This cache has unfortunately been archived due to fire and the resulting fragile environment.

23-Apr-07
While the cache and all waypoints surprisingly survived the fire, the surrounding area is now too fragile to support geocacher activity. I'm archiving the cache out of consideration for the local environment. Hopefully in 6 months to a year it will have recovered adequately for another cache or two in this reserve.

08-Apr-07
It would seem that the neighbour which some of the cachers have met was conducting a "controlled" burn on the side of his property adjacent to the bushland refuge. I guess he didn't like people utilizing this area, and decided to put an end to it. By the looks of it, a large portion of this reserve has been burnt, and most of the waypoints for this cache are likely gone. I noticed this on the way to the airport today, and won't be back for a few weeks to check on it. My apologies to anyone who was working on this cache. As this will now be an environmentally sensitive area, it is very unlikely that the cache will be re-enabled.

If geocachers did this much property damage, it is likely that caching would be banned. Now what can we do about farmers?!?

Well finally I can sleep at night. This has being bugging me for months. A very difficult cache right to the end.Sat on the final instructions for a while before working out what to do with them. TFTC.

This one has been sitting idle in my mind and notebook since January. After getting a certain milestone out of the way I thought we'd best get back to our neasrest to home!

I wasn't entirely sure that I'd worked out the final location but we went on a hunch. Red Face Mmmmm, I think the hunch was wrong. Twisted

No cache for THENANKS today. Back to the drawing board.

Huntsman spider sits
In silent ambush it lies,
cache guardian.

I wondered what was tickling so much after I had grabbed the cache Smile
Not to worry it is safe and sound and both the spider and the cache are back where they were found Big Grin
Thanks Fehrgo for a fun cache chase and the hours of distracting fun I've had searching the internet for stuff [^]
Took a turtle and left a bauble.

We set off on a night's geocaching and decided to make this our first stop to allow us to tackle the cache search while it was still light. This was a bonus as being in this fantastic bush in the late afternoon is spectacular.

We've enjoyed our time trekking from waypoint to waypoint in this beautiful place... we're not sure what it is but there is something special about it.

As we made our way to what we thought was GZ, we took a couple of quick looks but when we got close, we knew we had found the right spot.

We swapped some echidna decals for a green jeep car.

Many thanks to fehrgo for a great caching experience.

Well, last night after the 20/20 cricket finished, I sent Mr NANKS out with the coordinates that I had worked out for WP3. YAY! Big Grin He found it in the dark with no problems.

So now onto the final stage. Surprised Nothing has dawned on me yet. [xx(] I'll try to have a look at it after our lunch guests have left.

I'm enjoying the challenge so far. Thanks Fehrgo

Still NO IDEA Sad ...haha

09-Jan-07
THENANKS got home from Moreton Island last night and I had a set of coordinates burning a hole in my pocket. Late this afternoon, all 4 of us headed to what I thought "could be" WP2. YAY! I was right! Big Grin 9 Yr old Isaac found the WP and we are now armed with the next step of the puzzle.

Actually I think I have the next coordinates already! Is it too dark to check my suspicions??? Wink Maybe I'll send Mr NANKS!

Stay tuned.

Stewed on this all day at work especially because I thought "that's it" now I know. Well it was-Yippee I can sleep again at night and work won't suffer. ALAS I was not FTF, that Pirate did us again-well done Captain, I am just glad that I found it!!!
This has been one of, if not the most consuming Cache we have ever done, it kept us interested to the last, educated us on the way, caused us to remember old school lessons, and to think outside the ammo box.
Thanks heaps Fergo !!!

Dropped in to visit a nearby "Dude".... Bumped into "Culture50" who were bush Basho(ing)...!....

I see this one is still not "Found"....Yikes!

02-Jan-07
I've revised the difficulty to 4.5/3, due to the difficulty of some of the individual components. The cache from the last waypoint is a difficulty 4, due to the special knowledge requirement. To someone with that knowledge, the entire multi would be about a 3.5/3. Rest assured that that knowledge, as with most things, can be found on the Internet.

