Out with dty73 and Tankengine for a walk out along the tracks. Beautiful day to be out and loved the paraphernalia spotted as we walked along. The flat terrain along the tracks was a relief from the hills we walked to get up to them... clearly my Christmas break was less than active!
Lovely scenery along the way helped distract that the walking became more challenging the further we walked along the tracks. Although not the hottest of days it warmed up, and the stones underfoot slowed things up a little.
The last two culvert caches added to the fun, challenging to scramble down to with the moving sliding rocks on the slope, add in a few barbs, nettles and thorns and the DT was well earnt!
Relief to turn off the tracks and head across the reserves under the shade of the trees, so many butterflies and dragonflies everywhere. Fantastic day out and a great place to walk, although I was so pleased to have crawled under that last fence and be back to the car! Thanks for the cache BigON.
On the way up to this one I had a moment of, I feel like I've been here before and was so hoping I hadn't forgotten to log and made the others walk up unnecessary. All good, I hadn't found this one before, a nice old cache and in great condition... love these old caches and so important that they last. This is in a great spot.

Great spot and a nice sized cache to go with it .
Many thanks to big on for the hilltop view and cache hide.

Found with geo-hack @1420. More good views from here. Spotted a secluded house which is on the other side of Old Tuggeranong Road near the railway station and noted how nice it would be to live there tucked away from the suburbs.
I thought of the High School, then an old program from the 90s "Melrose Place". I watched 1 episode & didn't understand what all the fuss about the show was.
A lovely afternoon for a walk - and to collect some "Natural Wonders" souvenirs.
Melrose High: A typically wondrous Tuggeranong view here!
Thanks for the cache!

Took quite a bit of cutting my way through long grass to reach this one.
Another wonderful view. Canberra's landscape is very underrated.

Out for my Wednesday afternoon constitutional to regain fitness after knee replacement surgery. Hard work but rewarding.

Thank you for the cache. We had a great time searching for it with the Collies!

Found after walking from Tuggeranong Trains. Wasn't sure the correct entry point but left the path were I could see a hole in the fence. Cache was found in good condition. Thanks BigON
A nice big cache and an easy find but I spent some time here today checking out the view. It gave me a chance to see the whole loop of the railway line around to the camp kitchen. It also has an excellent view of Tuggeranong, especially from beside the rain gauge. TFTC
Container and Geojunk updated, the view is still great from up there, a solar powered water monitoring station? has appeared nearby since my last visit.
In the area with woolwood9 today. ????SL tm/ww NZGreat walk to GZThanks for the reason to stop for the cache.
For my late-afternoon constitutional I sought out several of the geocaches on and around Melrose Hill in a three hour, 10.1km walk from Henry Melville Crescent in Gilmore. I found 12 out of the 13 geocaches on my list. This cache was a straightforward find, being in an obvious spot on the coordinates. Thank you BigON for installing and maintaining this cache.
Thanks for a decent hike and great views. We also found an echidna nearby, and took some pics from a safe distance. No snakes fortunately.
TFTC glorious Spring day to be out and about with Darkmadviking training for Everest base camp trek at the end of the year !
Another nice hill, but getting a bit late for good views. Cache found quickly and all OK.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Out with Marmaduke Rothschild and Betty Rothschild for a couple of hour's caching fix. We had an objective in mind but after failing to find it, had to be satisfied with some other nearby caches. Great view from here. TFTC.
Getting cold and the sun is going down - time to head home. Made a quick find up here while out walking the dog. Thanks for the cache. Signed Canberra 945.
After some caches nearby I decided a couple more wouldn't hurt so headed along the trail and up the hill to this one! A short climb, got the heart pumping a little bit but nothing too crazy.
Got to the top and found the cache in good condition in the obvious place!
Thanks for yet another cache in this reserve BigON! Good to see them all holding up nicely after close to 10 years!

#3954 4th for today
My new Garmin Oregon 750t has arrived and I was keen to take it out for a spin, in particular to try out some of the new functionality. I used the GCLive feature to load caches in the field, and took a few pics. So I was down at the bottom of Hume to grab a few along the rail trail. There were a few storms threatening and I did get a bit wet, but it was pleasant enough.
A quick wander up the hill for this one. Enjoyed the view of the incoming storms. Decided to head for lower ground.
Thanks to the COs: BigON

I managed to bribe my youngest son to come for a bike ride with me, to collect the caches along the old railway line. We parked close to Quincunx and cached our way south to here, before enjoying the non-stop ride back again. Cache easily found. TFTC.

