Description

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the centre point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably.

Passing through town with NTM and stopped to visit this one.
It's a shame the top half of the trig was removed
Thanks for the cache Smile

Heading homeward, aka east, after a trip out to the One Ton Post and Lightning Ridge. Lots of trigs both published abs unpublished on GCA to find today. It was hot and the weeds god-awful, but the hunting for treasure was fun.

This is one of many found today.

This was not the silo we first saw, but it was still an easy enough find on our way through.

We're driving up to Lightning Ridge today, making a 4hr drive into 8hr of course with 18 caches - 13 GCA and 5 GC.... We had great caching conditions today, temps to 22 degrees even, and dry (for once!).
First snapped from the road, but couldn't make out a trig, then spotted the access track to the base of the reservoir, then spotted it...

Found with Smittengranny.

We're moving camp today. Another long haul, ha! ha! ha! About an hour or so from Yarrie Lake to Burren Junction Bore. Pa missed the turn off into this trig so we walked back along the road to snap this photo. Thanks for publishing these trigs for us to find Geocaching Australia.
