1355 for the tribeChilly day in Bowral, but the sun was shining, so we rugged up and Geocached! We enjoyed some history, some great bushwalking, and some serene spots. We started out here at the Geofun AL, which was a lovely walk around the small lake, and extended the loop to include Katoomba lookout, the Crag, the Large Swag cache and the AL bonus. All up a 4.5km walk with 180m of elevation gain, which was thoroughly enjoyed. Great views from this spot. After checking a slightly scary spot the cache was found in great condition in a less scary spot with plenty of room in the log. Thanks for placing and maintaining this one!
Out on a run doing some sly caching while my wife relaxes at the Caravan park.
As I approached this one, I thought this is the type of GZ I really like, But so many potential hiding spots and levels, it could take a while?
Followed the goat track along the cliff face (wouldn't have attempted this in the wet at a young 59!)
Was lucky and spotted it quickly, now to get back down safely
A Fav for the fun in getting to it
Thanks for maintaining the cache

This one has been on the bucket list for some time now, however, as I am frequently caching with kids I have put it off. Today I was able to rope another big person to come with me and watch the geokid whilst I collected the cache.
The last time I was up this way the road was terrible, so we parked all the way down the bottom and marched all the way to the parking area... along the way we discovered that the road has since been fixed and there is no longer a giant crater. Once in the parking area, we found the path towards the cache and before long found the marker we were looking for.
My son conceded that I was collecting this one and sat down on a nearby rock to watch. I made my way down to the cache, facing my fears as I went... it's not so much about the height, it's the fear of falling that gets me and it doesn't need to be very high for that to kick in. Anyway, I made it to the cache, retrieved it, signed the log and then replaced everything as it was found.
I then made my way back up to my son to find a sweet reward waiting for me.
TFTC and the adventure.

Day 2/4 of our Mittagong/Goulburn Trip.
Today we decided to cache around Mittagong, grabbing some good DTs and some other caches along the way. We had a great time doing some awesome caches in this area.
What a great spot! After a bit of scrambling around we spotted the cache and retrieved it easily. All in good condition.

After a couple of past very quick visits to this area, we’ve come back to spend a day caching around. We’re aiming at better DTs this time, plus whatever else pops up in front of us…
After a cold start, a great day has turned out. After lunch now and we’re up Mt Alexandra….
That was a fun climb…. A nice old hide too.

The last find of our morning bushwalk before the Sting concert. After approaching from below, I put down my pack and extra bits so that they weren’t flopping around and to keep them from rolling down the cliff. Unfortunately, I forgot the sunglasses on my head. They are now half way between the GZ and the lower trail. TFTH
Wow, what a great view.
I originally took the lower level and then had to double back to the higher path and made my way to GZ, found what I thought my be the hiding place, but there was only a lizard. Lucky I looked before I reached in.
Looked around and saw a likely path and quickly had cache in hand.

Nice crag. Easy find. OCW a bunch of geobuddies after the IGD Event in Mittagong. TFTC rustymac
After attending the nearby IGD events, a few of us made plans to head over here to grab a few caches. Sometimes after reading the description and logs, you will build a certain impression of what the terrain and area around GZ will be like. I had expected that this might a bit scary, but in fact it really isn't too bad at all. As I said to PDG, "there are ledges and then there are LEDGES". Initially we had approached from below but felt we needed to double back and take the path that led to the top. Whilst we were faffing around there, PDG had scrambled up from below and pulled it from it's hiding spot. A great place to visit, thanks for bringing us here!
OCW PelDroedGwin, Brewmaker, EverestHigh, Meritonnn and weirdobiker + James.
What better way to celebrate IGD than to get out on some bush tracks with Geofriends old and new?
This one was the first bushcache of the day, some went high, others went low. It was PDG that got to the cache first. A fun location.

Definitely was a significant hike for this cache. Started off at the bottom but knew it wasn’t right.
We climbed up to the top and then went a bit further down then soon had CIH. I was shaking at the edge signing the log, you can tell someone’s afraid of heights.
Quickly plopped the Trackable in the container and once I popped my head up there was a weird looking spider. “Nope I’m out!” I said in fear.
Now I’m in the car and happy I achieved such a great cache.

Found It!
After looking from the bottom and the top, there was only one place it could be so I carefully climbed down and soon had the cache in hand. Great spot for a cache!

