Description
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the centre point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

An excellent walk with magnificent views.
I had been past this trig point some time ago looking for a cache at the bluff and on the way back had a look for it.
On that trip I managed to find three of the reference marks but not the trig so I thought the beacon had been removed.
Over the last week I did a bit more researching and I realized there was never a beacon at this trig.
I redrew the plan of the trig and worked on a plan on finding or not finding something.
This morning I got up early and parked in the car park at the end of Waterfall Bay Road and found a nearby cache before heading along the track to the trig.
A GZ I unloaded some gear over the track and realised I had left my plan at home before having another look at the spots I had looked at before.
After measuring from two of the RMs I placed a marked on the leaf litter but I still couldn't find a marker, so I started looking for the RM1 and RM2.
Without finding anything I had a bit of a dig in the leaf litter under my marker and very quickly found the brass mushroom marker.
After doing a little happy dance I had another look and found RM2.
I was very happy with finding the trig marker, RM2, RM3, RM5 and RM6.
