Description

This trig point appears on the  ACTmapi Survey Infrastructure Map and includes the (MC) tag, which identifies it as a trig point.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the centre point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably.

Doing some other GCA cache in Belconnen after not finding a stack of movable in the area. Last time I must have been here was in last August, how time flies

Quickly found. I have had trouble finding these is the past but this time I walked straight up to it.

I spent a good 10mins looking for this one, under the curious gaze of a toddler and her papa. I was starting to be convinced that it had had a tree planted over it when I spotted the darn thing. Phew! Just on sun down. Now to go home and take my shots in battleship!

Out and about on a big day of caching with Smittengranny and LuckyL10n and this was our first stop. Took a minute to locate the prize but all was and the require photo was soon snapped....

#GA5055 - 09:00; A caching mission with Sol de lune and Smittengranny was planned a couple of weeks ago and the day had arrived. We had a heap of GCA caches and trigs along with a smattering of GC caches as well. This was our first stop for the morning and it took a bit of searching before the trig revealed itself to us. Grabbed a snap and headed off again. TFTC Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

This afternoon I had a wonderful time targeting Trig caches around the area. I have actually photographed 9 trigs but will only log 8 as I am hoping to claim the 8th one when I get around to walking up closer to it. Thanks Geocaching Australia for publishing all these trigs to challenge us to get away from the locationless that are so numerous at the moment. Apologies for the generic logs. I was out for a day of shopping and caching and stopped past here. This area is just a small park now with a cover over the pin, but at least I have found this as my currently closest to home listing

Thanks

For a trig, quite hard to find as flush to the ground in the lawn. My GPS showing about 4m out but spotted ok. Not much left apart from the pin and concrete surrounds.
