Container and all firetacks removed. It was interesting removing #4 as it was in a tree right by the stage in the dell. And there was a Summer In The City Concert on at the time... So hundreds of people saw me...
Thanks to all who made this such a great cache. Cheers, GC.

Cache has sadly been muggled, found by myself and my fiance on a trip to the gardens, lying on the side of a path. There should be another log after this from him too! We contacted the original placer too, so maybe this will get re-done.
Tricky to do this in the daylight and I think we missed a few fire tacks but since we didn't have another night in the city gave it a go anyway and figured out the final following most of the tacks. Out TB map In TB My Teacher Angel. Had wanted to leave this down at the Bowen Street Cemetary but not sure if this Cache still exists and running short of time so left it here. Good for a night time collect.
Found as part of my three week caching trip from Wellington to Auckland - # 85. Always enjoy the firetack caches, sneaked it in before it got too light. Thanks.
What an excellent cache! On a lovely evening I arrived a little early and it was still dusk. Got started and lost the plot at #4. Definitely helped once it got properly dark. Got confused at GZ but persevered and got the find. Then I just made it to the cable car in time for the last trip. Lucky as it would be a long walk back in the dark. TFTC SL

On a beautiful late winter night, we took a wander through the park. Not sure where all of the firetacks might be, as we only found about 6 of them, but did manage to eventually find the cache. Definitely missed #'s 2 and 3, so thanks for the clue for #4. No geocoin in cache, as listed in description. Took the golfer figure, left a Robots figure. TFTC!
Having helped Bkj97 to find many of his caches since May 2009 I thought it was time that Bcj97 (previous name) should evolve and register my finds to date as Little Blue Hen.Friends and many torches made light work of it. TFTC
Great little night cache. Enjoyed it after a meal with bkj97 and friends in Courtney Place. TFTC
After a great day in the gardens with Bcj97, Richargr and Paula - Partook of food and beverage downtown until darkness fell, decided this was the way to complete the Botanical caches. Torches a little dodgy but winged our way from reflector to glowworm to reflector and located cache within 25 minutes despite following Richargr's reflective jacket and losing count of markers. Took dragon TB. Intended swapping TB's but left Influenza Fever Virus in the car and too slack at end of long day to go back for it. Cache secure and covered. TFTCSL
This was our first night cache and was loads of fun, on a freezing cold night. I think we missed a few of the fire tacks but found our way to the cache, accompanied the whole way by a very friendly ginger tomcat. Really enjoyed this one - thanks!
Finally got around to this one! A neat little experience; always enjoy a FireTack cache. A few missing I think, had to use a lot of guessing of the trail, but got there in the end using that Geocaching instinct!

Nice cache. We did it in daytime, an once we knew what to look for it was going fast. Thanks!
After leading a glow-worm tour (by Friends of the Garden), I took the suggestion of Emvy Us whom I'd seen last month, to hunt for the firetacks on a calm clear night.
Found a few but lost the trail, maybe there are too many missing, though I'll try more use of the clues on another day/night visit.

Another enjoyable firetacks cache completed as part of a birthday celebration - a lot of fun had by all.
Didn't find all the reflectors but found enough - certainly had plenty of helpers and torches (5*10yr olds!). TFTC. Couldn't find geocoin that is mentioned here.
Nice cache, I never knew this track was there. Either some of the firetacks are missing or well hidden because we counted nine by the time we got to GZ (after taking a couple of punts of the direction of the next tack), TFTC, SL, -kitty, +purple hairclip.
Had a lot of fun with this one, got off to a flying start then the trail went cold. Almost gave things away but decided to act on a hunch, and Opo my trusty torch soon put a twinkle back in my eye. Not too many problems after that, but too be honest I think I had luck on my side, rather than following the intended trail. A lot of fun really enjoyed it. A lovely evening to be out shining torch light into peoples eyes. TNLN SL 1840hr TFTC.
My first firetack cache, and it was a hoot! As others have noted, some of the critical tacks seem to have gone missing, but with some careful guessing at the most likely path, I managed to recover the trail each time. Spoted muggles walking through the lower part of the gardens when I started and ended - is it a popular shortcut or something?

