Spring Victorian IncursionDay One: Gumeracha to KanivaWeather: showers, rainbows and gales force winds. I made my entrance through the gate in the photo which is to the north of the point on the highway closest to the cache. Im not sure if thats the best route, but it worked for me; the bush inside the fence is very open. Im sure theyve had rain down this way over the last few months, but no surface water was seen. I did find a cache though. Thanks for this hide Beaker. 18th birthday coming up.
Travelling with iluvtrekking from our home state WA. After overnighting in Keith (great caravan park) we headed to Naracoorte collecting finds along the route. Thanks Beaker
Travelling with richlink as part of our Annual Caravan Geocaching Trip.We are on the move, Keith to Narracoorte. using geocaching as our guide. TFTC along our route.
After over seven weeks on the road, I'm back home and finally catching up on all my logging.Caching in South Australia was fantastic, so many good hides to find, and we found ourselves zigzagging all over the place doing lots of geoart but of course ran out of time to get everything done on our to-do list. The majority of caches we found were in great condition and well maintained, which is a credit to all the CO's who placed them, so thank you.Our logs were mostly signed as 5 for QLD to save room on the log sheets, and no doubt, we'll be back again in the future
Travelling today to Mt Gambier. Calling into Murray Bridge to pick up a Favourite cache then on to Millicent and through to Mt Gambier.Caching with and signing as 5 for QLD. RoddyC hatzofff imbunda snickersallan and grannysmith.TFTCache Beaker

**Today:**On an epic roadtrip with DSD for the SA Leap Day mega! We woke up in Millicent this morning with a destination of Murray Bridge, via my first ever event in SA at Tailem Bend Motorsport Park, which is up there with the best venues I have attended an event in! The SFE Challenges near Millicent were the first target, before we cherry-picked our way via high DTs and county chasing! Thanks to all COs for an awesome day!**This Cache**Took a long & quiet backroad from Kingston SE to get to this cache, specifically for the new county as we didnt want to leave a gap in the SE corner of SA! This old cache looked like a great one to grab & stretch the legs. Great parking and we were soon through the fence and on our way to GZ! Quick find upon arrival, signed the log and continued our way up the highway! TFTC
Continuing on my South Australian adventure. I stopped by this cache. A quick find was made and the log signed. With everything returned as found, I turned to head back and to the geomobile and spotted an echidna out for a morning stroll. This is my second sighting in less than two weeks. So exciting! TFTC
Great waterhole. Expecting one with more beer. Alot of walking around in circles. TFTC Beaker.

Find #5208. Found @ 14:15 with The Good Lady Wife, skirrel and j-bean.
On a holiday getaway multi-day road trip with the family, traveling from Melbourne to Adelaide via Renmark and back to Melbourne. Today's adventure is from Adelaide to Mount Gambier.
A quick stop by the side of the road and j-bean and I ventured forth to GZ. I'm not sure if we went the right way because we encountered a fence. There was no problem in getting over it, but fencing often means don't go in there.
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache Beaker.

We are finally able to travel interstate without heaps of loops to jump through. We thought we would take it easy and have a look around South Australia and grab a few more LGA's while we were here.
We had camped up at Willalooka and I run down here for my morning run, luckily the rain held off.Once near GZ I spotted the gate and went in. It was a quick find but I didn't spot the water hole but then I didn't see and legless creatures either. I did disturb a kangaroo..
This was find number 1 for the day.

South East trip with the geo-pup. Day 12, Coonawarra to Willalooka.
What an unusual area, no signage, no paths and no waterhole. But we did find a gate in, plenty of wombat holes and a cache, so all is good. Tricky place to park with a caravan on tho

Moving on with my 7 days SA / VIC trip. Day 2 had me travelling from Portland, VIC to Tanunda, SA. I visited a lot of new places and it was a long day but I loved it.
I had a good look around for snakes but all I saw were a few marsupials. Still kind of exciting for a kiwi.
A quick find of the cache. Thanks.

Found this one and a few others on the drive back to Adelaide from Dunkeld today.
A nice short break and walk was required to find this one.
Thanks to -Beaker- for putting out this cache for me to find.

