The developers have moved into the bush around the cache and you can no longer gain access from behind the baseball ground. The closest spot to park is now Meredith Crescent then walk east down the fire trail. Once past the gate look for a weed infested creek crossing that joins up with another fire trail. This trail will take you to the cache. The only other approach is from the causeway at Wedderburn Gorge and even then you have to stay below the cliff lines until you reach the cache.
First for the day and the only one I was succesful at. Hmmm, a fair way to drive for 1 smiley but it was worth it. After circumnavigating it once I spotted the entrance and was in like Flynn. A bit of looking around before I spotted the red. Hmmm, what next. Some lateral thinking and I managed to solve the issue and quickly had the container in hand, on fairly solid footing as long as I didn't inadvertently take a step without thinking about it. No swaps, left a TB. Just where you find these places I will never know. Thanks Tangles.
So close from another fantastic Tangles cache! One cannot come and not have a go at this one as well. So down we went and up the other side, we eventually arrived at the right GZ after a bit of mucking around with the tree canopy playing havoc with the GPS. While I removed the back pack and chose the things I figured I'd need, Geodaughter2 ventured around and found the entry to VOID without delay followed by a lot of Whoa wow Dad you gotta see this cool!!!! And so without further delay we made our way in and explored our options, soooo many of them to but we decided there was one spot in particular that required special attention and off we went all of us in the same area checking every crevice and ledge, hang on whats that? Something red! That must be it, what the? how the? Oh ok I'll go, shortly after I came back with the ammo box we'd been chasing and we made our logs though once again no swaps here or trackables, As with our last find Tegs would be required to return the cache to it's special spot so to partake in the well hidden and torso twisting cache, Oh and certainly a cache worthy of my 800th find.
Thanks so much Tangles for going to a little extra effort than the average joe, Cheers

Well have herd stories about this one and knew i had to go do it and today was the day meet up with ruffasgutts and his geodaughter and off we all went.
Took a bit to find the opening but when we did we were in and looking around this great spot how cool is it in there.
As the ruff one got the cache from its hideing spot it was only fitting i put it back.
no swaps today as i left my swap bag outside.

good for my first cache...very,very nice place to hide it.

This is an amazing place and we took the time to explore it. We found Phar Laps resting place and had a bit of a look there, as well as every other cavity that we found. We soon poked our way into the right area and found something red. That was only a part of the problem - getting it was the other. But we did it in the end, and had a bit of a picnic to celebrate. TNLN except took a Geocoin. A very enjoyable experience Tangles - thanks.

A night cache with Rumplstiltskin. I turned my speleological instincts on as soon as we reached GZ, and the cache was promptly in hand. I had to reach into the unknown for the cache, but all was quickly in hand.
Thanks for another great cache Tangles!

Holey moley. How do you find these places Tangles?
Made the assault on this on a free tuesday evening, and even in the dark GZ was still very impressive. I'd never have thought such a VOID would exist so close to home, I think I'll come back sometime soon by day to do some more exploring of the area.
Picked up Generic Geocoin.
Thanks Tangles.

We look forward to every cache we do, however there are some (quite a lot actually) that stand out in terms anticipation and expectation of an above average caching experience. Void was one such and so it transpired. Early morning fog at home gave way to a clearing and rapidly warming day as we drove to our planned walk in point where the bush breaks upon the urban shore of south west Sydney. An easy stroll of several hundred metres via a combination of fire trail and open eucalypt forest brought us to the cliff line outlooking the river below. A quick scout around revealed a straightforward approach to the entrance.
We like Tangles’ notes for his “adventure†caches. Sure one takes a grain of salt with them but there are also many grains of truth don’t you worry. So it was with a tickle of excitement we swapped hats for helmets and into the black we ventured. What strange muggle tribe has left signs of it’s presence here we wonder? What dark rites have been carried out by the light of yon flickering fireplace? What indeed.
The notes certainly point the way nicely to the rainbow’s end, with some sparkling breadcrumbs merely confirming the obvious. We figured these were accidental so took the liberty of removing those we found. Theseus would have been right at home. A bit of a crawl, a bit of a clamber, a bit of a climb and victory was ours. We’re not unfamiliar with the black art of speleology so were very much in a comfort zone here. That said, even with the little bit of clambering involved in the darkness, the average cacher should not fear this great little adventure.
It is a thoroughly enjoyable cache to do – we liked it a lot. We took an appropriately named DVD (Into the Void) and some soap, leaving a Kelly’s Heroes DVD and (aptly) a candle. We also picked up a geocoin with a serious ambition. Incidentally, we doubt the Xmas present box (all the pressies are gone now) is meant for swaps as it is deteriorating and probably won’t be in situ long term. We transferred all but one item (which wouldn’t fit) into it’s mate.
Thanks Tangles for an excellent cache. Right down our hole in the ground.

