Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a Geo-cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ and to photograph it.

Official Code: TS6737 Kindarun

A concrete unit with fines on top off – well due to the fires & heat it is a little droopy.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the centre point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated

So trig hunting and maybe a little bit of 4WDing, or was it the other way around??? Out in the Putty State Forest. We had a great day out playing in the mud and managed to miss most of the heavier showers. so this trig we weren't sure if we were going to be able to collect as the previous log stated the first road into ti was defiantly signed with a private property sign. but when we carried on around the road we found another path heading in the right direction that would have taken us all the way there if it wasn't for a fallen tree in the way. there is defiantly someone building here but the site was abandoned for us today so we managed to quickly grab a photo. The trig was in reasonably good condition.

Out with a couple friends doing some 4wding around the Putty State Forest. we had a great day out playing in the mud and managed to miss most of the heavier showers. This one was on the loop we did (or more like I made sure it was Very Happy ). I had seen this on the topo map and not given it much thought as it looked private but as it was now listed we had to check it out, we found the track that Hansjj described and being in a 4wd went amp a little ways but didn't want to upset anyone if they were home so we stopped up the steep bit and walked the last 250m. As described this is an amazing place for a house but unfortunately if they keep building this one will be well to close to visit without asking permission from the property owners, I felt a little uncomfortable being that close as it was. but its a nice looking concrete pillar still with its name plate.

When I found this on SIX mapping – I had a gut feeling this is on private land & reading survey report I new it was a concrete unit. Looking on google mapping in sat view a building was close by. In any case I gave it a go to see what was here. So, fingers crossed I came to see what happened. At the main road there is a gated driveway so I kept driving hoping to find a trail to the top. At posted parking co-ordinate’s a trail leads up the steep hill, so parked here & did the walk up to the top hoping to get a distance shot or see what happens. Once at the top & only 130 metres to go I came to the trail that leads to the top. Drive way to the left & a trail to the right to the high point. I took that 1 as I figured trig was up there. At only 20 metres away I still couldn’t see it. Then it appeared from behind the water tank.
I was only here for the trig & I didn’t go any further towards the houses.
I’m leaving this active & not archiving this trig due to the fact this isn’t finished & I have seen in the past people have the best dream intensions but due to distance / money / time it never gets finished.
A TOP view & a TOP location for the buildings – a dream location – fire is a problem – waking to that view money can’t buy.
It will be interesting what happens in the future here.
The view from up here 5 stares
