It is June long weekend and dalerious and I normally catch up with our friends and book accommodation for a golfing/muggle, (our friends are the muggles, or once a year cachers) geocaching trip away. This year was different. The leader of the organising of our time away decided to do something different, and booked a cruise for his family. So that left dalerious and I to plan our own entertainment. Friday was still work for us, but we did enjoy a dinner with Cybergran V and dalerious's Uncle John, before he headed for Coffs Harbour to a new life.Saturday involved mowing lawns and a few odd jobs. Then it was off to do some local caches, before heading home to relax and watch a DVD.Now to planning what was going to happen for Sunday. A trip to Mount Samaria looked like the go, and we were looking forward to it as neither dalerious nor I have been there before, and there were some awesome caches there for us to find. The road up to the mountain from Swanpool was quite good. This one was the start of the adventure. A perfect spot to place a cache. The cache was found in good condition, and there was an added bonus of a pathtag provided by troyfindz.Thank you Rallywrxwagon for bringing us to this wonderful place.

On our way to Bonnie Doon via Samaria, this was the first cache that crossed our path. Amazing views and a nice easy find after our GPS stopped pointing the opposite direction. Eventually, our geo-sense kicked in the and the cache was retrieved. Probably the best park and grab I've ever found. TFTC Clever Monkey.

This one comes with a weird story. Firstly was heading to Melbourne for a 3rd Birthday and decided this would be a good detour for a picnic and stop for lunch in the little Kia Rio. Well it made it this far so we stopped in for cache one and a snack. It was so peaceful and we started heading down to the cache.
Just then we heard voices from up near the road. I was in the middle of nowhere with my daughters and then we hear voices. It was a little off putting to say the least. Anyway after signing and concealing we headed back up to the geovehicle and saw two motorbike riders heading up the road away from us. They must have been so quiet when we turned up or we were just so noisy but their bikes were literally 20m from our car and just over a rise we didn't see them. Nearly a muggling in the middle of nowhere as they were the only people we saw all day.

After 100ml of rain the terrain was a bit slippery but beautiful view and good find. Hidden back in camouflage. TFTC

20-Nov-17
I had to divert to Albury before heading back to Melbourne, so I thought I would make the most of it. After bush camping for the night I made my way to this cache in the early morning.
A spectacular sunrise and a view of the valley below was my reward..

A visit to my mum's included a day of caching and driving around the Strathbogie Ranges in weather that ranged from bright sun, to rain, hail sleet and actual real snow.

An awesome day to be out and about in the Hilux. After an interesting drive across the range, through mud, sleet and snow, I visited Swanpool and checked out the Bald Archy exhibition in the memorial hall, which was brilliant. Filled up the ute in Swanpool and headed up into Mt Samaria Park, where I'd never been before.

I enjoyed the scenic drive and on arrival, took in the great view. A quick scramble soon had me at GZ, where an easy find ensued. Back into the car and on my way.

Thanks for the cache CleverMonkey.

Nice view and nice stumble down and scramble up. Weekend with the PLOBS who were facinated by what i was looking for. May now have new Cachers. TFTC

#607 - 2.20pm
Venturing up Mt Samaria with ahomburg. He had lunch in the car while I ventured out on to the hillside. A little bit of mountain goating was done and the cache was duly found.
Thanks Clever Monkey for bringing me to this great location with views over the valley. It is always very cool finding caches over 10 years old and this one is in fabulous condition. A pleasure to find.

It's fun to cache with a friend,
You can hike, ascend and descend;
Homburg, Jacko and Pacman
with Bentley had a gameplan,
To explore Eildon in one great weekend!

First visit to the Samaria NP, and we enjoyed the short walk to the rocky GZ.
Thanks from Pacman for this placement.

17-Dec-16
Out for a weekend getaway with Pacman, Ahomburg, myself and Geomutt Bentley.

A first for all three of us here in Samaria. The wind was really getting a chill about it.

We stopped to take in the views and then made the descent for a nice big old ammo can.

Magic.

Find #8142**

Out on a massive weekend of adventure plus with jacko83 and ThePacman. Our main area of caching this weekend was Lake Eildon and surrounding areas. The weather turned out to be fantastic and we all had a great time caching with good mates.

This turned out to be the last cache of the night as the nearby Ice and Fire cache turned out to be a DNF.

A quick and easy find at GZ, took a nice pic of the slowly setting sun.

**Thanks to Rallywrxwagon for the cache. TNLN. Smile**

This was the biggest cache we have found (we are rookies) and it was fun to find. I had to laugh when I first saw the hiders username too.

07-Nov-15
Out for a drive in Gregs brand new 4x4 ford ranger today and we thought we'd go exploring these hills.

The final quick stop on our way home, this was a great finish to our day. A nice big ammo can for our troubles as well! Great view at GZ!

Over the Easter break Team PacketStorm took a trip up central Victoria for a few days.
Some of these places we had visited before in our travels but never stopped to grab the caches.
We had enough time to take a wander through many of these lovely areas and enjoy the scenery
Thanks to all the Cache Owners for placing the caches.

Couldn't sign the log as there's no pen. Also the container is cracked and had water in it. I tipped it all out and tried to place it back with the cracks in the low side so any water would drain out.

Interesting - this cache hasn't been found for ages despite being right next to a 2WD track and a very easy hide. Nice views top it off.

In the area to grab SAMARIA cache and picked this up on the way out.
Great little spot, magic view out over Lake Nillicootie.
I found it on this wintery day with the sun shining over the lake with black clouds over all the surrounding hills making a superb Kodak moment.
Thanks Rallywrxswagon for the moment.