After seeing in Tangles at a nearby cache and having got rid of the mini rat I headed for Tangles latest treat and as usual I wasnt disappointed. Took his advise and exited the road via the baseball oval. It took a minute to find the right entry point into this void but from then on it was plan sailing.
A very impressive spot, I know where to come when I need a few car parts (the things you find in strange places). Found the cache, but regrettable I'd left my swaps in the car. So I had to leave the pool of prizes for the next finder.
The card board box is slowly is very damp on the bottom as it sucks the moisture from the rocks.
Thanks Tangles for another great quality cache.

Loved this cache.. one of the best I have done so far.
I was able to grab the cache, but that was all.. there was a greater prize a little further up that I just could not get to.
Then it was time for the bakery... well deserved I think.
If GammaPiSigma complains about driving style, just remember, he used to drive a Volvo.

Tangles, your timing is impeccable. The cache listed the day before we headed to NZ for a two-week holiday. And there was just not enough time to get there before we left. Oh well, that's how it goes sometimes.
For the two weeks we were in NZ my thoughts were regularly drawn to the tantalising prospect of a new Tangles cache waiting at home. We managed to knock over some easy caches in NZ and at least this helped to keep the cravings under control.
Once home arrangements were made for a joint assault with XU9J4. After two weeks of excessive consumption and little exercise an MTB ride was in order. Having ridden the fire trails on the western side of the cache on numerous occasions I had a pretty good idea of how far along the fire trail it was. The ride to the cache was via the scenic route across the back of Airds, around the old tip and had its moments (didn't it XU9J4). We managed to only just overrun the fire trail exit point. A little backtracking and some portage was required to hide our trusty steeds not far from the cache. With the sun out the ground level humidity went through the roof and we knew this was going to be a hot and sweaty caching trip.
Shock and surprise is the only way to describe finding the entrance. If you stop at the entrance for a moment and look up at the rocks above you will see my favourite native orchid the Tongue Orchid (Dockrillia Linguiforme). They may not be as pretty as the spider or greenhood orchids but these little beauties tenaciously grow in locations that other orchids just can't handle.
Time to enter Tangles void and there was a lot of void to explore. Great to see the local Bogan Tribe has been busy providing artwork for the walls. It didn't take long for us to be seeing red as we realised where the cache was. This was going to be fun. Fatboy me went first and it was a squeeze to get near the cache. XU9J4 followed and we both stood on the small platform below the cache wishing we had eaten less Christmas pudding as the heat and humid rose rapidly. XU9J4 managed to reach the cache and the present box, which had so much quality stuff in it. We spent quite some time in the void signing the log, taking photos and present receiving. I grabbed an unactivated TB from the present box. Thanks to the person who put it in, I think it was homedg.
First class location and excellent physical challenge, caches don't get much better than this. Tired, sweaty and with my craving slaked we left the void. A much needed break was enjoyed on the ride home at the St Helens Park Bakery.
Just a word of warning. If you go MTB riding with XU9J4 and he suggests demonstrating his Mark Skaife/Michael Schumacher driving line technique WATCH OUT! You could be like me and find yourself heading over the handlebars after my front wheel got stuck in his rear dérailleur. One bent spoke later it was onwards to home.
From the cache:
T: All Blacks Supporters TB.
L: NZ$2.70 in coins. NZ issued new coins in October this year and all old coins are no longer legal tender. Dropped a Ziploc bag with 1 x $1, 2x 50c, 3 x 20c and 1x 10c in the cache as a swap item.