The end of the day and time to go home, but after a somewhat frustrating sort of day we desperately needed a highlight. OK, lets give this one a go, even tho it wasn't properly dark at 6.30pm. Torch in hand we approached the start. Feeling slightly embarrassed and trying not to attract attention, we flashed in various directions and all became glowingly obvious. A wedding party approached in high spirits but we managed to bypass them. Punga continued on discreetly with the torch while Paua tackled it in reverse, catching glimpses of an occasional flasher through the trees. We met up at last even tho the numbers were a bit short. It had to be here! A bit of guess work and it was in our hands. The lights were out but the cache was still here!! A really enjoyable highlight to finish our day. We loved it and will return to enjoy it again in the daylight.
Thanks for a great cache. Another one to add to our favourite list.

Enjoyed this case on a cold night's walk - first night cache I've done. Very cool - I will bring family here when we are next in Wellington. All the firetacks seemed to be there, but couldn't see #11 from #10, I think the foliage has grown?

This took a little longer than it should have. The fire and drums folks were making use of the amphitheatre and I felt a little guilty shining my backpack-powered light source around trying to find the tacks with them wondering about the sudden daylight. Well not quite, but close. I had a couple of good walks around the gardens before finding the right track in an effort to not disturb them. Once on the track it was easy. Nice cache. A quick run round... a bit scary on my own in a strange city's park, but it certainly kept the excitement levels up. Fun!
What fun!! We had to do this one in daylight on the shortest day. Took a while to get started but did enjoy the challenge. Had some wannabe geocachers with us. Thanks for the fun. Took goecoin up to the naki.
This is one of the most enjoyable family fun caches in Wellington city. We really like the fact that it allowed us the choice of doing the cache during the day or night. We came in the morning hoping to spot a firetack or two (with the intention to return at night), but as soon as we found the first two, we were so caught up in the challenge that we could not stop . So caught up were we, that it never crossed our minds to use the hints (even after we had wandered way off course! ). The 2 different types of reflectors made the hunt challenging and each find was more rewarding. Took GC. Left GC. Wish there were more caches like this. Thanks for setting this up.

I was just in town for a few days, but this cache seemed like a 'must do'. Completely lost the plot with the first two or three points, stumbled across the trail somewhere in the middle - explored hither and yon, and came across the double! Stunned surprise on my part, I might add.
Took a fried egg and left a red yoyo (which catdownunder has since snaffled, as I am a bit slow at my logging). Checked a bit more down at the start and confirmed the first two tags are in place and I should have taken more care and a fatter torch. TFTC - good fun.

What a great idea. We really enjoyed this. Went up via cable car, walked down to the start in the dark, did the cache, then had the hotel receptionist over the road call us a cab to get back to the city. !0 year old was very excited by this one. TNLNSL TFTC
I was really excited by this. I dragged my parents up the hill and then made them walk to the start from the top of the cable car. All our legs are sore from 4 days of orienteering around the Wairarapa. We would love to have one of these in Canterbury and maybe it should be us that make it. What a fun way to spend a pleasant Wednesday evening. My first time doing this type of cache, which I have heard about from others. Took a while to get started firstly because it was too light & secondly the 3rd one was missing. After that it all fell into place. Shall return sometime to see this park in the daylight. TFTC
(0024 - 2235hrs) After going to one of the summer concerts at the Sound Shell and doing some other things while it got dark so I could show a friend I was with the firetacks. We headed off.
This time once at GZ found the cache immediately on this nice night.

NOTE: It seems some of the firetacks that I saw on my first visit are not there. It may have been due to all the lights for some of them but I am sure that some of the first ones aren't there. Possibly muggled due to the concerts.

This was fun - even in the daylight which I think may have been harder than at night. Luckily the sun was shinging on the first firetack so that got me started OK. Couldn't find No 3 but was very lucky to find No 4 (later confirmed from hints). Found my way to the end eventually but missed another 6 along the way. Later found No 9 (or 10) after reading clues and may have missed No 8 too - didn't find and extra one there but thought there may have been. Discovered that taking pictures with the flash turned on was a help.
Decided I was at the end and found the cache before the last markers which were particularly hard in the daylight. Added bonus was to find a Silver Eye nest just 3m E of the cache with chicks being fed by mum and dad.
Grabbed the "Flying Zac" TB and a V can opener and left an Aussie keyring and a Trangia carabiner. Had fun wandering around the gardens on a very pleasant sunny morning. Thanks.

