Description

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape.
Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

#GA5124 - 13:27; Day one of a road trip with Sol de lune as we head north for the CacheQLD - Dayboro Mega. The weather was fine at last as we set off from the National Capital and made our way towards Narrabri where we planned to spend the night. Took a detour to a back road to grab a snap of this one. Heading to QLD and the Dayboro Mega with LuckyL10n and stopped by to check out this trig. It was a long shot of the trig, but it is there.

I decided a weekend dash north to finish my inland NSW counties was in order. The aim was Brewarrina for the two Earth Caches. Day 3. I headed south aiagn, this time via some diry to visit Carinda and Quambone. Then it was back to the bitumen at Gulargambone for a few more caches before returning to Wellington via Dubbo.

This was a bit of a longer shot than I would have liked, but it is done now.

Thanks
Albida

This afternoon TG47 was again the chauffeur as we drove south from Dubbo in search of this trig. Success was eventually experienced after he tried numerous routes to get as close as possible so we could photograph it. Thanks for the trig Geocaching Australia.