I accompanied Team Webguy & Sky Dog for another visit to this great location. I took the opportunity to take a few photos and explore a little. As a bonus, I finally got to meet Philma, who was here with his granddaughter Bronte who is quite an adventurous young lady!
Came back today to take some better images, swap some coins and also to meet Philma and Grand daughter. We were here for a few hours all up. Left a little pressie for Bronte in the christmas box.
Came in from the west this time, easier that way.
Came in from the west this time, easier that way.
Another memorable adventure!!
Bronte (my granddaughter) and I set off to conquer Tangles latest cache Void.
On the trip down the M5 I told Bronte fearful stories about killer bats that lived in caves, rodents large enough to bring down and kill a cow then drag it into the feasting chamber of its cave and devouring it in one sitting. Stories about cockroaches so thick they carpeted all the floors of each and every chamber just waiting for anything live to make the biggest mistake of its life by entering their forbidding abode.
Nomadic cannibal cave dwelling trides were also discussed and by the time I pulled on the handbrake at the boom gate I started to believe the very stories I had just madeup and was making excuses why we should continue no further.
After all I was still getting over my last adventure into a Tangles cache "Fear".
Bronte would have no part of it and insisted we continue.
We came in from the east side.
The Void was all we expected and more.
It was vast, dark and cramped with chambers branching off here and there. Tiny openings sprayed just enough light to allow the eyes to adjust. The Void is a magical place and worthy of a cache.
The killer bats, rodents, cockroaches and nomadic cannibals never materialized, they were replaced by four smiling faces of Webguy, Webguy Jr, Wingnut and Sky Dog.
The more of the Geocaching fraternity I meet and the longer I am in the game the more I appreciate the sport and the characters associated with it.
The present left by Webguy for Bronte was a just magic and unexpected. Thanks heaps!
Team Tangles I can only thank you once again.
Took BMX Bike Going south T/B and Pumpkin Geocoin.
Left All Blacks Supporters T/B and Generic Geocoin.
Happy New Year To all.
Regards Philma and Bronte

Was speaking with Webguy a couple of days ago and mentioned that he was making a return visit here. Sounded irresistible to me, so I tagged along with him, Wing Nut and Webguy Jr.
As always the VOID was up to the usual high Tangles' standard. I'm just sorry I didn't have swaps of high enough quality. There's some good stuff in there. Other cachers take note. This is what they should all be like.
It was nice to meet you Philma (and Bronte) after reading about all your escapades.
Thanks for the cache Tangles.

I plan to do this cache with my 9 year old granddaughter Bronte on Friday (weather permitting).
She has seen the photo's Webguy has posted and has assured me she is not afraid of the dark.
"Pop are there bats in the VOID?"
"Yes Bronte they like to suck blood. Do you still want to go?"
"Pop any spiders or snakes in the VOID?"
"Yes Bronte, heaps and I don't think they have been fed for a while. Do you still want to go."
"Pop, I'm not scared. I will have you with me."
Don't ya just love it.
Regards Philma.

For our 250th cache find milestone we decided, just like our 50th at nearby UK, that it just had to be a Tangles cache.
So with HomeDG jnr in tow off we set. The path was down and up again and then, we were in. It has been suggested you could park six cars in here. I don't know about that however I did park my B-Double semi-trailer in here before setting of on the final leg of the adventure.
Now it sometimes makes makes me wonder if mother nature is a cacher. She designs the perfect hiding spot and then spends a million years or so directing wind and water and tectonic shift to carve out her design. Then she emails Tangles the location for final cache placement .
The cache stash is top notch and the adherence to the theme cracked us up.
Grabbed a geo-coin, a personalised fridge magnet and a gift certificate. Wasn't until we got home and I gave it to Mrs Homedg to open I realised just how generous Team Tangles were. Thank you soooo much. The awesome card is hanging on our window and puts most of the Santa pulp to shame.
Left some gifts including some GC.com stickers, a geocaching mini compass for your cache bag and a set of unactivated travel bugs. Also left a TB and a couple of geo coins.
Thanks again for another great adventure and wish Team Tangles and all cachers a very Happy and Merry one.