Having come down to Naracoorte to explore the caves and do some caching, today was the day to finally drive home; of course, though, I had to find a few caches along the way. Another cache that I did not find on my way to Naracoorte, it was one that I deliberately left for my trip home. I parked in the appropriate spot and make the walk to gz, where I began my search. There were plenty of potential spots for this cache, and after searching a few holes I finally found the cache. Log was signed, cache replaced, and I was on my way.

Should have headed North East to the South East of Queen's Landing this weekend, but a while ago had a premonition... which came true so had booked the South East of SA instead
Still plenty to find down here, and good weather for it too.
A nice little spot, a bit of shade, no water to speak of in the hole, and potentially many slippery creatures, but none seen today.
Much thanks to -Beaker- for placing and maintaining this cache
"A cache a day keeps the doctor away" - keeping up with Purrfect Di and Jack should do it ! ! !
------------
- - Search at a good social distance whenever you can - or at least with nice clean friends - -
Things are slowly getting back to whatever normal might be - take it carefully!
Catching covid or gastro or anything really would mess up your streaks and challenges!
Keep away from all the nasty bugs ( except nice travel bugs of course )
[|)] - 2, 4, 6, 8,,, let's all go and vaccinate, one day when it's available lol !
[|)] - keep away from crowds as much as you can, they spread the nasty bugs! [:o)]
[|)] - go out and find or place some new caches in our safe country areas away from the red zones
Life's good. Enjoy ! ! ! Just do it

Found during a camping trip to the Coorong and the Southeast areas with brisal5 and I in one vehicle, and e.gregory and friend in the other. We travelled around the Narrung Peninsula and down the Coorong where we spent the first night camped out at Tea Tree Crossing. Enjoyed some challenging driving and eventful cache finds, wandering bush tracks and strenuous sand dune climbs in very scenic areas. The second night saw us camp out in Little Dip before meandering the country roads in search of an assortment of Traditional, Earth, Multi and Puzzle caches further down the coast before heading back home via Lucindale, Padthaway and Keith. Thanks for the cache -Beaker-!
Birds are very chirpy and cheerful this morning here!! Can't see them well but there is a lot. The fence wasn't an issue for GreyHams but caused me some issue but easily overcome and the cache soon found.
Trip log:
When it comes to our trips for GreyHams and myself, opportunity seems to play a big part in the timings.. be it an event, sales on airfares or car hire, in this case it was my visiting SA and being there that worked so well for this one!
So it was a drive up to Adelaide to collect GreyHams from the airport and then a trip that would see us ending up in Mount Gambier in the South east of SA, close to my family holidaying nearby and conveniently located that GreyHams could fly home to his. Perfect when a plan just comes together!!!
The primary target of the trip was counties, about 21 in total and we had almost the complete opposite need of counties from each other. Of course we also targeted other caches of importance, oldies dominated the state but there was DT, virtuals, webcams, Ausmer and types. If your cache made our list it had a quality we were wanting, or as GH says, we were waiting for a ferry or a plane!
What a variation in the places we visited, from Adelaide's suburbs out into the hills, the ferry across to Kangaroo Island for the night and the many coastal regions through Victor Harbour and Goolwa. Through Murray Bridge and out into Mallee Country to Lameroo before turning and finding a great bed and meal at the Keith Hotel. Continuing South into the very bottom of the SE of SA before returning north slightly to make the plane, in time and that arrived! So much wild life through the areas and locations of interest, it was great!
Had to love the Santas through the Adelaide hills, seems that stuffing a Santa suit is an art form all of its own, and entertained us for a long time! Kayaking to an island on Kangaroo Island was fun and although the donut from Port Elliot bakery had to pass with masses already queueing... the chunky steak pie from Willunga Bakery might not have been as good as a pepper pie later but it was still damn good! Its the little things sometimes!!!
Many thanks for your cache that led us about on a varied and very enjoyable trip!

