Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

As for the last person, I found the gate closed. The welcome sign is still there though. The house appears deserted, although someone is cutting the grass. I went over the fence and made my way to the trig. TFTC.

The gate to the property was locked and I wasn't sure if thee was anyone in the house. I decided to go over and walk the 180m to the trig. Great view from the lookout.

An extended long weekend away with +Wife, caching across the border into South Australia for the first time.
We were staying at Highview Family Cottages, less than 5 km from here.
Following on from the event and CITO that we hosted yesterday we are now on our way to SA.
Having cached in Tower Hill yesterday we decided to come up here on our way out.
As we approached the Cairn is started to rain. Not to be deterred, the trad was soon found and pics taken at this Trig Point.
I couldn't get the cover open and all appropriate leverage was back in the car.
Since the rain showed no sign of easing up, I passed on returning with a wheel brace.
I think it is just silted up. Seems to have been some time since the last visitor.
Thanks for the Trig Point and the views of Tower Hill bucketeer. Very Happy

#GA1968 - 12:45; Day five of a caching mission to Victoria with Sol de lune. The plan for today was to head south through Beaufort to Penshurst, Port Fairy and Warnambool, before heading back via Camperdown and Lismore to Creswick caching all the way. After collecting a few caches in and around Port Fairy, we were now heading towards Warnambool. Took a short detour in to Tower Hill for me to grab a snap of this trig as Sdl had logged it on a visit about 5 years ago. Collected a GC cache as a bonus.
