Logs
Yeh changed grumpy blue face to a smile. Out with busy paws today as both need a multi today. It certainly pays to read previous logs to get this one. Ignore hints as they are wrong for WP1 and WP2. A stunning day and awesome views today to find this cache. Thanks for the multi and cache Hello Mrs.
Out for the morning with coconuts3 this multi was needed. Great track for the final, the places you see with caching!!for this multi you need to read previous logs, they are very essentially helpfulWonderful views from the track, such a lovely day. Nice easy find at GZ. TFTC.
Can co please check because wp2 is missing. Previous finder hasn't found wp either. ([*view log*](https://coord.info/GL1AQRTPW)) If it's missing please replace as E coords are written on post and won't last forever. ??
This morning completed the wpts of this cache then went to sumner and had some lunch. Entered the coords in and found the cache there. Thanks to ivss_xx for writing on the post the E coords!Nice cache. TFTC TheWanglers for creating and maintaining this Multi-Cache GCYB51 (Kildare Cliff Hanger (Canterbury))!Found the cache GCYB51 (Kildare Cliff Hanger (Canterbury)) on 28/09/23, at 1:24 PM#166
16:30This multi was hanging around on the map, relatively close by; yet I hadn't really looked into it or attempted it.I did read that there could be a waypoint missing, so I came prepared. I talked to a previous finder at an event and got the needed info. I still visited both waypoints, of course, as this is a multi, and they are also nice wee spots, both worth a visit. To my surprise, it looks like it's Wp2 that is missing, the one on the steps. And Wp1 is there, although it's the replaced version from 2020.As the Wp2 is supposed to be magnetic and on the pole, and I didn't have a magnetic container to replace, I wrote the E part of the coordinates on the pole itself. Not sure how long that will last though.I've been on this track before, possibly walked past very close to the cache. But it's on the 'lower level', rather than on the main track where the coordinates seemed to point. Good thing for the hint, that helped me find it. I dried out the container, cleaned the seal and changed the logbook baggie. Original logbook from 2006! These logs should go to a geocaching museum!Kia ora! Paldies! Thanks for the cache, Hello Mrs!#9887
Sadly have to log a dnf as waypoint 1 is missing a cache with the South co ords in it. Hint is very clear and dug out bark from under rock, checked under and in agapanthus. Can't do this multi.
I have a day off today so I decided to go out and find this multi. I have been here previously but was unsuccessful. That was years ago. Thanks for hiding this cache Hello Mrs I appreciate it.
Really nice to find this lonely cache! Junior cacher found both waypoints and then the final without much trouble. We cleaned out the cache box as it was a bit dirty and damp but the log was dry in its plastic bag. Great spot for the final, we've been here before, on a walk up from another cache and I thought at the time that it would be a great spot for a cache. Tftc, thanks for keeping this oldie going!
Gosh I spent some time on this one yesterday. First wp was easy even though not as hint says. Second one turned out to be magnetic so I wasted a lot of time before I got my hands on it. It was buried under leaf litter. Headed off to final but took shortcut. Bad move. Couldn't find it so paffed over night and now today well, there it was. Thank goodness! Thanks for the challenging multi. Had not been here before.

We solved this with just the East coordinate, the information in the description and Google satellite. The hint was helpful too.
We have also replaced missing WP1 with the South coordinate. It is in a pill bottle in a hole in the rock under the K. Please replace as found with the stone to conceal from children's view.
TFTC!

We visited WP2 first, and spent a good long time searching among the rocks and flax, until discovering that it is magnetic! At WP1, however, we discovered evidence of recent work by city care. The plants under the K are no longer agapanthas ... We suspect it disappeared when the gardening was done. We will contact the the CO and offer to replace.
Wow, this one has been sitting in the list of caches to find for quite a while. I got the coords years ago and haven't managed to be in the area again till today on the way to a Trademe pickup. So a pleasant stroll and there it was. Cheers, nice views from here.
Found this today, two and a half years after I first attempted it. The caches at the waypoints were easy to find this time and the walk to the final was enjoyable. Cache found according to hint and was in good condition. TFTC!
I found the coords intended for WPT2 in a cache on the other side of the city. It seems the two containers got switched. I've put a log in that cache, and today I popped the coordinate slip into the container at WPT2 for this one.
Good to go!

I wanted a "long time unfound cache" to complete a challenge and this one popped up. Having read the last couple of logs, I wasn't too hopeful of finding the waypoints so I sat down with Google maps to see if I could see anything promising for a final GZ.
Having studied the map, previous logs and the cache description, I had a reasonable idea of where the cache could be. So today I parked the car at McCormack's Bay and walked up the hill and back down the track. Along the way I came to my possible GZ and had a good search around. I am pleased to report that the cache is still there, all tucked away and bone dry inside but I was disappointed that there was no one around to see my happy dance!! TFTC.

