Description

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the centre point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably.

Out with Black Bunny on a drive to break the boredom and decided to grab this as we passed by.

Thanks for the trig.

We decided to head out for a drive as the day looked too good to waste. A quick grab with Just a cacher here today as we passed by.

Thanks for the trig.

#GA5289 - 08:50; A cold and windy day, but despite the weather, I set out with Sol de lune and Smittengranny on a "Blitzkrieg" to collect caches in the area to the north from Gundaroo through to Gunning and on through some other small towns and villages wrapping up in Goulburn. Managed 13 GCA and 15 GC for the day as we made our way along mainly country roads. This was our second stop and a bit of a long shot from the roadside fence! 2nd of a couple along here and on the way to Goulburn. Another one with a long shot....although the trig can be seen from the road, it doesn't appear that well in the photo's.

Out on a fabulous day. It started with Canberra's first frost, clear blue skies and a bit of a breeze. However that all changed with clouds gradually appearing and the breeze developed into a really nasty wind that felt as if it came straight off the snow. I was travelling with LuckyL10n and Sol de Lune who had mapped out a good route for us that included GCA and GC caches - some trads, some mystery and importantly some trigs. Far off in the distance we found this trig and managed to photograph it. TFTT Geocaching Australia ClappingClappingClan CerberusClan CerberusClan Cerberus

I was out after work trying to collect enough caches to cross off a day at the right number of caches found per day. This was off in a paddock with nothing to see, but here is my image.

Thanks

Spotted on a trig and traditional hunt north of the ACT. Easy to see when picking up the cache along the road.
