Description
Hinchinbrook TS2486
The official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Hinchinbrook.
Serial number is: TS2486.
Last Inspected on: September 15, 1978.
Elevation is: 124 metres.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Logs
Came here with teamMerlin and Splitty Miller JJCC while we were doing the series. A bit of a walk to get to the ridge tgen a flat walk directly to the trig.
If coming to this Trig make sure to check the fence and satisfy yourself before going further.
We were able to drive very close to the trig with only a short bush bash to the top of the hill where we came the electrified fence with brand new barbed wire on top, We did not try to find out if the power was on or not on the fence so we settled to take our photo from 59 metres away.
This trig may possibly never have had a mast and vanes, the top is fitted with a cap over the mast mount.
As reported by TC, you'll eventually be stopped by a barbed wire fence. It may also be electrified. (We didn't touch it to find out!)
So we shot our required photo from 59 metres away. Didn't realise that it had been so long since it was last logged and that we were 2TF.
Concrete pedestal itself and top plate was all that was left of this old TS. Vanes long gone and plate souvenired.
Was only able to get within 50m of this due to an electric fence.
Hope the photo shows enough!?!
The Trig Station did not have the top on it, it was just a base.