Overnight inspiration-one step closer-mmm... more confusion.

On the warm breezes
the cicada song carries,
one step closer now Big Grin

31-Dec-06
Met 'If' -confirmed our new stratagy-now one step closer as well, however a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
Thanks Fergo.
Thought I'd get this to complet'06, will have to wait for '07 and more inspiration.

30-Dec-06
whilst hunting this morning I noticed a few interesting picture oportunities-unfortunately they appear at my first log and not here. Enjoy

30-Dec-06
Went after this one with zactyl. We had a few others on the list but this was my main objective for the night. WP1 guided us towards itself using the force and sent us on a wild goose chase for WP2. Found lots of spiders, mosquitos and the stick insect but no WP2. Maybe a day attempt would have been more fruitful, but at least we made the first WP on our first attempt Smile something we didn't really expect.

We'll be back!

30-Dec-06
I found the first waypoint easily and am now armed with the information that I guess I must need??? Surprised

I will be away from internet access for over a week now but I will ponder! Big Grin

30-Dec-06
There have been recent indications that there may have been intentional damage caused to the site caused by a cacher. Please refrain from such behavior in the future, as it is both environmentally insensitive and damaging to geocaching as a whole.

If anyone encounters anything out of the ordinary while looking for the waypoints, please record the coordinates and forward them to me to be dealt with appropriately and for damage mitigation. If further vandalism is reported, I will be archiving this cache. Thank you.

30-Dec-06
Whilst on my morning ride I heard the cicdas calling -was it a sign? I thought so , off I went again in search of the elusive lonely gum tree amongst the thousands that block my view-a case of can't see the forest for the trees-alas my grey matter(getting greyer by the visit) is still not plugged into the correct programme and I don't progress any further!
We'll have to give 'Fergo" cache of '06 for this one I think.
Will try again.

29-Dec-06
This was the feature cache for the evening, and a lovely piece of bushland it was. WP1 was in hand in next to no time, at 9:20pm, but unfortunately that's where our luck ended. Having no stone, tried flinging my GPS to see if it would guide me, but that didn't work either. We spotted one of your stick insects at where we thought WP2 should be. At 10:45pm we called it quits and took a nice walk to a nearby cache that we did find!

29-Dec-06
I found WP1 easily and while sitting there fehrgo himself turned up... I indicated that I thought I was on the right track and that I would call him if I needed assistance as he was going to be in the same patch of bushland.

I did call him a little bit later and we ended up meeting up at WP2 - I must have got lucky as I found it reasonably quickly.

We continued on to WP3 and I found that reasonably quickly too but it was here that the game ended. fehrgo watched on as I tried to solve this one but a solution wasn't going to come so I've taken it away to work on.

I'll be back.

29-Dec-06
I stopped in for a maintenance run today and ran into Adam from The Garner Family sitting at the first waypoint. He worked his way through the first few waypoints, including walking right up to wp2, and is now just working on the coordinates of the cache. I suspect it won't be long now!

29-Dec-06
I'm going to stop in and check on this today, to check on insect activity and to make sure that the waypoints are not damaging the surrounding environment.

27-Dec-06
No, No not again-no luck this time either. Ahh now I know what to do-If I count the number of cicada chirps per minute and divide that by the number of single , lonely gum trees, hang on -that's my lotto numbers.I remember it was the number of wallaby scats added to the number of cicada shells I could find or was that divided by the number of stripes on the floating feather??

On a serious note-beware of the paper wasp nest near (I think) WP1-not that close but close enough!

I'll be back

26-Dec-06

Again, no result after spending a morning contemplating my navel.
[Stoned all the crows I could find, left no stone unturned-will bring my own next time, this may help if I bash my head against it!]
GPSr was playing 'ring around the rosies' and had to survey a large area-all of cause for no result.
Try again another time.
Thanks

21-Dec-06
Great area for this hunt-5 trillion likely spots!!!
Couldn't get past Wp 1.
