Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

No luck for us. In our defence is the hideously spiky/overgrown grass and prickles everywhere....

#GA5377 - 15:55; Day two of a mission through the Central West of New South Wales with Sol de lune to grab some of the dragonZones to our west was now underway after overnighting in Lake Cargelligo. Today's travels took us from Lake Cargelligo past Murrin Bridge, into Cobar, Bourke, Brewarrina, Walgett and on to Carinda to overnight. We collected finds in Lachlan, Cobar, Brewarrina and Walgett dragonZones and counties along the way. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Out on a road trip with LuckyL10n to grab a few dragonZones in outback NSW that we still had to visit including Bland, Carrathool, Lachlan, Cobar, Brewarrina, Walgett, Coonamble as well as grabbing a few caches in previously visited zones. A fun 3 days with over 2200 klms notched up along the way. A visit to the little town of Carinda which is famous for a visit by David Bowie to record a film clip for one of his single releases, was a bit of a highlight. A neat pub with great food and a good sort of atmosphere. Well worth the drive off the main road to check it out. At $55 a night the accommodation, while basic, was not too bad.

This was one of the many trigs we found while out and about. No issues here and the required photo was soon snapped.

Thanks for another trig....

Last one before reaching Brewarrina, thank goodness says TG47. Another pad with just the pin showing.

Today we are travelling west from Walgett to Brewarrina trying to grab as many of these trigs as possible. I was hoping to get the 12 months unloved that was available on most of them, but discovered my good friend Albida had done a mad dash from home and has dashed, ha! Ha!ha! that idea.We also will be after the GC Earth caches there . Thanks for publishing this series of trigs Geocaching Australia. DancingDancingClan CerberusClan Cerberus

I decided a weekend dash north to finish my inland NSW counties was in order. The aim was Brewarrina for the two Earth Caches. Day 2. After a coolish night I was up and away fairly quickly. I am planning on doing most of the GC caches on my return journey, but I stopped at several GCA caches and even a run of Trigs West of Walgett. The day turned out quiet warm and I camped by the banks of the Barwon River just out of Brewarrina.

This was part of a series of Trigs along the road to Brewarrina.

Thanks
Albida
