.

We hadn't planned on getting this one, so we ended up coming up a fairly direct and steep route before we hit the cliff line, and then took the gentle and sensible way back down.

Found with SecretSquirrel-BJC.

We had no sense of the 'right' or 'wrong' way to approach the GZ so took the direct approach from the northern aspect. Found a gap through the cliffs and had the cache logged in short time. Spent ages admiring the views.

It's been a while but we are into geocaching again. What a lovely excuse to get out and go for a walk.Drove right around the thing befor finally resorting to Shank's pony.
We used the grid refereces but I prefer to stay a metre south of the final figure for the sake of my vertigo. The views were worth it. Took nothing and left nothing.

Thanks, Pelusa and Laura

Loved the walk, but was made to feel bad when beaten to the spot by a friend who was 39 weeks pregnant!!!!!

8th for the day, and getting close to sunset. Parked the geomobile in a likely spot, grabbed the camera and headed off up the track. The light had a nice golden glow by the time I summited, so I spent a few mins snapping some photos to keep my desktop wallpaper interesting. After a while did the cache thing and headed back down before the daylight failed. Awesome views and a highly recommended cache!!!

TNLNSL and thanks Smile

We did another cache here a few years ago when you could drive in a lot further. The sun was setting and casting its golden light colouring the vista, it really makes you appreciate the work of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Took coin.

I set off on a hot still day but by the time I was at the top the weather was rain and wind. I had often looked at this peak coming home from Yalwal and wonderered if it was climbable, well now I know. What a view, Thanks.

09-Feb-07
From one side of town to the other and a spot that I've driven past plenty of times as I head out 4x4ing.
What great views from here and some of the rock formations that line these cliffs certainly made for some fun exploring.
TNLN Thanks.

04-Nov-06
This was our last cache for the day and what a high to end on. The walk (climb) up surprised us after a day of bashing through the bush but we enjoyed our rest once the cache was in hand and we could sit and watch the sun go down. I had driven past this spot many times and even in the bush fires in 2004, thanks for showing us this great spot.

We'll be back just for the views...

A truly wonderful place with fantastic views of the Shoalhaven. The names and dates carved into the rocks can take you back and wonder how these people came here. Did they ride a horse or walk from Nowra? We found dates 1900 & 1909 but I bet there are ones earlier than that we didn't see. What an adventure! Thanks for bringing us to this beatiful locality byangee.

This was our first successful regular cache. What a magnificent location. You truly feel on top of the world.

29-Aug-06
Couldn't find way to the top (of the Pulpit)& left my SatPhone in the car. Will give it another go when the bees are less annoying - it must be spring!

16-Aug-06
What a view!! Well hidden from casual observation. The coordinates are out though. Should be E150 30.137, not E150 03.137. Then it is spot on!

The travel bug has come with me for a visit, but there was not enough room for what I had to leave. But I will be back.
