#GA5767 - 2:06:00 PM; Day five of "The Great Leap Forward" road trip and after dropping feathertop at an event in Adelaide this morning, I'm on the road again heading along the coast for home via Victoria. After a nice piece of flake for lunch in Kingston SE, I hit the road again and took a detour up the Mount for this trig. No problems here! TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Last of my trig stops along the way home. Easy access to this one and another one you can drive up to. Soon had the required photo and after a quick around, it was back in the car, down the hill and back on the black stuff.

Thanks for another trig...

Looks like it has been 3 years since this was logged, got to the trig in the Camry but it would be a bit slippery near the top in wet weather I think.Luckily the rain didn't come down till we were well away. I grew up in this district but this is the first time I have been up to the top of Mt. Benson.

Neither my Garman, nor my Tom Tom showed the track on them leading to this, but I soon worked it out. An easy drive up here. The track I followed left the main road at S37° 1.969' E139° 48.024. TFTC.

Wow, how many towers can you cram onto the top of a hill???
Unfortunately there was no view today as I was in the clouds here Mr. Green
Cheers

The sun had set when we arrived at the Mount Benson Trig Point. There are certainly many communicatiosn towers here in addition to the Fire Tower. Two photos have been added to the Gallery: Mrs y'stassie, illuminated by torchlight, in front of the outline of the Fire Tower; and, the survey marker beneath the Fire Tower.

We found the right track in ans with the gate open we drove round and up Mount Benson to the base of the look out tower. We were amazed to find a car parked up there but there was nobody in it so we parked up and got out to take the necessary pictures. I then heard someone up the tower questioning what I was doing, I told them I was just taking some pictures only to be told that we should not be up here as there was a total ban due to the high temperature. I appologised and questioned how I was to know as the gate at the bottom was open, he suggested that I finish taking my pictures and leave, so we did.

A drive to trig is a bit of a rarity so we couldn't resist this one. Headed up there in the campervan and reached the top easily. A very interesting area for Mr Beetle as he works for Telstra [but don't hold that against us - a job's a job]. Thanks.