The hint is very clear as to location of WP1 but no sign of container for us. Getting a bit sick of DNFs in the Mt Pleasant area! Kids losing interest fast...
Kildare Cliff Hanger (Canterbury) was transferred from Hello Mrs to user TheWanglers
Had a good forage around but unable to find cache at first way point. Notice this hasn't been found in a year ... Is it still there?
What a great little cache hunt.
I found the first couple of waypoints but my gps was giving me dodgy readings and I had two unsuccessful attempts over a few days
Finally I asked CO for a little nudge in the right direction, Hello Mrs replied with a set of clues suspiciously like the ones already available... cunning..
So back to GPS 101 for me and a few tweaks here and there and voila! back in business.
Mrs A joined me for this one tonight with updated GPS in hand we had a great we walk and a wonderful spot to enjoy the view we wiled away some time.

A very enjoyable multi cache. Had some fabulous views on a sunny but windy day. Great little reserve and lookout point at GZ. No-one had signed the log book for a long time. Left TB "Alone in the Dark" and it will definitely be that at GZ. Hopefully it won't take as long for the next person to move it on. TFTC.
This is our second excrusion out to get this one. The first trip was with Mrs TheWanglers and we grabbed the first two WPs. Loved the steps on one WP. We had to drive up and down the hill due to one little patch of road works that closed off the road. We saved the final for another day. This moring the cachelets and I headed out to grab this one and try and find a WP for another multi. We went up the wrong side of the valley and didn't realise until we descended down the slippery path. The kids and I loved it. But the GZ started creeping away from us. We aborted the attempt and went to try another route via a stop at another WP. We parked at the spot I spied from across the valley and we made a nice wee stroll down to GZ. It wasn't as slippery this time. The cloud was low and a bit drizzly. The sun was shining off the esturary and ocean, lovely. We found the cache and was glad for the hint as my GPSr was pointing me 10m away. The girls made some swaps and I removed at letter of the french kind (still in it's packet) someone placed in the cache before the girls asked me what it was. Not quite the family type of swap We headed back to the truck and got a cache for day 3 of 31 in August. The other cache we snagged the wp for can wait for fairer weather.
Thanks for the cache.

Out and about on an evenings adventure. Cheekily I "saved time" by not even finding the WP's....knew the track roughly so headed straight to the track head.....bit of a walk & my torch highlighted an interesting feature along the way......and I turned up a cache in the first spot I looked. Nice. Great views. Given it was dark I didn't want to "fully commit" to the view, but sat on the seat and admired the lights & cars moving below. Great spot. All the more eerie at night. Cache still safe, well & dry. Purdie Purdie...I left a pen for you Cheers.
Looks like this will be our last one for 2012. Good exercise on a hot morning. Easy find once we read the hints properly. TFTC
We did this one over a couple of days. The first two waypoints came without much trouble, but we struggled a bit with the cache location. Things were a bit overgrown around the cache location, but eventually we grabbed it. TNLNSL. thanks.
Some of the houses around this neck of the woods are looking a bit sad. A good multi cache, WP's quickly found and then the GZ too. A glorious day for a bit of a walk. Thanks
Yay finally ticked this one off the list, nice hide, tried to get to final from wrong side but figured it out! Tftc
We took the path up from another geocache giving us a nice good hike. Found cache easily. TFTC.
Found the WPs ages ago then put it at the bottom of the list because of what looked like a big walk to the final. Turns out it wasn't so big after all - or at least it might not have needed to be... I don't think I took the quickest route - got there in the end though... with a lot of panting. TFTC (481)
Great hunt on a beautiful day. Made for an interesting dog walk. TNLS. Cheers!
Found the waypoints about a week ago, but didn't have enough time to visit the final. A hot walk up from the bottom today. Cache found within 5 minutes. TFTC.
Three of us searched for more than half an hour but could not locate the final. The first part of the clue seemed virtually useless, and the second more specific part seemed great - but did not lead to a cache, nor even an obvious hole where a cache of this size could possibly be hidden. Disappointed that the first two were so easily found and the final so much more elusive.
Total bummer that after all the effort to find the co-ordinates we left empty handed. 3 pairs of eyes half an hour later grrr. Hopefully next time.
Came up the hill from Rocky Waterfall to check out the cache. The climb was more of an effort than I remembered and I was really pleased to get there. I have replaced the cache lid and it is all in good order now. Please be careful rehiding the cache so the lid does not break again. Rosie raced down the hill to find the only water hole to splash in. One dirty dog. Time to go home.
I think the fate predicted by haldane has come to pass. After all the up and down hill to get the final coordinates I had hoped for more. But it is a nice spot.
Nice stroll on a beautiful day. Cache in serious need of First Aid itself! If we had read the logs before heading off we could have provided necessary assistance. But alas, Kildare will just have to hang in there. They say time heals all wounds but I fear the cache will bleed out before too long.....
The wp search had me driving to and fro on those windy hill streets a bit, but managed to find the start of tracks and stairs eventually and got to the cache. The cache is very badly damaged from the weight of the rocks on top but I had no suitable container to swap with me. TFTC
Can't remember exact date, but we found this one in March '09. Didn't know about the steps, enjoyed the hunt. Cheers.
Great leg exercise for a tour of high & low contrast in this high end suburb. Views were great today, cache still in good dry condition considering the lack of lid. (#350)
#599 (2/6 on a SE Chch day). Pretty straighforward multi that stretched the legs a bit. Cache contents suprisingly dry given the state of the lid (most of which is missing). TFTC.
The second Hello Mrs cache today. Another previously unknown area. Great views at all way points.