This cache is 16 years old and one of the more elderly caches in the Southern Highlands.
I went out to this cache today and replaced the cache container and the log... sadly I had to get rid of the old log as the cache was full of nasty water and everything was completely waterlogged and could not be salvaged.
All good to go for another 20 years

Out caching with mrwhiskers76 today. We made our way to the cache with a bit of searching we made the find. The container and log are both very water logged. We somehow how got our names signed. And replaced as found. Thank you
We drove pretty much right to the cache site! After a short walk and a bit of searching we located the cache safe and sound.
The cache contents were very wet but we managed to get our names in the logbook.
Some great views up here!
Thank you for the cache!

Found on a walk out and about Mittagong, 60 Foot Falls, Alexandra Lookout and others. TFTC
Out for a morning walk with the geowife, but discovered that there actually was no road to said lookout. So before trudging up there in the heat, decided to pick this one up first. Unfortunately, I could not see the relevance of the hint from the way I approached it. A bit of a search, a bit of a scramble to eventually have CIH. Unfortunately, my own would not write on the log, although you can see the impression if you look close, but also took a photo of the log if required.

Nice clues made for simple but interesting find........container intact but contents becoming damp
Log a little damp though still ok........replaced container upside down as this seems like it may give better protection from wet weather, hopefully.
My third find, ever.........excellent location. Found with Moisty Potato, my problem child, also an amateur.
Great fun.....Cheers.

Out on a Mittagong and environs GOM expedition to celebrate 5000 finds, and this was it.
A fabulous day out with the full original crew.
We only ended up here as a result of a translation error; we were supposed to be heading The Crags, not the Crag. Made a quick find and were off to our true destination.

Accidentally found ourselves here when I thought I was navigating to one of "The Crags". Still, a worthwhile search and find just the same. Thanks rustymac.
Out and about with Happy Uke again today. Pheww what a hike. A great walk anyway regardless of all the huffing and puffing. Great views from the top.
Thanks!

After attending the Gong Mega yesterday, I stayed overnight at a friends house in Moss vale. Having already collected the nearby 2 Dogs cache as well as Katoomba lookout, it would be a shame to skip the one so close to my parked car. Initially approached from the wrong level and the rocks were too slippery to ascend, so I made my way around for much easier access from above. Another nice spot for a cache

I left it up to the much more sure footed geopartner to retrieve! Log a bit soggy and container smells of moisture. Nice place. TFTC
**This Cache:**
A 2006 cache seemed like a good one to find, and looked pretty easy to access thanks to the awesome road that takes you up that nasty hill!
Parked at the top and a very short walk to GZ, less than 100m I believe? I wonder if the road used to be shorter? It was a lot closer than 250m like the description says!
Started searching at one level but came up empty, so changed my elevation and soon found the cache in a spot that fit the warning and description better! Thanks

**The Day:**
Day 2 of an extended weekend caching trip, and a family member's 50th up in Sydney!
Started off a bit later today given that I was already at my destination and had a good rest the night before. Today consisted off cleaning up the remaining puzzles, highly favourited caches and golden oldies in the area. As well as all the other traditional caches I came across along the way! Another successful day of caching, with 51 cache finds all up!
Thanks to all the CO's! See individual log about each cache above ^^

As I have no head for standing on the (l)edge, sent muggle hubby in for the retrieve. After a bit of a poke around the cache was soon in hand, while I stood up top and admired the view. Interesting rock formations up here. We waved to a couple of climbers walking below. Left a WoW dwarf figurine. Wouldn't have known about the rocky crag and the outstanding views if not for your cache, so deserving of a favourite from me. TFTC rustymac.
We attacked this one from 3 different points. With Rustynail666 & Rain man we soon had cache in hand.. TFTC and the view was worth it!!

My friends golf struggled to get up the hill but once we got up there we parked and climbed up to make this find. Being very dull my friend brought high heals so she struggled to get up the hill

As we had helped this old time CO and old time cache with a lovely replacement here in the past, it is now sad to learn from recent finders that the well stocked ammo can is another victim of the "ammo can thief".
All that remained of this cache is log books under a rock. We have replaced the container again but this time with a medium sistema.
Good to find again.

