Last of my day driving through the rain to Glendalough. Had the perfect geocoin to leave behind I had conveniently grabbed from a certain caching event in Dublin the night before which wants to visit churches so what better place then here Very Happy Walked right past it the first time but spotted on the send round without needing the hint. It wasnt too late but I was already a bit cold and wet and with big plans for tomorrow (and a few prayers for the blasted rain to go away!) I decided to call it a day and head into my hostel. A rest, a good feed, then the real work would begin! Cheers Fjon!

Before leaving Laragh we walked from our hotel up the road to get this cache. I love the story, the statue was pretty and the cache was soon in our hands. TFTC

It was a fine, sunny and warm day when we arrived in the picturesque Glendalough valley to do some caching. We found the spot using the in-car sat nav Garmin Nuvi, which was fine for the general location but not precise enough to pinpoint GZ. However, being too lazy to put the coords into the real GPS and deciding that the clue and/or our superior geocaching experience was sufficient, we set off to find the cache. Strolling up the path towards the church, we came across a pretty garden of blue flowers that was filled with butterflies. After a few unsuccessful attempts to make great pictures, we turned our attention back to caching. Found a sculpture with a blackbird that seemed to be what the clue was referring to, however at that moment a muggle entered the grounds and started wandering up the path towards us, so we could not conduct a search there. Then he sat down and started reading a book, so we continued wandering around the gardens hoping he was not sitting on the cache.
Eventually, we came back to another statue with a blackbird that seemed a more likely cache location than the other one. Finally decided to put the coords in the GPS and soon discovered the cache after that! It was in a place I hadn't thought of looking as it was a bit out of my reach, but my partner retrieved it and we walked back to the car to sign the log and rummage through the swaps. Getting the cache back was slightly more difficult as more and more muggles were arriving in cars, but my partner managed it using a handy map as cover. Thanks for our first cache in Ireland and greetings from Australia and the Netherlands!