We are on holiday from Scotland, and as the owner of "Edinburgh Night Lights", I just had to try this night cache. I found the first 2 firetacks easily, but could not see no 3 anywhere. (I went back to it later and noticed that it is close to a light, which makes it more difficult to see at that distance.) I ended up doing a small circuit around the lawn in the hope of seeing no 4, and finally spotted it, and followed the trail. I am not sure I found all the other 15, but I got to the cache in the end. TNLN, thanks.
Well what do you do at 0130hrs or so on New Years morning while walking home. Geocaching of course.
Didn't have cache info with me. So just headed in and looked around and found a firetack. Then searched for more to follow them. Started heading off and winding away. Then got lead off in the wrong direction by something shiny. There are some metal tags on some trees which reflect light well and led me off track. So I back tracked and found the track again.
Upon seeing a pair of firetacks I knew I must be there, but after a lot of searching I found nothing. However after reading the hint I think I would have probably walked right over it. Will return another time. Maybe by day!

The third of 3 on an evening walk in the Gardens with Mrs agcnz, and a real fun one! Missed the second firetack but managed to pick up on the third from a considerable distance. Missed several others but just kept going along the track until the two on one tree were spotted, and then finding the cache was quick and easy. TNLN - signed log as agc062 which I was using at the time. Thanks for the cache, we need more like this!

A fun cache as day faded and Christmas comes to an end. Up and down, trying to spot that elusive glint. This was a "Must do" after family members TobiasNZ and Damok found it without us.
Cache was found quite exposed, but this was probably due to recent wind and rain. Left Pigs are flying NOT! geocoin, cover cache again with leaf litter and pine needles (hope they last)

We tried so find it but couldn't find the firetacks, maybe our torch wasn't powerful enough. Will have to come back with a more powerful torch sometime.
We got a bit confused... didnt realise the firetack changed in colour so were at the end point way before we thought we were.

Yay, finally we found that one. We tried it three times and were once sooo close. Because our torch is not strong enough we had to do it again during daytime. unfortunatly we were to early at the starting point, the light`s over the gate made the place to bright to see the first reflector. so we decided to go through the garden and were hoping to see one of the reflectors and then find the cache. the first we saw, were the last two which marked the cache. We were glad to find it, but a little sad, cause the important thing of a night cache is to find the refector marked way in the dark.

I have read about firetacks but never seen one so I thought I would have a crack at this cache and the fine moonlit night was ideal. I had a short conversation with a secrurity man locking the vehicle gates who I think thought I was loopy walking in there at night but I pressed on and found my way to ?? 15 or somewhere near the end I think.
I tried at least 5 directions from there but I think I was close to GZ as the exit instructions fitted perfectly.
I did probe around quite extensively but did not hit paydirt.
Never mind I enjoyed the firetack experience anyway.

Found it despite the lack of "fireflys" - they are very good aren't they. Not surprised some have gone missing - they would attract two legged moths of the light fingered variety! Thanks GenCuster - a nice cache.
Needed a Shining Light tonight! Missing Firetacks # 2, 5 & 13 (or 14 - I lost count myself ). I have 2 spares so hope to replace them this week & change the GZ pointer to 2 tacks so all complete.
If you want to do this in the meantime, Firetack # 3 is by the stairs past #1 Firetack. Firetack # 5 is UP path past # 4, # 13 is along path - just keep walking & looking for the next one.
Not too hard really.

A friend just got a GPS and so I introduced him to caching. I suggested this one as a fun introduction for him as it was one that's been on my list for a while now. We had a ball finding it. A great idea and a really fun way to get someone hooked!

Excellent cache. What a great idea (Fire Tacks). Nice night for walking. Head lamp works really well with Fire Tacks.

After a beautiful clear day, it turned into a rather wet evening. We managed to find this cache before it got too damp. I've been wanting to do this one for a few weeks now, but the light display kept me away. I'd been up the path twice in the last week, and probably walked right by the cache both times.
