With recent flooding this one has finally gone.

06-Jan-11
1734. Dried out cloth items and logbook put back (log in ziplock). Finally timed it right to get a photo of train on the bridge.

03-Jan-11
amazing location, and was stunned by how many dragon flies were around. As for the cache, had a good look around, but the word "copperhead" in my mind prevented a more active search. Oh well.

02-Jan-11
0850-1620. Sistema container was 30% full of water (saw containers in Aldi recently that had clasps on 4 sides so will try those sometime). Tipped it out but contents soggy including log which also seemed to be full. Off on a mtb ride to Castlemaine so laid out everything in wagon to dry. To cater for visits today, we left a cast away container with a page torn from a waterproof log in a cache I had on me to place during the ride (GA3025). On return, cloth items still very wet and as expected so was the log book. Kept those and for a temporary log, put in a small diary bought in Castlemaine and fortunately had a zip lock bag for it from our ride scroggin. No entry on the page I had left in place.

If you want the old log KoT, then email a postal address else I will put it back in the container with the remaining dried items next time we go through Malmsbury - probably this month or next. You may want to replace the diary log; although it will last for 2011 if visitors use the actual date panels.

02-Jan-11
0850. If I'd read the previous log last night we would have given it a miss especially as we dropped in only because we parked here for our mtb forest ride to Fryerstown and Castlemaine. A+ especially well explored the GZ including holes and you should have seen her face when I just told her about the log. On our ride there were quite a few other snakes we didn't see today fortunately Big Grin

TNLN is our mantra but this time we took the whole cache (see note). On return by train from Castlemaine we repacked all the dry components and I returned the cache to its possie about 1620 and obviously still didn't encounter the snake (not that I'd recognise it but I see from my guide that t was a Lowland Copperhead).

Picked up the 2c Geocoin and dropped off Micro Compass Rose Geocoin. TFTC Kot and as usual a good hide.

29-Dec-10
Unable find in the company of Aussiepuschacks, Chelsea08 and steph&marj on route to Bendigo for an enjoyable day of caching. We got a liitle too close and personal with the resident snake basking in the sun but with 5 sets of eyes still could not find the GZ hide.Enjoyed the location and fantastic views all the same, will try again another day. As I complete this log I have just realised who placed this cache and am fairly aquainted with their style of very clever hides I am now sure we were missing the big picture and looking incorrectly.

29-Dec-10
Not found today due to a couple of possible factors:
1) There is a big copperhead snake guarding the likely cache location
2) The likely cache location has been inundated with water
3) The cachers searching were all blinkered and didn't see the hide.

Either way, once the snake was spotted no one was willing to go too much further in, and after a few discussions about the viaduct we made haste to continue our trip to Bendigo. A great spot to visit, Thanks

Found after a bit of scratching around, Great view of the Viaduct from here.
No swaps, thanks for the cache.

We found the cache nicely hidden away. First I dug a hole where my gps said...which was a bit out. I misinterpreted the bit that said it was hidden away from trees. We had a nice cuppa in the park afterwards. Thanks.

06/11/2010 11:24 Found: #93 Log book nearly full. Left TB36WG9 . 2nd attempt and this time a quick find. TB OUT: TB2JPQ7.
Was here last week for a disappointing and unrecorded DNF. So much water now that GZ is within 2 meters of the lake and so was unable to get to it easily last week without getting rather wet. This week the water was lower so went in for a closer look. Luckily the cache was dry. Geoson managed to squeeze our log onto a page with another entry on it. This park really is much larger than you think and I had no idea it even had an historic rail bridge.

Called in to drop of "Gardens of the World" travel bug. Malmsbury Botanic Gardens seemed a good place to start off it's Australian adventure.

Found at 9:30. What an impressive bridge. And a train went over it while we were there. The cache took a little while to locate but it was not too hard.
Log signed and returned we were on our way. It was too cold to sit in the park and have morning tea.
No swaps today

Arrived before the sun was up and tried to find cache with our wind up torches... lol... they didnt help much.. so we walked back to the car for some breakfast... and to look for a better torch. Didnt find the good torch, but by the time we finished looking for it the sun was up.. so we headed back to GZ and found the cache after a bit of a search. Picked up the"Mad" geocoin. it wasnt logged into this cache.. I will move it to a new home soon. Thanks very much for the cache.

On our way home from a sqaure dance fundraiser at Campbells Creek. Out and about with Toy Car to check out some nice parks and pick up some well earned lunch from the bakery. Lovely park here to enjoy a picnic but today we ate in the courtyard, the food was great.
Thanks for the cache.

I hade only ever driven past this park...I admired it from the car...but...too silly to get off my butt and appreciate it....And that is truly a magnificent structure that I had never seen because I never got out of my car...amazing...I've been over it aswell, but never seen it...The cache was found 4 metres from gz...I didn't see any prickles that were close enough to the cache to cause me grief...Did no swaps...TFTC

Great Park. Driven past at least 100 times, never stopped. Today was the day. The Highway is Sooo quiet now Malmsbury has been Bypassed.

