Description

This trig point appears on the  ACTmapi Survey Infrastructure Map and includes the (MC) tag, which identifies it as a trig point.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the centre point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably.

Out for a nice close by walk in nature this warm afternoon to do some maintenance and find some GCAs.

Needing a Regular cache, I headed over to Aranda after work for a walk in the reserves for a few caches to get the one I needed. Plenty of hills and despite that, quite swampy ground in places. Nice to see a new trig.

Thanks for the cache

Blitz continues and we need to work hard to achieve that magic number. I was out late this afternoon to see how many more caches I could grab before the dark beat me. This was the first of only three. TFTT Geocaching Australia ClappingClappingClan CerberusClan CerberusClan Cerberus

#GA4901 - 10:40; Picked up Sol de lune and headed out on a caching run to collect some of the newly published trigs around the National Capital. Decided to head north for our second stop. A short climb and we had number two for the day. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Another one nabbed while out with LuckyL10n on a Saturday run around. Listed on the map as a trig and not a survey point...so all good.

I was caching in the general area and noticed this, so extended the walk. I don't know what makes this a trig and not just another survey mark, but it's to be logged, so I logged it Cool. TFTC.

Seen this before but figured just a survey marker not a trig. Anyway photos included.

Spotted on a long weekend trig and traditional hunt around Canberra. Depending upon where you park, will depend on how much of a workout your legs will get.
