Biked the track from 12 Mile to Bob's Cove today, picking up not just a FTF but an archived cache to boot!!! Great to see this one is still alive and kicking... in the relative sense. All round a great day caching in Queenstown.

Converting my previous note to a find now that I've caught up with logging:
"Great cache, if it had been there! Having come from the UK and made the special walk to this cache we were gutted to find nothing. We left a signed log sheet wrapped in bark, cover with sticks and topped with flat stones as a temporary cache until the CO can replace. Hope this will do as an interim."

[blue][size=1]On a holiday of a lifetime with Mr Crow (San Francisco, New Zealand and Sydney). After the incredible but tiring day yesterday we took it easy today. A beautiful drive from Queenstown to Glenorchy stopping for a few caches along the way. The main walks taken were the Glenorchy Lagoon Boardwalk and Bob's Cove Trail. Scenery was stunning and we both really wished we had more time to spend in the Queenstown area. I hope that we can return another time.

The walk to this look out point is absolutely fabulous. We visited on a wonderful hot sunny day and the vistas were incredible. I could have sat on the bench not far from GZ just gazing at the view for ages. Sadly the Crow was suffering again with vertigo and needed to get back to a lower level. The cache was, as reported, missing so we replaced with a temporary cache. Thank you for bringing us here.

My first find! Container needs attention as it is broken and contents soaked
Found it but the cache was relatively unhidden and definitely needs maintenance. Broken container and most contents soaked. Put log book in a new bag but it needs to be dried out or replaced. Beautiful spot though!!!
Cracked box and very wet contents. Put log in a bag but it needs to be dried out or replaced. May not have been in its normal hide spot--pretty much in plain sight under a bush at the top.
On a wonderful day we made a trip to Glenorchy. Very nice, lonely place. TFTC
It took time before we found it. Placed it more according to the hint. Strenuous walk up there. Tftc
Chur as. Found it to easily. It's was visible from just off the track. Have hidden better than previous finder
Nice climb to the cache and well worth it for the view. Look for the tree that has its home in Australia.

I got here around mid afternoon and having not eaten since breakfast (the drive with caches took longer than I though and I was headed to Fergburger for lunch) so on first reading the clue I was expecting to find 3 caches. A little sit down and an apple later all became clear. A good steady climb up to the cache but a great view once you get there. Easy find and back down the hill again. Once I got back to the car park I realised I could see the hill and the top of the tree in question TFTC
Our first day in New Zealand and decided to take some easy strolls that didn't require too much driving. This was a wonderful walk with great views. Fairly easy find once you realized it really wasn't in the water as the map appears. TFTC. Cats out Walking
Visited again to send our travel bug off on a new adventure. We left it here in 2010 and it got home to Norfolk in England in just 18 months. Its new mission is to return again to Norfolk after visiting lots of Scouting friends along the way.
This is a lovely place. TFTC.

Well, we wouldn't have come here with out the two caches to draw our attention. Moved off the hilltop (bit windy up there) and sat on a small clearing for lunch. Watched the TSS Earnslaw ply the lake to Walter Peak.
Thanks for the cache!

Today I was out to discover the Glenorchy area. At first I was a bit confused because on my map the cache seems to be in the water, but then I realized that the coords are correct, but my OSM map was not. So this cache initilaized my small contribution to a better OSM map of NZ.

This was a good terrain 3. I had been to this spot several years ago before I knew Geocaching existed. This is a great spot esp in the sun, perfect spot to drop off the TB Pocket full of Sunshine.
What an amazing spot on a calm morning with a flat and reflective lake. Can recall coming to this location years ago on a launch excursion from Queenstown to visit Bob's Cove and the big swing. Great tracks around to the kiln jetty and up the cache site. TFTC
What a lovely walk up to gz, and the amazing views!! Thanks for placing a cache here!!!
power walked to this one while the kids swam in the lake amazing views makes this a fav
So please the family and I popped into this spot. Just love finding new special places like this one while caching.
A spot, i would never go without searching for a cache! Thanks for showing it!

Great setting. Yes, about 70 minutes round trip at a leisurely pace. Nice views from the top despite a few raindrops and low cloud. #188. TFTC.
Well we left 12 mile delta too, but in our wee boat. A beautiful day to be on the lake. Makes a change from salt water boating.
It was starting to get a little dark when I set out on the MTB from the 12mile camp. I had taken a quick look at the GPS and had a bit of a guess where the cache was, so headed directly there. Once I got to the carpark I had another look to discover I had passed within 150m of it and it was over 600m away. It didnt worry me as it was a perfectly still night and with the last of the sunset over Bob's cove the trip was pretty cool.
I started heading back and stopped where the track became unridble and continued on foot. That is where I discovered there was a little more to this cache than met the eye, however, a quick jog up to the top soon produced the goods.
The view from the top was fascnating in the moonlight and I sat there for a while before heading back to 12 mile. the round trip took around 70 min.
Cheers and thanks for a great cache,
S.t.

Nice short walk on our way from Queenstown to Kinloch. The fresh snow on the surrounding mountains made the view even better than it already is. TFTC!
On our ride back from Glenorchy we stopped there to go for another little walk at the Lake Wakatipu and to that cache. We enjoyed this little walk and of course the beautiful view you have from the cache location.
The cache itself was easy to find, we only had to follow the cacher’s made path. So we found the cache at once at 3.25 p.m.
Thanks a lot for the cache.