Be sure to buy some bread from the Bakery to feed the local ducks by the waters edge.... both good and bad!

Headed down to G.Z. and did a bit of circle work trying to locate cache. Accuracy to within 4M.

Warning; Thongs not advisable footwear down the back blocks.
I was to busy checking the GPS to properly recognise the surface below and went bum up!
I survived albeit a few bruises on my bum and back. GPS ok, D.SLR ok, Iced Coffee Big M lost a few drops.

Didn't find cache.
Took cuts, bruises and abrasions, Left a little blood.

Thanks for the bruises and good Pie Smile

Checked out local cemetary too. Bit of old history there.

The skies opened up with a rainblast just as we started our walk to this cache, but it was a enjoyable walk in the rain. We were lucky enough to see a train go over the magnificent bridge - I am sure if would have looked even better if my glasses weren't fogged up!

I really couldn't say how many times I've been through here. Way way too many times. And as for stopping here, I've lost track of how many pies I've had at the bakery. I have also been known to wax lyrical about the beauty and the significance of the railway viaduct. And have I ever actually walked in those gardens or gone up to the viaduct. Nope not once, ever. Until now, and now I realise I've been missing out. Its a wonderful gardens and the viaduct up close is just breathtaking. So big thanks for finally getting me in there.

The cache was a little hard to find, although I must have walked past it numerous times. But with a bit of lurking and circling I found it. Why I didn't look there first off I really don't know.

A most enjoyable find.

Thanks.

Found at 15:30.

We travelled to Bendigo but it was raining first time we passed this point - on our return trip the sun broke through and the Gardens were bathed in light. The Railway Bridge viewed from near the cache with the creek beneath made a lovely shot. Thank you for this because in the wet weather one wouldn't usually walk to this point of the Gardens, and it would be a pity to miss it.

With the ground wet and slippery this cache was a difficult one to reach without a bit of a slide. Not too difficult to find though. Removed the SeaWorld keychain and placed in a Bottle Opener keychain.

Found this in the company of Monch's Mob. Loved the structure, and it was such a beautiful day it truly looked spectacular. Also loved the very old fountain. We had lunch in the gardens, and were helped in this by some very friendly ducks/geese. We had bought a caravan on ebay that morning, and pick-up was in Malmsbury, so off we went in the evening. Couldn't go there and pass up the opportunity of finding a cache.

Found at 1350. Great park and some spectacular photos taken. Was down by the waters edge looking at the bridge and waiting for what I thought was muggles to go by when I realised that they were cachers. As it turned out, it was Pprass, the first cachers I have met in the field. They soon introduced me to Ian and Penny and spent a nice 20 mins or so chatting before we left our separate ways to find the next caches on our respective lists.

Found at 1.45pm GAFF1 on our Coromal Cairn Curran Campaign weekend in the company of Ian & Penny. Ian & Penny had previously done this cache, so we left them at the picnic table after finishing our lunch while we headed off to a familiar spot. We have a fantastic photo of this structure taken by our son a few years ago. While filling in the log a rustle was heard in the bushes and suddenly Marcus Vitruvius appeared all the way from Albury! Another cacher meeting in the field - 3rd this weekend! We had a quick chat and then invited him to meet Ian & Penny where we continued our discussions. Thanks Keeper of Time for highlighting this spot. tn/ln.

We too have stopped at this park many times on our way to visiting relatives in Bendigo. Malmsbury is such a scenic spot, but the bluestone viaduct is a real hidden treasure. Our recommendation for nearby eats would be the general store rather than the bakery. On a previous trip we bought two large coffees and bag of 5 biscuits at the bakery for $17 - ouch!

Our GPS was also going a bit crazy in the area, but a second attempt after lunch was successful in locating the cache.

We had stopped her in the past but had never been this far into the park. It was extremely dry and no ducks around today as there normally is. We were very surprised at the view we found at gz as were a few muggles that were standing around taking pictures. Luck was on our side today, as they did not hang around too long leaving us with the area to ourselves for a nice easy find.

It was after sunset when I arrived to look for this cache, but could still see the impressive viaduct silhouetted against what was left of light in the night sky. I have been to this park several times, playing indoor bowls with the senior cits as a youngun'. A while back I thought of putting a cache here myself. However I have never stopped to notice the bridge before. This afternoon it was spectacular, with it's reflection picture perfect in the still water of the lake. I was cursing that I'd left the camera at home.

We found this cache at around 7.15pm on our way to Daylesford for the weekend .
We never saw any wildlife good or bad as in the description
but the gardens were rather nice & the cache was stocked full of goodies which is good to see !

4stubbies loved the reason to call in here as we often just wiz past. Lovely park although a really hot day, not too many muggles around just as well as it took some serious looking to find this cache. Very well hidden, beware sticks as 1 stubbie has a face wound that was very nearly a nasty one. Took spaceman and left teddy.

I love opening the log book and realising you just missed someone! In this case it was by a mere 15 minutes.

I have passed this location on many occasions, it really is a great spot to stop and look around. Unfortunately the water has dried up, it would be great to see it back to its former glory.

Thanks,
