Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 121. Yeppoon Day 2. Today was to be a quiet day with no caching targets, except the ritual of at least one. My first option was a fail, so I headed up this bluff for a nice walk to this cache and a trig. The rest of the day was restful at the van park.

There were plenty of people walking and running up the trail, but I just plodded along till I got to the top. There was not much to see from the trig itself, but out on the edge the views up and down the coast were tremendous.

Thanks for the cache

We were in the area to find the nearby GC cache and this was close by so I stopped off to find this Trig. It was a bit of a bash through the lantana to get to it. We were surprised by the construction.

I decided to take a late afternoon journey up here for this trig point, the nearby GC cache and, of course, the views. Dancing After nabbing the cache, it was over to this one for the find at approximately 17:50 to mark its first log in over 18 months. Shocked

There were no real views from GZ but the ones not too far away were pretty spekkie.

Thanks Geocaching Australia .

This is what I call 2 off for the $ of 1. A waymark & GCA trig. For me a Gal pipe as a trig in the middle of the scrub is – well not much. At least in NSW & VIC & also most times in SA the trigs are well built. To me this is the cheap option to other trigs completed. Anyway thanks for the views.

Did the summit circuit & enjoyed the views. The trig itself is uninspiring when compared to those I have found in NSW but it was my 99th so very welcome.

#FTF# Did the walk and found a week ago but still struggling with the technology.!! There is a National parks walking track up the hill almost to GZ. Whilst up there have a look for GCQV9B "Mulambin" it's even closer to the track. Great views of the Capricorn Coast Islands.
