General check and much needed new log book. Thanks to everyone for all the lovely entries in the old one.
Nice quick find. Great hide and great view now the rain has gone! Signed as rad deer as here for the mega with friends TFTC ??
I've just been over to check my cache, Look for Trains GCACQ2T. And I said I was coming over to find this and take a pic of his trains from this side. Having lost 18kg this year, it was an easy hike up without a rest, something I wouldn't have done a year ago. I'm pleased I waited till today to find, as the last couple of Mega days were bleak.I'm adding another ??.
We'd passed by this a few days prior, but the weather was atrocious so as we were in the neighbourhood, we popped back. View was outstanding today, and the cache was pretty good too. Bit of a trek up the hill though. Thanks for the cache, signed as Rad Deer
#4064 Today is day 25 of my geocaching vacation in New Zealand. I'm in Dunedin for [Geo Toroa (Dunedin, NZ)](https://coord.info/GCA7ZHD) mega event this weekend. Today, I drove to the peninsula and found some caches there.Found it! Quite a climb, but well worth it. Nice cache, nice view. FP given to this oldie.pter, thank you for the cache! -crystaloops from Taipei, Taiwan on October 25, 2024 @ 12:43:28[GCZ9RD] For King and Country (Otago) was a D2.0/T2.0 Regular Traditional Cache at the time of finding.
A drive around the Otago Peninsula today finding caches. I chose a few special ones including this one. A good workout going up the hill. I had the place to myself and it was a quick find of this great hide. Logbook (pretty full) signed and replaced as found. Tftc
What a surprise to see this monument! As MrsJag50 has said, the lower steps have been washed out, and care must be taken.Worth the walk up.Although it took way longer than 5 minutes !Great and unexpected container, thanks, pter This one has been here for quite some time!
A plan was hatched quite a while ago when the Dunedin Mega was announced to come over to the South Island again.I have only been to New Zealand twice before and I loved the South Island. So a chance to come back for a Mega was a no brainer for me.Everything was booked and I flew in last Saturday after a bit of a delay. So a drive from Oamaru to Dunedin yesterday and I had finally arrived at Mega central Dunedin. So Day 7 of my Mega NZ trip begins and I have teamed up with Roaming Howie again so lets go find a few more caches around the area.We are planing on being on the Otago Peninsula for the day doing some Geoart and any other caches that we stop at.We stopped at this one due to the favourites on it.A 5min walk but the notes did not say that it was so much up hill ?? but the poor old knee finally dragged me up there. The views were fantastic and the cache container was great.Another fav goes out to you for this one. Thanks pter TFTC.
We were driving past and with so many favourite points and a beautiful day this seemed to be worth a trip up. We were not disappointed, beautiful views and a very creative cache. Thanks for the effort that went into this and for bringing us to this spot.
Down for the MEGA with Supernannny and Net61 collecting some caches on the way. The track up the hill to gz has seen better days and is washed out in parts, but this did not stop us getting to gz. We had the place to ourselves today, and after finding the well camouflaged cache, we stopped to check out the views and take some photos. FP for bringing us here as we could have easily driven passed this historic place. TFTC
A beautiful day for it, you would hardly think that only a few days ago we were in a state of emergency over rainfall! Finally went here with a mate and got one of the best views of Dunedin and the Peninsula. TFTC
Awesome cache, very creative and well done. Very windy and wet day but worth the small hike. Top job
Wandering our way along the peninsula grabbing geocaches as we go. A cold and very windy walk to the memorial today where the cache was soon spotted. TNLNSL and left as found. Thanks for the placement at this memorial petr.
It took longer than anticipated. The cache is well camouflaged. Great idea! Thanks for the cache!
Found it by accident while up here with the kids. Might have got us back into geocaching again Found with both kids
found with flossieteacake. the views were amazing and i loved the cache. TFTC
Arrived just as another car was leaving the parking bay, so managed to squeeze in there. GeohoundandI hadn't told me about how to get to this cache, but needless to say I needed more than one stop to catch my breath on the way up. Luckily we met a muggle with a couple of dogs which I could fuss over. At the top it was breath taking, not just the view but the gale force winds, but at least it cooled us down.We spotted the cache straight away, even with its camo, although it would definitely fool a muggle if they were looking there.
What a great memorial! We didn't know this was here but spotted from the road and had to visit. Great cache, fave point awarded, TFTC!
The big mission of today day was to break my record of most finds in 1 day. I started in the morning from Larnach Castle, after spending the night there. Unfortunately, the weather was really bad for part of the day but I persisted nonetheless, going on a geocaching hunt through the wind and rain, on my bike! After going down Highcliff Road into the city, I spent a lot of time in the city centre, ticking off all adventure labs there. Then through the botanical gardens and onto the steepest street in the world, which I managed to ride all the way up in 3 'stints' . To finish off I grabbed some more tradies at the waterfront and just before midnight I called it a night. I'm not sure if I broke the record yet, since I'm only logging all finds at the moment .Btw, sorry to all CO's, I did not manage to actually sign all logs, since my fingers were sometimes so cold, I had no strength to open some tight containers. Rest assured, I actually found all containers and enjoyed the full day hunt a lot! Also sorry for this generic log for all caches, making it a little bit easier for myself, since I found so many. All finds were relatively easy, mostly because of the hints, thanks for that. All DNF's were either taking too much time so I had to move on, or were very probably missing. Many thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining! FP's rewarded for the ones I especially enjoyed!
Fantastic view from here for the hero to look out on. We spotted the cache immediately but ignored it as it wasnt what we were looking for . Read thru the logs, noticed our mistake and we had it. TB drop.
me and my mate found it. It was very clever absolutely loved it. The person who made it is a genius
Fabulous fabulous fabulous . Love the views and the cache. Thanks so much for bringing us here. TFTC

Day 6 of the Fangsoki/1MinnieMoo NZ adventures. We headed to the peninsula today as Fangsoki wanted a particular cache (which we didn’t end up achieving). Luckily I had a couple of other caches on the list while out here, and this was one of them.
Fangsoki pulled up the campervan, and having done this cache before says “have fun”. So out I got and trotted up here solo. Yep that was a quick bit of up!!
And with no one about up here it was a quick and easy find at GZ.
Thanks for the cache pter.

