A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Like Outdoornut22 I drove to about 2km before trig & walked from there. Glad I didn’t push it as the track is only good for a trail bike at the moment. Got here early & did the walk before the heat kicked in – many spider webs so I was glad I had my walking stick with me – vice walk to the nice trig – many thanks. Clan Griffin

headed out with Outdoornut22 to bag a few quick trigs, this one was pretty good, nice walk out was a clear trail the whole way.

Got out here on a rainy afternoon on a bit of a drive around the Colo, pretty easy getting in managed to drive about a 3rd of the way down the trail and then walked the last 2ish km down to the trig, would have loved to see if we could get down to the river from here but decided to head back as the light was fading. as mentioned in previous logs, only the concrete pillar remains standing, however the remnants of the mast, vane and earlier rock trigs litter the area.

A further day along Wheelbarrow Ridge Road for a mid morn walk down the fire trail. Along the way there was a continuous display of early spring flowering and the gentle meander and minimal elevation change made for a top walk. The trig appears from around a bend surround in a splash of greenery. Sans vanes and mast but with name plate intact the cairn is in good condition. Next to Wheelbarrow are the remains of the original rock built cairn, with remnant of the rusting original vanes.

At last whitemushroom and I made the 4km trek to this great Trig, the mast and vanes are gone although debris from the mast can be found down slope a bit, but no trace of the vanes.
However the remains of the old cairns are still there with the rusted old vanes, or rather what is left of the old vanes.
A profusion of wild flowers today and some great views a bit further along the track.

An easy find, with a narrow ridgeline fire trail of approx. 3.5km leading directly there from the north. A very pleasant walk (if you like being wrapped in cobwebs). The fire trail continued on beyond the trig and looked to be heading downhill, so perhaps you could also get here from the valley bottom too (although it wasn't marked on my map)? The trig is a new concrete pillar with the old vane and stone cairn scattered next to it.