This trip came together due in the best way! Aquilus1 was over in SE SA visiting family, yet had a bunch of counties unfound between Adelaide CBD and Victor Harbour, I was missing all the counties south & east of Strathalbyn. What could be better than flying over from Canberra and being picked up at ADL airport and knocking of ALL the counties all the way to Mt Gambier, where I flew out. Last minute Covid shenanigans in Sydney & Melbourne threatened to derail it, but all good.
Of course our trips are more than just counties....we have a range of targets: Oldies, webcams/virtuals, larges with challenges and D/T thrown in for fun. If you are reading this log, then this cache had some quality we were hunting (or we were waiting for ferries or planes!)
We saw such a change in countryside, from Adelaide Hills, to Kangaroo Island, up to Borrika and then down to 'the Mount'....and the Santas! I can see areas where christmas lights arent the done thing, its stuffing your own Santa and posing them in the front garden, saw some very funny examples, we were chuckling for an hour I swear.
South Australia has such a wealth of very old caches, its wonderful. We grabbed lots of oldies and are now just a single find off our Ausmer challenges (just need to get to Melbourne or Brisbane for the last).

It’s been great staying in Tailem Bend but now heading to Millicent and Mt Gambier.
On a road trip to South Australia now the border is open with Kittykatch, and barb2e calling ourselves Border Busters or BB. Sixth day of our trip and loving the beautiful green fields and cool day. Awesome day to be out.

Nice spot . There was a kookaburra aswell. The person with the smallest arms found it first !!
Back down to Mount Gambier with Mogni. She wanted to do mainteneance on some of her caches. Day 3 saw us slowly returning back to adelaide. After taking the coastal road down we took the inland road back. I think i finally have a almost ( less than 5 caches ) clear road from mount gambier to adelaide now. Any containers that needed maintenance were fixed and any log books that needed replacing or that where almost full where replaced with the mega coming. Also any small container had extra scroll placed in it for the coming mega in 4 weeks.
Mr Tardis was heading down to Millicent for the weekend. After a short walk, I found the cache in the first place I looked - don't you just love it when that happens?
The container has suffered a fair amount of UV damage and needs replacing.
Signed the log. Thanks for the cache Beaker.

Following an early minute from work, I packed my car and driving to Mount Gambier for the weekend to do a bit of scuba diving around some sinkholes and caves. I stopped to walk around Mount Monster, whilst also making brief stops at Keith, Naracoorte, and Penola.
As the sun started setting and it was getting darker, I felt like I had limited time left to find geocaches in the light. Since this was a little off the main highway and likely needs light to find the way and do it justice, I thought I would check out this billabong today. No water around, but did manage to find the cache reasonably quickly. Thanks.

I was quite keen to see this but there was no waterhole to be seen. Bummer.
Based in Meningie last night we were heading home the long way.
This weekend's mission was to get to 10,000 finds.
Initially the plans were to do the ROTF series, but a combination of not realizing that I was so close to 10,000, plus not wanting it to be a boring power trail cache for my big number AND the trail was on such a bad road with awfully incorrect hints and coords, so we abandoned the original plan at about 3pm and concentrated on just seeing the sights and finding what was along the way. It was much more fun.
The end of the weekend had me at 10,010 finds and quite pleased with the rest of my weekend.
I had found 5 types of geocache (trad, multi, mystery, letterbox and Earthcache) and seen some amazing wildlife and scenery. Basically the ideal caching trip.

Headed over the border into South Australia for a June Long Weekend caching trip to Meningie. To hit the ROTF trail (but we abandoned that after only 96 finds on it) Oh and to help sharkiefan make it to the big 10,000th smiley.
Today we were heading off back home via the back roads and to go via Mundulla as there is a nice cluster of caches to grab here.
an interesting place and a great little leg stretcher but sadly we could not find the waterhole.

Day two of my holidays, heading to the Yorke and Eyre Peninsulas in SA. With a predicted top of an unusual 41° C, I chose to head to the coast for hopefully cooler temperatures. As it turned out, it wasn't much cooler, but a more scenic route. This was another nice and quick find.

After a bit of a bush bash we arrived at GZ and quickly found the cache in its hidey hole. We could hear birds and wondered if there is an actual water hole here but at 5.30pm after a long and hot day caching we weren't energetic enough to go any further to find out. If there is a water hole some sign posting would be a good idea here.