Great 360 degree views, but extremely cold today with the wind. Thanks pter for bringing us to this special place
Visiting Dunedin for a few days while on a trip to this end of the country. Fantastic warm sunny day so we decided to head out the peninsula. Fortunately google sent us via the high road. As we approached I said 'there has to be a cache up there'. It was soon found, a great cache at a great location. A FP. Thanks for the cache.

One watcher. **An ode to [Keys](https://coord.info/GCHVTA)** 50ft away that only 35 finders back in 2004-'06 before it's 2nd birthday; still retaining it's only watcher.
Oooh so noice to be out on the hills again. Have been up past here before noticing the box had been through some changes, both cosmetically and laterally as the cache had initially been found around the other side but is now more true to the hint. Some time and workmanship had gone into remaking the box but noice to see the original logbook and contents are still current. Time and many hands had made the original plastic container careworn with repaired old steel hinges making extraction tricky accessing the older cache box. Goods had been tickety boo dry and respected. The wee magnets in the false bottom aren't strong enough so you have to support the new cache when extracting it from hide as the full 2Lt sistema is wery heavy with books and swag. Looking up from the old place, a shiny red glint caught my eye and doh! who would leave a randumb bison tucked away in the cliff rocks. Some rubbish inside was cito'd and we scored ourselves a free bison. Noticing which visitors had been signing the logbook over the years, the cache has been discovered times aplenty by tourists heading to the peninsula. It's quite a walk to the monument and not too much room for parking so cache isn't bombarded by the hoards looking for easy P&G's with enough time to flick their phones out ramdumbly looking for closest caches. Thanks for bringing us up here again for the cache. Now to find a dry place up top to have our coffees and watch the constant stream of traffic prowl along the Highcliff road to the castle. *High favs! **105favs**! 2nd Favorite Fan! Heart challenge **20pt 49th** Trad **820pt***. No.#2310 TFTC

On my hike today to the monument I was blown away. For one by the wind, for another reason by the stunning view.
My respect to all of those who served their country in times of need.
Great cache, by the way!

Cool spot with what I’m sure is a great view (was foggy today). Found with Laura.
Cache 1219 Yikes what a hike up this hill!!!! It’s very steep it says terrain 2 but if your not good with steep hills it’s more like a 3 even though the path is a good strong clear one. The view from here certainly is amazing on a clear day, today was quite windy so after signing the log I went right up stairs by monument and I was struggling to stay standing straight , cache is in excellent shape T4TC
Came all the way from Vancouver BC Canada to find this cache, lol. Thanks for being part of the adventure!
On my way to Larnach Castle I enjoyed the view here and was able to log the cache. TFTC
Tftc amazing creation…… great views. Let’s pay our respect to the soldiers. Six60 concert on tonight!!! Fave point
A great cache, well-looked-after and a pleasure to find. Love the careful camouflage. Wonderful views too - a lovely day here today.
This cache deserves more than thank you! It is very special spot with a great remembrance.
The box is also special, amazing construction and the content. We have spent few minutes just reading the book and imaging how it had to be.
Thank you for the commemorate.
Greetings from Czech Republic and thank you for the cache.

This is my fourth geocaching excursion to **beautiful New Zealand**!
Due to Covid [xx(] I had to wait for 3 long years to again return to my beloved Middle-Earth [xx(].
This time its a road trip enduring for 26 days, covering both North- and South-Island.
On this beautiful and sunny day , the peninsula called for an urgent caching-visit ...
Made some beautiful finds .
This geo-treasure contributed to the 'catch' of today. Cool! [^]
It was quite a swetty way up to the statue - but rewarded with an awesome hide .
Refreshed version - well done! [^]
A big thanks to the owner pter [:X] for hiding and ongoing maintainance of this cache [^] - and best regards from Germany !

Apologies for the delay. Refreshed to version 3. Hope this is as good as it has been. Please ensure it goes back as you found it.
Thanks team. Will need to repair the enclosing camo for sure but it can limp along while I do so. Amazed that people repeatedly seem to put it metres away from it's actual hiding place.
#22006. It was hard work getting to GZ, but our efforts were rewarded with great views (though we were blasted by the wind while enjoying the views). I soon spotted something that looked out of place, and sure enough the cache was underneath it. The outer plastic container is now pretty brittle, but the inner plastic container is in good shape. Good to find this venerable cache. TFTC.
We had driven along Highcliff road several times before but had never noticed this oldish cache here. As it was also a WP for a virtual cache, we stopped and did the climb to the monument. A bit of effort - perhaps the steps were built for giants?
It was rather blustery up here, but great views to be had.
I think KiwiChris made the find in the end, he had already found it many years ago. TFTC.

In Dunedin for a few days for U13 football tournament. Even though Mr12 has a broken arm we still made the trip to support the team...and Mr12, with a bubble wrapped arm, even managed to play a couple of the games....
Games all over so we came out for an afternoons drive in the sunshine....boys not up to much walking to just a putter around to admire the views...and find the odd cache or two. This being one. Thanks.