What a spectacular sunset view! Thanks very much for bringing me up here. TFTC!

28-Apr-12
Have driven and riden past this spot numerous times over the years, but that view is even more glorious with a cache in hand. As a note, the bottom of the cache has a crack in it, contents dry however. TNLN TFTC.

29-Apr-11
We had a deadline to be back in time to watch the royal wedding. I managed to convince TaurusSix to try a possible drive by only a few kms away. It was closer to the road than I expected, but it took longer to find than I expected to find.

21-Apr-11
Had an enjoyable drive from the south of Mt Samaria State park to the northern point at Samaria Well - en route had pleasure of finding this driveby cache at a good lookout point of road - cant believe that his has not been found in 6mths!!! Cachers take note that I drove my Commodore sedan both ways on this road and if you take it easy there is no worries - you dont need a four wheel drive and it is a really nice drive too. Cache is all dry Rallywrxwagon - TFTC TNLN Regards Sarian

Nice drive up to Gz. A great view over a full Lake Nillahcootie, never seen it full before. Cache took a few minutes to locate as we went back and forth and up and down the slope looking, the Gps seemed to be bouncing all over the place.

TNLN, Cheers.

24-Oct-10
This was one of a series of caches we attempted as part of a 4wd'ing/caching weekend with a few other members of AWGC (Albury Wodonga Geocaching) Another great outlook, although it was an interesting clamber down to the cache - wish I had those mountain goat skills! Found the cache before too long. Thanks!

Wow, what a view and such a beautiful place. Ah, the serenity. T: tb, L: toy. TFTC and for bringing me here.

22-Aug-10
Hmm. Cryptic clues can be a bit more cryptic when east is west and west is east! I could have sworn the sun rises in the east, sets in the west and that the Midland Hwy is to the west of Samaria. The would mean the cache is 'where' from the gum tree? Doesn't matter! At least we (Mrs Biggles & I) found the cache and enjoyed the view back over Lake Nillahcootie which finally looks like a lake after 12 dry years of drought.
Oh, and I dropped off a geocoin which needs to find its way towards NSW so the owner can retrieve it in 2012.

22-Aug-10
Lovely day for a walk and to take in a couple of caches, not too difficult to find.

22-Aug-10
Just dipping "Smokey Bear" geocoin into the cache from which I grabbed it so its tracking history is updated and aligned. (It's last pick-up/drop-off wasn't logged.)

18-Jun-10
Found with the Geohound (Milo) in the fog and misty rain, and dodging fallen trees on the road in!
Couldn't see Lake Nilacootie but I knew it was there somewhere.
Took Cow Playing Cards
Left Smoky Bear Geocoin and Piglet

Found at 2.55pm. Great views despite the threat of rain. It was very windy at the top. TNLN. TFTC Rallywrxwagon. We'll be back to explore this area some more.

13-Feb-10
A Rally cache is a rarity for me these days. I ran out of daylight to attempt the two big climbs up here today so I had to make do with the great views from this point. I took a photo of the same mountain in the distance from Golden Peak earlier in the day, it puts into perspective how far I'd driven! Cache is still in great condition.

Cheers Rally, how about putting some more out? Smile

Found itBig Grin! - Find number 11 of 17 on our Victorian High Country Holiday. We headed up this way on a day trip to enjoy the history and scenery of the area. I would have driver straight past if not for the cache so thanks for a reason to stop and take in the view.

A nice easy find with my granddad(the red devils) Awsome view from up there:) We had to hurry because the rain was closing in but still an awsome cache to do:) took collectable left cant remember what i left but it was of equal value sorry i forgot because when i tried to log my find an error came up so i had to wait three days before it worked sorry.

09-Dec-08
Very good cache site, the view was great..even with some ordinary weather closing in...which incidentally curtailed our progress on the other caches in this area, not to worry, some info was gathered, and we will return for the others another time.
TNLNSL..Thanks for the cache here.

Found at 3.40pm GAFF1 in the company of The Grovers. We set up camp at Buttercup Creek in the morning and after showing The Grovers the Kelly Tree and other interesting Kelly locations, we looked for the nearest caches to do. The air was mild and clear, so what else but to go up a mountain. The cache was found in a great spot with commanding views across the valley - loved it. Thanks Rally - but where have you been lately?

This is the second time to the park but this time it was a lot greener. Stickler and I had decided to walk the timber tramway from the old kilns to the breaking station and return via rocky noll.

So on the way in it was a good time to pick up this cache.

This park is well worth a visit.

Dropped off Traveling Bike Dog geocoin and took the Lighthouse TB

Found at 3.05pm.
On a hot steamy day a trip up a mountain was very refreshing,
A cool breeze and great views.
The cache was found easily, and then it was onto the kilns for a drink and nibble.
We left Maine Lighthouse TB and took the Geocoin and TB
Thanks

Found by Roma and Max.
Another very winding road for the Mazda to negotiate and on arrival more magnificent views for us to appreciate.
We were fortunate to make an easy find here and exchanged a Mondo Figurine for one of our Original Smiley Face Suction Cups. This was one of around 100 we left at various caches when we first started geo searching, and the second we found on this trip.
Thanks Rallywrxwagon.
Romax.

Took geocoin, left pack of vegemite playing cards.

Found on 02/10/06 @ 1832 AEST. When I noticed that this cache had been 'reborn' in a new location I just had to take a post-work drive to view the sunset from the west slope of Mt Samaria for my 47th FTF WOO-HOO Cool !!

The RhinoMobile made it up sans problems but had me wondering how I managed to coax the (now retired) GeoSAAB up here so many times Red Face

In the fading twilight, the well concealed cache was revealed Smile