Had dismissed attempting this one based on the terrain in the time I had during a recent run to the Highlands but since then had a chat with a friend who had discovered the nearby carpark only after ascending the mountain from a much more difficult approach worthy of the rating. While I had an easier stroll less than 70m from the car, I soon realised however the terrain stars related to the final 7m (possibly worthy of an even higher rating and not one I agree would appear as a 1.5 or 2 in an open park!). Being quite an isolated area (though was passed by two very cute rock climbers on their way back to their car), I was questioning whether to pursue this one however cautiously tried from two different elevations were I hoped it should be easy to at least spot a regular sized container and reassess the climb. With thoughts of the cacher recently killed falling down a similar rock face in Adelaide, I was just about to give up or call a PAF when I just spotted a tatty ziplock bag under a rock I was precariously crouched beside. Certainly not currently a regular sized cache but glad to tick it off the list.
I parked at the bottom and bashed up the hill towards GZ,once I made it to the top I find cars in a carpark...DOH,well I did that the hard way hahahaha.
Didnt take long to find what remains of the hide

My first time climbing here and we had a great day. Also a cache too. This is perfect. Not too hard to find just we started off a bit lower
ACTchiland I were staying in Mittagong to go to the Ghostof Unknown Events on Sunday and had to grab some cahes while here. We parked the car and headed up the track...only to find after lots of puffing and pantining a road and car park... mmmm. at least I got my steps up and ACTchil found cache and sign log book and back down the track to the car. tftc rustymac
Went on an afternoon postwork geowalk with usual geopals Halcyon123 and HappyUke, as well as newbies TheSchrodeses and DisneySurprise and first timer AnneS. Even though I felt somewhat under the weather, I had a lovely wander, and efveryone nicely put up with my extra whineyness. Lots of chat and laughter made up for any discomfort
Our last find for the avo, after a fruitless hunt at the lookout. Thought it'd be a nice quick one, it involved a bit of backtracking and climbing (of course!). HappyUke and DisneySurprise were the bravest of us, doing the majority of the clambering for us. TFTC!

Found with schrodeses, Nacki22, happyuke and Disney surprise on a post work geo excursion. A hairy climb but worth it. Left a trackable. Tftc.
This was a good find with the group, HappyUke, Nacki22, Halcyon123, Theschrodrses, good view and nice climb on the rocks
Well an afternoon foray was organised by the school geogang (my caching buddies Nacki22 & Halcyon123 and some newbies DisneySurprise, The Schrodeses and AnneS.), to grab a few at the back of Mittagong, before it gets too hot and the snakes come out to play. After showing them the ropes on a couple in town we took them bush...talk about a baptism by fire...we had muggles, technical issues, scratchy plants, interesting map reading, a missing log and a snake sighting! But we also had fun, laughter, great conversations and wonderful company...Hey thats what geocaching is all about!
This was my second and last for the arvo. We had just been up to the Katoomba Lookout and came up empty after a very thorough search, though this is where DisneySurprise found the snake! Anyway we were running out of time (Halcyon123 had to be back to pick up her kids). So with 60m on GPS's we thought it would be a quick find. Down the track we went...50, 40, 30, 40...what...STOP...we are going away from it! DisneySurprise and Nacki22 bushbashed over to the rockwall...I think it is on top. So we backtracked and went along the top of the rocky outcrop, until we got to the spot we saw from below. DisneySurprise and I clambered down and bingo there's the cache. Then we looked and realised it is terrain 3 1/2...doh. Thanks for the adventure.

Out caching with a friend for her first time. We decided to head up the lookout to give the dog some exercise. Parked up and headed over to find this one. What a great area, loved the rock scrambling, cache soon spotted and retrieved, love finding these.

Great cache in a great location, found and hidden caches with far worse locations, terrain rating is fine, as always everyone needs to take care when caching, thanks for the cache, get a fav point for me, this is what caching is all about!!
Found with ZQX. ZQX made the find, I was too scared to go near the edge, but eventually mustered enough confidence to go and have a look. A cool cache and an awesome location. The view was although pretty good. TFTC rustymac!
Found with Miskit on a sunny winter day. The GPSr was swing all over the place for some reason, so I let geosenses take over and soon had CIH. After signing the log and putting the cache back in its location, we took some time to explore the area and the enjoy the views. This is as far north as we got on our Southern Highlands excursion. Great location and a lovely day to be out and about. Thanks rustymac.
Yay!!! Found it on my second attempt and this time, the log was definaely in place however, the 2 listed TB's were no where to be seen I really wish people would take the time to update these as my outing today was aimed at caches that had TB's listed as being present but not one of them did
Anyway..... "The Osbournes" were "home" so I left them to be visited by another cacher. Thanks ATCF's and your binary friend for the upkeep on the cache - shame you can't adopt it~!

The old logbook was in a pretty bad way as was seen from previous log photos from cachers. However it has been thoroughly dried and dusted off as much as humanly possible and sealed in a plastic bag, then dropped into the new cache container as a keepsake of past cachers.
Also dropped off Scaw's sTeamTraen Microcoin for the next finder to continue it's travels