Big day bushwalking
A pretty enjoyable day out with Pete
Quite a hot day but we are glad we have plenty of water
Merry christmas everyone!

Great views! Even like the little house near by. Snowy mountains look like they're having a white out over there. Can hardly see them through the snow fall. Thanks for bringing up here! Tftc!!!
On the way to this cache, did a bit of compass work to keep my skills up. Tend to rely on the GPS and took the opportunity as I was on my own to brush up on my Orienteering skills! Very basic but I still have it - never move without my compass. Beware the lethal Rose Hips guarding the cache.
We left The Woofer at home today (we've picked enough grass seeds out of her fur lately!) and headed out to grab a bunch of caches that have been staring us in the face for a while. We found 11 from 11 (over 11km!!), and had a great walk along the train tracks, saw some awesome views, dodged a snake, and left goodies behind wherever possible.
This was the first find of the day for us, and we loved the views. TFTC!

Sunday 20 November 2016 - a hot 30 degree + Spring afternoon riding my bike, and walking 7.4kms in approx 2.25hrs to find 7 from 7 caches. Enjoyed the light sprinkle of rain as the thunder and lightening rumbled in the distance along with torrential rain. Great walk along the old railway line. Thx p2p. TFTC BigON.
First cache back into caching season! It's definitely worth noting most of us were particularly rusty when it came to walking up the big hills. The views are spectacular - thanks for the cache! Found with Ham228
First find for our first cache session for the season. Good start to our long trail ahead. Tftc!
F(H)ound It! No.1079 - @2:28:00 PM
Followed a track from Overlooked and eventually found a point where the RP and I could get through the fence. Memorised the spot so that we could get out again easily. Magnificent views all round and especially to the north-west where smoke/mist is still hanging in the hills.
The log book is full. Thanks for the cache, BigON

#1292 A fairly easy trek across from Overseer, this cache was soon found, but in desperate need of a new log book. Thanks BigON.
TFTC Dragged the geohounds and geosister for a nice night walk, paused to admire the sunset
not sure why it didn't log this one, i definitely did it (remember seeing the do not enter, regeneration zone) or somethin sign near the railroad tracks to the west, did it anyway on the other side to the east lol it was definitely in rocks too. tftc and the great views
Sublime 360 degree views and a new perspective of Canberra and melrose valley despite the amount of times I've been around the pines and the valley. Found with TheStormMan - Thanks BigON.
After finding two wonderful caches we had enough daylight to head up here to top off the caching for the day. We followed the path around before spotting a good way up and over the fence. What a way to end our walk, lovely location with great view all round.
Was getting nice and cold up here in the late afternoon, but lovely to be up here as the sun was setting.
Thanks BigON for sharing this high spot and we do love these older caches and there is only one spot left on this old logbook!

Wowsers!! What a view, perfect timing for some fabulous sunset photo's. TFTC!!
An awesome view - well worth the walk! If night wasn't falling and I wasn't watching a storm approaching, I would linger, but it's a few km back to the geo-ute so I must hasten. Will bring the geo-family back to this one. TFTC, BigOn
If it was any more wind around, then I would have been blown off the top of the hill, but great view and tftc.
Only live 15min from here although I've never been to this location. Great view. Cheers for the exp.
I trudged up from the railway line, which was ok except for some high-strength spiderwebs that were intent on hindering my progress every few metres.
A nice spot and quite peaceful: highway and airplane noise aside.
TFTC.

An 18.1 kilometre walk around Enchanted Hill, Richardson and the railway line east of the Monaro Highway searching for caches. Excellent views from the top of the southern Canberran suburbs. Glad I found this one as it was a long climb up to it. TFTC.
Walk to this cache directly from track was tricky and not pretty but found cache
easy:-)
easy:-)
Here it is, the first day of summer!!! I decided that I would like a good walk, a few geocaches, and the company of my GeoSchnauzers. This cache was the second today, which we found after a nice walk up another hill. TFTC. What a top view!!!
Found with Girrawa on a hike with Orroral Troop as part of scouting the ACT boundary. TFTC.
What a beautiful day, much too nice to stay inside so left with the little musketeers and tackled this first one. Great find by the trusty musketeer dog! And then entertained by the fire team putting out a huge brush fire on the local mountain! Great cache, views and start of today's adventure.
quite a bit of a walk to get to these, would suggest bringing a bike on the manageable dirt roads. Tftc, had no idea there was a paintball place in ACT either, will have to tell my partner and his friends about that. possible next b-day spot
