Found originally as part of rebel98 team, now created own account, re-logging as rustynz
See rebel98 log, took lots of pictures, had to walk back and forth on the pipe! This is what geocaching is all about. Sorry to see archived, but great memories. Thanks again for the hide.

What a suprise at the end of the road! Had to walk across, and soak in the beauty of the place. Just stunning. Thanks for bringing us here!
Again, sorry, wrong date. Went hiking through Tree Trunk Gorge today and made your lovely cache row! Thanks for putting so much effort in this, so others can enjoy! Really appreciate that. Coords sometimes went odd, but finally could find the caches, sometimes needed hint though. All caches are dry, well protected and in good condition. Lovely litte Gorge! Thanks again from a German cacher living in NZ.

Drove right up to GZ, GPS did not download descriptions and hints, but after a bit of scratching around the area, we found the cache and signed the log. TFTC
Almost fooled us! Thought it may have fallen into the deep dark hole but no, the cache IS still there!! Hopefully it is far enough away from that deep bottomless hole. Look near the green fern.
Searched around but could not find. Did not expect to see the pipeline but there it was a massive great structure hidden away in the valley. May come back another day and check it out.
Think this one has been "tidied up". Spent 30 minutes looking. Lots of obvious places but looks like the pamapas grass has been sprayed and tidied up too, so maybe the cache has gone. Interesting place to visit though.
Called here on a diversion while on the way to Rotorua today. It took me a few minutes to find this one - the GPSr was jumping around a bit and even though the likely hiding-area was obvious it wasn't until the third pass over the same spot that I found the well-hidden cache. Signed log, TFTC and for bringing me here.
Found after a short search. Place had an eerie feel to it this morning. TNLN SL TFTC
What an awesome structure, facinating how whis comes from the Ranipo Inlet and through all that rock

Good to get back down these side roads. Was last at some of these spots 30+years ago accessing tramping tracks, while construction was still in progress.

GPS was all over the place. But, a quick find anyway, before starting the tree trunk gorge track. Swapped a pet rock - a bee for a pack of balloons
What a cool area. Really enjoyed the big feature near cache, SL Left pack of balloons. TFTC
Found as part of my three week caching trip from Wellington to Auckland - # 449. Thanks.
What a cool pipe. Took a while to find this cache but got there in the end. I think the log book was a bit damp, but dried everything out, so it should be okay. Then again it may have been another cache as I have done a few today. TFTC.
This was an interesting cache to visit. Always lots to see and photograph. Thank goodness for digital.
The Freezer Mice strike again!!!
Back down this way for the weekend, so managed to find a bit of spare time to knock over a few cache's.
Took nothing, Left Travel Ingot GC, SL, TFTC.

I found the cache, then climbed the big pipe with grandad. Thanks for the cache.
It was very interesting to see the structure. I worked on the Manapouri Scheme 1965/66, interesting to compare. Thanks.
Walked over from Hercules. A quick find. Interesting little spring bubbling up in the middle of the vehicle track.
Stopped off for lunch here and had the place to ourselves. So many great tracks into the bush round here. Easy find. SL. TFTC.
Easy find, can be a drive to, if your car is quite high and you are good at reversing.

(174) Whoa... that sure is a big pipe! Nice easy find; saw some other people we suspected were cachers but were unable to confirm it.

Another interesting road end.. Lots of wind fall and snow fall trees across the road but made it in the end.. 7th today - Geocoin TFTC
New cache container, with log book only. The logbook is in an inner cannister to keep it dry.
Dropped in the Belted Kingfisher 021 Geocoin. Nice place for a Kingfisher beside the stream in the beech forest.

Haven't had a chance to get out here yet. Too much rain! The poor cache has probably drowned. We'll really try to get up here soon.
Cool bridge! GPS bounce had me much further uphill than was prudent but then spotted the hide.TNLNSL T4TC
Couple of inches of water in container, log book very soggy, and swaps going rusty, moldy etc. Beyond in field repair job sorry.
Thanks for the report, this cache seems to suffer from the wet, even though we've had hardly any rain! Will replace it as soon as we can with an improved version. If we remember right, the last entry...Anzac Day was a wet one!
Great interesting spot, found just with edvern for this one as the others had done it.

Found with the company of sp8sm8. A very photogenic spot, that I would not have visited otherwise, thanks.
It seems that the road leading to the cachesite will be slowly taken by nature... TFTC!
Decided no to drive through the big puddle, nice wee area, cache holding up ok. Slightly damp, looking at notes, dried it up, logbook fine.
Thanks for the fun

A fleeting visit on the way back from Rotorua. Almost missed it on first look... what's that drab piece of something?... that's it! A quick find really. No swaps. TFTC.
Now thats a big pipe!! Interesting that it has a bend in it too. Rather wet and muddy here today, but nevertheless a great hide. Enjoying the history tour. TFTC
This is likely to be a day of caching heavily influenced by the P&P duo and their cache hides. That's a good way to be going.
I found this one whilst Sweet P wandered about on top of the giant steel tube. Quite a place, well worth the time taken to get here. Not another soul to be found or heard. This is in itself a tremendous reward, not to mention finding the cache as well.
All in order - yes some dampness noted, but not disabling, cache found according to coords, directions and clues. Thanks. Rehidden as found.
TNLNSL - and found with team cacher Sweet P too.