This was an interesting one to do for me (a newbee to this game!)...thanks for the effort that went into all the thinking!

Found it easily enough. Two muggles looked at me funny on my way down (I wasn't really dressed for the weather & they spotted the GPSr in my hand). No sign of them at the final so easy to hunt. Box is badly smashed, but I had no replacement available.

Plastic container has smashed lid, contents still dry and intact because container upside down. Needs new box
Was out for a run placing a new cache and decided to cross-country to get this one. No medical stuff with me but left an All Black card (they, the ABs, seem to often be in need of medcical treatment). Took a bandaid.
That was a goodly work out. That reserve should look pretty good in a few years once the native takes over.

Well , learnt lots with this cache:
1. Read the previous comments, as we would have quickly guessed the final (It was a place we have been thinking as ideal for a cache - will have to invent another) and this would have save us for going down the long pathway.
2. Had a very informative talk to a Muggle on the stairs, must have Really wondered what we up to. Found all about Mary Gregg. She was an old-time local who used to be one of the original residents of the valley that once was, near the steps. In her latter years she lived very close to New World that you can see from steps. Also it thought that one of the developers of area was a relative of hers.
3. I am fitter than I thought I was, wont comment about him.
Was a great cache, TNLN as had no medical supplies with us.

Quite a warm today today for middle of winter. Found WP1 and WP2 no probs. Went down wrong street to find cache, but was only 300M away, spotted the structure, so did a short cross country hike accross to the cache. Daughter Sarah found cache within 30 seconds. They certainly do have great views up here, but some of those Private lanes are pretty steep ! TNLNSL
Didin't even know there was a reserve here. Thanks for showing us this place.

Great fun cache with interesting views, both scenic and into people's houses Well, they do have so much glass don't they? Some nice homes up there alright and they have a great outlook.
Many thanks for setting this up, very enjoyable.
Many thanks for setting this up, very enjoyable.
Like everyone else has said - great fun cache, with nice walks and views. At the final, I was silly enough to leave the PDA in the car, and after hunting for a while, was starting to get desparate. And also without the warnings in the description, was almost tempted to start looking off-track. But then remembered that Hello Mrs is a lot more sensible than that. Finally found it quite a way from where I zeroed - which was pretty much at the nearby structure. TNLN, Thanks.
Nice multi and everything was easy to find. I did Rocky Waterfall before this cache, but it would be easier the other way around.
Thanks!
Thanks!
You certainally did put a lot of work into this one what a great multi cache,,I had lots of fun trying to sort this one out, great stuff cheers and many thanks
913 Walked round here from Hornbrooks Rest in drizzle. Found the WP's easily enough. Didn't count the steps but there are lots of them. Wandered back up the hill and met the same muggle I had met a few minutes previously when I was going down and he was going up. Found the right way in to GZ and was led to the cache with no problems at all. TNLN then continued on down to Rocky Waterfall. TFTC Really enjoyed this one. DS8300
Wow - what fantastic views from waypoints 1 and 2.
Don't think I could get away from the windows if I lived up here (that would probably be cleaning them rather than looking out them). Loved this one.
TNLNSL - Great cache Hello Mrs.

First waypoint - a quick find thanks to the .loc file. Second waypoint, ended up in datum format hell, and gave up. Found the cache from local knowledge and from the spoilers in the log!

Enjoyed a sunny walk around the suburb and the reserve doing this cache. Twas a wee adventure getting to the cache but we found a path that is hardy used and waded through the grass to a proper track. + Terry Tuatara TB, - book.
This ended up being a nighttime cache hunt. Found the two waypoints and then tried to find the entrance, finally spotting a promising looking gravel path. I'm glad I didn't follow the GPS exactly as it was pointing about 40m from the platform. I had to use the hint to find the cache, and it was easily found. Not sure why it was 40m off - it was getting too cold to hang around No exchange made. Cheers Gav [949]
A very pleasant walk on a sunny afternoon, with great views over the Estuary and coastline. I parked beside WP1, and walked down to WP2, then back to the cul-de-sac, and down to the final cache. By the time I got back up to my car, it was definitely beer-oclock. No swaps, thanks and cheers from Grandalf(608)
As I was coming out this way to check on my Barnett cache I decided to check this cache out too. Well, what do you know? I was FTF! What a pleasant surprise! - Penny Hat TB. - FTF prize (hope I don't need to use real soon but is nice to have a new permanent addition to my caching equipment). + calculator. I rebagged the cache contents and left some silica gel. Thank you Hello Mrs.
I spent quite a while circling, deciding how to approach this and the other new nearby cache. Got to it about 1.30pm a couple of hours after Balded. + 2 TBs. Cheers Hello Mrs.
1207. This cache has been busy today. It was quite an adventure finding our way from one waypoint to the next and then to the final cache. We ended up going to the final cache from quite a different hill and trekking up and down various tracks that wind their way around the gully.
Thanks for the adventure.