After doing "Basket of Dreams" first thing this morning, it was a quick drive to the parking spot for another brisk walk to GZ. Very pretty spot and very few people about. A bit overcast but definitely warmed up with the climb. Lovely crystal clear blue waters in the Bay.
Left a TB with an appropriate name (Rob's Yomping Boot). We've been sharing a few adventures, and climbed a few hills and seen a few views. Time for someone else to take the Hiking Boot on a trip or two.

First day of our one week vacation in the Queenstown/Wanaka area. What a great weather and wonderful area to walk around - despite the cold. Found the cache without problems.

#1,127: Hi Bob!
My GeoSpouse and I took a nice late-afternoon walk on this nice loop track today. First time we headed out this way from Queenstown, as we usually head either South or East. A few others out on the track. Cache is in fine shape. We met a pair of hiking muggles at the peak after finishing up our caching business. Turns out they were the ones who put the bench up here, and DoC put their marker on it, so it looks like it will stay. On the hike down, they asked how we heard about this place, and so I went into the whole spiel about geocaching, and they had not heard of it, but were intrigued. New converts perhaps? Dropped off a TB I picked up about a week ago that wanted to be near rivers. A lake seems like the next best place. Happy Trails!

Unfortunately we were on the way to the airport so couldn't hang around and enjoy the view.
After 3 days tramping there was still enough time till the sunset so i ran to this one. Great view of the lake. In/out Tb. Tftc.
Nice climb to this viewpoint!
Easy cache, our second in NZ!!
TFTC!!
We left a trackable (GS4141) but couldn't log it because it was already taken before we logged our visit.

Macpak walked to this site from 12 mile delta and afterwards cooled off by jumping into the lake.
A beautiful day and a great walk from 12 mile with macpak and ajbenn. Found fossils and lime kilns along the way. The grand children had a great time jumping off the jetty at Bob's Cove - a good way to cool off after the climb.
The weather was cold, and rain threatening. But TaurusSix and I set out and, after much puffing, found the cache. Very nice views of the lake from here.
It was well worth walking here from the nearby DOC-camp. It's always nice when there's a cache waiting for you, end even better if you find it easily. The hint was perfect. The tree ist really beautiful.

The hider was soo correct. At the carpark the gps had us only 740m away but when we finally reached GZ we had walked 2km. So our 10000step target for the day was going to be achieved by just doing this cache. What a lovely walk on a very well maintained track with lake views all the way and a final view that makes it all worth while.

Parked up at 12 Mile & biked around with the junior cachers on a beautiful day. A little more challenging than we anticipated but the cache at the end was well worth the effort. No TB there but then it looks like there was another cacher here a couple of days ago. . TFTC
my first cache! a very fun and windy morning.... celebrated our finding with victory muffins
We followed the GPS (literally) and got wet; battled stormy weather, wind and rain. Enjoyed celebration muffins at GZ, took a badge and left a geocoin.
Part way through our New Zealand South Island Geocaching adventure. With my good mate and caching buddy, Marty (quasar3671). Our entire track was from Christchurch to Queenstown then on to Dunedin and finally back to Christchurch. 220 Caches in all in 7 nights/8 days.
This was another thigh master. Did the walk and the climb pretty quickly, got to the top and there were three elder gentlemen up the top. Great to see, cause it is a pretty good walk. Told them a bit about caching (not giving away the hide location of course) and logged our find. Took a few shots as well.
Thanks for another awesome walk.

Found while on a trip from Australia to Queenstown for a work conference with my mate Marshy (Blacklegend17) who came along for the ride. One of 220 finds for the 8 days we were on the South Island. Drove out from Queenstown for a couple of day time caches for a change. It was a pretty decent trek up to GZ where we found three older locals enjoying some lunch. Fit old buggers. TFTC.
Found it... beautiful track, 1.5hrs from car and back to car, not in any hurry. Took out a plastic airplane, left a 'Nuclear Free NZ' badge.

Visited Central Otago to take part in NZ Orienteering Champs, ride the Rail Trail and enjoy this beautiful area including many sites around Queenstown. We (Roel, Di and Nigel) enjoyed the trip with beautiful weather (some morning frosts!) Touring around with the Jojoes, this called for a great little walk before we started a bike ride around Ben Lomond. Thanks a lot.

A nice easy find. despite the sun being behind clouds it was still a warm day so we just had to take the opportunity to jump off the pontoon and take a quick but chilly swim! swapped GC for TB. TFTC
What a lovely spot. Found the cache with no problem. Left 1st Hoveton and Wroxham Sea Scouts Scarf with associated travel bug.
Walked the walk, then swam the (brief, frigid) swim in Bob's Cove. Beautiful day. Took TB. TFTC
Great cache, great view just a shame it started raining when I got to top. Found the cache when moving away from muggles. Took Travel Bug left monster. Wonder where this bug will pop up next. TFTC
cool cache! we've walked up the hill many a time and never new it was there till we started caching now we have an incentive for the kids to walk up there much faster! bob's cove always been cool and the perfect skimming cove! next finder must skim there too we exchanged a few trinkets and dropped off a travel bug to continue it's journey as we admired the view of the mountains around.