Cache damp. While waiting for all the stuff to dry we walked the pipe thenwent down for a quick dip but found a dead possum so wadded upstream and had a quick splash. Out geocoin in keyring. TFTC

Quick find, that’s one big pipeline near the cache – didn’t have any time to explore further. Swapped coins
IN: Relaxing GC
OUT: Kingfisher GC
Noticed a speeding white 4x4 heading in along Tree Trunk Gorge road as we were leaving – wondered whether that was another cacher?

A lovely spot - that is a great big pipe!!! Easy find. Thanks and cheers from Grandalf(1003)
It seemed to be a day when I was finding caches by that intrepid duo - Punga and Paua and yes this was another one. Again a very damp camo bag and I tried to dry things out a little and left out of the leaf litter to let some air at it. Tnks you two - you provide the rest of us with plenty to look for!
Great remote spot.

3.00pm This was an easy find. Just as well it has a good raincoat for everything was very wet outside but nice and dry inside. Thank you David & Noeline
It's great that these structures are relatively discrete. Walked along the pipe.

Enjoying our tour of the very scenic valley.
Pushed the limits a little too far with my ground-hugging round town car to save a 100 m walk and managed to bottom out ... again. No damage this time though. Thanks

Dropped off Kiwi Geocoin, it should like this territory, plenty of real Kiwis around here!
Came here, expecting a bit of a walk. Parked the car, crossed the ford made by a tiny spring (yep, it's bubbling up) and hey! GZ!
Easy find, then checked out the high rise walkway.
Picked up Jhemps Last Chance TB, and left Butterfly's Cache a day geocoin to start its journey.
Thanks for the neat cache placement.

Nice little spot and well worth the excursion. Rather impressed with the engineering. Signed log, no swaps.
I better fess up... whilst here yesterday signing logs etc I dropped the Micro Micro GeoCoin I was carrying and didn't discover it's loss until doing logs last night.
So after a sleepless night We jumped on Xena again this morning and came back hoping it was still there.
Whew..!!! found it where it was dropped next to fallen tree we were sitting on.
So thought I should log it thru for its short stay...
It wasn't exactly in the cache but nearby.
It is now back in my cache bag with a promise to be looked after.

Aaaaah... back on Xena after lunch.. TechnoKitten and I had been out on manual bikes this morning legs demanded a rest so Xena was taken from garage for afternoon hunt.
Yaay...!!!
With technokitten on the quarterdeck we headed out and planted our new cache up Ketetahi Track.. then headed here.
Wow.. this must rate as one of my favourites.. I love this plateau and Thanks again P&P for finding these wonderful spots..
Took Xena pretty close and parked her at end of road.. walked in and found likely spot.. TK was still scrabbling up high sniffing the wrong hole as usual and XC came up with the goods.. hehe..
TK Signed log.. left calling cards..
I picked up Welsh coin to move on..

Out hunting with the inimitable XenaCommander all aboard the lovely Xena ... after a morning spent aboard mountain bikes hunting the more local caches hehehe XC rode 40k with minimal complaint.
My whiskers twitched at a nice dry spot but XC fished the goods out of its wet nest. Sad to report the cache is dripping inside, log book dry though. TN left cards SL
Another totally beautiful place. The views from the bridge are just magic. I had been here before but forgotten its magic.
Thanks P&P for yet another wonderful cache

Have to agree with GenCuster - NZ bush is fantastic, even in the pouring rain - which it was today. Thanks for bringing us to this lovely place.

Bobo has been down this road a few times but he's never seen the big pipe. Very Impressive. Also the stream is pretty cold in November and we wouldn't recommend the swim, no matter how inviting it looks.
Drove almost to gz! 15 point turn and we were sorted. Very interesting structure. Very cool. Thanks for bringing us here! - Zurich TB, + Nil
18:29 What a cool spot. NZ Bush just after rain... Nothing like it... GPS had me thinking down, not up, but quick find after used clue. Funny - had looked at the correct spot as I'd walked past to photograph the pipe, thinking 'That's where I'd put it'...
Noted J's Coin in the cache but already moved this recently from 10 km up the road (Up The Umukarikari) to Wanganui, from where it came back to the Central Plateau to a new cache (my next one to visit - Mick's Rest), then to here.
Thanks for this cache - & a nice drive in too. TNLNSL.
