It's time to go

01-Dec-07
This was one of those 'why here' caches. It was in plain view and the container is not going to last. Maybe down at the Dam would be a more interesting spot. Reckon we could have turned the rental car no problem, but enjoyed the walk anyway. TFTC

log book for you
slightly moved the cache
it is now a safer stash

Nice walk in, but then went to high looking for the cache. After finally coming back to ground level and reading the clue found it easily.

cache in need of some serious TLC, log book falling apart, damp and mouldy.

This was my first find. I asked for an adventure and that's exactly what i got! Smile

We found a Generic GeoCoin GGDJ3J that wasn't logged. Placed an "I Love NY' keychain in its place.

Found together by me, my boyfriend's mum and two visitors from the US, also had to be 'rescued' by my boyfriend's aunt and uncle. Cache was well hidden so we learned a valuable lesson: to always pay attention to clues. Smile

Along with my team cacher buddy Sweet P I tackled this one late in the afternoon on what was a gloriously fine Sunday in the valley.

We followed the instructions and parked at the bridge. Recommended. And it meant a rather invigorating walk uphill for 10 minutes or so. The view was rewarding. Reread the lyrical inspiration on arrival, the best part of a The Lyrical's cache Smile and seized the opportunity and the cache.

Took nothing but added a free drink chip from The Edge bar in SFO (if you are passing that way!).

The Turtle strikes again!

Yes a nice find, the track was a bit of a give away. Pleasant walk up for the car park

18-Feb-07
Should of read the instructions better as we did drive up the road. However it wasn't too bad and we managed to turn around and park right next to the cache without blocking the road or going over the bank Wink

Quick find, signed log, many thanks.

17-Feb-07
Nice little breeze for the uphill walk - was expecting a 'seat' as a 'place we might like to rest', but no such luck.Wink Car passed us going up but thank goodness we didn't attempt the drive up, too narrow. Found cache quickly after scramble, the tree gave it away, why is it marked?
Was a good walk going back DOWN, passed again by a jogger who came RUNNING up!!!!
TNLN. Thanks.

Nice walk in alovely part of country. Didn't realise there were so many houses up here!
Found with the hepl of Keegan and Leigh and Angela

[My GPSr seemed to be 30m out, even after I re checked the coords on this site..]

Still found it though, too much traffic has resulted in a bit of a track which gives it away too easily..

14-Jan-07
Easy find @8.45pm.ge0rg
no trade

01-Jan-07
Took your advice and walked up the hill only to be passed by a car coming down! A nice walk all the same and can do with the exercise anyway. This was our last one for the day as my little blister slipped after finding the cache and hurt her shoulder. (With all the sympathy I could muster I told her to harden up [B)])
Nothing traded, TFTC

Found on a damp day. I must ask why the cache is where it is - couldnt see any damns, or circles or evidence of life (apart from trees). I must have missed the point right?. +-0 TFTC

Clam, mild & Cloudy, am easy find if I hadn't made it hard on myself, took nothing and left nothing. A lovely quite bushy road so close to civalization, Ta!

0Paco0, Red and the dogs found it.

Can you hear the rain today, running down the drain
Having this for many days is really quite a pain;
So here we are, away from home, although not very far,
Just 10+ ks in a straight line, but 30-odd by car.

It rains again, it blows again, there's nothing much to do
Alack, alas, the weather's bad - we live in the Manawatu!

We'll take the Geocoin, sit and repose
then leave some tissues for your nose.
You may well need them with this terrible weather.
(I don't know if Red will keep it together.)

It rains again, it blows again, there's nothing much to do
Alack, alas, the weather's bad - we live in the Manawatu!

But look, the weather's clearing up - and feel, my face is dry!
My soggy tramping boots are warm and Red says with a sigh:
"This is the bestest place on earth I'm sure you think so, too.
I'm glad I have my domicile right here in the Manawatu."

(with feeling, now)
The rain has stopped, the wind died down,at least for an hour or two.
Hoorah, hoorah, we've found the cache - right here in the Manawatu.

- Hercynia Silva Geocoin
+ packet of tissues

Thanks, Lyricals!

Found it without using any clues (left them behind anyway so no choice!). Contents getting a little damp - perhaps the cache needs to be a plastic bag. Left kiwi key tag took plastic thingy.

10-Nov-06
Found, one month after my last cache find which as it happens was "Circle of Life: Chapter 1"!

So, couldn't really resist attempting to be first to find "Circle of Life: Chapter 2" but it turned out there was already another entry in the log book, dated 4th November as I recall - but not recorded here (yet).

I also still had the German Geocoin (Hercynia Silva) uplifted from "Chapter 1" last month, so it seemed only right and proper to drop it into "Chapter 2" today. Took nothing from the cache. It is very full right now - and not that large. The two pens only *just* fit.

It was an interesting little drive out of "Palmy". We took a few wrong turns on the way but found the correct route in the end. My etrex initially tried to send us somewhere down the bank a little way south of the cache but we checked the cache description and then went straight to it.

Thanks, evilC and Son.
