Description

TS3549 - North Cotte (A.K.A. Ingalba North Trig)

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia or SIX Maps and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

I came in directly from the road and through a fence. Found a track leading out, but still went back the way i came, as the car was there. This is a great looking trig. Well worth the effort...not that it was a big effort.

Joint *FTF* with JohnoMawbs @ 10:06am on the 7/1/21

JohnoMawbs asked me if I wanted to join him to find a trig point and I decided on taking him up on his offer. So we headed out and before the heading out to the trig, we stopped off at the history cache, along the way, for another history lesson. Now onto the main mission, We stopped off at the parking area and headed off for the Trig. A nice quick find at GZ and a joint FTF. TFTC, TFTTP and JohnoMawbs for asking me to tag along. Very Happy

P.S. See the photo attached on JohnoMawbs Log. I took the photo which is why you can only see my hand.

Very Happy Joint *FTF* with Swimmagurl @ 10:06am on 7 January 2021 Very Happy

With a free morning on hand, I decided on heading out to this trig point but before I headed out, I asked if Swimmagurl wanted to go with me. She was also free, so we headed off to the parking area (S34 26.167 E147 26.028). It was only a short walk of about 300m to the trig point. During the walk we were trying to avoid all the spider webs but unfortunately this wasn't the case as both of us ran into many of them. As we reached GZ, the trig point appeared and we took a quick photo to claim it as found with the joint FTF. Thanks for coming with me Swimmagurl and to Geocaching Australia for the TP find. TFTTP Very Happy