I always love it when I see a new Tangles cache pop up, especially a Christmas one!
They are always interesting and well placed, often with a bit of a challenge thrown in. This one was no exception.
During Friday evening I was surprised that I hadn’t received a phone call from Webguy with his usual insane request that we “head out after dark to tackle the new Tangles cacheâ€. Saturday morning came and the expected phone call arrived as I was out and about attending to a few necessities. With the arrangements made we were soon on our way in Webguys original trusty cache mobile. After struggling up the hill from the river, the car was ditched (ummmm parked) in a suitable spot and we headed off into some familiar bushland. As I turned back to check that we hadn’t left anything behind, I remarked that the car looked a little out of place and offered to set it on fire so that it would blend in, but Webguy politely declined the offer.
We scrambled past a few very familiar spots and were soon looking for a place to cross the river. Even after the recent rain we soon found an easy way across and were at the entrance to the VOID after another short scramble. Whilst we enjoyed the increased challenge of the route we took, I’m sure that most people will take a different and easier route to this cache.
As we arrived at GZ and began investigating likely looking openings, I poked my head into the entrance of the VOID and there was no mistake that we were in the right place. The “Grand Chamber†is grand indeed!
With suitable illumination organised, we were soon exploring the vast cavern of the VOID. The cache was located in one of the first places that we searched, but there were so many places to investigate that we were still exploring quite a while later. As well as the fantastic features mentioned in the cache description (that you will experience while seeking the cache), some of the other highlights include a visit to the “Room with a Viewâ€, and climbing the “Crack of Doomâ€.
I gratefully accepted a Christmas gift from this well stocked cache, and left a small gift for a following cacher (some binoculars in a belt pouch - no swap required). The Christmas card with the gift was lovely.[^]
I would like to take this opportunity to wish Steve and Kathy a Merry Christmas and say thank you for all your fine cache placements, and a special thanks for the “Tangles school of cordage and smoothie makingâ€. You always set a fine example for other cachers to follow.
Merry Christmas to all, and a special thanks to Webguy and family for your excellent company on many caches and events over the past year. I look forward to the many adventures ahead.
Retrieved the geocoin after its visit to the “mineâ€.
Thanks Tangles.

A Tangles Christmas cache is always a good thing, even more so when your curiosity has been peaked by the description of the location. I was too tired for a nocturnal visit last night, as was our MO last year, hey, it's still gunna be there in the morning right?
So, after explaining to the mrs why I was getting out of bed instead of sleeping in, as I pulled out of the driveway, I figured it was late enough to ring the nut and see what he was up to. Already up and about, so, we met at his place where I positioned the aging POS so that it did not drop oil on his driveway, bad POS!!
On our way and as we got closer, we chose the up and down method of arrival at GZ. Nothing hard about getting to this one at all, but what a location!! Not only could you park 6 cars in here, you could plot an entire multi in just the main chamber!
This is the sort of location you live to find, there are just so many places to explore, and explore we did, though, it was found in the first spot we looked, and after the retrieval, we checked out other spots. Tried our hardest to get some shots that do the place justice, but failed I think in that regard.
As there were no lines on the pages of the log book, and I had not brought my lines template for putting behind the page, I limited my log entry in the Christmas log to 6 pages.
I took a gift with many thanks, and left a bunch of stuff as well, just because I can and it's christmas after all! While the nut did his bit, I spent more time taking more shots inside and out, as well as shot a bit of video as well, you'll just have to come and see the place for yourself to see how big this chamber is.
Interesting christmas message that has been scrawled on the wall, not quite the normal message one tends to see in cards.
As we left, we sent in the cleaning crew to give the place the once over, so, I don't think we have left and footprints to show we were there.
A big Merry Christmas to everybody out there, especially to Steve and Kathy, who have always put out amazing caches in amazing locations, not just your average rice container with a few bits of crap in it that was thrown out the window of the car as they drove by. The cards were beautiful as well!
2006 has been a busy year, one of personal goals and achievements, and 2007 is also going to be such a year with some big plans ahead and new goals to strive for.
To the nut and his expanding family, always willing to come along and not be too afraid to be a passenger in the POS that drops oil. Always enjoy your company on our mounting list of adventures, plenty more to plan for next year, I'll get my people to talk to your people....
Dropped a coin that wanted to visit a mine, this is the closest I could find without stranding it for too long.
Photos to follow soon.
A Tangles Christmas cache is always a good thing, even more so when your curiosity has been peaked by the description of the location. I was too tired for a nocturnal visit last night, as was our MO last year, hey, it's still gunna be there in the morning right?
